  • A video tour of the historical sites in Camp King, Oberursel. It begins in Mr. Kopp's (the Camp King historian's) archive. When was the opening of the archives? Where had they been housed before? What is Mr. Kopp's website? These questions are all answered in this first part of the tour.
More information available on my website: www.pension-sprachschule.de/ta...

Camp King played an integral part in my childhood. We lived in Oberursel, on the Alexander-Hess Strasse. My grandparents and Uncle later moved their house in Eichwalchen on Lindenberg Weg. I would go to the library, work out at the gym, purchase steaks at the commissary. When I was older, I would just hang out in the bowling alley, in order to reconnect with other homesick Americans. My memories of taking the school bus to Frankfurt Elementary School every day. The kids would play in the playground adjacent to the school bus stop. At times, our Mothers had some difficulty gathering us up in order to have us go on the bus and to school, because we were having so much fun playing! I am happy to see that some of the buildings have been preserved. Thank you for allowing me to recall such special memories😀

Thank you for posting this, I was stationed at Camp King in the mid-1980s and was heavily involved in the placement of the monument to Colonel King.
