@@PerryMcCall18 Adults did and for valid reasons Luigi covers. When the censorship issue began, Nintendo took the stance that they would not require any changes to a game. If it legally could be sold they would allow it to be sold as is. This allowed them to gain more traction in Japan where the Playstation brand has declined. Now it's Nintendo, Mobile, and PC as the dominant platforms. Xbox has been making some headway this generation as well, but remains a small player in the market.

@@LuigiTheMetal64 Mortal Kombat SNES's grey blood says hi, Nintendo had censored third party titles for a long time, a lot of risque Japanese games never even made it stateside (well a lot of Japanese games didn't in general back then but I digress). Sega used to be the edgy console maker and Nintendo the kid-friendly console maker. Then Xbox took Sega's place while Playstation stood a weird middle ground with games like Twisted Metal and GTA standing aside Spyro and Crash as Nintendo continued their reputation as the kid-friendly console maker. It wasn't until around No More Heroes that things started to turn around and somewhere around 2018, Sony started their own censorship of third-party titles _globally_ while Nintendo America was giving us NMH2, Bayonetta 2 and a bunch of localized Japanese games.
I suppose it has a lot to do with Nintendo America's history of marketing their consoles as toys, with the NES specifically meant to be a means of working around the video game crash, which was a region-specific issue: There was no Atari landfill in Europe or Japan after all. I guess they kept that mentality up until around the Wii.
These mandated changes are bizarre, even by Sony's standards.
Sony: Can't show anime bare shoulders, thighs, and lower backs. Less anime cleavage the better. Cover everything or just delete it.
Also Sony: let's show decapitated heads, caved in skulls, bisected torsos, pierced eyeballs, torture scenes, sex scenes, drug use, pools of blood, dismembered limbs, intestines lying about, and a storm of curse words being spoken in several of our exclusive titles!
Because they're not censoring to protect children, they're censoring to ideologically corrupt adults.
Meanwhile, Nintendo: Can't be too bloody, now! Isn't Isabelle cute and innocent and adorable? Tee hee~!

This is why I buy as many multi-platform games for my Switch vs my PlayStation as I like my content I pay for to remain intact, in all aspects, as the creators intended.
Yeah, but the games look and play so bad on the switch. It looks like Vaseline was rubbed all over the screen on most 3rd party games. Hell, I thought edf world brothers would run fine in the switch..... nope! It's so blurry that it gives me a headache at times. So I double dipped and got it on PS4 and it runs like a dream.

Because there's this really weird hate for anime, and Asian culture in general, that exists in the translation/localization industry. Nobody bats an eye at French or German names, but anything Japanese is seen as unfit for Western audiences and needs to be changed to be understood.

@@Zaku_Meister browsing the internet i've learned if you hear someone say they localize instead of translate (or any variation of using that term over the other) it means they hate the japanese, to some extent at least. i'd also argue it exists in the gaming industry in general (or maybe just the media surrounding it and the localizations of course). if you aren't one of the good ones you are trash. like, even elden ring, an objective master piece that shows the many glaring flaws of western development, got a lot of flak for not having horrible UI design.

What are my thoughts? All censorship however big or small is part of the same problem and as such I implore anyone who reads this, buy the switch version and if you don’t have the switch at least wait for a sale on PS4 or 5, to tell them that censorship won’t be tolerated and hit their pockets where it will hurt.

Sony's become 90s NoA at this point with all of the censorship they have forced publishers to implement. This was one of the games that I really wanted to play once I'm able to procure a PS5. I might just get the Switch version at this point. I have never been a fan of visual edits.

Good to know the game is unchanged on Switch compared to Japan's versions, this game has caught my eye, and not for "mature" reasons. It's nice the artist for the game won't be forced to make changes for non-Playstation releases of it outside Japan. Sony's censorship policy is unjustified, they censor things too much. Like, I get you want to have the games not TOO mature for the sake of sales, as mature rated games tend to have less kinds of people to buy them, but Sony forces more censorship than it's needed. Between this & Mugen souls. Switch at this point has been one of the last platforms left that’ll support fan service anime games without much censoring that are developed by Japanese developers that know their audience.
Sadly Sony butchered a lot of them with their censorship BS. DOA pretty much killed off, Senran Kagura dead because of the extreme censorship, and heard that DoA is getting a reboot which could be good or bad depending on who the devs are serving it to.

Physical games, and backwards compatibility with PS4 games with 4K upscaling. Additionally not all games are censored and the Sony mandated censorship really only started around 2018.

And as usual the Switch gets my money. Only thing my PlayStation is good for nowadays is getting on Hulu and UA-cam. If it were only for games it would be collecting dust by now.
So a patch came out that removed the 6 Aces costumes from the Switch version though Azure Flash remains uncensored. Apparently this was an accident and the developers are working to reverse this? How do you ACCIDENTALLY release a censor patch for your game?! What's REALLY weird is that there are WAAAY skimpier costumes that are in both versions on the exact same characters so the censorship doesn't even make sense!
I have a theory: It has been a long while since we saw a game with a content difference between PlayStation and Switch versions. Maybe Sony put out some new rule that there cannot be a difference between their version of the game and other versions? It would certainly explain the upskirt weirdness in Samurai Maiden. Not sure how they enforce this, but I know Sony has their ways. Usually a threat of banning developers from ever making PlayStation games again.

Kondagawa Jet girls was censored in development. Know how I can tell? Watch the anime. It has a mechanic and reason for clothing destruction and it's a huge part of the show. Yet it's not in the game.

Well the good news is that since this is based on a mobile game (I think), it runs GREAT on Switch! Just picked it up. Seemed really basic at first but once I got into it, it really blossomed into a solid Custom Robo/Gotcha Force-type game. Also looks like the Switch version has local system link for those who care (sadly no split screen in any version?).
This is why PlayStations not my favorite consul no more 😑

I'm confused as to what the costume difference is. In the PS4 version, it doesn't look like the back was covered up. But instead, the character had a different pose.
Good thing I only own a ps2 and switch.

The third game published by PQube censored...I've seen gameplay of this game (not just the gameplay shown in this video), and Alice Gear Aegis CS: Concerto of Simulatrix is one of the tamest games with a D rating in Japan, the character desgins, the fantasy violence...everything about the game tells me ''a C rating would have been fine'', it really is tame compared to most Senran Kagura games, Kill la Kill - IF, the Death end re;Quest games etc...a B rating or a C rating at most would be fine.
Even if it’s tame. All this points is that lately the Cero ratings board has been unjustifiably labeling some of these games a higher rating then needed be.
@@maroXUprising Yeah, the CERO is inconsistent like other rating boards, with some games getting a high age rating compared to other countries or regions (SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy and MegaTagmension Blanc + Neptune VS Zombies are more examples) and other games with similar or worse content getting a lower age rating (Soul Hackers 2, Blue Reflection, Megadimension Neptunia VII)...their rating decisions can be a little unexpected, and that goes for everyone else to an extent.

With western companies and politics exerting pressure on Japanese developers, we're seeing more and more, censorship being used at the development stage.
