What if they made a tournament of power mode? Where you would basically have to fight waves of fighters from different universes, like 8 at a time until they’re all defeated. It could be a real battle royale

It would basically be a hybrid between tenkaichi tag team and xenoverse. Something made specifically so that the game can better appeal to multiple generations
If they make the game anything like the other Tenkaichi games, they probably won’t care about balance and he’ll probably be one of the better characters in the game.
my prediction is what they’ll do is similarly to how broly can has super armor but when he gets attacked by super saiyan 3 goku (and characters stronger than ssj3 goku), his super armor is automatically broken. maybe ultra instinct goku will dodge a lot of the attacks by characters weaker than him, but when he’s attacked by someone on the same level or above him, he will either get attacked right away or dodge a few of their attacks. (for sake of balance, i think characters on his level and above should automatically hit goku)
Main thing im looking forward to with Tenkaichi 4 is playing as Super Saiyan God Goku and Vegeta and playing the Goku Black arc. I hope unlike Xenoverse 2, they actually let you transform into both SSG and SSB from Base form and also have UI as a transformation rather than a separate character. That’s the main thing that turned me off from Xenoverse 2 is the fact that they had SSG, SSB, and UI as separate characters. I also hope they bring back the in game fusions!
one of the characters u didnt mention that didnt appear in previous BT games that i wanna see, is Vegeta GT.. he was always so cool to me and I wanted to experience him just like Goku GT, from base form up to Ssj4 and fusion.
I doubt it just because even tenkaichi 3 used separate slots for the same character like Majin Vageta and Super Saiyan 4 Vageta being different slots. The fusions will probably be a "Transformation" in both goku and vagetas moveset like how they were in 3
I see a looot of people expecting this game to have all BT3 characters and more. That is so ridiculously unrealistic. I feel like people don't have a notion of how many characters there are in BT3 alone and that it was a game built from 2 previous games. BT3 has around 100 individual characters without counting transformations for a lot of them. A best case scenario for launch BT4 in my opinion is to have a roster as big as the first BT with around 50 characters. That would already be a good number and after some years of good support we could see the 100+ roster people are expecting.
Yep. From BT1 to BT3 was probably like a combined 4 or 5 years of development for 3 games that were released within a span of 3 years. It's arguable that had the BT series came out a gen or two later that BT2 or BT3 might not even has existed due to their content being DLC for BT1. BT2 and BT3 were mostly content upgrades with some gameplay tweaks from the first game. They used the same code and assets in the same engine. BT4 is coming out an entire 3 console generations later. We are currently sitting at 15+ years since BT3 came out on PS2 and Wii. This new game is going to have a new engine, new code, new assets, etc. For all intents and purposes it's best to look at it as a reboot as it will be starting from the ground up on a lot of things. Maybe eventually it will reach and perhaps surpass the roster size of BT3, but it's completely unrealistic to expect and demand that the base game will at launch.
@@Finfection Completely agree with all you said. People seem to be missing the point that it took 3 games for that huge roster and that this will be like a reboot like you said. But there's a concern that raises with how DLC works nowadays. The advantage BT1 to 3 had as games was that they had an opportunity each game to refine everything. If we take Xenoverse as an example though the first game was extremely broken and janky so fortunately they still made a second one but after that XV2 got dlc update for years, making a bigger roster but a lot of big issues spoken out by the community were never fixed because some of them would take a lot of work. So even though XV2 has had updates for years and years. Most people kind of gave up or lost interest because the important stuff to fix from launch never had an opportunity to get updated with a XV3. Let's just hope this Budokai Tenkaichi doesn't fall into the same fate, at least it's being made by different developers so perhaps...
That's kinda what I was hinting at when I say it's near impossible for them to include EVERYONE all at once. It would be amazing if they could, but you two spelled it out perfectly by saying this is a new iteration of a series that hasn't had a new installment in over two console generations, so everything is running on different engines and things are just different than how they were 16 years ago.
I think the SSB Kaioken will kinda work like how spirit bomb did in a sense, can charge up stacks of KK (goes up by increments, x2, x5, x10, x20) each buffing slightly more but costing more health. I'd assume there's be a way to cancel it too

It worked like that in Raging Blast too. Every time you used the Kaioken move it increased from Kaioken to Kaioken x2 to Kaioken x3. Stuff like Kaioken x20 was relegated to his Kamehameha. It could work the same for Blue Kaioken, but replace x2 and x3 with x10 and x20.
I could see Sorbet, Dr Hedo, Cheelai and Lemo using blasters for ki blasts. Since Yadjirobe and Mr Satan couldn’t do ki blasts so they threw rocks instead. I really hope they go crazy with the roster once again

