THANK YOU for watching!! Just a note, the reason these recipes are gluten free is because Tom has found that pasta (and chocolate) trigger headaches and migraines, so we try to avoid pasta, but still consume other forms of gluten :) And we'd love it if you shared your favorite Instant Pot recipes, it is always nice to have new things to try!!! Thank you!! :) Find the recipes & detailed instructions here: www.ithinkwecouldbefriends.com/2019/03/08/5-easy-whole-food-instant-pot-recipes/
Thanks for taking the time to right all the recipes down. So many UA-camrs aren't as organized as you are with your videos. And I'm so glad you shared the veggie trick. My daughter would literally throw up at the table too if we tried to make her take a bit of veggies!!! Wow, so glad we're not alone. You're too clever with fixing the veggies they wouldn't eat, in a way that makes it easier. Totally doing this. These are exactly the videos I've been looking for, for over a yr! You're definitely needed here on UA-cam girl! And it IS always those carrots! I started boiling mine and then tossing then into the rest of the meal. I want mine soft not half way cooked.
We've been on the fence on whether to get an Instant Pot but you have convinced us to go for it. Ordering it now through your affiliate link. Thank you for putting this video together. It was a big help!
I’m new to your show. I love listening and have similar values. I also must maintain a gluten free, dairy free and also peanut free meals/foods. I have less headaches and less pain. I will continue watching you. You’re such a joy!! May God Bless You in All you do. 💚💚🙏
My 2 year old saw your instant pot and the steam coming from it. He asked if it was hot. I said yes, so then he started blowing on my phone to cool it down. Just wanted to let you know in case your food got cold😆.
Thank you for this. The instant pot looks easier than I thought. I use frozen chopped onions- such a time saver, plus no worries of a piece dropping with a dog nearby😬. Just to share a tip, I had carrots and celery that were not going to last so I washed and cut them, froze on cookie sheet, then I tossed into freezer bag. I used them in my last soup and you couldn’t tell they had been frozen. That was a HUGE time saver👍👍
I love how easy the instant pot is to use. I use mine every day. I do not peel potatoes anymore. The instant pot cooks them so soft you don't even know they are there but the nutrients are retained. Saves time just give the potatoes a good scrub.
I must try it. What setting you use? And what kind of potatoes, do you dice them or whole? Can you make mashed potatoes out of it than without tasting the skin? Or you peel it afterwords?
A cool thing I just found out was that you can actually speed up or slow down youtube videos, and it really helps with videos I want to watch but the super slow talking is driving me nuts lol.
So good to here you give your kids the option of not eating at all rather than force them to eat what the don't like. My parents would make me sit at the table till my food was gone. After a couple hours I would fall asleep, and be carried to bed. 50 years later, I still have ever food issues.
My kids really enjoy oatmeal made with dried fruit in the instant pot. We use coconut milk and gluten free oats. Fresh fruit can be substituted for the dried at the end if you prefer. We also make beans that are fairly close to the taco truck in our area(that was our gold standard). Steaming veggies and whole sweet potatoes will be delicious once you convert your family. Tonight we did steamed sweet potatoes with chopped dates, cinnamon and coconut oil(or butter) or for a savory option you can add salt and pepper, avocado and spinach. I appreciate your videos. There is a kindness about you that I enjoy as well as seeing your love for your family.
@@lisareed5669 we are so used to using coconut milk as a replacement for dairy. I will say that quality can make a difference for what you’re using it for. The store ‘Sprouts’ sells coconut cream at a decent price, or it was before the COVID stuff. I make huge pots of soup ,ie Toscana, because I will freeze dry the leftovers for storage. I will always try to use one can of the cream and then just the rest of the canned coconut milk, I always buy the canned for cooking. I make a delicious curry, chicken, and spinach soup and the coconut milk is amazing. I don’t think my dishes taste like a coconut but there is an underlying, unoffensive, coconut hint. Everyone who has eaten at my house absolutely loves it. The only way to know is to start substituting canned coconut milk when the recipe calls for dairy. We use Trader Joe’s vanilla flavored rice milk for baking. Along the dairy free route, I make my own ghee and use this instead of butter. Butter tears my husband up and he becomes bedridden. Because I’ve cooked out all the milk solids the unsalted butter that’s now made into ghee no longer affects him. I use it in all my baking and cooking.I pressure can it for long term storage into 1/2 pint jars, it’s a good size for us. It no longer tastes like butter and does have a nutty flavor but again, our family has gotten used to the flavor. I first made boxed vanilla gf cupcakesI and everyone said they preferred the margarine more. I said I was no longer buying margarine and that’s just the way it is since my husband was mot affected by the ghee. They ate the rest of those cupcakes and no longer taste the difference. India uses ghee, it’s what they are used to, now my family uses ghee because it’s now what they are used to. I just bought 18 pounds of unsalted butter which I will be making into ghee and pressure canning next week.
