    same thing happened to me. I was introduced to a skincare that ruined my face. Its been more than a year, and I still have so many closed commedones. Ive used tretinoin, benyzol Peroxide, and doxycycline antibiotics. I don't use comedogenic products anymore, and I am taking care of my diet, but I still have a lot of closed comedones. Help.

    As a teen my skin was easy, once I reached my 30s it’s been dry skin, acne and hyperpigmentation. I was lucky enough to find a Dr. who is of African descent and focuses on our skin. It took me a while to find her.
    She has changed things, less is more, gentle cleaners, I use tretinoin, sunscreen w/niaminicide during the day, unscented moisturizers wit ceramides/ hyaluronic acid and my skin has improved dramatically.

    Wow that’s horrific that any dermatologist would do a treatment like that. You should not be pressing and extracting on compromised skin. That goes beyond even working with dark skin....just knowing how to work with skin in general. I’m pale as a ghost and if someone were to do extractions on me after exfoliating, my skin would be raw, bleeding, and terribly scarred also. Glad you’re making such good progress though!! 💗

    • @jallowlovette
      @jallowlovette  3 роки тому +2

      I found some more pics today and i am horrified at how raw and inflamed my skin was. Tbh this derm has all the “right” paperwork and qualifications so i dont know how this could have happened. And main difference with pale skin and dark skin is that our skin goes into hyperpigmentation as it heals, so treating those dark marks took even longer even after the skin had healed. I am very distrustful now of who i go to and if they cant show me inages and proof of a track record of working on skin like mine i just terminate.

    • @nataliefletcher6719
      @nataliefletcher6719 3 роки тому +1

      I agree totally!! It’s unbelievable how so many derms and estheticians are unaware of how to handle different types of skin and treat different conditions.

    Girl I totally understand, I’m the fairest of fair but I got damaged to by going to a doctor who was supposed to be so good... he put me on adapalene after I told him of a reaction I had to it and he said no stay on just use it with this other product...so I stupidly stayed on it and it destroyed my skin! I now have red/pink pigmentation that I’m working on getting rid of. Plus I have a bunch of closed comedones I never had before...so I’m trying to figure it out 🤦‍♀️

    • @jallowlovette
      @jallowlovette  3 роки тому

      Wow wow wow! Adapalene gel worked for me but i know it doesnt work for all. Have you tried azaleic acid? I am using alot of cosrx products and i know they have a whitehead serum my friend uses that reduced the comedones. Have you taken any medications as well? I had to take tetralysal daily which worked on my comedones as well.

    • @mirinaxo1663
      @mirinaxo1663 3 роки тому +1

      @@jallowlovette yes I’ve been trying azeliac acid for awhile with not much luck so far, but we’ll see. But the Inky lists PHA toner seems to be starting to help with the comedones so 🤞 And no I took antibiotics about 16 years ago and it damaged my stomach permanently so I highly advise against that. It can cause antibiotic resistance which is scary. So no pill form medication for me. But I will look into the CosRx product, thanks for letting me know about that 😊.

    • @jallowlovette
      @jallowlovette  3 роки тому

      Oh no! I was only allowed to use it for a month. And i think the rest of the topical products really helped. This is late but the same happened with me, I purged for like a day or two in the 1st week, but after that the purge stopped, no dryness, no irritation, no nothing. So I looked more into what I was using in my skincare routine, so apparently I used to use a soap cleanser but I switched to a herbal cleanser (Himalaya Neem) that's more gentle because I was using adapalene. So I stopped using this herbal cleanser and I started purging, so the herbal cleanser that contained neem & turmeric clashed with adapalene. I'd suggest using no other actives except adapalene when you're using it.