Idea: Cutsomizable Movesets for Base Characters. B1: Kaioken (Attack/Defense/Speed Boost) B1: Give Me Energy (Spirit Bomb Charge) B2: Kamehameha B2: Meteor Combination (Changes depending on Kaioken level) Ultimate: Super Kamehameha (Becomes Spirit Bomb once "Give Me Energy" is used and changes to Large SB, Super SB depending on how many stacks of "Give Me Energy" is used.) This could keep them from splitting Goku into variants like BT3 or having a million variations like XV2.
6:20 I disagree with that idea “All kaioken forms should be a transformation”. They should instead make it a power up like RB1 and 2. Unless you mean blue kaioken because thats considered as its own form.
I’d be fine with whatever as long as I can play as Kaioken for longer than 10 seconds. If they do individual fighters, you could have basic Kaioken, Super Kaioken, and Kaioken Blue. Then all of them could have those power up techniques to increase power multipliers
the team attacks in this game are going to be insane if they do them right. hit and ssg goku, frieza goku and android 17, vegeta and future trunks, etc. the thought of the things they can do are so damn exciting man
Maybe they could introduce a new mechanic where if you have characters on your team, you could combine moves with them even if the characters never interacted before in the show. That'd be real cool
I think it will have a lot of characters, but it won't have the same characters as BT3, it will probably get rid of a lot of the characters that aren't exactly important/some characters from db
That was kinda my thought, they’d take out a good chunk of the OG DB and GT characters, get rid of people like Appule and Frieza Soldier, and focus on DBS instead. But if they wanted to or if there was enough people wanting those old characters back, it’s easy DLC imo

As small or unimportant as it sounds, I really want the SS "fluffy" hair. It looked so dope and was part of, which EVERYONE will agree, Goku's greatest SS transformation EVER when he fought against android 19. Both trunks and Goku had it when they first met as well. It was such a small detail they added in Tenkaichi and spoke volumes to this day that the people who made it were fans as much as we were. I hope they don't skip over KK Goku's character as well. Especially KK namek Goku. Totally different from earth KK Goku. Nobody is really talking about KK Goku and that worries me.
I like the fluffy hair style too. I remember a long time ago i was playing BT3 and noticed that Goku(end) and Goku(Mid) had different hair styles which makes it really cool, it distinguishes the two types like the fluffy style being more raw and untrained and the later more golden defined one being the mastered one.
Another thing that would be really cool to see thanks to things like DLC, and you somewhat touched on this with Android 21, but I would love a full Heroes DLC. Xeno Trunks go all the way up to SSGod assuming Heroes doesn't give him SSBlue by then (Maybe have his long and short hair looks as different costumes), Xeno Goku an adult Goku who uses the power pole and can go SSJ4, Mira, Towa, Demigra, Fu, Hearts, Chronoa, maybe one of the XV CaCs like Ace.
I honestly would love it, if they include Tagoma and DBS Ginyu as the same character. Imagine a transformation sequence, Tagoma lands on the ground, looking at the little frog who wrote "change" in the dust and give us the opportunity to try the same character with another moveset. I think this would make this character/s very uniuqe in gameplay and presantation. I also hope to see not only the characters from BT3 returning, but also from Raging Blast 2, like Cooler's Armored Squadron (and not only Salza) as well as Android 14 and 15 joining Android 13 again. And if we already talk about side characters, Goku's Mom Gine and Kid Raditz would be some of my favorites together with DBS Bardock. After all we got Fasha in BT3 and we never really saw her fighting anyway, at least in her base form.
As nice as manga characters would be, that feels like a pipe dream sadly. Especially since games like Heroes, Legends, and Dokkan use all sorts of extended universe, filler, and non canon stuff, but they never use any Super Manga stuff even though a lot of them have been out for awhile.
I would love BT4 to have... - Catopesra. It would be fun to see how different he'd feel depending on what form he is. - General Rildo. I just think he's very underrated and the dude's got three forms too. - God Broly. Simply because he makes LSSJ3 obsolete. It is the same thing, only better; with cooler hair. :P
Great video. I like that youre actually realistic about this character roster. Instead of other youtubers just saying WE WANT THE BIGGEST CHARACTER ROSTER EVER. Quantity isnt always quality. These are my thoughts tho: - Putting the og dragonball, movies, and gt characters as dlc is a good idea - I like the idea of playin as Whis but he (and to some extend also Beerus) should have gimmicks and shouldnt be ko'd when you beat him, because he's an angel. I dont have to play as Vados tho. - Kaioken as a seperate character? No thanks. But maybe if you use it once the aura can remain a little longer or something or you get a permanent damageboost but it does affect your health. Another gimmick. I want this game to have gimmicks - I dont need all the gods as playable characters but it would be a Dope dlc. Regarding Zeno and Grand Priest, you're right that wouldnt make sense. But you can put at least a few destruction gods in there why not. Sidra, Quintela and the clownguy should be enough. - Manga Dlc pack is GENIUS. The filler non canon packs too
Thanks for your comment, glad you agree with most of my thoughts! Regardless of what they make DLC, or what they decide to add or leave out, I just hope this game lives up to the hype. At least for me, because I know several people are gonna be disappointed if it has a smaller roster or if it doesn't have certain modes.
I really like the idea of choosing different moves and costumes for the different versions of characters. I just hope that the transformations, depending on when they happened in the saga have their own unique animations like in Tenkaichi 3 when they were direct references to the show/manga
I agree with this list and I 100% want heroes characters we don't have to go insane but stuff like CUMBER, FU, Mira, Towa, HEARTS, Golden Cooler. Insane forms like these are just fun to interact with