I bought myself an Instapot after watching you and Lydia Senn. And I want to thank you. It’s the most amazing appliance ever. I was unwell yesterday so I threw all the ingredients for pasta fagioli into my Instapot and In only 30 minutes supper was cooked perfectly.
Thanks! Don’t feel so concerned about the critics. You are like the girl next door sharing your favorites. Anyone who complains about it - should be watching someone that claims to be a chef! Keep up the great work!
When my girls exhibited the "I don't like that!" stage this worked great. The rule was they had to taste it. If then didn't like it, I took it away immediately and said, "Oh, I''m sorry I thought you were old enough to like whatever it was." For years it was always a big deal when one of them said, "Guess what, Mom, I'm old enough to like tomatoes, or salmon or olives or whatever. They have done the same thing with their kids and now the great grandkids get the same story so we don't have food battles every meals. We celebrate a maturing taster when they are old enough to like something.
Have you tried creamy oatmilk instead? I haven't just had an idea. I stopped buying as much cows milk and included other versions now since kids are teens and less picky. I didn't even know non diary milk versions were such a good sources of calcium
@@JustOneDress Yes! People talk about how not catering to your child’s every food whim is abuse. It drives me crazy. Go to S Africa and see how they parent. It’s very eye opening to how people in the US have become over the years.
I knew a boy who wouldn't eat anything but pasta, chicken nuggets, toast, or fruit puree. When he was a little older, steak was added to his personal preference menu. Parents decided fruit was fine. And steak while on vacation and at a nice restaurant. I, on the other hand, was force-fed some foods and not allowed to leave the table before I finished. Nothing basic like spinach or broccoli, I always loved those. It was anything with raw onions, or strawberry yoghurt for dessert that really got me. And I would sit there for hours.
Hi,I’m new to instant pot,but not new to electric pressure cooking,my husband bought me a Bella 8quart 10in 1pressure cooker/slow cooker last year for my birthday,I was really upset because at that time ,instant pot was all the rave, still is,but of course I didn’t tell him that, but I do remember mentioning to him that I really really wanted an INSTANT POT lol guess he didn’t hear me but anyways,it worked out great,I ended up loving my Bella pressure cooker ,I used it almost every day ,my family loved my meals and thank you UA-cam ,every time I needed a recipe,UA-cam and google always came through for me,ok so now back to your recipes,my son actually heard me say what I wanted last year and when he was able to,he bought me a huge 8quart instant pot duo nova, yes I said INSTANT POT DUO NOVA,I never used any kind of instant pot before so to me duo nova didn’t mean anything until I starting using it,omg you have to get one,the valve you were saying was very intimidating, well on the duo nova, you turn the cover and it seals automatically,I absolutely and also what’s amazing is the button to release pressure is not even same one you seal, yup it’s amazing, all I have to do is push down on it and let it go,and if I need to stop the pressure from releasing,I just push it and it seals back up,omg I just love love love it,I made speghetti with sausages last night ,first time making pasta and I was so afraid because it was getting late and didn’t want to have to throw all the food out if I messed it up,but let me tell you,it was perfection,if you doen’t already have the I p duo nova,I suggest you get one,I know I will not ever cook any other way again ,oh and thank you for your receipes,I’m going to make the last one right now,I will get back to you on here and let you know how it came out, thanks
I love that you're gluten and dairy free like our family. I probably would never cook if I didn't have to because of allergies. I don't like anything about cooking so doing it as fast and easy as possible is a huge plus for me. Also hard to get something all the kids will eat but, I will try all of these because I think they will work.
I mostly use my IP for meal prep items... rice, boiled eggs, cook a whole chicken, then bone broth! Love it though. Also use the slow cook function still for some recipes, so I was able to declutter a couple other kitchen items that the IP replaces. So great!
This is a great nutrition/psychology video, too. I absolutely love the way you don’t necessarily sneak veggies in. You start off small and increase the amount in your recipes. Good video!
I used to make beef stew with just some peas so my daughters could adjust. Now I fry little pieces of bacon (without burning) put a whole bag of peas with salt and let it boil. In the end make four holes and put four eggs in it with some salt in thetop of the yolk. They love it!
I'm another one who had his Instant Pot in the box for six months before I started watching videos on UA-cam; now I cook in it at least once a week. My favorite IP dish is ribs - everybody's recipe is the same: 32 oz apple juice, 1 C apple cider vinegar, a slab of ribs, 22 minutes under pressure, remove to a sheet pan and coat with BBQ sauce, put in oven at 400 for 10 minutes. Perfect every time.
