I'm tico and I can say that the adress system description is totally accurate. Although the government has "tried" implement a formal system, it hasn't worked out pretty well giving the hold the population has to the older system.
a formal system would be almost impossible to implement in Costa Rica, because most streets don't even have names, some streets that do have names don't even extend to the next town over, the place is a maze, if you named every street, you would have the exact same problem anyways, it would probably be just as easy to use landmarks anyways.

If you go to Costa Rica…. VISIT TORTUGUERO!!! It’s in a national park so you are only able to enter on guided tours/overnight stays. However, it’s incredible. The scenery is stunning and you get to be right up close to the wildlife. There’s no road access, only boat, and they also offer boat tours to observe wildlife. You can see sloths, caymans, crocodiles, spiders, birds, everything. And they also offer tours to view the turtles laying their eggs, right up close and in person. I’m currently mid way through a 3 week trip in CR travelling all round the whole country, and Tortuguero was the first stop. It’s been an absolutely incredible experience so I urge you, if you can afford it, to visit Tortuguero. Pura vida ✌🏻🇨🇷🇿🇦

Yeah but some countries need it more if they are near or are enemies of hostile countries. Costa Rica is not near/doesn’t have beef with any hostile countries
Lots of people are comparing Costa Rica to Panama. I found the people in Costa Rica much friendlier, and the taxis not as corrupt in Costa Rica, and I met many more English speakers. Also less people are after the gringos for their money in Costa Rica. I had so many people in Costa Rica just want to talk because they wanted to talk to a gringo. In Panama if someone is talking to you a lot they usually want something. But in Panama I have only been to Panama City and one of the beach areas. But San Jose did have some areas where people want the gringo's money also.
The people of Panama City are very arrogant, in fact many people in the interior of the country criticize them 😅, whatever, It is true that there are many Panamanians like that, but at least where I live they are quite friendly
We have them but we don't always carry them around 😂 I live in the middle of the city and we own 2, what for? Don't ask me, but hey! They're with us after all!
Thanks for the compliment too!!! It's always nice to hear some warm words about our country 🇨🇷 Pura vida and hope you're doing well during the pandemy ✨
Costa Rica is the safest and richest country in Central America. Very diverse and is the third most Eco-Friendly country in the world. Costa Rica is one of the most valued environmental destinations. Also Costa Rica has exceptionally high life expectancy of 79, one of the highest in the world. And Costa Rica is ranked as Number 1 for happiest country in the world. I didn't start watching your videos until around 2020-2021, but the fact that your videos start in 2016, the year I graduated high school and entered college, makes me super nostalgic.
I've been waiting for this and I loooooooooooooooooooove the video. Also, the part about the addresses is SO accurate. I had a friend whose house address was: At the pulpería turn left, two blocks then right, then at the tree turn left, there's a dead end, it's the fourth house on the right, not the left. Because the blocks were not the same size on the left. xD
+daniel Hahahaha. It won't. xD Some time ago the government decided to start labeling streets and avenues, but they're fighting against many many many years of giving addresses as he mentioned, so if someone tries to give out the address with street and avenue numbers it's almost 100% possible that no one would get it. I've tried. xD
Legit my address is 2km from toll heading east, left from church (that is no longer there), 1.5km (that's a lie but we don't wanna measure exactly) house with blue gate. Also the government doesn't ask privet roads to be named so if I'm using Uber i technically live on 'un named road' as the name of the road. I'm not scared of sending out my address cuz it would be imposible to find with the province, region, or town, so :P and even then people get lost
@@SakuraAiCR I live in Alajuela Province and it's true. People don't know the names of most of the streets, except maybe right downtown. I always wanted to know what the ICE uses to find houses and electricity meters. They have some sort of coding system. My address used to start out with (in English) "From the Gilded Pig Restaurant, xxxx meters west..." (I live in a small town outside Alajuela.)Then somebody bought the pig and now it's just a regular bar. :)

Barby Love your videos! This is almost a 100% as a tica just a couple of things: 1. We dont carry machetes 2. As a tica I love this video just those things that i needed to clarify. Keep the good work! Good vibes!
ok. that is like 2% of the total population of costa Rica. that it is not a real fact of costa rica because in rural areas in all that world carry machetes or any thing a like.
As Costa Rican, I loved this video!! You missed one fact of the flag: the "little balls" around the coat of arms represents the coffee, because coffee was the first, and still, one of the biggest products of exportation! The soccer matches between CR and Nicaragua are not heated at all!!! Nicaragua's major sport is baseball, NC don't care if CR always wins! The soccer matches between these two are just boring
First of all I love all of these videos. I am a Spanish teacher and every Tuesday, I turn my class into a different Spanish speaking country (we hit all 21 by the end of the year). I always play a tourism video so the kids can see the sites of the countries. Now, I also play these videos and the kids can answer some questions in their "passports" about each country. I SO happy you added the comic moment of "why do you always have to label people by race".... "because it's a thing people have and it's not necessarily bad to identify with." LOVE THIS. I was actually "spoken to" by my administration because, when talking about the Dominican Republic (on Columbus Day), I talked about Columbus. It has been suggested I NOT bring him up again because the mom of a 5th grader said that Columbus is racist and I must be too for teaching about him IN SPANISH CLASS!!!! The student herself (5th grade mind you) challenged me on this. "He was racist because he called the natives Indians and they weren't Indians, they were Native AMericans"....Ugh...yes, you can imagine the rest of the conversation. Sad times we live in.