Lauch is gonna be Dbz and Dbs up to the end of ToP. Dbs manga, Dragon Ball, GT, and movies will be sold as "Story packs" where you can unlock extra characters. DBZ movies will most likely be at launch
The characters I want most are: Adult Trunks and Goten from Dragon Ball GT, General Rilldo with his Meta form, Goku and Piccolo Jr from the 23rd Tenkaichi tournament (which Piccolo being able to turn into his giant form), Tien from when he was evil because he has techniques he stopped using later on like growing extra arms, and maybe even Shorty and Scarface even though they are forgettable character that only appeared in one episode (they would definitely get a great ape form)
All are good choices! It'd be cool if Piccolo got his regular giant form, especially since it's likely we'll be getting Orange Piccolo and maybe that giant form too. The more forms for Piccolo, the better
Regarding the Tournament of Power, while I'm dead confident we won't get the entirety of every team, I do think it's plausible we could see at least one or two characters to represent every 'jobber' universe (basically every universe besides 6, 7, and 11, lol). Especially if they're faithful to the mindset of the older BTs which enjoyed cramming lots of very odd character choices in. Or maybe that's just hopium for me, because besides U10 I did at least enjoy the lesser universes in terms of visual design. Also, I'm fairly certain that because U11 is one of the main universes in the ToP, we can probably expect their God of Destruction and Angel (Belmond and Marcarita) to also be on the roster.
As happy as I am that you mentioned my favorite characters that should be playable, but honestly two other fighters should be playable as well, Ganoz who fought Rossi and Ribrianne who also has a giant form.
I hope that all the DB, Z, GT, Super, all movies n OVA characters are included in the base game. But what they should bring in as DLC should be characters from Super DB Heroes, n original characters from other DB games of other developers. So that we have no shortage of possible dream matches in this era.
My Top 10 most requested characters for Budokai Tenkaichi 4 in no particular order. Beast Gohan. Ultra Ego Vegeta. Gamma 2. Time Breaker Bardock. Xeno Goku. Orange Piccolo. Bulma. Catopersa. Aniraza. DBS Bardock.
All those would be great picks, Bulma would be really interesting too if they gave her a mech suit or something like what they did with Pilaf in Tenkaichi 3.

100%, his Mode Change technique would be really interesting and they could either make it part of his core moveset or they could give him individual transformations based on each mode. Whatever they do, he has potential for a very diversified play style
I don't think there's even a remote chance that GT is saved for DLC, considering how much the original games helped to lift the SSJ4 forms into their revered status today
So long as they have a packed roster of Super characters on launch, and they give generous content for a fair price, I think DLC is the way to go. Lotta new and old characters, unreasonable I think to expect them all to be fully realized in the base game. Makes more sense to release expansions over time.
Same here, Moro has such potential for a diverse moveset and with all his forms, it's almost as if he'd be a different character each time he transforms.
Forms should be customizable. Like Saiyan characters that have never had a ssj form atleast get level 1, such as Raditz, Nappa, Turles and King Vegeta. Hypothetical forms could also be sold as dlc such as Golden Cooler, 5th form Frost, Golden (Silver) Frost. 5th form Frieza and King cold forms 1-5 Hero transformations such as Long hair Turles, Ssj4 broly, Limit breaker ssj4 and so on. BT4 has a lot of potential to be every fans fantasy DragonBall game. I just hope they don't let us down
To further add to gameplay mechanic, add unique characteristics and drawbacks to each form. Ssj1 increases durability (as well as power and speed), Ssj2 increases ki blast and speed, ssj3 increases basic damage and ultimates at cost of ki generation and stamina slowing down. Ssj4 could be a form maintained but if knocked out of form, character suffers serious debunks God forms have ki drain
I have more of a mechanics wish list than characters: Would like to be able to free aim Ki blast for target leading, be able to use beams to propel yourself, do 2v2 or 1v3 including beam struggles with multiple people at once, wall running and jumping, ability to break lock-on so you can do sneak attacks or earn yourself time to charge, would like to create a ki-mass by constantly firing in the same place, and be able to detonate that mass with a super attack, allow us to aim where we throw our targets, and be able to combo into and off of throws, explosions and transformations to have some kind of blowback.
I really hope they don’t split characters into eras. The customization option is definitely my preferred method. Allow me to mix and match special moves and costumes? Yes please.
I personally prefer the era style as it makes choosing a character more ordered as well as adds a character hierarchy so it's more clear about which characters are better then others.