@@mbsdaigle I typically use something similar to this, which is waiting in my refrigerator right now: 2.85 lb slab of pork ribs. This package is often found on sale at Kroger.
i own 3 instant pots, my favorite soup is zuppa toscana (olive garden recipe with sliced potatoes and a bit of heavy cream, kale added after pressure cooking). after a holiday ham, I'll use the excess to make batches of split pea and ham soup, navy bean and ham soup, and left over augratin potatoes get turned into a potato, ham and cheese soup. all get put into ziploc freezer bags to eat down the road. my wife loves my use of the instant pot. Boeuf bourginion and pot roast are hits when i cook for a crowd of 12.
My mom gave me an IP for my birthday and I'm slowly learning how to use it. So far, I've made her "recipe". Chopped cabbage, potatoes, sausage (we like the chicken and apple) and sauteed onion ( I just add enough of each item to fill up the IP. Steam for 3 minutes and eat. I haven't added much in the way of spices yet, just salt and pepper to taste after.
You convinced me and I finally got an instant pot. It arrived today and I made your ham, broccoli and potato soup. It is so yummy. Thank you for sharing. My kids are terribly picky eaters and we are now dealing with this. You gave me motivation to set some boundaries. Thank you!
My husband and Mines favorite recipe for our pressure cooker is lemon chicken. I use olive oil, chicken tenders, onion, garlic, lemon, of course, chicken broth, salt pepper, and paprika.
My favorite pot too! 😀 Thanks for your recepies... I do goulash alot :onions, garlic, meat in cubes (pork or baby beef), carot and celery root (in cubes), potatoes (cubes), spices like red sweet pepper, salt, ginger, majoram, close it for 30 min or so and than put it off let open itself.... We love this!
I agree with Marie I love that you talk fast as well. So many times I don't watch all the way through as there speech is so slow. You are very modest I'v just come across your video's & liked & subscribed. I've had my instant pot about two years & use it everyday x
I was hesitant on getting the instant pot. I thought I would never use it and regret spending the money. I gave in and got one for Christmas this past year. I dived right it and cooked a whole chicken. 🐓 I’ve used it at least once a week since. Totally worth it’s price and space in my cupboards.
I now batch cook onions and garlic and freeze it in small containers, so I really only have to throw in all the ingredients when I'm cooking. I can set up a meal in 5 minutes 💪
I do the same. I also do an onion, garlic, carrot and celery blend and freeze it in one cup canning jars. I chop big batches in the food processor, and cook them in the crock pot (my husband is scared of the IP so I gave it to my neighbour).
I do this too! I use small glass jars for the garlic and put a bit of olive oil and defrost one at a time. For onions I separate them in quart ziplocks and flatten them so they defrost faster. Each ziplock is approximately 1 medium onion in each one.
My instant pot saves my life! I always forget to defrost my meat. I love that I can cook from frozen and not have to scrap my meal plan and opt for takeout.
I made the ham and potato soup recipie last night with a friend. This is so good! we threw in carrots because we had them, the brocoli at the start, 2 containers stock to cover it all, and cream at the end. So effortless and amazing. it made a lot, too, so i have soup for the week. Ill definitely remake this one.
PressureLuckCooking has taught me so much about using my IP. He puts veggies wrapped in aluminum foil on top of the rest of what's cooking and adds them after into the soup or gravy. Keeps the texture and yum. Six Sisters Stuff has good recipes for fast weeknight meals in IP. I appreciate your info. You have inspired me so much. THank you.
Just bought a Crux EPC a week ago and my first meal in it was your Ham & Potato Soup. My kids are picky and always groan on soup nights, but all of them (except the toddler who was too tired from a late nap) actually dug in and said the broth was amazing! My 11 yr old daughter (who hates ham & most anything chicken) said the soup was so good, I could sell it! I loved how easy it was to make and how cheap (especially using homemade broth), it was to make! Thanks for the tip about chopping broccoli fine and gradually increasing for picky eaters, that helped! I used 1/2 cup broccoli. I also bought the Kindle version of Eat Once Cook All Week and plan to do week 4 - Beef, broccoli, potatoes this week. Hopefully, they are even half as well received as your soup!🤞
Just another note to say, 'THANK YOU' for sharing these recipes, even though you've said meal isn't your "strength." Tonight's dinner was peaceful and joyful. It was wonderful to know I could make healthy, affordable meals my family would actually EAT!
I got my instant pot for Christmas and it never occurred to me that I could actually place the lid into the handle to save space on the counter. Thanks for sharing. I’m a big fan of your posts!! 🥰
Thank you for this post, I love my Instant Pot, but haven't mastered it yet so I love new simple recipes. I am new to your channel and am loving every video, thank you for sharing your minimalist journey! I have been struggling with the amount of stuff in our home for a long time and have purged so much stuff, but feel like I haven't made very much progress. Your videos are so inspirational and informative, it has been so helpful to show me how far I can really go with the purging without the fear of "what if I need it someday" or will my children have enough toys to keep them happy. Thank you again!!
If you hit the sauté button and then immediately hit the adjust button, then you can select the sauté heat level by pressing the adjust button again. It’s a great feature!
