Hunt Showdown Squad where you at?
I played a little but then I was sure that I was going up against hackers too often (yes I know it's a classic excuse for losing).

I like this cool, hip, fresh version of Hickok45 with his hat backwards...Hipkok45.
Stop! He will be rapping before you know it. NO, JUST NO!
Holdin heaters all "gangsta" and grabbing himself while flinging rounds out the barrels.
I imagine it'll be like "Deep Woods Thoughts" or "Small Game Hunts" where we'll have cameos from Hipkok45 rapping about a firearm to some sick beats.

Under rated comment.
맞아ㅋㅋ I agree~
Makes me want to watch Quigley down under again!
I had one in my hands, the guy would not budge off $3,000. An unshot Quigley. 45-110 as I recall, he would not take $2700.
Same
That film deserves a sequel.
That movie was cheesy hot crap.
But I still enjoy watching him shoot that rifle.
@@WALTERBROADDUS No. There's no storyline to pick up on for a sequel.
Your marksmanship never ceases to amaze me,Sir. Im not sure I could have made that 1st offhand shot in my 20s when I had great vision.
Now that's a beaut. and congrats on losing the 30lbs!!!
danz beard I was gonna say he looks thinner!
@@lemonaid8678 Yeah, he definitely does.
Looks sick.

He always thinks he can't hit it, but he hits it.
Hi! I'm a new shooter unfortunately from CA, and I fell in love with the habit after getting sober and needing some distraction that was exciting, and I've got to say as a young 23 year old dude, you've absolutely piqued my interest in these old firearms, be it some Sharps cartiride/rifle, a LeMat revolver, or some kind of percussion fire! Young folks like me have to keep this sort of thing alive and popular, and I'l be part of that. The history of these guns is just as interesting, to.
In order to really get into muzzle loading you will have to move out of California as they have banned all lead in ammunition, since lead is the only material recommended for use in muzzle loaders due to over pressures caused by the use of harder metals, that can result in burst barrels you are pretty much out of luck!
@@ernestclements7398 Only lead ammo for hunting is banned. Target shooting one can still use lead.
Order a $5 catalog from Dixie Gun Works
@@ernestclements7398
I live in California and shoot lead ammo all the time. You're just not allowed to hunt with it. Also muzzle loaders are not subject to the 10 day wait here.
Since crawling out of a whisky bottle, I too have become a dedicated shooter. Have always hunted and shot for fun but left off while in the mad realm of John Barleycorn. Probably for the best and now I enjoy the gravel pit rifle and pistol range every week. It’s not the first time someone has told my story. I have several friends that are also keen shooters and we take things one day at a time. If you could own a Sharps would you prefer a long barrel or carbine? Carbine for me. Tally-Ho!
What a beautiful rifle.. Love watching the older firearms and reproductions as well.
do these old rifles require FFL?
Unless it's a muzzle loader, it's pretty much the same as buying an AR15. An original that was made back in the 1870's would not require an FFL; it could be shipped right to your door. I've bought and sold an old Colt SAA or two made in the 1800's, and I was able to ship them right to the buyer's door.

I used to work with a guy that got 2 deer with one shot with a .45/70. He was practically on top of them, like 30 to 50 feet. He shot the buck broadside and the bullet traveled through it and hit a doe he didn't see behind it. His father had an extra doe tag so he was pretty damn lucky.
Anybody else here because of Young Guns? Just me? Ok.

That is some pretty good off hand shooting @ over 200 yards....
To parody a tired old phrase... "I love the smell of black powder in the morning!" :-)

What a beautiful rifle.
I'm in love.
I have one looks similar, mine is the number 2 Sporter with the straight stock.Bought it years ago. Waited five and a half years for it. Flew through a snow storm from Seattle to Billings and drove another eighty five miles to Big Timber the next day to pick it up. They took me in a nice little tour of the factory, pretty cool.
What a great rifle, I used to hunt buffalo with my pa back in the day.