@@thememeilator2633 Choose the character, either pre-made or custom move sets that include 2 special moves and 2 support moves, your ultimate and which transformation branch you go through. If your primary concern is balance, well personally I find Tenkaichi is not really a game meant for competitive play, but wanting a more balanced game is valid. They could pull a Smash Bros. and have a mode for more balanced competitive matches, where you can’t really customize the character. And then they can have another mode for more fun and whacky stuff like seeing Boo Saga Vegeta bust out the Ascended Saiyan form with a Final Shine from GT as an Ultimate, or Goku in his Yardrat armor going Ultra Instinct. Stuff like that. I just don’t want certain super moves and costumes locked away from me just because the character wasn’t wearing that during that period. It sucked that to play my main, Ultimate Gohan, my only options for costumes was the orange Gi while the other grown up Gohan had more Ki blast and costume variety.
If DBZ broly is dlc (he most likely will be) I just wanna be able to play as his restrained form and transform into his legendary form because it would be more fun
If they do bring back all the characters via dlc they should do it in a generous way though I feel like if the game is 60$ give us a big roster but if it’s small I expect a small price tag and as for dlc price I believe 5$ per arc or dlc
being a long time fan of bt3, i completely agree with jus about everything that’s stated in this video. i would hate the fact that they release DLC packs after packs but i still would buy them jus to have the option of playing them with friends.
The only two things i love them bring back is the planet explosions and planet beams from DBZ UT but the is moro(73 absorbed) and goku(super sayian grade 2 ) i believe thats what super vegeta was in the cell arc and im hoping they bring in some super dragon ball heroes characters in too like SSJ4 broly and etc
It's sort of disappointing to have people instantly focus on huge rosters, instead of communicating the idea of wanting better, improved gameplay. There's many aspects where the tenkaichi formula should improve, and going by the latest Tenkaichi-esque games (Kakarot, Xenoverse) the movement, physics, hit detection, flow of movement, momentum is still just as janky as it was in the PS2. And when we've had games with such amazing, free flowing aerial combat like Zone of the Enders 1 & 2 for nearly 20 years, fans should really put pressure on devs to improve the "Dragon Ball Z combat experience", making it more immersive. This should be the priority.
I'd actually like if there were a proper balance between having a big roster and quality gameplay. Personally, I've never really minded the gameplay aspects of Tenkaichi 3 aside from a few nitpicks, I think it's a fun game for beginners to get into and it's tough to master. It's definitely no FighterZ, but I feel like all these previous games have been ways for them to test the waters and see what works, and what hasn't.
Bring back the what if characters! I want Cell (Krillin absorbed) from OG Budokai, Buu (Frieza absorbed) and Buu (Cell absorbed) from Budokai 2 and Tien/Yamaha fusion from Budokai 3!
I hope tenkaichi 3 is on PS4 cuz it actually pays attention to the movie characters considering you can play as 1st form Janemba and full power BoJack and compared to the new games they actually have Z Broly's transformations instead of only having full power
Do you think they will be adding dragon ball heroes forms such as masked ssj4 broly and new character as Cumber as some form of a DLC pack, I think that would be realy cool if they did so.
this is so hype, i love it. but im gonna cry if they release dlc for the game and its stuff that the previous games already had (like kid goku) but now we have to pay upwards of 50 bucks just to get something that existed in the first place. i want the game to take its time and really be about the gameplay rather than the money making. but i doubt that would be the case.
They could have a good mix of both if they play their cards right. If they include older characters as DLC, they’d have to make them worth buying. New moves, more polished gameplay, more costumes, stuff like that
I PRAY they keep the gigantic roster. It was my absolute favorite thing about the game. I would literally goof around local multi player just messing with characters from Dr. Wheelo to Goku ssj4. For DLC I’d hope they make the packs solidly sized rather than just 2 characters for 5 bucks like xenoverse. I’d hope they make a movie pack with all the movie characters or split it into two parts for like $10 each, who wouldn’t buy that? It’d profit easy to. Win-Win. I’d think of it like the expansion packs for destiny if anybody here has played that. Maybe one expansion for each era and a few packs here and there for filler or one-offs. Also I loved the side characters and varying sizes in the older games. I miss the gag characters to. I’d love to see maybe a character or two for the semi-notable universes in tournament of power (obv more notable verses will probably have more), such as having the main wolf guy that fought gohan. The beauty of tenkaichi 3 was being able to choose from nearly everyone and they all felt relatively unique.
Its either DLC packs or the company loves the fans so much they add all those characters the same way as part 3 but just have to unlock through cheat codes and playing through the game
kaioken should really be left as a power up and appear shortly for some attacks like in bt3. the power up emphasizes ki management which is something goku does in the anime too. a better ki drain system would be better than making him just his own character
I think the only character from the original Dragon Ball not in BT3 that I'd want to see playable is Kami, in either his true form or possessing Hero. From GT, adult Goten was a notable absence in BT3, and having other GT characters like Ledgic and Eis Shenron would be great. GT Vegeta also only had SSJ4, so having his base and Super Saiyan forms would be neat. The only DBS characters that you didn't mention that I'd want are the Universe 6 Namekians, they'd be easy to make if they're just semi-clones of Piccolo.
Crazy thing is if they bring the whole rooster of bt3 back then add like 5 characters from each super arc as the base the game and didn’t change anything gameplay wise the game would instantly be at least a7/10

Haven't watched Super, so i can't really comment on that. Though i'm all for as many new characters as possible in a new Tenkaichi game! Big part of the appeal of Tenkaichi is the huge roster. Don't understand why some people want a smaller roster, there's so many other games with smaller rosters they can play. One character i've always thought was wierd they didn't add in Tenkaichi 3 is Chichi, when she's older fighting against Goku in the tournament. Remember she was playable in another Dragon Ball game, so it's always felt like she was missing. Though just a very minor nitpick. When it comes to balance, i think the best way to do that is having 1-9 categories from weak to strong. Like weight classes in fighting sports. The original games already had a rating system like this, it could just be added to Online. So you can put the setting in a server so only 7 rated characters can be chosen, or 3 rated characters, etc. That way you avoid Mr Satan/Hercule being paired up against super sayians, etc. Would love more costumization options. Where you can pick different attacks and power-ups that're canon to the characters. Also take note of the Xenoverse series where you can make your own character. Having more rewards and something to spend money on in game would be great too. Problem with Tenkaichi 3 is all you really use money on is things like faster ki charge or more power, things like that. I'd like to buy different costumes, different attacks/abilities, different colour aura or different colour lazer beams, etc. Then there's an incentive to earn money and keep playing. More stages would be interesting. As i haven't watched Super, it'd be cool to see new locations. Maybe a new tournament mode. Some type of co-op mode would also be really cool. Always wanted to be able to play co-op through the story. Where one player is Goku and the other is Piccolo against Raditz, as an example.
Im not crazy about the dlc idea but I have to accept that. I hope we get Bergamo base and that gives us another giant character. Also, one that didn't get mentioned, Cumber/Kanba. that'd hit different for me.