Hi there, vegan here. I am dairy free. Some of these soups' creams and cheeses can be swapped with regular soy milk. It gives it a nice creaminess. While nondairy cheese is an acquired taste, my husband and I find that it's good on a lot of foods!! Might be worth a shot =) gives you more protein from the soy milk too!! Coconut milk is also a good substitute.
I’ve been called an Instant Pot evangelist! I have 2 and have for the longest time seriously considered a 3rd! We love black beans and rice. Bone broth and chicken noodle soup gets made weekly from the whole chicken in there. The Dad Cooks Dinner chili recipe is super easy and fast, especially with the precooked ground beef from the freezer (your tip!). There is also a great shrimp risotto that I always have he ingredients on hand in case I don’t know what to cook. Ribs are great in there, as are whole pork roasts. We steam veggies, hard boil eggs, make cheesecake, and lasagne in it.. I’ve even made ricotta cheese and yogurt in it. Steamed lobster and mussels.. even made home made cream of mushroom soup which is incredible! My favorite part is that you can clean up the kitchen while you are cooking so the after dinner mess is nonexistent... and you are cooking while shuttling all the kiddos to their after school classes!
Wow, this is awesome Amie!!!! And yes! I too love that you can clean up the rest of the kitchen while it is cooking!! THANK YOU for sharing all of this!!!! :)
Laura Coleman truthfully I don’t use recipes anymore (I just wing it) and I looked for the original one I used and couldn’t find it. BUT, google Instant Pot shrimp risotto and there are some great recipes that are similar.
Yes! The INSTANTPOT! I'm not a gadget lover but the IP is a "trendy" exception😊It helped me go from dreading dinner to singing with joy! I want to try your sausage and sweet potato recipe. My husband is not a fan of kale. I joke and tell him, "I guess you are allowed to dislike one vegetable, lol" My favorite recipes for IP dinners are: veggie chili, chicken and dumplings, and Italian meatball soup. Other fast favorites to make up quickly are: boneless chicken thighs for fajitas or tacos, steamed spaghetti squash to go with meat sauce, baked sweet potatoes for snacks, or boiled eggs for salads. Thanks for sharing your recipes and encouraging others to love the IP. I love it so much that I decluttered our slow cooker😄
I just made the sweet potato and sausage soup. Did two sweet potatoes and 2 yellow potatoes. Also did broccoli instead of kale because it's what we had. Me and my husband are obsessed. Also, my kids are eating it (which is a miracle). Thank you so much for this fantastic recipe!
I love my instant pot too , I buy the pork loin from there and season it with garlic powder onion powder cumin and cut up onions little bit of broth 3 dried bay leaves let it cook until it shreds apart . Your first meal you can put the meat and broth on top of mashed potatoes and your second meal is pork tacos with some Spanish rice . Hope this helps love your videos .
Put 3 or 4 chicken breasts in you can saute them if you want, add taco seasoning and a big jar of salsa. Once its cooked use a hand mixer to shred the chicken in the IP and serve it over rice or on a tortilla. We are keto so we usually serve it on mexican style cauliflower rice. I make a great tortilla style soup using cauliflower rice in the IP, but I use rotisserie chicken it makes the meal even faster.
I’m so inspired by your channel and the choices you have made for your family. I’ve been binge watching all week and learning as much I can before I jump in. One of our favorite instant pot recipes is chicken pot pie soup (the whole 30 version!) it’s also gluten and dairy free but so creamy and delicious! I add peas to mine too!
Loved the video. I have an IP that I want to get more comfortable using and these are simple recipes to get me started. Love that you encourage people to go with whatever works best for them.
My favourite appliances that I CAN‘T BE WITHOUT are, in order, my: 1. Vitamix 2. Breville AIR FRY oven and 3. Instant Pot. Best investments I’ve ever made.
I got an Instant Pot a few years ago, but only used it a few times. Recently, I got a cookbook at Costco (Instant Pot Fast & Easy) and have tired several recipes and we have loved them all so far! I like that they don't require many unusual ingredients and many of the recipes have an ethnic flair to them. I've loved using my Instant Pot now that I have some recipes that I know we love! Looking forward to trying some of your's!
Actually the sauté button does have 3 settings “ low, normal and more”. It will toggle through them as you keep pushing the sauté button. Love your channel!!
I’m currently binge watching a bunch of your videos. It’s over 90 degrees where I live today, but this recipe sounded so good when I watched the video. OMG!!! I made the Sweet Potato & Sausage Soup & it did not disappoint. My husband went back for seconds. This will definitely be added into our meal rotation.
My son was failure to grow and had to see a growth doctor. For many years he didn't gain any weight at all, he weighed 30lbs in 7th grade, so I will feed my kid whatever I could get him to eat.
