I had a TEAS test few days ago, and I scored 94% in Math section. I had all the resources, but I didn’t use those. Instead I watched your Math videos again and again. Thank you so much Professor. I appreciate what you do for us.
Tammy! First off....Congrats! You nailed it! Thanks so much for sharing this! This will continue to encourage other students to use these tutorials to help with the math portion of the TEAS. Happy holidays!
Thanks a lot Professor, all the credit goes to you. The way you teach us is remarkable, I hope other people can learn from you about how to teach. You help us in achieving our goals. Happy Holidays to you and your family!! Thanks again.
Me too!! I have my first teas 2/5.. nervous!
Did you use his online videos on his website or just the UA-cam ones ?

Hi. In the short cut section how are you to figure out the 172 m2 to set up the problem, without having to do it the long way first?
Consider the wall that had no "funky shaped" window. The area of that wall is 180 square meters. Since the windows are there, and we don't want to paint the windows, we need to subtract the area that the windows are covering from the area of the wall. Since the area of both windows equals 8 square meters, we subtract that from 180 to get the 172 square meters.
quick question how did you know to use the area formula of a rectangle for the paint problem.
Painting a surface, laying carpet, etc. When you cover a surface you are always working with area.
hey brandon.. good shit man!
Glad you enjoyed the tut!
Hi Brandon I have my Teas exam next week and I didn't know about your videos on youtube. However, I was searching for help on youtube and you're videos came up. Thank you so much Sir I just pass my teas exam and I scored 90 on the math section God bless you
Congratulations! 👊 90% is fantastic! Thanks for sharing. Good luck with the next steps in your pursuit of becoming a life saver!
I just figured it out the area of space missing is 16 which would be the 4 for length and 4 for width. I have to multiply those together and deduct that amount from the 7m x 5m. and that will get me to the correct answer
That is correct. Nice approach!
your videos are super helpful! i just had a question about #3. why didn't you add other half circle and only added one?
Resume watching at 20:10 for the explanation.
@@bcraftmath i kinda understand, so 210 counts for both sides? you wouldn't need to add 210 twice?
Since we are dealing with the circumference, two half circles make a whole circle.

I really find your videos helpful.I will be taking my teas test soon. Please can you help me solve this:
A gift box has a length of 14 inches, a height of 8 inches, and a width of 6 inches. How many square inches of wrapping paper are needed to wrap the box?
You are trying to find the surface area of the box. The formula for surface area is.... 2lw + 2lh + 2wh = 2x14x6 + 2x14x8 + 2x6x8 = 488 square inches. I have some videos that cover various examples of this.... check out the first three videos from this search on my channel: ua-cam.com/users/blc0527search?query=surface
Can you post the link to the video discussing "circles"? My searches haven't been successful. And THANKS FOR THE VIDEOS!!
Check out www.bcraftmath.com and search there. It is the same stuff from here, but a bit more organized.
I may have removed some of the older circle videos. What exactly are you looking for regarding circles?
Hi Professor, at video 7:12 for the Perimeter, all the substantiated numbers seem fine, but looks like 1m for the 2nd rectangle inner height is missing while adding, so it comes 25m in total not 24m, please please clarify, this, thanks!
Don't add any "inner" pieces. Perimeter goes around the edge of the shape.
How would you find the area of a shaded region
Morgan Griffith around the 23:45 mark of this video, I cover an example of finding the area of a shaded region. No two examples are the same, but if there is a smaller shape cut out of a bigger shape, take the are of the big and subtract the area of the small. Sometimes the shaded area may be several different shapes combined together to form a "complex" shape. The general idea in that case would require breaking the complex shape up into shapes that are easier to find the area of.
I also got accepted into nursing school 😭
Nice! Congrats!
Brandon Craft thank you so much!
congratulations
congrats love!!!
I have a question: Since the TEAS test is timed (which is so stupid); what is the fastest and efficient way to do this math problem? I really suck at math to begin with and all this figuring out seems so long. Any tips or suggestions?
Which problem are you referring to in this video. When it comes to geometry, like a lot of math problems, practice is the best way to increase speed. Not only will it increase your speed, it will increase your confidence. DEFINITELY know your formulas for area, perimeter, and volume. If you use the incorrect formula, then there is no way the answer will work out correctly.
Hi,please where is 3.14 coming from that you substituted with the formula pie times diameter. Can you use the other formula which is 2 pie radius?
Absolutely..... pi times diameter is the exact same thing as 2 times pi times radius. This is true because 2 times radius IS the diameter. Hope that helps.
