  • Quite an outside solo from Brad Mehldau's 2018 album Seymour Reads The Constitution!. A lot of interesting superimposed harmonies, as well as some nice voicings - especially in the head. I transcribed the head and piano solo, but couldn't leave out one of the trade 8s, where Brad plays some insane harmonies: I just love the voicing in bar 213, like a Gmaj9/Fmaj7 with an Ab (or G#) on top (or Fmaj13#11#15 add#9 I guess).

      Yes! I rediscovered that video while making this, but intentionally didn't watch it before posting. Turns out I was completely wrong about the lh voicings in the beginning of that part, June Lee's version makes a lot more sense. Oh well