It's low key busted with how it works, dude legit absorbs ki, he just had the misfortune of going against the main cast but it's not hard to see why he's the strongest in his universe. It took ssb Goku to overwhelm him, thats not nothing, lol. that's a scary ability in DragonBall hands down.
Let’s see we could have Orange Piccolo and Beast Gohan, teen Gotenks and by extension teen Goten and Trunks, Cus and Marcarita, SSJ4 Vegito and Blue evolution Gogeta or their Limit breaker SSJ4 forms, SSJ4 Gohan Broly and Bardock, Ultra Ego Vegeta and Granola, Merus, Cell Max, Android/Majin 21, Android 35, any of the other Gods of Destruction, the return of Tiencha, Golden Cooler, Black Janemba, Black Frieza, possibly SSJ4 variants of the universe 6 saiyans which by extension would include them, Gine, Yamoshi, Fasha, Tarble and maybe the Supreme Kai’s of Time Chronoa and Aeos just to name a few characters that I would love to see that’s if the game takes off and is handled correctly even with some of these being DLC
As long as their is all the super transformations and saiyans, and more than 200 characters and transformations total, I’m willing to pay 150 bucks for this game!
I would mostly like to see Orange Piccolo. Piccolo is my favorite Z fighter and I remember always wishing he could transform in tenkaichi 3 when i would play him. Giving him his ultimate form and Orange would be great to me
If your going to include some of the more side characters in the movies we need characters like turles' crusher corps, lord slugs army and cooler's armoured squadron
You have more of a chance of Super Dragonball Heroes characters being in than DBS manga character because of licensing. Manga characters are still under the Shueisha license, therefore Toei won't have access to them until they're in the anime or movies

It would basically be a hybrid between tenkaichi tag team and xenoverse. Something made specifically so that the game can better appeal to multiple generations

They might just make him block everything automatically but if your ki is too low you'll get broken
my prediction is what they’ll do is similarly to how broly can has super armor but when he gets attacked by super saiyan 3 goku (and characters stronger than ssj3 goku), his super armor is automatically broken. maybe ultra instinct goku will dodge a lot of the attacks by characters weaker than him, but when he’s attacked by someone on the same level or above him, he will either get attacked right away or dodge a few of their attacks. (for sake of balance, i think characters on his level and above should automatically hit goku)

Main thing im looking forward to with Tenkaichi 4 is playing as Super Saiyan God Goku and Vegeta and playing the Goku Black arc. I hope unlike Xenoverse 2, they actually let you transform into both SSG and SSB from Base form and also have UI as a transformation rather than a separate character. That’s the main thing that turned me off from Xenoverse 2 is the fact that they had SSG, SSB, and UI as separate characters. I also hope they bring back the in game fusions!

I see a looot of people expecting this game to have all BT3 characters and more. That is so ridiculously unrealistic. I feel like people don't have a notion of how many characters there are in BT3 alone and that it was a game built from 2 previous games.
BT3 has around 100 individual characters without counting transformations for a lot of them.
A best case scenario for launch BT4 in my opinion is to have a roster as big as the first BT with around 50 characters. That would already be a good number and after some years of good support we could see the 100+ roster people are expecting.
Yep. From BT1 to BT3 was probably like a combined 4 or 5 years of development for 3 games that were released within a span of 3 years. It's arguable that had the BT series came out a gen or two later that BT2 or BT3 might not even has existed due to their content being DLC for BT1. BT2 and BT3 were mostly content upgrades with some gameplay tweaks from the first game. They used the same code and assets in the same engine. BT4 is coming out an entire 3 console generations later. We are currently sitting at 15+ years since BT3 came out on PS2 and Wii.
This new game is going to have a new engine, new code, new assets, etc. For all intents and purposes it's best to look at it as a reboot as it will be starting from the ground up on a lot of things. Maybe eventually it will reach and perhaps surpass the roster size of BT3, but it's completely unrealistic to expect and demand that the base game will at launch.

But there's a concern that raises with how DLC works nowadays. The advantage BT1 to 3 had as games was that they had an opportunity each game to refine everything. If we take Xenoverse as an example though the first game was extremely broken and janky so fortunately they still made a second one but after that XV2 got dlc update for years, making a bigger roster but a lot of big issues spoken out by the community were never fixed because some of them would take a lot of work.
So even though XV2 has had updates for years and years. Most people kind of gave up or lost interest because the important stuff to fix from launch never had an opportunity to get updated with a XV3.
Let's just hope this Budokai Tenkaichi doesn't fall into the same fate, at least it's being made by different developers so perhaps...
That's kinda what I was hinting at when I say it's near impossible for them to include EVERYONE all at once. It would be amazing if they could, but you two spelled it out perfectly by saying this is a new iteration of a series that hasn't had a new installment in over two console generations, so everything is running on different engines and things are just different than how they were 16 years ago.
I think the SSB Kaioken will kinda work like how spirit bomb did in a sense, can charge up stacks of KK (goes up by increments, x2, x5, x10, x20) each buffing slightly more but costing more health. I'd assume there's be a way to cancel it too

It worked like that in Raging Blast too. Every time you used the Kaioken move it increased from Kaioken to Kaioken x2 to Kaioken x3. Stuff like Kaioken x20 was relegated to his Kamehameha. It could work the same for Blue Kaioken, but replace x2 and x3 with x10 and x20.
I could see Sorbet, Dr Hedo, Cheelai and Lemo using blasters for ki blasts. Since Yadjirobe and Mr Satan couldn’t do ki blasts so they threw rocks instead. I really hope they go crazy with the roster once again

B1: Give Me Energy (Spirit Bomb Charge)
B2: Kamehameha
B2: Meteor Combination (Changes depending on Kaioken level)
Ultimate: Super Kamehameha (Becomes Spirit Bomb once "Give Me Energy" is used and changes to Large SB, Super SB depending on how many stacks of "Give Me Energy" is used.)
This could keep them from splitting Goku into variants like BT3 or having a million variations like XV2.