Brandon Craft Thank you so much for the quick response. So is it that anytime I see pie I should substitute with 3.14?
That's typically what is used for pi... If you have a pi button on the calculator, then you can use that instead.
I don't remember any of this 18 years since high school and I take my TEAS in a month. Can you tell me why again you didn't use that 7m on the 1st problem? Thanks.
We don't use the 7 for finding the area of the yellow or the blue rectangle because we have to break the 7 up into the two lengths that make the top part of the yellow and the top part of the blue.
when finding the area of the circle since the 4 is already the radius, why are you dividing by 2? thank you!
I am assuming you are talking about the half circle. Half a circle means that you need to find half of the area of a circle. That is why I divided by 2.
Hello Brandon! I am new to your channel, i had no idea someone with your knowledge existed here. i am taking the Teas Soon and i am a bit stressed about it. i have already watched about 85% of your videos to prepare. can you please help me solve this Qs .... Three numbers x,y,and 27 have a mean of 30. Five numbers x,y,27,a,and b have a mean of 45. what is the mean of of a and b? Thank you for making these amazing videos.
Hey there. If you haven't already, make sure to check out all of my TEAS math stuff at www.bcraftmath.com/atiteas
About your question... x+y+27 must be equal to 90 because the mean is 30. If the sum of THREE numbers is 90, and we find the mean by dividing 90 by 3, we get the given mean of 30.
So our first equation is x+y+27=90
The second equation x+y+27+a+b must be equal to 225. If the sum of the five numbers is 225, and we find the mean by dividing 225 by 5, we get the mean of 45.
So our second equation is x+y+27+a+b=225
Now... here is where things get real interesting.
From the first equation, we already know that x+y+27=90. We can substitute that into the second equation, giving us a new equation.
90+a+b=225
Subtract 90 from both sides.
a+b=135
Since the sum of a and b... two numbers... is 135, we can find the mean by dividing 135 by 2. Therefore the mean of a and b would be 67.5
With all of that said, I do not think you will see a problem that is this challenging on the TEAS. Hope it helps though!
Wow! I had no idea that’s how I was supposed to do it. Thanks a lot! I am planning to watch all your videos before I go take the Teas! Thank you for the fast reply
@@dianewema7642 You bet. Good luck!
Hey Brandon, quick question regarding calculating perimeter.
Why wouldn't this work?
From yellow: P = 2(5m) + 2(3m) = 16m
From green: P = 2(4m) + 2(1m) = 10m
Total: 26m
I understand the way you do it in your video, but logically, this should have worked as well but obviously doesn't...
Since the "two" rectangles are touching, we can't use the 2l + 2w formula. You are counting the 1m twice when it shouldn't be counted at all. That 1m is the spot where the two retangles touch.
Hey professor Brandon for the first question involving the area and perimeter, I tried doing it the other way but I got a 22 instead of 19
I had :
A= 3*5 = 15m^2
A = 7*1 =7m^2
but I had a 22. Am I missing something?
thanks.
If you do 3x5 for the left part, you don't use the"entire" 7 for the smaller part. You would have 4x1. Double check around 2:40 to see how I did it.
@@bcraftmath thanks
hi Brandon my question is. is it always the formula is "3.14" ?
3.14 is an approximation for 𝝿 . (pi) When using a formula that has pi in it, you can use 3.14.
For perimeter question 1- why didn’t you use 2(l+w)?
P=2l+2w only works when you have single rectangle and not a "complex shape" such as two rectangles together.
Brandon Craft thank you so much. Your videos are incredibly helpful!
@@mariaalonzo1333 You bet! Glad the tuts help!
Hello. I am a bit confused. I though that the formula for a circle is C=(3.14)x's radius squared?? I see that he is using the other formula but for the formula I just mentioned isn's the radius supposed to be squared? Why didn't he write that?
Which part of the video? The area is pi×r^2 and the circumference is 2×pi×r.
@@bcraftmath. Hello, when you first start talking about what the formula is for the circumference of a circle. It is written without the (r)squared. In my ATI book it says that r is squared. Thank you so much for getting back to me so quickly. Is it possible for me to send you a direct email? Also, I am taking my first TEAS exam in 2 weeks and I need so much help. In problem #1 Why did you subtract 7m from 3m?
Start playing the video at the 3 min mark... and once you get to the 4 minute mark, I explain why this is the case. It's hard to explain by typing but we need to subtract to find the length of the missing piece that I mention just before the 4 min mark of the video.
20.3 * 2 = 40.6 but I around it to 41.0 is that correct
