I took AP calc AB/BC in high school and Stats in college, so I didnt think I needed to study any math. When I did the first of your questions in my head and got it wrong, I knew I needed help. I got a 100% on the math section of my TEAS on Thursday and I thank you so much.

0.75 * x=45.6/0.75=60.8. From what I remember; of represents multiplication, and is represents equals, then solve for X.

When calculating the total cost of the meal as in you did for question 7, would you get the same result if you add both the tip and the sales tax (to get 26.75%) and multiply that by the cost of the meal ($88.24)? If so would it be faster to calculate the answer to question 8 by adding the tip and sales tax (25% + 6%= 31%) and use quick calculation for each multiple choice answer to find which answer is 31%? For example answer a) 1000/769.23=1.3000013 ~ rounded to 1.30 vs the correct answer d) 1000/763.36=1.3099979 ~ rounded to 1.31
For these particular examples, yes that would work.

I am still stuck on why question 10 is 16%.
I used the formula from the previous problem and plugged in
sale price= orig price x discount
42=50xb
b=0.84 x 100 = 84%
But I see how you subtract 50 from 42.
The formula is discount amount = orig price x discount rate
Discount amount is different than sale price. Have a look back over this problems one more time. I discuss this common misconception.
For #1 I thought it would be B? question didnt specifically ask for percent ? can you clarify thank you
Even though it didn't ask for a percent, all of the answer choices given are in percent form. Therefore, you must find the equivalent percentage in order to pick the correct answer.
why does adding the X's on problem 8 not equal 3x
Combining like terms... for example x+x+x=3x because that is the same as 1x+1x+1x=3x
However... 2x+8x-3x=7x because 2+8-3=7
Combining like terms is the name of the game. 👍

For Mac book question (after 6th question) sales tax =0.07*160= 11.2 .How is it different from LIVE 12 ,3rd question? I am confused.
