Building an oak bonsai stand from scraps

- In this video, I use white oak lumber from a furniture maker's garbage pile and some reclaimed hardwood flooring to make a beautiful bonsai stand. I use almost exclusively repurposed or reclaimed wood for my projects. For me there's nothing quite as satisfying as turning garbage into art. Wonderful work :) and that is a really cool flip cart as well
Thanks! It’s one of my favorite things I’ve made. 😁
Great job, would have liked to have seen it with a bonsai on it. Cheers
Great idea - next time!
Very cool
Thank you very much!
Nice work! I think you've inspired me to make a similar stand to raise Buddha off my shrine onto a more distinguished perch! I'm thinking that my scrap pile has enough walnut for the stand, and paduak splines would look nice! Thanks for the inspiration!
That’s awesome! I’m so glad you were inspired!
Very beautiful work, thanks for sharing it with us
My pleasure! Thanks for watching! :)
Nice work. I can't help thinking that you should have a greater contrast between the mitre keys and the rest of the piece. I think this would make the piece more attractive.
Thanks very much, and I fully agree. The splines were supposed to be more contrasting, but the stain ended up making them nearly the same color as the rest of the stand. Thanks for watching!
That was a good job done. Even after more than 45 years woodworking, I learn something from every video. Mostly, it’s something not to do but, in your case, I enjoyed every element. Would I have to differently? Of course. Would I have done it better? No.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Thanks very much!
Very nice!
Thanks very much!
Good job!
Thanks for watching!
Really nicely done, great finish on it too. What stain is that if you don’t mind me asking?
Thanks very much! That's Varathane Dark Walnut stain. I used to use Minwax, but my local home center switched to Varathane a few years ago. I like Varathane better anyway.
@@BethesdaWoodworks Thank you :)
