- Im calling this desk the "Holly Desk". This simple design consists of a solid top with a single drawer which sits atop two, mortised three-legged trestle/saw horses. It's constructed of Heart Pine and clear stud lumber with a Cherry drawer pull and has an aromatic Cedar drawer bottom. Thanks for watching, Please Subscribe for more. Enjoy!

Very kind, thanks for watching!
Nice work, thanks!
Great Work! what type of finish did you put on the table?
Thanks for watching! The finish I used was a matte, water-based poly by Minwax.
@@ChristopherTrybus thanks
You aren't concerned about wood movement on flatsawn boards cross grain construction?
Yes it was definitely a consideration and a choice I wouldn’t normally make. The underside of these boards weren’t as pretty. Eventually this desk will end up a work station in the greenhouse for my wife and her botany/garden projects. She thinks it will look nice when it warps so I’m ok with it.. I installed some adjustable screw feet on the legs so when it does warp I can still keep it flat on the ground.
Thanks for watching and thank you for the comments! I am aware of the effects that glue will have on this over time. And I do understand alternating grain on the top is desirable most of the time. My choices were all conscious decision, not mistakes. The image I have for the end product will be revealed over time. Planned intentional failures. If I wanted it to last 300 years I would have used hardwood.
