A few weeks ago you indicated that there would be changes to the channel. True to your word there were/are. I was skeptical at first but you have won me over. I now have a deeper appreciation for the 'man' that is FSC trucking. An unexamined life is not worth living it has been said. You certainly do examine your life, your values, and the progress you are making toward achieving your goals. Thank you for making these changes - it adds to the overall content which has been good since day one.

Steve I love the new videos now. They have added so much to the quality and gave us a new look at the man behind the wheel of Orwell. Keep up the good work. One last thing, I could not by no means do what you, Gentry, and many others do in this day and time and that is dealing with peoples driving disabilities. I can't drive 40 miles in my pickup without getting a very bad case of road rage. My hat is off to you all. Have a wonderful trip with your boys while you can.

Salads are a great choice for food, but it's the dressings that have all the calories and fats, good quality Olive oil plus a few herbs, or olive oil with chilli, is a great alternative.
Many sedentary jobs as you state, probably only need 1500 calories, as opposed to 2500 for a manual worker.
    Orwell is sounding great .
    Thanks for sharing.

It’s crazy man re: the fuel prices. Was 6.49 over the summer here in Maine, went down to 4.99. Went to fill up the other day and over night it was 5.69. I just run a PowerStroke pick-up. I can’t even imagine how crazy it must be for the amount of fuel Orwell consumes! Well, I don’t have to because you usually show us filling up, haha.

😮👍👍 and talking about Fuel price that most everyone don't know how the Ships that bring all your consumer goods to port. Those Big container ship diesel engines have to switch over to different fuel before they enter ports. Yeh on the open international waters. They burn the cheap inexpensive heavy fuel. But they have to Switch over many hours before they enter ports to the more expensive low sulfur diesel fuel. And you and I know just who pay's for that. Just amazing. I remember when back in the early 1970's, we used to bitch about how expensive diesel fuel was at 17 cents per gallon. 😂

Finding allot of stuff to eat at truck stop's is not easy to grab sometimes but they are improving stuff that u are eating. Plus i eat at Subway all the time or Church's Chicken. Or if i am gone for 2-3 day's. My wife will fill the fridge with home cooked meal's. And neighbor's and friend's will save there plastic container's like butter bowl's and other stuff so i can use to take food on the road. And when i am done eating just toss them in the trash. And we always stack up on plastic fork's and knives for me to take on the road. But i always grab them at truck stop's to use. I always buy big case's of bottled water and also buy one liter's of mountain dew and dr pepper at Sam's Club's all the time. I bet u are happy having the APU installed before the weather got cold. I love the APU in the new truck that i purchased. I still have Black Dog 79 KW that my late dad had. It will never be sold. My oldest son he drive's it once in a while. And we will be using it in the Christmas Parade. I did not know it also maintains the battery's. That is why i was not wanting to get one. I told friend's hell my generator charge's the batteries also. And they said so does the APU. I watched there videos on there page's. And i was like dam i might bet me one. The truck i brought it already had a APU system installed and the dealership showed me how to operate it and what all it does i was like wow. Went to the bank got a cashers check. And i purchased the truck and my wife she was happy. She was like hey at least u have tilt steering and i was oh hell yeah and i used it. The steering in the 79 is the same way ur steering is Steve. Hell i would have done ur exhaust if u was here quick and easy. I use the same clip board u use for paper work or document's. I hauled snow blowers like that one up to Michigian and Iowa all the time. We don't get allot of snow like people do up north. We get enough to go sleeding.

I have been off for 2 years from cellulitis in my leg. I usually go between 240 & 260lbs. I'm 300 now. I'm 61 years old. Been driving for 37 years. Most of my work was regional with a few years of real otr experience. Handled a lot of freight. You're right to a point. Just climbing in and out of the truck, handling equipment and freight moving around helps. If you can eat better? That's a big help. Everyone tells me to focus on protein. Good luck!

Can confirm what he says about losing weight by burning more calorie's than you intake. I've been working in a warehouse position since Feb. and eat pretty much nothing but junk food and protein heavy food items. But since I don't eat nearly as much as I used to as a child I've actually lost 30-40 pounds in the last 8 almost 9 months. I will agree that I need to eat more greens but they taste like ass in comparison to a nice juicy burger or a big kc strip.