That’s a classic big gun for the big hunt!!!
No other channel on youtube makes me smile so much every singe day!!! God Bless America and God Bless Hickok45
As much as I like the newer/newish pistols, revolvers and rifles my heart will always be with a Good Olde Lever-Action, Black Powder of any kind including this beautiful 1874 Sharps! Thanks so much for all you do!
That Shiloh 1874 is an awesome rifle, Hickok, congratulations.
C Sharps Arms, also of Big Timber Montana, makes very high quality 1874 Sharps rifles.
'stares at reloading room'; phone notifies me of new hickok45 45-70 video, perfect time to clean and size some brass today!
Beautiful rifle ! I enjoy my 1895 marlin in 45-70. 5shots and dead on accurate. Keep ‘em crankin’ .
I always remember the scene from Valdez is Coming (1971)
When Burt Lancaster is shooting the mercenaries from over a mile away, and El Segundo is tossing the shells in his hand and he just knows.... There's no way, there is no way....
These videos warm my heart. Voice of sanity and tradition in this degenerate world we are living in.
Mhm.
That first shot was terrific, you’re a great shooter great 👍 video 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Another Great Video Thank You Sir! BTW, if you ever just want to "Let it Go" with regards to your original 45-70 Rolling Block, I'm the guy! Lol. Thank You sir, love your video's. 👍
You can't get high capacity clips for those in California.
100 bullet round clip ultra capacity magazines need to be banned! Ghost guns cease to be the mega killers they are today without them!
@@rockybass3129 Yes Rocky! 45-70 at 1,000 rounds per minute...totally awesome.
I love watching this guy because he really loves shooting guns. it tickles him pink to shoot.
I had a Shiloh Saddle rifle in .45/70. Loved that rifle! It had a MVA #108 Mid range tang, 32" full octagon barrel, Bone and charcoal finish and AA finish. It was a beautiful piece of art. The people at Shiloh are awesome to work with.
Mr Hickok 45 Sir that gun is beautiful!!!!
Congrats on losing 30 lbs and getting that Sharps. I got an 1875 C. Sharps in 45-70 for surviving AML and a stem cell transplant. Great motivator.
The last time I shot a gun was when I was 9, but I love these videos. Great personality and it's always a treat seeing things like this in action. Really makes me want to get into shooting now that I'm old enough to actually enjoy the experience!
Go for it. Go see what you like. I personally am only into single action revolvers and Lever action rifles. Though I'm actually looking for a Pedersoli 45-70 Sharps at this time.
Quigley eat your Heart out!😆
I'm with you; I love Federal ammunition. Their aluminum-base pistol cartridges are the best and most affordable practice options out there. I appreciate you showing us such as historic and utterly American rifle.
Hold on, is no one is gonna talk about how old man Hickok absolute nailed that buffalo in one take?
Don’t forget the new True Grit. Matt Damon’s character LaBoufe had one
Until you mentioned it I had forgotten the remake
Nice sharps 1874 I also have a 1874 shsrps long range petersoli love shoting blackpowder loads 45 70
It's nice to see someone who knows what they're doing with the Sharps, that is, to put the gun on half-cock before opening the action so you're not dragging on the firing pin.
Amen to that Bayan!
Cool rifle! How did you get the leaves on the trees to grow at this time of year?

I love ya guy, this is and always will be my favorite round and weapon. (Sorry, can't call it a gun or my drill instructor will make me do push-ups). But very nice. Remember, this was a Buffalo gun, made to drop big game. Not a target rifle.
I think it was actually designed as a dove gun, mainly for bird hunting.
Just kidding. :-) They are really sweet rifles.
Enjoy your new rifle! It's beautiful! Wish they were available in my country.
I think he was talking about how they don’t export them but pop off
@Phil McCrevice Not too sure about paying the government more money, tax is already a compulsory form of robbery from a fairly delusional hierarchy
Lead is a precious metal? I have a 400 lb block of lead from the keel of my old sailboat buried in my back yard.
Love my 45-110 Shiloh... I wouldn't trade it for anything.
Nice rifle however I don’t see $2000 plus.
Gorgeous Rifle 👌🏻
I like the pistol grip stock better than the straight one.
My ancestor 3 greats ago was cavalry in East Tennessee. His name was Pitchford and never mentioned his rifle and was wounded several times and with long recovery periods was killed fighting for the south. I have seen his cavalry Saber and had divoted sides as bloodlets. He mentions the bread was mixed with dirt. I think the cooks somehow mixed the dough on the ground maybe.
Billy Dixon used a 50-90 Sharps at the second battle of Adobe Walls in June 1874. His shot was later measured by Army surveyors and they said the range was 1,538 yards, or about 0.874 miles.
26:04 somehow i WAS able to smell it!!! Ah, power of the human brain))

Heyyyy, this is the one I saw in stock several weeks ago! Great to see it up close and glad you're enjoying it. Thanks for the video.
Deadly oldman
Now that's how you start a Gun video!
They aren't cheap either.. lol
Functional rifle and work of art ! Win/Win!
How is your shoulder with all that kick?
francis400 It’s not bad, more of a push than a kick like a modern smokeless powder rifle.
"Boom! Look at that smoke." 👀💥🔫
A steel target or 2L has lost its life in the hands of Mr Hickok lol ⚰
Never fired a 45-70. What's it like compared to say 30-30, 30-06?
ncsteeltoe Different, more of a big push than a sharp recoil.
He probably remembers these things when they came out.
25k gun if it wasnt a replica new gun.
My goodness I'm glad you're back. I think by now you probably know how badly you were missed. I've been watching you for years and this is the first new video I've gotten of you. Your definitely the go to guy for great reviews, so keep them coming... 👍

