There are a few reasons for not wanting to just replace it. Maybe can't find a color match or if it's through like a rental place all that supplies is probably already there so it's highly unlikely they had to actually go out and buy the machine to clean it it was probably already there making it cheaper to clean vs. Being replaced

I raised 3 boys at home and hundreds of children at my daycare, which takes care of 50 children each day, for 32 years, children do not randomly p ee here and there if they are potty trained, if they are not, keep a diaper on them , gross people.

I would not advise anyone do this to urine soaked carpet for many reasons.
Unless you are also replacing the pad and sealing the subfloor, all of that cleaning would be a waste of yours and the customer's time and money.
