They played a couple dates in DC last fall. I couldn’t go but my daughter grew up with X playing in the house. She went with a friend. Brought me back a shirt. I saw them on the See How We Are tour, would have been cool to see them again, especially since Billy was back. Unheard Music? At least not in my home.
Nobody will agree with me. But I always thought Billy Zoom was the weak point of X. Listen to the album "See How We Are" which Billy had nothing to do with. Dave Alvin and Tony Gulkyson played lead guitar. Tony toured with X in support of that album. Dave Alvin was always the lead guitarit of the Knitters. Billy's playing was too simplistic.
Listened to under a big black sun in LA summer 1982 but somehow missed them while I was there. Saw The Blasters, Fear, circle jerks, The Plimsouls. It was a great scene. Didn't get to see X until 1983. A favorite of many.
@@whipsmartchris Aww tan Aww thanks! Yeah favorite song is 'The World's A Mess It's In My Kiss". But its not on my favorite album. lol Favorite album is Wild Gift. I think. Hmm...
@@stacyblue1980 Great choice! I’m going to really think about my favorite. My instant thought is “I Must Not Think Bad Thoughts” but I want to look at some song lists.
I've been a musician since I was about 14 it is a shame this band was never recognized it seems that original music is never really recognized thankfully their music will always be there for those who dig a little deeper!!!!
I love X. However, I get ill when I hear their music now and think about how much time has passed and how much my life, and the world, for that matter, has changed.
I wore More Fun in the New World out in 1983. Junior year of High School. Everybody wanted me to make cassettes for them. This still hits me right in the gut.
This band changed my life. If they had come out 10 years later they would have been Pearl Jam or Nirvana. Saw them in concert three times and outside of the Ramones they put on the best live show I have ever seen. Some bands suck live, but X was created for live music. Just the greatest band that deserved to be so, so much bigger.
You should have seen live shows by the Jimi Hendrix Experience and the Rolling Stones in their heyday (circa 1969). Been there. And Soundgarden was better than Nirvana and Pearl Jam put together. No arguments please, we all have our opinions, and that is mine, you have your own opinions which I respect.
So, about 5 minutes ago this song popped into my head for no apparent reason. It was a hot day in Los Angeles, maybe that is why X and this song appeared, out of nowhere, while I was doing something mundane and not related to music. I do not know. I do know that I love the internet for one reason- I did not have to dig out the tape or cd- I could just find the very song I wanted to hear *right now* , posted by the band themselves. Thanks. I hope to catch you folks live, even very socially distant in the near future.
i bought the song Los Angeles on Rocksmith about a month ago.....not saying it was me that kicked in back into the algos...but i am saying it got processed in some algos.
I had the same thing just happen to me. out of NOWHERE this song pops into my head after not even thinking about it for I don't know how many eons, and I finally decided to look at the lyrics. Well, it is just as relevant today as it was a zillion years ago. This song is awesome and I had almost forgotten all about it! !!
X predicting neo-liberalism. Yet another feather in their cap. I loved that on the album cover you could see the lined foolscap paper under the paint....Yes I'm obsessed today and its giving me true joy rediscoering my fave bans
UA-cam has been so saturated for so long, I can't recall the last time I searched for something I remembered seeing on TV that DID NOT show up when I searched for it. Well, I remember a TV commercial for "More Fun In the New World, the new album by X!" But it's nowhere to be found. Lost forever. Damn.
A Very Special band.. and all they need is ONE FUCKING LETTER of the Alphabet to prove it. Thanks Exene, John, D.J. and the one and only "Punk Buddy Holly", Billy Zoom, for DECADES of pleasure.
Honest to goodness, the bars weren't open this morning, They must have been voting for the President or something. What a great opening line...but I would guess bars open extra early on election day. lol
Please add the New Life video, I had it long ago and , also the Wild Thing video... so much great stuff you have made over the years get's lost... Loving the New Album
It's SO IMPORTANT that an L.A. band stresed, "don't forget the Motor City". It wasn't the only time X cited Detroit! All of us X heads know the band is joyfully to the Left.....I'm typing this in the summer of 2024. I have no hope that X will be a part of the Kamala/Walz campaign but wouldn't that just kick it over the edge!
This is how old I am. I eagerly anticipated this album. With this in mind, I couldn’t remember which fucking Republican tool they were referring to. My faulty memory said GHWB, however it was Mr. TrickleDown.

A crime that this band has been forgotten by so many, or was never known.
Saw them a few times in the 80's. I remember buying their first album beginning of the 80's.
Not forgotten at all! They’ve been touring for 10 years. Great stuff 😮

I never forgot them. Saw them 3 years ago
You've got it!!
Greatest American Punk Band!!!!!!!!!
Absolutely. ❤ X is the World.