Some folks are wondering how big an instant pot and which version they should consider getting. In my desicion making process, I watched many youtubers videos and decided I really needed to make yogurt. So that meant I wanted that yogurt button. But not only that I wanted to make pints of yogurt. So in that case 4 wide mouth mason jars fit just precisely in a 6 qrt. Had I wanted to make qrts of yogurt I would have either needed to spoon the yogurt into my jars after processing or buy the 8 qrt Instant Pot to accommodate the height of the mason jars as they sit on the trivet holding the yogurt making components. Hope this helps!
If you do not owe a instant pot /air fryer you do. It know what you are missing. I got the one with both kids to transform and it’s amazing use it daily lol
You should also check out an air fryer. I fought that for a while (my mom tried to give me one). It is great for getting everyone to eat more veggies and getting the fried fix without the oil.
I have one and it's been in my basement for months! I've tried French fries with potatoes and asparagus and have had no luck with it. I've considered decluttering it because I just can't figure it out!😢
@@karenorlando8330 I don't know if you eat meat but steak, chicken & burgers in the air fryer is amazing! Also turkey bacon! I always have to cook everything a bit longer than most recipes call for..but my MIL bought one for me after she tried it out and we love it! I hope you have success with it! ☺
One of our favorite meals is Honey Walnut Shrimp or Prawns..I don’t use the IP for this recipe because it’s simple, quick and only a few ingredients. A handful of chopped walnuts, 2 squirts or spoons of honey, 3-4 spoons of each mayonnaise and sweetened condensed milk with a squirt of lemon juice or just squeeze 1/2 of a lemon, mix together and that’s your sauce Batter: 4 Tbs. Flour, 2 Tbs each .cornstarch and baking powder, 1 egg- mix together and you have your batter to dip your divined srimp( I just use a hand full.) lightly brown shrimp or prawns in fry pan medium heat just a couple minutes each side remove and add your sauce. I also found that trader joes candied walnut are really good, sometimes I will sprinkle some white or black sesame seeds over to make pretty. Good with coleslaw salad and rice.
For those who might want to know, the Ultra and Duo Crisp models have a button instead of a knob to release the pressure, and they also automatically seal when you put the lid on. Something handy to know if you don't want pressure while you're cooking. I haven't received mine yet so I don't know if it auto release is you choose a cooking mode that doesn't use pressure or if you have to press the button manually.
Shannon Allen I have the duo nova and couldn’t figure out the sealing thing . Thank you for letting me know that it seals when the lid goes on . Helps so much lol . I finally got it to seal but didn’t know how I did it lol
I've been making stock in my instant pot. It's so much easier. I save veggie scraps in a baggie in the freezer so anytime we have bones (like after making a whole chicken or something like that) I put the bones, some of the veggies and 1 tbsp ACV, fill to the top with water. Set to 90 minutes. For get about it. Then after straining I have homemade bone broth. I love that it cost nearly nothing and has so many health benefits!
This is a perfect minimal recipe list! Changing up small things to make it feel different but keeping it generally the same makes it easy on your grocery list and your meal planning! Thanks!!
I have not read all the comments but wanted to mention that I have started to use full fat coconut milk in my soup recipes to get that creaminess and healthy fats (good for your brain!) but without the dairy - I have a child with lactose issues too. Not judging at all, just offering my experience! If you miss the creaminess, give it a shot! :) Thanks for your videos - you rock!
Thank you for these great looking recipes, but a HUGE thanks on the practical tip on picky eaters. I have 5 year old twins and a 2 year old, they all ate fantastic until age 2 and then became super picky. I feel like I have completely lost control of their diet and I am so excited to try this to see if I can get them eating better!
Just in case you get stuck, I have a 19 year old who survived on pasta dressed with EVOO for at least 1 meal per day for about 2 years. Her ACT was 31 so I think it didn't have a negative consequence. (She currently eats a more varied diet than many of her friends just because we like to try different ethnic cuisines...so don't get disheartened).
I REALLY enjoy your You Tubes, and look for any I may have missed. Has anyone else mentioned how fast you talk? I'm always rewinding.....it doesn't deter me from listening ❤️👵🏼
Kitchen Basics is a really good stock in a box. Also, Better Than Bouillon base makes a great stock by adding a teaspoon of base per cup of water for however much stock you need, and they have a million flavors. The base keeps for a really long time in the fridge, so there is no waste there ever.
We’ve loved our instanpot for years! I love making homemade Mac and cheese for my daycare and shredding chicken from frozen chicken in there. We are doing keto right now so it’s great for cabbage and meats. My picky eater won’t touch any kind of soup or casserole regardless of what’s in there. 🙄 she still had everything we make on her plate but she just won’t eat it. I don’t pressure her. I hope one day she will come around!
Those soups sound amazing! I'm going to try one of them tomorrow for lunch. I adore my instant pot. My mom got us one for a house warming when we got our first home a few years ago and it's my favorite kitchen appliance.
