Brilliant writing, you could see where Donna was headed as the episode progresses. She was troubled and needed help but was rejected by almost everyone. Drugs provided an escape from her reality and eventually it was a fatal escape. She came to Walford looking for answers and what she received, sent her over the edge.
Shame they killed her off so quickly. I honestly never knew Ian and Ben had a sister until I saw iit on the wikia/fandom page. It is a shame she was killed off whilst Phil lives on as a zombie after his constant alcoholism and drug addiction. He is one of the only ones who survive things that have killed previous characters. He is not as good as he used to be. His car business has been failing for years, he has no pub and his relationship with Kat is nonsense.
Actually, yes you bleeding would. Hello, everything EastEnders did in all the years of the 80s it was around was brilliantly memorable. EastEnders died rapidly in the last years of the 90s, holding out until about 2002 when all point, consistency, reality and drama left it for an indistinguishable loads of Hollyoaks nonsense. And Donna is as remembered as anybody in a show that left us long ago. That thing still going by the name (should be done for fraud) is no more authentic or she show than the last 3 decades of music is actually a music scene.
Donna was a tragic footnote who managed to alienate everyone during her time in Walford. A lost young woman who got caught up in lies, drugs and manipulations. It all ended badly for her........
Well today’s episode on Thursday the 25th July 2019 Donna was mentioned after 30 years. Kathy said to Rainie that her daughter died of a drugs overdose.
I wasn’t born till 1992.. so this completely shocks me!! I can’t believe and never knew Ian had a sister!! Nor did I know about Cathy having a daughter!! Madness!! I think this is the most “gruesome” and heartbreaking endings I’ve ever seen and come across in Eastenders!! WOW!!
I completely agree, she was so misunderstood by everyone apart from Dot. Donna didn't deserve to be treated like that by the residents of the square or suffer such a horrific death.
Donna didn't know at first she was a result of a rape. She just reminded Kathy of her trauma. Donna just couldn't understand that. Donna was very selfish and thought everyone owed her. She didn't care about Kathy's pain
@@mariahoness9410 what about Donna's pain and suffering? Kathy should have had an abortion if that is the case! she gave birth to her it's only natural for her to want her mother! what an idiotic statement.
Donna was so desperate to be accepted as family by Kathy and Pete, She used to lie and scheme to get what she wanted. She underestimated everyone and it cost her dearly because she didn't realise she would be rejected.
I remember watching this... and I'm just realising that I had some pent up trauma because of how I saw Donna laying dead with all that vomit around her mouth. Damn that nostalgia I experienced paused time and felt horrifying!
This is sad, Ian has forgotten about her sister ages ago, why didn’t he helped her and she could have stayed alive, so…, Ian has a step brother and a step sister, remember it was Simon was the step brother L, but it was David not Simon, I like the way they wrote it.
@@meradceusad thing is she was assaulted again onscreen , the assault from her pregnancy was offscreen , Kathy was r**ped twice. Wilmott brown r**e wasn’t the father of Donna
Damn, this storyline was probably the best of the 1980s next to the Den & Angie stuff. Donna was disturbed by the trauma of not fitting into where she was adopted, or where her roots were. Today, there'd be more sympathy for her regarding her obvious mental health issues and trauma. She was messed up by discovering she was the product of a rape.
Mr beans girlfriend . I was only 4 when this went out so don't remember Donna. Thought Ian was an only child only dawned on me when repeats started I thought she looks familiar
@@Kyleeeeeeeee This was when I stopped watching EE ... found that story line too depressing and this was the point when EE became all about its doom and gloom
Donna was his half sister, she was the result of his mother, Kathy being raped at 14 by a Music Teacher called Marcus Duffy. Kathy gave her up as she couldn’t cope with the circumstances of what happened and rejected her again when she came into her life.
Kathy was so selfish. Any normal woman would have had maternal feelings for their long lost daughter. Raped or not. Kat loved Zoe with all her heart and she was conceived of rape by her own uncle! I just don’t think Kathy is particularly caring person.
She was brought up away from London by a middle class couple ( as apposed to the Working Class demographic that Eastenders was portraying ), hence her being more well spoken than the rest of the Square.
The sctress made a fatal mistake saying she liked the Benny Hill Show in the BBC canteen :-/ This show just seemed to normalise ultra grim dysfunctionality.