If they do individual fighters, you could have basic Kaioken, Super Kaioken, and Kaioken Blue. Then all of them could have those power up techniques to increase power multipliers
the team attacks in this game are going to be insane if they do them right. hit and ssg goku, frieza goku and android 17, vegeta and future trunks, etc. the thought of the things they can do are so damn exciting man
Maybe they could introduce a new mechanic where if you have characters on your team, you could combine moves with them even if the characters never interacted before in the show. That'd be real cool

As small or unimportant as it sounds, I really want the SS "fluffy" hair. It looked so dope and was part of, which EVERYONE will agree, Goku's greatest SS transformation EVER when he fought against android 19. Both trunks and Goku had it when they first met as well. It was such a small detail they added in Tenkaichi and spoke volumes to this day that the people who made it were fans as much as we were. I hope they don't skip over KK Goku's character as well. Especially KK namek Goku. Totally different from earth KK Goku. Nobody is really talking about KK Goku and that worries me.

I like the fluffy hair style too. I remember a long time ago i was playing BT3 and noticed that Goku(end) and Goku(Mid) had different hair styles which makes it really cool, it distinguishes the two types like the fluffy style being more raw and untrained and the later more golden defined one being the mastered one.

Another thing that would be really cool to see thanks to things like DLC, and you somewhat touched on this with Android 21, but I would love a full Heroes DLC. Xeno Trunks go all the way up to SSGod assuming Heroes doesn't give him SSBlue by then (Maybe have his long and short hair looks as different costumes), Xeno Goku an adult Goku who uses the power pole and can go SSJ4, Mira, Towa, Demigra, Fu, Hearts, Chronoa, maybe one of the XV CaCs like Ace.
I honestly would love it, if they include Tagoma and DBS Ginyu as the same character. Imagine a transformation sequence, Tagoma lands on the ground, looking at the little frog who wrote "change" in the dust and give us the opportunity to try the same character with another moveset. I think this would make this character/s very uniuqe in gameplay and presantation.
I also hope to see not only the characters from BT3 returning, but also from Raging Blast 2, like Cooler's Armored Squadron (and not only Salza) as well as Android 14 and 15 joining Android 13 again.
And if we already talk about side characters, Goku's Mom Gine and Kid Raditz would be some of my favorites together with DBS Bardock. After all we got Fasha in BT3 and we never really saw her fighting anyway, at least in her base form.
As nice as manga characters would be, that feels like a pipe dream sadly. Especially since games like Heroes, Legends, and Dokkan use all sorts of extended universe, filler, and non canon stuff, but they never use any Super Manga stuff even though a lot of them have been out for awhile.

Great video. I like that youre actually realistic about this character roster. Instead of other youtubers just saying WE WANT THE BIGGEST CHARACTER ROSTER EVER. Quantity isnt always quality. These are my thoughts tho:
- Putting the og dragonball, movies, and gt characters as dlc is a good idea
- I like the idea of playin as Whis but he (and to some extend also Beerus) should have gimmicks and shouldnt be ko'd when you beat him, because he's an angel. I dont have to play as Vados tho.
- Kaioken as a seperate character? No thanks. But maybe if you use it once the aura can remain a little longer or something or you get a permanent damageboost but it does affect your health. Another gimmick. I want this game to have gimmicks
- I dont need all the gods as playable characters but it would be a Dope dlc. Regarding Zeno and Grand Priest, you're right that wouldnt make sense. But you can put at least a few destruction gods in there why not. Sidra, Quintela and the clownguy should be enough.
- Manga Dlc pack is GENIUS. The filler non canon packs too

The characters I want most are: Adult Trunks and Goten from Dragon Ball GT, General Rilldo with his Meta form, Goku and Piccolo Jr from the 23rd Tenkaichi tournament (which Piccolo being able to turn into his giant form), Tien from when he was evil because he has techniques he stopped using later on like growing extra arms, and maybe even Shorty and Scarface even though they are forgettable character that only appeared in one episode (they would definitely get a great ape form)
All are good choices! It'd be cool if Piccolo got his regular giant form, especially since it's likely we'll be getting Orange Piccolo and maybe that giant form too. The more forms for Piccolo, the better

Regarding the Tournament of Power, while I'm dead confident we won't get the entirety of every team, I do think it's plausible we could see at least one or two characters to represent every 'jobber' universe (basically every universe besides 6, 7, and 11, lol). Especially if they're faithful to the mindset of the older BTs which enjoyed cramming lots of very odd character choices in. Or maybe that's just hopium for me, because besides U10 I did at least enjoy the lesser universes in terms of visual design.
Also, I'm fairly certain that because U11 is one of the main universes in the ToP, we can probably expect their God of Destruction and Angel (Belmond and Marcarita) to also be on the roster.
I think SSJ Goku Black will likely be playable and for DLC I could definitely see Tarble and A21 be added to the game

100%, his Mode Change technique would be really interesting and they could either make it part of his core moveset or they could give him individual transformations based on each mode. Whatever they do, he has potential for a very diversified play style
I don't think there's even a remote chance that GT is saved for DLC, considering how much the original games helped to lift the SSJ4 forms into their revered status today
So long as they have a packed roster of Super characters on launch, and they give generous content for a fair price, I think DLC is the way to go. Lotta new and old characters, unreasonable I think to expect them all to be fully realized in the base game. Makes more sense to release expansions over time.

