The system needs to change, with having the conflict of interest dynamic that often has men with authority…(law enforcement) who will more likely identify with the abuser (male who craves power).
Way too often, women have been dismissed, invalidated, not believed, when sexual assault, violence, occurs.
Who wants to depend on similar people to help you, as who hurt you? Seriously?
There needs to be HUGE reform in this area. The irony is that these men, who act like they ‘already know’…arrogance…often are very ignorant to all the aspects, neuroscience, of abusers and the abused. Essentially, they will look at the variables in the equation they already agree with & throw out the rest. Which…leads to an erroneous conclusion.
It should be, that there are women who respond to any domestic violence too, that they all have intensive nervous system, attachment theory, training, and learn to call out their own biases, cognitive distortions, and narratives.
Having authority figures who think they have nothing to learn…are dangerous.

@cataniamommaitalia87 I usually argue against people in the comments that blame the family (unless its blatantly clear), bc its a bit of a nono in our justice systems (and for good reason), where the actual person is the one that commited the crime and not the family. That came with our justice systems, from enlightenment.
But in this case, since you are not directly hostile to the family, but build a generalised case, with good arguments, i agree.
Unfortunately this has all become common in western societies, mainly because of feminism, abandoning church, and other.
Its interesting how you point out you learnt your daughters to think reason and logic. Specially because i think you are a mother. Females traits are mostly in the emotional by nature and its a more male trait to be in the logical realm. That makes it all the more impressive what you say, specially in this day and age, where female emotions rule the world

He was married and he went hiking with an old girlfriend? "Honourable Men" do not go and harass girlfriends in their place of work to the point that they have to be asked to leave. How men and women behave in the military is different to how they behave with their intimate partners. People have to understand that. I've seen people much loved by their community and church and beat their partners to a pulp behind closes doors. We never show our full selves to our families and many others and jealousy, envy, rage can change one's mind to do unbelievably cruel things.

And calling him “a hero that SAVES lives in war”??! Does this pathetic excuse for a man not even know what happens in a war?! Just cause he helped an injured comrade doesn’t mean he wasn’t killing other people left and right during his time served (opposition army or not it’s still people being murdered in a war). He’s delusional beyond hope. Pretty much explains the failure his son was. Thankfully the epilogue delivered us all the much wanted justice hearing that the murderers were given life without parole. It’s a shame they even got 12 years of freedom when they belonged in jail all along.
