This literally made my week. I'm am 22 years old and I was born in Frankfurt in '98, so basically 10 years after this was made. I grew up in Oberursel and it will forever be my home, no matter where I might live one day. Crazy, to me this is like I'm in a time machine, streets seem so familiar and yet so strange. Thanks for sharing this, really!
I know what you mean. I only spent about three and a half years in Oberursel during the late 1980's, but it became like home. I did get to go back and visit in 2000, but have not been able to get back since then.
Buddy, thanks a lot for that great Video! So many memories of the old Oberursel with Wienerwald, Ford Bücker etc. It was a nicer Oberursel, in my opinion, Amazing. Cheers Hank
I'm really grateful you shared this footage. I just moved into one of the apartments just past the former "Camp King" (now an Edeka and some posh Neubau), really interesting to see footage of the town. It's amazing how much the town has changed since you recorded this! It's still a great place to live if you like hiking in the Taunus. Watching your drive on Hohemarkstraße makes me very happy that they've now put in a bike lane, it looked pretty sketchy in your footage.
Thanks for your comments! It was an amazing place to live. Although I was stationed at Camp King, my wife and I lived off-post in an apartment on Korfstraße. Speaking of bikes, our apartment was one of them above the current City Zweirad bicycle shop. It was a HL Markt when I was there. I've just finished re-capturing my VHS camcorder tapes from that time and will be re-uploading some better quality videos and a few new ones. More 1989 Oberursel on the way.

Heh, Weinerwald was one of our favorite places to grab snacks from. Plus it was just up the street from my apartment.
Very cool footage, thank you for uploading! Beautiful city back then and even more today. All those 80s cars, childhood memories...👍🏻
Thank you too!