Hell yeah. But they were only really punk for a couple of years. They just become a great rock ‘n’ roll band
I am watching this in honor of voting on "Super Tuesday", March 5! 😂
They all look so young. My God I'm old.
LMAO You & Me both! 🤣😂🤣😂😭😭😭😭😭😭
Well I was into music young I remember this in junior high when it came out in 1983
I'm sixteen, so at least you know some people are still discovering this amazing band :D
Grabbed every show for years now. Bought a ticket for 12/30 SD and forgot? Ouch. Love them to death!
I voted for "What's His Name", but I also love X. Good songs are good songs, and X is a great band!
Saw them a couple of weeks ago at the Rock and Brews in Highland, CA. They still ROCK!!!
Yeah, I was there. Great show \m/
Relevant every year.
I swear they never wrote a bad song……X
Playing this the day after US election, 2024. What's gonna happen?
They're relevant now, although this was about Reagan. Probably times will be even worse for us nobodys, no safeguards.
The orange monster will try to finish the destruction of the U.S. once and for all.
We will make it as well as we can
That they just made one of the best records of their career is just amazing!
I've been a musician since I was about 14 it is a shame this band was never recognized it seems that original music is never really recognized thankfully their music will always be there for those who dig a little deeper!!!!
Billy Zoom was X's secret weapon.
X is one the most influential bands of my life. From my teens to now.
I played this album over and over again when I was a kid..
I love X. However, I get ill when I hear their music now and think about how much time has passed and how much my life, and the world, for that matter, has changed.
I am still an X Fan!

New discovery for me. Retro punk-pop. Who knew?
Wow... still rings true ....
November 6 2024 This song is as relevant as it's ever been
You must be out of your mind if you think the last four years under Biden and Harris were absolutely fantastic. Good Lord...
So many great tunes from X
Exene was a tough gal ... no pushing her! X was popular in our college house in the 80s! 😊
A Great Album! WooF!!
I still love this song
We listen to X in Fla. Maybe play some shows down here sometime. Thanx, your fans
I had this album and I used to play it over and over again. It was great!!!!
New album rocks 24
They haven’t been forgotten. They are fine. Trust me

So down to earth yet so meaningful I wonder if this band still around does anyone know?
Love this band so much fun ❤
“It was better before, before they voted for what’s his name.”
Evergreen lyrics, it can always get worse.
a classsssssic and still so sadly timely

Dang this song is extremely catchy.
Omg❣️💯🔥

wow. so relevant/prophetic to now. Reagan back then and dump today. They've forgot the Motor City though. It's now almost a ghost town.
You can say that with a straight face after 2+ years of the corrupt dementia potato? Stay in Commiefornia clown.
Leftist big government policies killed Detroit.

Oof. Couldn't be said better after the 2020 election. Need to rewind a couple years before it.
"Carter". His name was Carter
Exene and John Doe aka the clone of my ex 😂 🤣 this video is definitely the story 🎉😂 🤣😄🍿😎❤️🩹👍🏿🪖💀👻🕯️🪬🤷🏿
Wrong lyrics. Try this:
Honest to goodness
The bars weren't open this morning
They must have been voting for a new president of something
Do you have a quarter?
I said, "Yes", because I did
Honest to goodness, the tears have been falling
All over this country's face
It was better before, before they voted for What's-His-Name
This was supposed to be the new world
It was better before, before they voted for What's-His-Name
This was supposed to be the new world
Flint Ford Auto
Mobile, Alabama
Windshield Wiper
Buffalo, New York
Gary, Indiana
Don't forget the Motor City
Baltimore and D.C
Now all we need is
Don't forget the Motor City
This was supposed to be the new world
Don't forget the Motor City
This was supposed to be the new world
All we need is money
Just give us what you can spare
Twenty or thirty pounds of potatoes
Or twenty or thirty beers
A turkey on Thanksgiving
Like alms for the poor
All we need are the necessities and more
It was better before, before they voted for What's-His-Name
This was supposed to be the new world
It was better before, before they voted for What's-His-Name
This was supposed to be the new world
Don't forget the Motor City
This was supposed to be the new world
Don't forget the Motor City
This was supposed to be the new world
A big middle finger to all the posers of today’s modern music.
The lyrics are wrong
I think ppl name this band as a influence to sound cool...their music is horrible..like motorhead
Great group I was a rock crit in 1983 and got to see them in at the Chance in Poughkeepsie NY at their peak, incredible
What a GREAT RIFF 😊
More fun in the new world criminally slept on
Woohoo !!!!!!! 🙌