Forms should be customizable. Like Saiyan characters that have never had a ssj form atleast get level 1, such as Raditz, Nappa, Turles and King Vegeta.
Hypothetical forms could also be sold as dlc such as Golden Cooler, 5th form Frost, Golden (Silver) Frost. 5th form Frieza and King cold forms 1-5
Hero transformations such as Long hair Turles, Ssj4 broly, Limit breaker ssj4 and so on.
BT4 has a lot of potential to be every fans fantasy DragonBall game. I just hope they don't let us down
To further add to gameplay mechanic, add unique characteristics and drawbacks to each form. Ssj1 increases durability (as well as power and speed), Ssj2 increases ki blast and speed, ssj3 increases basic damage and ultimates at cost of ki generation and stamina slowing down.
Ssj4 could be a form maintained but if knocked out of form, character suffers serious debunks

I have more of a mechanics wish list than characters:
Would like to be able to free aim Ki blast for target leading,
be able to use beams to propel yourself,
do 2v2 or 1v3 including beam struggles with multiple people at once,
wall running and jumping,
ability to break lock-on so you can do sneak attacks or earn yourself time to charge,
would like to create a ki-mass by constantly firing in the same place,
and be able to detonate that mass with a super attack,
allow us to aim where we throw our targets, and be able to combo into and off of throws,
explosions and transformations to have some kind of blowback.

If your primary concern is balance, well personally I find Tenkaichi is not really a game meant for competitive play, but wanting a more balanced game is valid. They could pull a Smash Bros. and have a mode for more balanced competitive matches, where you can’t really customize the character. And then they can have another mode for more fun and whacky stuff like seeing Boo Saga Vegeta bust out the Ascended Saiyan form with a Final Shine from GT as an Ultimate, or Goku in his Yardrat armor going Ultra Instinct. Stuff like that.
I just don’t want certain super moves and costumes locked away from me just because the character wasn’t wearing that during that period. It sucked that to play my main, Ultimate Gohan, my only options for costumes was the orange Gi while the other grown up Gohan had more Ki blast and costume variety.
If DBZ broly is dlc (he most likely will be) I just wanna be able to play as his restrained form and transform into his legendary form because it would be more fun

It's sort of disappointing to have people instantly focus on huge rosters, instead of communicating the idea of wanting better, improved gameplay. There's many aspects where the tenkaichi formula should improve, and going by the latest Tenkaichi-esque games (Kakarot, Xenoverse) the movement, physics, hit detection, flow of movement, momentum is still just as janky as it was in the PS2. And when we've had games with such amazing, free flowing aerial combat like Zone of the Enders 1 & 2 for nearly 20 years, fans should really put pressure on devs to improve the "Dragon Ball Z combat experience", making it more immersive. This should be the priority.
I'd actually like if there were a proper balance between having a big roster and quality gameplay. Personally, I've never really minded the gameplay aspects of Tenkaichi 3 aside from a few nitpicks, I think it's a fun game for beginners to get into and it's tough to master. It's definitely no FighterZ, but I feel like all these previous games have been ways for them to test the waters and see what works, and what hasn't.
Bring back the what if characters! I want Cell (Krillin absorbed) from OG Budokai, Buu (Frieza absorbed) and Buu (Cell absorbed) from Budokai 2 and Tien/Yamaha fusion from Budokai 3!
I hope tenkaichi 3 is on PS4 cuz it actually pays attention to the movie characters considering you can play as 1st form Janemba and full power BoJack and compared to the new games they actually have Z Broly's transformations instead of only having full power
They should definitely remaster all the games and bring them to newer consoles. It's an easy way for them to make money

The fact that bt3 had the most characters I EXPECT THEM TO HAVE MORE IN BT4 AND I BETTER BE ABLE TO UNLOCK THEM FROM STORY MODE

Do you think they will be adding dragon ball heroes forms such as masked ssj4 broly and new character as Cumber as some form of a DLC pack, I think that would be realy cool if they did so.

this is so hype, i love it. but im gonna cry if they release dlc for the game and its stuff that the previous games already had (like kid goku) but now we have to pay upwards of 50 bucks just to get something that existed in the first place. i want the game to take its time and really be about the gameplay rather than the money making. but i doubt that would be the case.
They could have a good mix of both if they play their cards right. If they include older characters as DLC, they’d have to make them worth buying. New moves, more polished gameplay, more costumes, stuff like that

