Please review the Beretta double action revolver when you can. Supposedly, it's on the same level as a Python.
Can you bring a Staccato to the range
Natural born teacher/instructor. Intelligent, extremely knowledgeable, insightful, engaging, humorous and of course, incredibly skilled. One of the greatest personalities of all time. A true legend. 👏
Thank you, bro! I will never forget our first kiss 🤡🐷🇷🇺

@@sigmawolf228 ay bro. Just cause momma didn’t love you enough doesn’t mean you gotta be an ass.
Mr.Hickok is all that and seeing his son there filming and helping him is awesome too. Wonderful family.
Well said!
Grandpa casually shooting 150 yard targets within 2 seconds of lining up using a 150 year old rifle.
Love. It.
he is 150 years old, lots of practice
My little brother and I used to watch these videos together when we were younger. He died a few years back, and it's been a hard thing living without him. The world seems so unstable and empty many days, but the fact that this channel has remained unchanged for all these years gives me such a sense of normalcy. Thank you, Hickok.
Sorry about your brother. Glad we provided both of you some entertainment or information.
2 things to own in a recession, guns and ammo. You can aquire more gold easier that way 😄
Such a gorgeous rifle. I’d love to own a Shiloh Sharps one day.
That signature giggle after knocking a bowling pin over or whacking an unfortunate ram downrange always puts a smile on my face. Feels like actually just hanging out with him at the range.
Enjoyed the video I have a Shiloh 1874 on order with an estimated late 2023 delivery can't wait. Still agonizing over 28 versus 30 inch barrel. You may be getting older but your marksmanship skills are still sharp as ever. 👍
My grandmothers father had one just like the one you are using
Dang that thing is a beauty!!!!
I would love to have one. Unfortunately, this inflation of late has other plans. Thanks for the opportunity to live vicariously. 👍👍
My Name is Shiloh, I need this gun! America! Thanks Hikok
Beautiful! “Go ahead make my day”😂
It's the gun from red dead redemption 2 beautiful gun
Hickok please be careful shooting steel that close I’ve been hit with a 40 S&W in a combat match after shooting a steal silhouette at about 10 yards. Came back and hit me in the ribs. Felt like I got hit with a 12 gauge bean bag round. I always tilt my steel down especially at close range that way the round is guaranteed to go down in the ground.
I always enjoy seeing this beauty.
In April 2022, I ordered a matched set of 2 Presentation grade 1874 Long Range Express's 34". In 45-70 the other in 405 Winchester. They just started the build, (Sep 2024)
I have a Centennial 66 30.30 shot once by manufacturers.
Was bought new in 1966.
Going to try it out this week.
I love Win. & Colt.
Not much love Semiautomatics.
Born 100 years to late I guess...
I really enjoy your video's.
Thank you for sharing.
Yeah, simple designs (revolvers, lever guns, single shots, etc.) have a special romance and design. You can't help but love 'em.
Modern semi-auto firearms (Glocks, SIGS, M&P's, etc.) have virtually none of that attraction. They DO have an attraction, though, simply in their utilitarian value. Most of them are utterly reliable and effective.
I have the same rifle 26 inch Octagon Barrel. She's a Beauty. Centenniel 66
Not a mark on it.
I even have the original box.
It was a gift from Mt father in-law.

@@hickok45 I just picked up my 1st Remington rifle a couple days ago. It's a 100+ years old single shot no. 6 .22 rimfire. I bought because I really enjoy my old Stevens Whippet single shot that looks pretty much the same as the little Mossberg Cricket they still make but without a trigger safety button. And because it's .22 not in .32 RF like my brothers old rifle that he can't find or afford ammunition for.
This man is one of my favorite people. Old school good guy!
Bought a used 45-70 Shiloh Sharps a few years ago. The target looked like a shotgun pattern with 405 gr bullets. Checking with the factory; the staff looked up my rifle's history from the serial number and discovered the bore was drilled using old WWII machines originally used for .50 BMG barrels. As a result the freebore was rather long. Using longer 550 gr bullets set nearly 3/16" further out of the cartridge to engage the rifling did the trick- it is now a tack driver! Good enough to hit the bucket @ 400yd at the Quigley match.
Guess one might have the same issue shooting a .45-70 round in one chambered for .45-90. I've always wondered if you could shoot .45-70 in them with any success, or even if a .45-70 would cycle in a .45-90 Winchester 1886.
I to have a shallow Sharps and ended up having to get rid of it due to funds or shortage of funds. It happens. Keep you powder dry. P. S. I started crying when you shot that ammo can those things are so hard to find down here where I live in West Virginia.
Yep, as much as all of us enjoy and even cherish some of our fine firearms, they are not worth more than eating, paying your mortgage, feeding your kids, keeping a car running, etc.
One could argue that at least ONE firearm is a necessity, but a collection tends to fall under the category of "luxuries."
Sir you have a great job. I would love to do what you do in your videos. Greg, your still one hell of a shot for a old guy. “Us old guys have to stick together.” “LIFE IS GOOD!” Your friend Dan from Jersey “Defending the 2nd” 🦅🗽🇺🇸👍
love these old classics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bought a springer air rifle because of you for the strt of my journey! Awesome vids