Dawn, I love to make hard boiled eggs in my Instant Pot, 5 minutes to cook, 5 minutes to stay in pot and 5 minutes in an ice bath. They are so easy to peel & I have eggs for Avocado Toast, Salads & snacks.
I love my instant pot!! I have a big one and a smaller one it is a GAME changer. Now everything I make tastes good! We love making broccoli and cheese soup in ours 💜
I replaced my rice cooker, crock pot and yogurt maker when I got my IP...less room taken up in the cabinets, too! There are levels of saute, too! Low/med/high. Makes a big difference when sautéing, for me at least.
Love my Insta-Pot. Too bad my family complains when I prepare certain dishes in it - like they don't like meat or dishes that I would normally baked in oven. But the other day I did homemade chilli from scratch in it and was fantastic. (Chilli has always been intimidating for me ☺ ) I use it to cook rice in it and it's always perfect, sometimes I add stuff to it like veggies and bacon or smoked kielbasa to make quick casserole. (If i add frozen veggies and hit rice button the veggies arent too mushy, but you can still mix steamed veggies in later, I guess) I cook in it many times a week so this is one of the item that will always be on counter even when I de-clutter my kitchen. (Also have rice cooker that looks like my Insta-Pot that is put away and almost never use it. I'm considering to donate.) BTW I'm watching some of your kitchen related videos and am so pumped up to go mini on my kitchen. 😊👍 So after Christmass....🎄 😉
You mentioned liking broth to add more flavor - try nutritional yeast! It gives a great hearty flavor to soups. You can add it to the broth or just water
When you said it's better than eating chicken nuggets and corn dogs I spontaneously started laughing out loud because it's so true and we've all been there before!
I use my instant pot every single day to make bone broths because I am on the gaps diet. I make turkey, chicken and beef broth and then I’ll use the broth to make a delicious lentil soup in the instant pot also. For my family, I will take about 8 boneless, skinless chicken thighs and a jar of salsa verde to use for chicken tacos. You can also do the same with barbecue sauce or curry. Even just cooking a whole chicken in the instant pot is so quick and easy. My newest favorite thing to make is a bone in turkey breast. I put onions, celery, garlic and carrots on the bottom, put the breast on top and enough water to come about half way up, salt and pepper and then manual for 30 minutes. I’ve also added Brussels sprouts and cooked for another 4-5 minutes and it is like a mini thanksgiving dinner! The turkey stays so juicy and flavorful.
I just got an instant pot I will definitely be try some of these delicious recipes.. I grew up eating whatever our mom made.. never ate fast food until I was 16 years old.. when my kids were young and they complained that they didn't like it because it had veggies or whatever the reason was, I would tell them to go outside and if there was a sign that said, Rosa's restaurant than I'll make you anything you want.😂 they would eat it or the plate would be left there till they got hungry and they would eat it.. my kids eat anything I make now, one of them even became a vegetarian
I still can't figure out why the years ago when I talked about how much I love my electric pressure cooker no one liked it. The response was that there was no way they would have a pressure cooker in their house. Now every single one has an Instant Pot. Did I miss something? I'm just waiting for my cooker to croak from over using it. LOL! People get those Instant Pots out of those boxes! You will never think of pressure cookers in the same way again!
I know, I too have had an electric pressure cooker for several years. I've gone thru several different brands. The last one died. Now I could justify getting an IP. Recently got an IP on sale at Target and really like it because it doesn't have any nonstick coating to wear off!
I didn't buy mine, it was gifted to me and sat in the box LOL now I love it for all the same reasons. I've had success figuring out how to alter my regular recipes to make them work in the instant pot, soups and anything with sauces turn out best. It's fun experimenting. Thanks for sharing your recipes!
Someone may have already put this below... but another way I get more veggies in our foods is with a stick blender... We're GF and DF here... (I'm a celiac, and can't digest either)... if I'm making soup and want it to be thicker, I'll steam a cup or package of cauliflower till it's mushy, then use my stick blender to blend till it's smooth... gives a creamy texture and we don't notice a flavor difference. Then we'll add it to our soup base. Another way- I usually buy several zuchinni and a couple bags of carrots each month, and steam till super tender, as well, and blend with some of the water I used to cook them, till smooth... then freeze in ice cube trays... Then anytime I make something that has a similar color (ie: spaghetti, taco soup, etc), I'll throw several cubes in with the sauce/food. So my spaghetti sauce is basically a jar of sauce and about that much blended carrots/zuchinni. The color is more of a brownish, which we don't mind now... but at first, I'd squirt a little tomato paste to give it more of a red color. My kids now know I throw all of these extra veggies into our food and don't mind... but at first, I had to hide them all :) (Sorry this was so long. Hope that all made sense) :) Thank you for your videos!! I've revamped several areas of our home, after watching, and look forward to trying a bunch of your other ideas... hope inspiring!! :)
Good evening! I enjoy all your videos! My hubby got me an instant pot last year for Mother’s Day 💕. Our family’s new favorite recipe is Creamy Taco Pasta. Since you don’t want to use pasta, just put it over rice or in tortillas. We are dairy/specifically lactose free as well and use Tofutti sour cream as a substitute. Use your favorite salsa. Super easy and yummy!!