As a Costa Rican, I really enjoyed this video. I love how you kept on a positive note. Thank you, I love your channel :)
I am a simple Tica, I see my country, I upvote. Pretty good video and accurate. Good job.
Costa Rica is awesome!
muchas gracias!
+Norlito Concepcion I've always thought about moving there. Seems like a great country.
TWOW hype!
It IS a great country! I've been living here my whole life!!
+fryUaj Mostly. Stay away from the inner cities, though.
This is a country everybody should be dreaming of!!
yeah, but most countries cant afford it because they are too busy with their military issues
You are so right broh
Atleast Both countries arent like India xd
Yeah, we just want to hone our skills with the language. That's how our english teachers tell us to get better, by speaking with you guys 😊
Thank u for visiting our capital, Is si underrated
The people of Panama City are very arrogant, in fact many people in the interior of the country criticize them 😅, whatever, It is true that there are many Panamanians like that, but at least where I live they are quite friendly
After seeing this, I'm really interested in visiting Costa Rica! Overwhelming nature meets tropical paradise!
Seriously I wanna go there, Costa Rica 🇨🇷
Costa Rica in South America
Because I was in Costa Rica and columbia
I'm really impressed with the quality of your research, content and the way you present the data. Congratulations man. Great work

I love Costa Rica been there twice and it’s amazing. And yes it seems like everybody has a machete
Stand up Puerto Limón🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾☺️!!!!
Just binged watched all the previous Geography Now videos so this is my first live one! So excited!
I know, I just realized it's always few weeks between each episode :(
Costa Rica is the safest and richest country in Central America.
Fun Fact : We're one of the best soccer teams in Concacaf
Also no one carries around a machete, trust me
+Jayson Rosales No one does dude, regular everyday people never carry them
Maybe the best? We got to the quarter finals and lost to Netherlands on penalties!
is there a flexible immigration policy so that peace and nature lover can live in this country forever
+Jhon Henry
"A place where someone can do this to a crocodile"
*Laughs in Australian accent*
Yes we have the biggest fattest crocs in america. The croc you see here was found hurt and very weak that man saved and cured it in esence it, created a bond not normal. ☺️🇨🇷
Procceds to die by a giant spider
Costa Rica is awesome. Except for my Belize and my wife's Barbados, Costa Rica is my favorite country!

Costa Rica looks amazing, love from Australia.
Zimbabwe video will be the best because you're improving yourself each video. Congrats!
something you have forgotten to say in your video is that Costa Rica owns more water than land! could be a funny fact!
gustavo vargas "More water than land", Hmmm.. have you ever heard of Indonesia ?
so? still a fact.
we do!?!?!? why did nobody told us that in school
gustavo vargas
Huh, I didn't know that...
Jes DaM Simple logic
Looks like an awesome country. Thanks for making this
So proud to be Costa Rican!! Thank you for such a great video!!❤️
Same
I didn't start watching your videos until around 2020-2021, but the fact that your videos start in 2016, the year I graduated high school and entered college, makes me super nostalgic.
Looks like an amazing country.
went there, I was right
+Don't Even Bother What part did you visit?
hey I'm a colombian living in Costa Rica and out of all the videos I've seen about Costa Rica this was by far the most accurate! AMAZING RESEARCH!! you just earned a follower!
4:25 I loved that adjective "beautifantastic notes bills". It makes sense and it is very appealing.
As an American that loves Costa Rica, I'm glad to hear that we're their "best friends".
Pura vida!
Costa Ricans secretly really really like Americans, but they can get annoying some times
+Young Metro I like half of them, the ones that are not voting for the orange sociopath.
+SenorMateo I would say Panama was the BFF, but the USA would be one too
+Funke Motor You win
Wow! I had no idea about how Costa Rica was like until I watched this video. I really like all the development in different areas and how the country is amazing. Love from Brazil 🇧🇷
So "The Last House on the Left" is actually an address in Costa Rica? 😉
+Strato Incendus Lol yes it is, sometimes someone can actually use a former business as a point of reference, even though that business closed like 10 years ago!
+Angie Chaves I was referring to the film 😉.
my address when I live there was literally "200 meters West of Bar La PiaPia, Calle Doña Ema, First house on the right". (not including city and town lol).
@@Annecpino13 500 metros Oeste del antiguo trapiche... jajajajajajaja ( I laugh because the Trapiche in question wasn't even around any more when I was born LOL, yet everyone knew where it used to be).
Strato Incendus mine is three lines long
Barby Love your videos! This is almost a 100% as a tica just a couple of things:
1. We dont carry machetes
2. The football rivary it is not against nicaragua. it is against mexico and U.S.A since they make us play in the snow in 2013 that it's something that every tico will resent. FOREVER!
As a tica I love this video just those things that i needed to clarify. Keep the good work! Good vibes!
ok. that is like 2% of the total population of costa Rica. that it is not a real fact of costa rica because in rural areas in all that world carry machetes or any thing a like.
woow i had no idea Costa Rica is so amazing!!! I'm going there in november i can't wait!!!!
Alex Travel beautiful country I used to live there
Loved the Vídeo! I'm from Costa Rica, and I notice on 2:56, the name of the gulf you said is wrong, ("Pavón Bay") the correct name is Golfo Dulce, (literally Sweet Gulf)
pura vida!
YOU DON'T KNOW HOW EXCITED I AM WHEN A NEW GEONOW VIDEO COMES OUT