That's a gorgeous rifle, there's a lot of history behind that rifle

That’s a very beautiful rifle
Now i need to get one...i have to stop watching this channel~~~~~~~~LOL
Would love to own one. But, all I can afford is a Henry single shot.
Great video. Thanks for sharing with us.
Love the Sharps . I want a Qigle 45-110
Hickok45, a tabletop mini cannon might be fun, to make a video of in the future.
Nice gun
When you ordered and had your Sharps delivered, how did you do it?
I’m wanting to buy one myself but don’t know the legal procedure

45cal black powder. YES. lots of fun
I am learning about the American civil war as well
We are about to start the 2nd one
Simplicity and strength, a great rifle combination. I am really enjoying my Cva Scout 45/70. I would like to see a single shot budget entry rifle from all the major gun makers.
John Riggs .......henry makes them.
Yep! After you add the suppressor, it needs a polymer folding stock and a binary trigger.
Ok, now seriously... this rifle is absolutely beautiful.
Don't forget the plastic pistol grip. :)

very cool! I'm quite intrigued by that dual trigger, is that like a safety thing?
I think, not certain, one cocks the firing pin, the other is the trigger?
Mostly, it's just a set trigger arrangement. Once the rear trigger is pulled, the front trigger becomes literally a "hair trigger."
Without pulling the rear trigger, the forward trigger still works, but it's a bit heavier.
@@hickok45 Thanks. Beautiful rifle indeed.
oh so it basically goes from a double action trigger to a single action? (but obviously without the mechanics of a double action)
Good coffee and guns 💪🏽 love America 🇺🇸
Thanks for sharing this beauty!
Love it
I wish that I could reload 45-70. My Shiloh short rifle sits looking beautiful in my safe. $2.50 a round is just a killer. When I do take it out I shot a box and switch to my .22lr Chappia Mini-Sharps.
Oooohh. I like that gun. What a badass! You’re really a legend Hickok
Love ya Hickok
I just found, and bought, a used Shiloh Sharps 1874 45-70. I guess the gentleman that sold it to me ordered it and waited 4.5 years for it, I understand its a bit better now. I paid about as much for it used as a new one would have cost, probably more than it is worth, but not as much as I would have paid.
I have a C Sharp's Arms 1874 that I love to shoot. Paper patch bullets and black powder. My biggest vice
Can BP substitutes like Blackhorn 209 be used in these rifles? I use it in my online muzzleloader and its a lot cleaner burning.
You joke about a silenced sharps there, but Crytek went ahead and added a silenced sharps to Hunt showdown. Yes, it looks about as goofy as you would think.
Very Very good from lraq
What a Lovely rifle! I can see the quality and craftsmanship on this screen. Pretty walnut stock! Just down right Sweet! Kind Thanks and Many Blessings! DaveyJO in Pennsylvania
Please do a “My favorite five 9mm pistols at this time” video. No revolvers. (And I love revolvers.)
We have "The Last 9mm Pistol I'd Ever Sell" video on the To-do list. It will cover all brands and sizes as I narrow them down.
I shoot a Traditions 50 cal. using hornady pellets with sabot bullets. Lot of smoke and noise. Really dirty.
You can’t fool us. We know you already shot the gong. Otherwise it wouldn’t have had the first mark. Lol.
I like the sharps rifle
love the antiques. got a chance to visit springfield armory national historic site on july 4. they have the largest collection of american historic military firearms going back to the revolution when george washington selected the site for the armory. they also have firearms from all wars, enemy and ally, including artillery pieces. what they have on display is a tiny fraction of what they have in stock, and they have thousands of pieces on display with demonstrations and events. so many of us will never get up close to those classics and channels like this are our only chance to get a good look at them.
I want to get by there sometime before too long. It's just so difficult to travel around the Northeast, at least for people who choose to exercise Second Amendment rights. I generally avoid that part of the country like the plague.
I spend my travel dollars in the West (not California), Midwest, South, and Southeast.
@@hickok45 yeah, massachusetts has changed a lot in the past 50 years or so, but especially the past 20. new hampshire (visit sig), maine, and vermont are relatively 2A friendly, but southern new england (mass, RI, ct) as well as ny and nj are among the worst in that respect. believe it or not, there are still lots of people and groups in mass fighting hard for freedom, but many more liberty minded people just move out. i was born and raised in boston, moved to new hampshire for that reason, then settled in florida. irony is there are places in boston you are guaranteed to get shot or at least robbed with a gun if you wander around at night, so the bad guys never care about the laws. you may also not like how most people in the northeast pronounce garand and carbine (like garend and the ine in combine). canadians and the rest of the english speaking world also do that. as far as the history of american guns go, springfield armory was at the center of it all from the revolution to the start of vietnam. love your channel, sir.
@@hickok45 it's also a national historic site, so free, but i bought a few things at the gift shop. there are tolls on the roads around there, though, so the regime does get into your wallet
Love to have one in 45-70,man there pricey but look what you get...legend
What little bit of black powder shooting I have done I found that I got a plastic trash can and put dawn dish soap and some really hot water as much as I can stand and run a clean rod back and forth through the barrel with the soapy water and it dries almost immediately after taking it out then I oil every part of the firearm including the bore and I’m done
Imagine during the early Wars hitting somebody with that I think we'll take the arm right off
I used a Ruger #1 .458 Win. I if I remember correctly I used 2400 powder and a 500 gr lead bullet cast 1:20 tin/lead. The bullets came to me sized .458 and I bought two sets of😊 Lee bullet sizing dies and took them down to .451 in two steps. Then I used the carbon sheets of old sprocket-sided computer printer paper to make paper patches for the bullets. I think this brought them up to about .459. Then a combination of bees wax and vaseline lube was hand rubbed on the paper after it was wrapped on the bullet. I seated the bullet with .458 seating dies and then used a 45/70 sizing die to put a tiny bit of taper crimp on the brass so it would chamber OK. I took a box of these out to the Mont. Co. Shooting Complex to test them. I was getting about 1400 ft per second. Recoil was about like a 12 ga shotgun with slugs, of course, if you have a 9-pound shotgun. Accuracy was less than 3 inches at 100 yd. The bullet impact was impressive to say the least. It tore a steel swing arm target completely out of the ground. BTW, I learned the paper patch technique from Paul Matthews book The Paper Jacket available from Wolf Publishing.
I also have a 458/2-inch built on a Mauser action with a 24-inch target barrel. I used 405 grain lead bullets in it with paper patches. Brass was cutoff 7mm mag. Velocity was nearly 1475 fps and it would shoot 5-shot groups of about one ragged hole at 100 yards. People at the range were always asking me what that confetti was coming out of the end of my barrel when I shot. And you never had to worry about cleaning the bore. It was just as bright and shiny and clean after shooting as it was before you started.😊
Query: does the 45-70 caliber exist with a black powder load and with a nitro powder load or modern powder?
It is originally a black powder load so it works great with that. It’s also commonly loaded with smokeless.
Soy tu comentario en español :), no se como llegue aquí pero me gusta