230 yards offhand is excellent!! Your the man Hickok45. Wish I could do that.
Rough riders have an interesting history. A story worth looking into.
Quigley down under?
Every time my son hears “hickock 45 here” he freaks out!!! Gets so excited to watch his gun videos lol he is 3 😂😂
Anyways!!! Can you speak on the weaver stance for me ?? I have had some information coming from People who claim to be fire arms instructors saying a bent elbow is bad and can cause the bullet to scrape the side of the barrel causing it to jam.... I have always shot with a bent elbow 🤷♀️🤷♀️ help please !!!!!
Carter Eberline my thoughts exactly !!! But they apparently know everything 😂
Carter Eberline thanks !!!
Most police agencies teach weaver. I use it its a matter of preference.
What? You can cause the bullet to scrape... Total BS! GET AWAY FROM THESE CLOWNS AS FAST AS YOU CAN! Jeez, what else did they lead you astray on?

Having your son behind the camera to talk to really makes these videos feel more personal
This guy can shoot somebody two blocks away in their home that's "thinking" about robbing him...
It does look amazing.
Pretty much same gun i have dont shoot well with light bullets
Somebody has been playing Hunt Showdown
A .45 caliber bullet propelled by 70 grains of powder.
So happy to see this video. I’m 30 years old and my father bought one of these for me in 1992. It came in around 1994 and I’ve had it ever since. Almost exactly like yours but without the silver ornamentation on the front hand guard. I also have the tang sight for the rear. It just feels so good in the hand. Nice and heavy and you can appreciate and feel the quality when you hold one. The gaps where metal and wood meet are non-existent. It just has an amazing feeling that an AR or other black gun can’t replicate (and I love my ARs also!) enjoy it!
Your Dad is awesome!!!
Germaxicus he is when he wants to be!
How can anyone down vote Hickok 45? Must be C. Sharps and Pedersoli owners. Just kidding. I have a .45-90 on order. It has been 10 months already and I suspect another 12-14 months before I take delivery.
I’m first but Idk what funny comment to “comment”
Nothing
Shiloh Sharps did a really good job of the color case hardening on this reproduction.
You mean to tell me, that this man can walk out his front door and just shoot?
Erin Smith Isn’t that beautiful? My land I’ll do what I want.
Congrats on the weight loss. And that is a good looking rifle for a reward. But if you gain the weight back, you need to send it to me.
Read that Billy Dixon took a chance shot, scratch shot as they termed it, on an Indian making mocking actions toward the defenders after they were fought off, and hit the guy, whereafter the Army came in and having a wagon that had a mile counting device on a wheel, drove it to the spot and verified it was just under a mile, but very close. This gave credence to the account. Documented you might say. Besides, good shooting Hickok. And in that extreme weather, upper 90's? Whew.
My wife just left her grandma’s and stumbled on a GOLD MINE for firearms, that included one if these, a Luger, Lee Enfield and many others
What an excellent shot you are Sir.
I have one of the Farmingdale rifles that I bought in the early '80s when they were moving to Big Timber. Barrel is marked "Old Reliable" and is chambered in .50-90 Sharps. I bought it new. We set up at the Wannamakers show in Tulsa with all of the Shiloh literature hoping to qualify for a multi rifle discount. I managed to put together a three gun order and got a basic discount. This was before the"Quigley" movie and bpcr shooting became popular. The firing pin broke about 10 years ago and I called Shiloh and they replaced it free! If I had to replace the rifle today I would have to pay 5 times what I gave for it in the early '80s.
im a Montana gun smith and i own a 1875 sharps Montana the original shoots 45-70 or 45-90 i customized mine to shoot 45-110
You can put anywhere from $2000 to tens of thousands $ for one
We were on our way to Sturgis in '96. Stopped at Shiloh, and I ordered a Hartford in .45-70. Great rifle. DON'T FORGET the movie "Billy Two-hats."
The best thing about single shots is how easy it is to reload. Also, I carry rounds in my left hand, but I drop the block with my right. Then load from the left hand. Much faster.
Hows it going early morning gun powder ohh yeah!!!
thanks for showing us your 1874 Sharps rifle. Really cool. The way things our going here in California that may be the only
rifle I will be able to own in a few years, Ha. Ha.
0:03 literally the best Hickock quote.
I want one of these chambered in 338 Lapua Super Magnum...
They shoot heavy bullets better at long range than light ones
Have you ever thought about loading paper patch black powder bullets to help keep things a little cleaner when using black powder ? Would be a fun discussion 😀