A deformed bull with severe scoliosis leaping into freedom is my new spirit animal
Costa Rican Here: 99% accurate mae!!!! XD
+Diego Vinicio Majia Quesada
What do the colors of the flag represent? I hope asking is not a bother.
+Diego Vinicio Majia Quesada KEYLOR NAVASSSSSSSSS
+Snapple Jack
Blue: the clear sky (and seas) that covers the country.
White: the peace that reigns in the country.
Red: the love for life, the shed blood for freedom and peace, and the generous attitude.
Brace yourselves a Balkan country is coming up...
let's wait and see how he will spit all over Serbia
I need it for a project though...
+Scorpion 75 Well Serbia (as a country) is kind of jerk, although the people are cool! :)
People on the Internet are once again going to think we're all Neanderthals.
Katarina Zornada
Well but they don't know that Eastern Europe is the Best Europe and Balkan is the best place :P
I love the fact that you actully knew a lot of my country, you made a really good research about Costa Rica.
I really love to see this type of videos.

Way to go Costa Rica, very progressive and smart management of your resources, top of my list for my next Latin American vacation. Also Vincent, nice job!
What a great video, thank you so much, saludos desde Costa Rica 🇨🇷
As Costa Rican, I loved this video!!
You missed one fact of the flag: the "little balls" around the coat of arms represents the coffee, because coffee was the first, and still, one of the biggest products of exportation!
The soccer matches between CR and Nicaragua are not heated at all!!! Nicaragua's major sport is baseball, NC don't care if CR always wins! The soccer matches between these two are just boring
My best memories in life are from Costa Rica.. I consider it my second home! Love from India 🇮🇳
I'm so glad to hear that, hope you enjoyed your visit so much ☺️

Sad times we live in.
parabéns Costa rica, vocês fazem a diferença!😊
A fun fact: The Dole's Frozen strawberries are from Costa Rica being frozen in the U.S
and brung back here
¡Amo a Azerbaiyán!🇦🇿❤🇨🇷

Wow, I love the new transitions!
"25% of the country's land is national parks."
Canada: "Heh. That's cute."
Logan Nobes
Obviously, Canada it's extremely big, and has a lot of land that can't be habited, Costa Rica its extremely small
IT'S TIME TO LEARN GEOGRAPHY

Love the new transitions just as much as the old! Sound effects are missed a little tho, but keep 'em coming. thumbs up from me! :D
Costa Rica is such a nice country, the education of the people there is insane, the health system is top of the world, the energy production is 100% renewable, I fell in love with the country since the day one, and my goal is to retire there, the security is awesome, you can walk everywhere and nothing will happen, the people goes in the streets smiling to everyone else, love it, greetings from Germany.
I'm so happy to hear that ☺️
You're totally welcome, pls feel like in home

I feel so proud of my beloved nation. You forgot to mention how we love soccer and are one of the best teams in Concacaf, also our performance in the World Cup
Machetes are NOT exclusive to Central America. They are also highly used in the Caribbean. Also, the term "menudo" for coins is not exclusive to Costa Rica. Many other countries say it that way as well
Yeah in Puerto Rico we also call change menudo
lladoandy Exacto. Yo soy de Puerto Rico
+Jasper Paolo ah lol jajaja
I thought that the Caribbean was part of Central America anyway...
+Some Person the Caribbean islands are a part of North America but are not included in Central America
