I grew up in Columbia, MIssouri. Ozark Airlines had three DC-3s that it flew in and out of Columbia. I remember riding my bike to the airport and watching the bird land and take off. I loved thos planes. I'd love to find a 1/32 or 1/48 kit of the airline version with seats and curtains. I did get to fly in it once around 1963. Great memories. Oh and to the south east of the run way and old discarded engine with cowl and bent prop lay in the grass.
How awesome!! I had the opportunity to fly in a DC-3 around the San Francisco bay area in the late 90s, even got to go up to the cockpit during the flight and watch the pilots for a few minutes, literally one of my fondest memories! Thanks for sharing yours!
Ozark also had a hub in Decatur, IL. Their DC-3 was the first plane I ever flew on. In 1970 I was 5 and my Father and I flew out to see my much older half brother who had just completed bootcamp at Camp Lejeune. We flew that DC-3 all the way there. Crossing over the mountains we hit a windshear and dropped several thousand feet. My comic book instantly went from being in my lap to being plastered on the overhead along with anything else that wasn't strapped down, this included the stewardess. I'll never forget that as long as I live. Soon Ozark brought in the Fairchilds, flew on both many times. My Father loved to fly and we did a lot. Ozark Decals are pretty hard to find. I have a Revell Fairchild that I would like to do but have never found the proper scale decals.
I believe that the Trumpeter kit is based on the Lisunov Li-2, a Soviet made, re-engined Douglas C-47, which had different engines, cowls and a metal rudder. Numbers of these were supplied to China before the USSR fellout with Mao in the mid/late 50's. A friend commented that using AM decals for USSR or Chinese marking obviates the need for modifications. I have a battered example of the Monogram kit which I may cross kit with my Trumpeter one to get a US made C-47 from the RNZAF in Wartime.
I'll definitely need at least two: one for the F-104 nosed RCAF version (Dolly's Folly) and an AC -47 Spooky Looking forward to this! Re-engraving Monogram's old kits sucked. Thanks, Dane
I'm a C-47 fan also. The rivets are a little overboard as on most Trumpeter kits but a few layers of Mr.Hobby 1500 should help I think. The cowls have to be replaced for sure as you said ! Other than that it should build out fine from the looks. Good luck , I'll be watching !
Yep, another worthy candidate for your magic wand. Ooohs and Aaahs to follow. Only ever done 1/72 C-47s "normal" and Spooky, following which I just had to do an AC-130. (I'm a sucker for a gunship don't you know.) Looking forward to your next video. My Regards...
I did the old Monogram AC-47 a very long time ago, very enjoyable, I still have the model. I'd love a more modern take on the AC-47 though in 1/48 scale.
Well, it is Trumpeter. Always seems to be the "1 thing" plus either nose shape or engine intake/cowling. Otherwise not too bad looking of a kit. Might have to take a gander and see if it's on any BF sales decently priced (because corrected cowlings of course)
I want the 1/48 Monogram kit back!! As I remember it came with 20 paratroopers and a jeep. Hasn't the legal issues or WHATEVER gone on on long enough with those molds? I need another 1/48 A-6 Intruder, B-1B (actually had 3 seated crew figures and one standing holding his helmet). How about a 1/48 C-119 (with R4360's please), 737-400 and a B-47???? All these would be the same size or smaller than the 1/48 B-29. Gosh I miss Monogram!!
Yeah, it would be nice if we could get re releases of some of the old monogram stuff, they were pretty high quality during their time, and usually pretty accurate outlines.

@@rocknewtonfilsterwilly7364 Thats amazing, thank you for sharing that!
The 2014 Airfix C-47 is actually the most recent tooling, although in 1/72. It has the fabric rudder. Thanks. 👍
Very true, I should have clarified, most recent 1/48 kit.
Thnx for showing the prints because i have a print error it says E32 E31 on step 9 for backtail wheel
No problem.

Thats really interesting information, thanks for sharing, and that makes sense!
I haven't seen too many recent videos on this kit, so I'm quite keen to see a build thread, when/if it happens.
If all works out, I should be starting this one around April to have it done in time for the D-Day anniversary.
Will be looking forward to this build.
Tentatively planned to have it done in time for the D-Day anniversary 2024!
That’s a cool idea.
Excellent kit I loved the build and how it turned out.
Awesome, good to know!
@@HammerheadModelMaking I did a build series on my channel
@@mikeMuppetmodeller I'll be sure to check it out!

Those would both be really interesting subjects! I wish Trumpeter would release a dedicated AC-47 version.

I have this kit as well. No real complaints, other than I wish it came with pilots & jumpers..
I'm right there with you, a sent of para troopers was a really nice feature of the Monogram kit.

Yeah, other than the cowling and rudder, I think it will build up quite nicely.
Also the oleo of both main gears are way too compressed which change the overall attitude of the model when standing on its gears
Ahh, good to know! Thanks for sharing!
So cool 👍🏻
Cheers!

Just a comment for the algorithm