Wow! That was very wise what you did with the vegetables; adding a little at a time! Why didn't I think of that...lol! Thank you for the recipes and tips!
I make my own broth in the instant pot total game changer I use up the extra veggie ends, use up the chicken bones and it makes a more flavorful stock then I've been able to find anywhere in like an hour and a half with zero time touching it
Thank you this really helps.I got my instant pot on Black friday and just took out of the box on St. Patrick's day to cook cornbeef and cabbage it came out so good and today I made white chill. It was good but I love how the flavors come out so good when cooking in the instant pot.I think I'm going to be cooking more in it now.Its so easy and less too clean.I love that.😁👍🍴🍜🍝
Our favorite is Greek yogurt. When done, I add vanilla and honey to mine because it's too sour for me, personally. Can also add any fruit or whatever. Bonus: I strain off the whey (the weird liquid) and sneak it in to other dishes for added nutrition, and particularly probiotics.
LOL! I just learned that you can put the cover onto the side of the instant pot! I always put it on the counter. Going to try some of these recipes. I gave an instant pot to my daughter - she's a vegetarian, so we'll be looking for other types of recipes. However, I am always looking for easy recipes. BTW - I love your site, although I only have one child/young adult in my house, your ideas have helped ME to become a minimalist, and you have helped me to become more peaceful. Blessings to you and your family, and please keep the great ideas coming.
Awesome! Thank you for some easy, basic instant pot recipes. I’ve only made 2 meals in mine so far but the recipes were much too complicated for me to prepare! Cooking is not my strength!😳 So thank you!
Don’t apologise for not being vegan/organic. You’re a super busy mom going to the effort making home made nutritious food for her family every day. That’s so badass❤️✌️
Haha you 've got the old instant pot...mine is Touchscreen / WiFi
I have the same wheat allergy. Not so much gluten, it’s the wheat itself. Massive migraines!!
My 2 year old saw your instant pot and the steam coming from it. He asked if it was hot. I said yes, so then he started blowing on my phone to cool it down. Just wanted to let you know in case your food got cold😆.
Kids do say the darnedest things! Lol!
My kid would totally do this! I love how sweet and helpful they are at this age.
😂😂
Anytime I say something is hot (even if I say it's hot outside) my son will blow. Lol kids are too cute!
That's so cute ^^
@@palacinkasmarmeladou Dice the potatoes. Add about 2 cups of water. Cook on Manual for 10 min. Then mash.
I looove how fast you talk! You don’t know how many videos I can’t finish because people speak too slow and last forever.
Hahaha, I have people say that I need to sloooow down so I appreciate this 😉
@@TheMinimalMom no no no! Thank you for talking fast! Don't slow down! I like that you talk quickly and don't drag stuff out. 😁👍
I totally agree and I also talk this fast.
A cool thing I just found out was that you can actually speed up or slow down youtube videos, and it really helps with videos I want to watch but the super slow talking is driving me nuts lol.
Kala Messer oh great. Good to know 👍
So good to here you give your kids the option of not eating at all rather than force them to eat what the don't like.
So glad these are GF! Our teenager was diagnosed with Celiac disease two years ago and we’re always looking for quick and easy but yummy recipes!
My family is also dairy free. When a recipe calls for cream, I will add canned coconut milk. Zuppa Toscana is amazing with the coconut milk.
Did she say why they are dairy free?
@@CopingwithGrattitude yup. About halfway through the video
Sounds wonderful, I will have to try that!
Does it make things taste like coconut? I have a can to use that I don't know what to do with. Hope you see this!
That's BRILLIANT!!👏👏👏
I called this "Taking a no thank you bite."
If you want to make it creamy, put a small amount in the blender or use an immersion blender for a few seconds. No dairy needed.
Have you tried creamy oatmilk instead? I haven't just had an idea. I stopped buying as much cows milk and included other versions now since kids are teens and less picky. I didn't even know non diary milk versions were such a good sources of calcium
I applaud you on giving them the choice to eat or not eat, and not cave to catering to their whims.
Good video!
Yes this is genius!
Perfect every time.
a slab of ribs is how much pound wise? does it matter if beef or pork?
@@mbsdaigle I typically use something similar to this, which is waiting in my refrigerator right now: 2.85 lb slab of pork ribs. This package is often found on sale at Kroger.
@@andhisband thank you for getting back to me!
@@mbsdaigle You're quite welcome.