This is a good video my friend.. I live in montana about one hour east of Shiloh sharps factory, the quality of there rifles is the best . The fit between the metal and wood is awesome,, I shoot at the quigley shoot in Forsyth montana every year since 2002.. Love it.. PS.. You should. Come up there next year . THANK YOU FRANK FROM MONTANA......
Not to bust into an inapropriate thread, but just wanted to let you know that I've always wanted a colt SAA. Have one of the newer Ruger .22 revolvers that I like a lot but always wanted at SAA in .45. Bought one of the Uberti 1873 Cattleman 2's 7.5 in steel from Bud's and it should be here tomorrow. My question, if you have the time to answer, is what is your recommendation for getting an affordable (not cheap) belt/holster for it that wouldn't get me laughed at if I ever wanted to go to a cowboy event. We have an annual event here where the recreate the Battle of Aiken from the War Between the States, and a lot of those guys are pretty hard core about authenticity. Not looking for that, but I would like a presentable cartridge belt holster for this. Cheers from Aiken, SC.
Can't see. Can't see too much smoke lol
Love your channel mate. Respect from the UK
Such an absolutely beautiful gun.
Beautiful rifle
Great video, can you shoot smokeless powder cartridges in a Shiloh sharps?
YES! very much so!
Sparks lrr hunt Showdown!
Love the 45-70 and 45-90.
Great video. I had the privilege of being in your neck of the woods recently. Spent four days in Pigeon Forge, went to Smoky Mountain Knife Works, visited Buds gun shop, visited museums in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, went whitewater rafting on the Upper Pigeon River, and took in some shows. Had a blast. Wish I knew how to find you, I would have stopped by and visited with you and bought you lunch, or dinner.
I keep thinking Quigley Down Under.

@3:05 you missed that 2nd gong shot because you committed blasphemy even talking about suppressing that beauty. :)

FYI C sharpe and Shiloh sharpe was one company that originated In farmingville Long Island ( around 20 miles from my house ). They decided that New York was not a proper place to make high end frontier weapons so they moved to big sky country. After that these fellas had a falling out and one broke off to make his own version. I knew one of the original machinists. He stayed in NY. Why I’m still here? I keep asking myself the same thing.
I bet back in the day it put a lot of meat on the table.
Remind me never to make Mr Hickok mad
Can you do an MP5K please?
Sharps compared to Remington rolling block would be interesting.
I was just watching Tony Montana movie and Montana Roughrider showed up.
Beautiful rifle!
I was wondering if you have covered just the topic of colt selling out the American people by selling to a foreign company.