I didn't realize you could get a truck into the park where the battle happened but depending on how heavy I am I normally get off on that exit and run 212 over the 85 I believe then drop back down to 90 in South Dakota. Kinda hilly but a very cool ride! Next time I'm out that way I'm definitely stopping! I'm really digging the "changes" to your videos but I honestly liked them before too. It's odd I drive too and watch UA-cam videos of people driving. Lol. Looking forward to the next video and have a blast with your family on your trip!

My theory on the one coal roll is... the injectors are not giving a good spray when they are cold, once the engine pulls hard the combustion chambers and injectors burn clean as they are at operating temperature. It does not mean they are worn out or bad, just aging like the rest of us...

I've been a CDL driver now for almost 30yrs. And most recently started watching some of the driver/ owner operator videos of life on the road. Over the road trucking inspires many to dream that its just a big fun road trip when we all know that's not the case. FSC you are old school with "Orwell" and that's bad ass. Hands down at the end of a hard day of loading and chaining it can at times be a task just to swing up into the seat of a cabover. The one I first cut my teeth on was a 1986 Pete 362. Yours at least has power steering! Lol
Your video takes the trophy over all the other bloggers due to the fact that you're for real, trucking life isnt all big road trips and fun, it's a business and a serious one at that. With fuel prices and all the regulations being an owner operator is nothing short of a miracle anymore and you do it with pride and superior service for sure. Keep up the great videos and keep the dirty side down. If ya ever roll thru Sioux City IA.with a grumbling tummy hit me up I'll buy breakfast at the last of the old train car diners here in town. Til then keep on truckin!!

Don’t know ,I remember when you got fuel in this little gas station where you got full service cheaper fuel ! What you think ?

Steve you should start carrying a Bick Lighter for when your lock on your door is frozen you can still get inside because all you have to do is heat the key and stick it in and then you can get inside of your truck and I hope that you will get to the Yuma Dunes you'll have fun their

With all that old school pure mechanical engines stuff that you touched on in regard to the Cab Overs, does the same logic 100% equally apply to the same model year conventional tractors that other drivers have the same passions in preserving? Steve, I ask this because of my curiosity for the preservation of the history of All Trucks from the 1970's and 1980's. That little box truck boob reminds me of something that happened to my dad in the San Joaquin Valley part of Central California on the Northbound CA-99 in the spring of 1981. My dad took me (8 years old), my sister (15 months), and our mom with him in his employer's 1981 or older Ford Box truck (Conventional, ten speed, air brakes, 2 axel with 40 ft box with lift gate that required a then CA-CLass 1 CDL) from their base in Elk Grove to deliver home construction supplies in SoCal. The applicable part occurred during our return home. Central Inland California is notorious for a weather phenomenon known as "Tuly Fog.". There was a Segment of the CA-99 that turned into a regular two lane road with traffic lights in 1981. I remember this because of a specific day that we caught a red light with what seemed like say a 1/4 mile visibility in the fog. Dad saw this tractor trailer pulling a flat bed trailer that gunned his motor when we both got the greenlight. The visibility dropped to 10 feet before the flatbed driver cleared bumpers and cut us off in the intersection, causing our left front quarter panel to hit the right rear corner of the other driver's trailer. The explosive sound of that fiberglass hood scared me worse than my little sister.
It's like Jim Morrison said, "People Are Strange."

Steve, you're working on the principal that you can't fit a speed limiter to a mechanical engine that's not true. Speed limiters are mandatory in Europe on anything built from 01/01/86 onwards, therefore mechanical. There were several companies who supplied them both as OEM and as retrofit, they run of the speedo drive, some worked better than others the best were a company called Econocruise they worked just as with an electronic engine that is rock solid on the set speed, others used to "hunt" around a bit. We hated them when they came in, but you do get used to them, they make the job more relaxed, that's how fast it goes and you, the despatcher and customer all have to learn to live with it.

There is a lot more sweet crude on the market which is used for gasoline, than there is sour crude, which is needed for diesel. Freightwaves has been talking about this. So… diesel is more expensive right now.