I'm a young mom. Recently I came back to work. Thank you for tips. It's priceless.
I LOVEEEEEEE mine. My 8qt died recently so I upgraded to a 10qt. We raise our own chickens so the 10qt fits a whole chicken frozen, it is AMAZING.
i own 3 instant pots, my favorite soup is zuppa toscana (olive garden recipe with sliced potatoes and a bit of heavy cream, kale added after pressure cooking). after a holiday ham, I'll use the excess to make batches of split pea and ham soup, navy bean and ham soup, and left over augratin potatoes get turned into a potato, ham and cheese soup. all get put into ziploc freezer bags to eat down the road. my wife loves my use of the instant pot.
Love that you have dairy free recipes. As a Mom with a dairy allergy, making meals for me and my family is a challenge.
Brilliant!
Mouse Stripedgrass
Such a Great idea!!!
What kind of containers do you use? This is brilliant.
Ditto!!!
Me too! Working up my nerve to try recipes now!
I hadn't noticed that so had to rewind the video to see what you meant! That's brilliant :) I haven't got an IP yet, but I think I will!
Would you mind sharing the shrimp risotto reciepe. My family would love it 😀
Wow, this is awesome Amie!!!!
I just did a broccoli cheddar instant pot recipe on my channel, if you are looking for more recipes!
Artsy Cupcake I was looking for a broccoli soup one. I’ll check it out!
Oh yeah, i'm definitely doing all of these, especially the last one. The simplicity is whats so alluring.
I like the way you list the meals that you're gonna cook. Thank you for sharing.
I have a couple instant pot recipes on my channel, if you are interested!
Hope this helps!
make it on the stove. it's so easy. lol
The idea with the greens to easy picky eaters came at the right time for me! Thanks for the trick :)
Amie Hegeman yep, that my next purchase.
I have one and it's been in my basement for months! I've tried French fries with potatoes and asparagus and have had no luck with it. I've considered decluttering it because I just can't figure it out!😢

One of our favorite meals is Honey Walnut Shrimp or Prawns..I don’t use the IP for this recipe because it’s simple, quick and only a few ingredients. A handful of chopped walnuts, 2 squirts or spoons of honey, 3-4 spoons of each mayonnaise and sweetened condensed milk with a squirt of lemon juice or just squeeze 1/2 of a lemon, mix together and that’s your sauce
Batter: 4 Tbs.
You are fab
We have been enjoying green beens, onions, pork chops and potatoes in ours. And also curry children, rice and vegetables.
If you place a damp cloth or paper towel under cutting board, it will not move while using it. Love your channel!
I love that you do gluten and dairy free.... we have those exact food allergies in my house and it makes it so easy for me !!!
I replaced my rice cooker, crock pot and yogurt maker when I got my IP...less room taken up in the cabinets, too! There are levels of saute, too! Low/med/high. Makes a big difference when sautéing, for me at least.
This is very helpful because my husband gets migraines thank you.
Gluten AND dairy free... woman, you are my spirit animal!
Love my Insta-Pot. Too bad my family complains when I prepare certain dishes in it - like they don't like meat or dishes that I would normally baked in oven. But the other day I did homemade chilli from scratch in it and was fantastic. (Chilli has always been intimidating for me ☺ )
I use it to cook rice in it and it's always perfect, sometimes I add stuff to it like veggies and bacon or smoked kielbasa to make quick casserole. I'm considering to donate.)
BTW I'm watching some of your kitchen related videos and am so pumped up to go mini on my kitchen. 😊👍 So after Christmass....🎄 😉
You mentioned liking broth to add more flavor - try nutritional yeast! It gives a great hearty flavor to soups. You can add it to the broth or just water
How much yeast do you typically add?
Essential cooking tool for beginning cooks, "batch" cookers, those who dislike cooking, etc.
I really appreciate your practical, easy, flexible, style!
It's nice to see easy & simple recipes without dairy for the instant pot! One of my kids has a dairy allergy.
Hope that all made sense) :)
Thank you for your videos!! I've revamped several areas of our home, after watching, and look forward to trying a bunch of your other ideas... hope inspiring!! :)
Great tips!! (I'm going to try those!!)
I’m gluten and dairy free, thank you! I love sweet potatoes too!

I have the same one. I love it! It’s great. The meat come out so tender.
So I just made the potato and ham soup and it was a hit with our family, even with 80 degree Texas weather today! Thanks for the recipes.
I make my own broth in the instant pot total game changer I use up the extra veggie ends, use up the chicken bones and it makes a more flavorful stock then I've been able to find anywhere in like an hour and a half with zero time touching it
Teriyaki chicken and rice. I use the teriyaki sauce from Costco, and add vegetables, chicken thigh meat and rice. Yum!
Aimee Morris...Recipe please!
Good job with the veggies, mom-- I know it's a struggle with kids, and I like your style. 👍
