I always said, BT 2 story mode plus 3’s character roster would be the perfect game. Then add in super characters
DBZ Kakarot but with multiplayer should've happened tbh...

Fun fact about the Spirit Bomb:
Once, I was playing as Goku vs. Great Ape Vegeta and had charged my Spirit Bomb energy with the Blast 1 move lend me your energy to the maximum (3 times I believe). I teleported in the sky to launch the attack, BUT just like in the show; Vegeta blasted me with a mouth blast! Goku was hit BEFORE launching the bomb. I looked back up at the sky and the Spirit Bomb energy was reverted to a Level 1 sized charge!
Just like in the show, getting hit before launching the attack causes Goku to lose some of the energy that's already been gathered!
Use it with max ki in kaioken. It literally does 5x the damage.
I got somewhat a similar story, this was the first time I ever played a DBZ game *period* so I wasn't anywhere close to good. I just brute forced my way through the Saiyan and Frieza sagas. By the time I got to Cell I got the game registered in my brain.
But, I was fighting Nappa and my roster was dropping like flies. So as a desperation move, I used "Goodbye, Tien" as Chiaotzu, and it basically did jack and shit to Nappa, and all I could do was finish him off with Tien.
3:35 this is why they shouldve included all the shadow dragons in the story mode , even in bt3 but all we got was Nova 😢
I think bt2 story combined with bt3 story system but better will be awesome
This game brought the Dragon Universe back from Budokai 3 where you fly around the map! Kakarot would have been better with that feature instead of the World Map
Never forget Goku saying "hey, You came!"
I wish the games had like Tenkaichi 1 character models with Tenkaichi 2s story mode and then have all the characters of Tenkaichi 3 all in one.
I wish they would give bt2 the bt4 treatment to improve the story
Despite all the DBZ games that have come out over the years, BT1 has the most badass and authentic Intro of all of DBZ games of the Franchise. BT2 and BT3 in my opinion still remains the most Unique and the best DBZ games in terms of content, quality and fanservices. And from the gameplay perspective aspects, these DBZ games that I mentioned are very close to the anime itself because of the Vibe and Charm, I don't know how to describe it but it was, and still is the most Unique DBZ experience you could have with the combat factor. (- Sheer amount de of characters
- Transformations mid-battle (powering up and down)
- Fusions mid-battle
- Fast gameplay that has that "woah" feel
- Tons of extra content
- Story mode covering all sagas + movies
- What If sagas
- Shenron having permanent impact on game (character unlocks and whatnot)
- Great tournaments that rotate availability
- Edit characters with items (buffs)
- 5v5 battles
- Really Great and Epic Soundtracks
- Destroyable environments
- Entire stages could be blown up into their "destroyed" alternatives
- Mission 100 being a great challenge
- Artwork is 10/10
- Sound effects are great
- Combat feels heavy and satisfying) Only Budokai 3, Infinite World, Raging Blast 1 and 2 and PSP DBZ games are still considered also very solid DBZ games, also the hidden gem that a lot of DBZ fans missed from PS2 Era of DBZ games is "Super Dragon Ball Z" which is also a real Unique and DBZ game, especially for the different gameplay aspects perspective. ✌☯️
As someone who played the entire trilogy this is truth BT2 had the best story mode while BT3 had a better roster and ngl some really good what if stories.
I just finished replaying the story mode yesterday and man was the Tenkaichi series such a fun series even going back to it as an adult. I agree the Goku dialogue when you first open Dragon Adventure is annoying af to where I got accustomed to spamming X to skip 😂 my only complaint with 2 that I think is why 3’s story mode was made shorter is it was annoying having to manually play thru the movie segments before being able to advance to the “canon” stories like having to play 3 movie sagas before moving on to Buu saga. I like how 3 put the movie missions in an optional space to where you could choose if you wanted to play them or not which I only really liked playing Bojack, Broly, Cooler, and of course Fusion Reborn segments

I actually always loved Goku’s dialogue when you first open up Dragon Adventure. Maybe I’m just bias cuz i can’t ever hate it.
I like that you have to play through the movies to get to the main one, I didn't like the what if stories though

Always felt that BT2 had superior story mode play with those great what-if arcs, but BT3 has the stronger character roster. If only they had put them together!

This game is what got me into DBZ. I love this game. I was really disappointed with the bt3 story being to simple.
And the music wasn't near as good either, but other than that the combat was A1

Idk if I would call being able to use future transformations in earlier battles a flaw, I think it was an intended fun feature. Like how you could go ssj4 vs. raditz in budokai 3 lol.
Yeah you have to unlock them first anyway, so you can't transform into ssj the first time you fight Raditz

I loved Tenkaichi 2 enough to bring it to my school's show and tell lmao, and I loved Tenkaichi 3 even more. Something that I did always miss was the story mode. I remember playing Budokai 3 and being so excited to see the overworld sections in the story. A real shame T3's story is mostly generic besides for the What If saga, but there's thankfully enough content everywhere else to make up for that in spades. Also idk if this is an unpopular opinion but I absolutely love how the ki charge looks in T2, and I also feel like the different camera placement made things easier to see overall. Your character takes up so much more space on screen in T3.

Yeah I never understood that criticism either. I love DBZ, I love the story, I want to play through that story and BT2 does that perfectly
I always said this game has the best story bt3 had best roster Bt2 story equipping items and training to max level was way ahead of its time for bt2 and the music and character screen with trunks sword 🗡 and the cover art with trunks sword with goku reflection in it was mind blowing 🫠

Ah I remember playing Tenkaichi 2 when I was a kid. To bad my PS2 died way back when and I lost this game thinking about buying it for the Wii but, I’m not blinded by nostalgia does any one know if the Wii port is the same as the PS2 version just asking. Also very good review.
ive only played the wii version a few times at my friend's house when i was a kid, its overall the same except obviously you can do special moves and what not by actually moving ur body, having to actually do kamehameha irl to execute it in game is fun haha

the only thing lacking in this game which was better in bt3 was the abundance of characters. i mean just for goku there is only one base form in which even the spirit bomb is the saiyan saga one

I keep asking myself why until today they didn't even announce tenkaichi 4? While I'm sure they'd take content out to sell as DLC, it would be nice to revitalize this classic.
I even know of an improvement that they could implement in the game, which is something that has in the "raging blast", which is to put four specials for the characters, and in case some have more than four, you can change the specials in the selection of characters. This is just one idea among many, because if you look at all the dbz games released after tenkaichi 3, there's no shortage of ideas. Yes, I know I'm dreaming big.
Well Tenkaichi 4 is real now. Hopefully they do it justice

Tenkaichi 2 story mode is like Budokai 3, but worse. So many loading screens and tiny areas to talk to one NPC with generic dialog. I see the appeal in concept but in execution it’s like death by loading screen.
It's ok but it's to long. I've seen it all before. I'll take Xenoverse over it cause it has twists
tenkaichi 2 was actually the only way I had access to the story of dragonball z for a while.
I didn't know gohan turned into a great ape, that Vegeta used to be a villain, what's a broly/cooler/bojack/ss4/bardock/gogeta/janemba/pikkon.
it's to this day, the most comprehensive db story mode ever.

@@kusakabe3264that’s why I love BT2, it’s the most comprehensive by far, even with limitations like outfits and characters it tries to tell the story and include as many fights as accurately as possible, it’s so commendable
I mean no offense to those who agree with the video, but Kakarot does the story of Dragon Ball Z better and Xenoverse 2 has much better game play to the Tenkaichi series (#Hottake)
