- This is a replication piece based off of my original Serial # 2 build many years ago. This was my first time utilizing inlays with veneers, and certainly not my last. This was built as an everyday use desk that should stand the test of time.
- 30 BF Sapele (Mahogany)
- Tiger Maple drawer sides
- Beaded drawer fronts
- Hand-cut, half-blind dovetails
- Maple inlayed legs, drawer fronts and top
- Gold hardware
- 4 finish coats with wet sanding
- 42 hours of construction

Thank so much, Elizabeth!
Beautifully done ❤ amazing attention to detail 😊 first time I'm seeing one of your videos. I'll have to look up more and subscribe 😊
Thank you so much, Janna! And I truly appreciate the support!
It's interesting that you started with the legs first. Not bad or anything I just always start with the main box of the furniture and then do legs. Maybe I'll give that order of operations a shot on my next peice. Incredibly beautiful buddy! Fantastic work
That really is an interesting question 🤔. Not sure to be honest. lol. Never really thought about it. But now I am!!
@@RPBasilio haha now good luck not thinking about that the next time you start something
Absolutely gorgeous work with a challenging wood like Sapele!
Thanks, Sean 👊👊. Every time I work with Sapele, I love it more and more

That was a really nice piece
Absolutley stunning... Well done!
Haha - thanks so much!
Congrats amazing job.
Great piece, if hadn’t purchased a desk you would have been an outstanding choices, one again great job. Oh love the way you list your materials.
Thank you so much, Keith! I appreciate that you would have considered me for that purchase!
Everything is perfect. You did it well 👏👏
Thank you 🙏
Outstanding work. Good luck with the drawer frame. I think it might be ok, might. Maybe space the dowels closer together to minimize the width of the cross grain constriction? I plan for my pieces built in humid Georgia to eventually find their way to the Arizona desert. When putting that level of work into a piece that will last generations, that one joint would worry me. The other set of legs, i would do a sliding dovetail and only put glue for an inch on one end.
When i saw that, i thought you were a hack. Then I watched the rest of the video. Legendary craftsmanship. Rob would be proud..
Beautifull work sir
Very nice. Great work with the inlays.
Thanks, man. My first attempt so some nerves are shot. Haha
That is very nice. I like the three drawer design. I might have to borrow that.
Thanks! Borrow away!
Great work as always!
Thank you!
I love the inlay work! Beautiful piece. I really enjoy watching your channel!
Thanks, man - just subscribed!
@@RPBasilio thanks for that! I’ve never cut a dove tail in my life, but that is my goal. I am fascinated by traditional joinery. Thanks so much for the sub and your service!

beautiful
Beautiful!
Thank you, Jan!
1. Very well structure, informative and entertaining video. 2. Some really interesting joinery ideas for me to think about there. 3. Q? Does the inlay across the grain cause expansion issues.
Thanks, Danny! The inlay question is a good one, but I’ll have to see how it plays out as this is the first time I have tried this technique. I would have to believe, however, that the inlay is small enough that any issues would be minimal. 🤞
You have a nice looking marking knife, why are you using a utility knife to mark the dovetails? I actually like the blue tape trick to outline the pins and tails. You would think the joints would be tighter.
Nice.
I Like your style
Thanks, Kyle 👊👊
Beautiful just beautiful. Carry on Sarge, carry on.
Truly appreciate that, William!
Damn dude. You literally just stepped it up several notches. Amazing work brother.
Thanks, man 👊👊. The best part is that I was able to buy new tools to get this one built. 😂