I PRAY they keep the gigantic roster. It was my absolute favorite thing about the game. I would literally goof around local multi player just messing with characters from Dr. Wheelo to Goku ssj4.
For DLC I’d hope they make the packs solidly sized rather than just 2 characters for 5 bucks like xenoverse. I’d hope they make a movie pack with all the movie characters or split it into two parts for like $10 each, who wouldn’t buy that? It’d profit easy to. Win-Win. I’d think of it like the expansion packs for destiny if anybody here has played that. Maybe one expansion for each era and a few packs here and there for filler or one-offs.
Also I loved the side characters and varying sizes in the older games. I miss the gag characters to. I’d love to see maybe a character or two for the semi-notable universes in tournament of power (obv more notable verses will probably have more), such as having the main wolf guy that fought gohan. The beauty of tenkaichi 3 was being able to choose from nearly everyone and they all felt relatively unique.
If manga characters got added, would Gas be adult form or old form?
The more I think about the many characters in the budokai tenkaichi series the more I get excited for this new game

I don’t see how no one is talking about Bardock, SS form, SS3 Form, sorry, but he is one of my favorite characters.
Its either DLC packs or the company loves the fans so much they add all those characters the same way as part 3 but just have to unlock through cheat codes and playing through the game

kaioken should really be left as a power up and appear shortly for some attacks like in bt3.
the power up emphasizes ki management which is something goku does in the anime too. a better ki drain system would be better than making him just his own character
That's most likely what's gonna happen. Kaioken being a separate character is mostly wishful thinking from me
I think the only character from the original Dragon Ball not in BT3 that I'd want to see playable is Kami, in either his true form or possessing Hero. From GT, adult Goten was a notable absence in BT3, and having other GT characters like Ledgic and Eis Shenron would be great. GT Vegeta also only had SSJ4, so having his base and Super Saiyan forms would be neat. The only DBS characters that you didn't mention that I'd want are the Universe 6 Namekians, they'd be easy to make if they're just semi-clones of Piccolo.

Crazy thing is if they bring the whole rooster of bt3 back then add like 5 characters from each super arc as the base the game and didn’t change anything gameplay wise the game would instantly be at least a7/10
There's a lot of potential for this to be the biggest DB game ever, I hope they capitalize on that fact
Really just need damaged clothes worlds and blood and also customization options from auras to kais to create your own characters from god of destruction to supreme kai
Haven't watched Super, so i can't really comment on that. Though i'm all for as many new characters as possible in a new Tenkaichi game! Big part of the appeal of Tenkaichi is the huge roster. Don't understand why some people want a smaller roster, there's so many other games with smaller rosters they can play. One character i've always thought was wierd they didn't add in Tenkaichi 3 is Chichi, when she's older fighting against Goku in the tournament. Remember she was playable in another Dragon Ball game, so it's always felt like she was missing. Though just a very minor nitpick.
When it comes to balance, i think the best way to do that is having 1-9 categories from weak to strong. Like weight classes in fighting sports. The original games already had a rating system like this, it could just be added to Online. So you can put the setting in a server so only 7 rated characters can be chosen, or 3 rated characters, etc. That way you avoid Mr Satan/Hercule being paired up against super sayians, etc.
Would love more costumization options. Where you can pick different attacks and power-ups that're canon to the characters. Also take note of the Xenoverse series where you can make your own character. Having more rewards and something to spend money on in game would be great too. Problem with Tenkaichi 3 is all you really use money on is things like faster ki charge or more power, things like that. I'd like to buy different costumes, different attacks/abilities, different colour aura or different colour lazer beams, etc. Then there's an incentive to earn money and keep playing.
More stages would be interesting. As i haven't watched Super, it'd be cool to see new locations. Maybe a new tournament mode. Some type of co-op mode would also be really cool. Always wanted to be able to play co-op through the story. Where one player is Goku and the other is Piccolo against Raditz, as an example.
Im not crazy about the dlc idea but I have to accept that. I hope we get Bergamo base and that gives us another giant character. Also, one that didn't get mentioned, Cumber/Kanba. that'd hit different for me.

It's low key busted with how it works, dude legit absorbs ki, he just had the misfortune of going against the main cast but it's not hard to see why he's the strongest in his universe. It took ssb Goku to overwhelm him, thats not nothing, lol. that's a scary ability in DragonBall hands down.

Let’s see we could have Orange Piccolo and Beast Gohan, teen Gotenks and by extension teen Goten and Trunks, Cus and Marcarita, SSJ4 Vegito and Blue evolution Gogeta or their Limit breaker SSJ4 forms, SSJ4 Gohan Broly and Bardock, Ultra Ego Vegeta and Granola, Merus, Cell Max, Android/Majin 21, Android 35, any of the other Gods of Destruction, the return of Tiencha, Golden Cooler, Black Janemba, Black Frieza, possibly SSJ4 variants of the universe 6 saiyans which by extension would include them, Gine, Yamoshi, Fasha, Tarble and maybe the Supreme Kai’s of Time Chronoa and Aeos just to name a few characters that I would love to see that’s if the game takes off and is handled correctly even with some of these being DLC

Susanoo ki Goku is definitely a pipe dream character for me. Tenkaichi is the perfect series for a form like that to exist

I would mostly like to see Orange Piccolo. Piccolo is my favorite Z fighter and I remember always wishing he could transform in tenkaichi 3 when i would play him. Giving him his ultimate form and Orange would be great to me

Out of all those guys, we only saw Cooler's Armored Squadron in Raging Blast 2. Would love to see them all make an appearance though!

You have more of a chance of Super Dragonball Heroes characters being in than DBS manga character because of licensing. Manga characters are still under the Shueisha license, therefore Toei won't have access to them until they're in the anime or movies
