The lead singer of the band Cartoone, is my Dad Derek Creigan, sadly he passed away, but what a lovely surprise to see you with the album.... Enjoy ☺️ x
@death to the suburbs Thank you for your reply. I'm in my sixties now, and love music of all genres. I was into Punk 🧷 rock in the late 1970s . When I first heard Franz Ferdinand I was blown away by their sound. Their debut album had that energy that Punk has.
One of my favorite "rarities" in my music collection is a copy of their original 2004 CD single for "Take Me Out" the hit song that started it all for them. It was released about the same time Record Labels were beginning to stop manufacturing CD singles.
Really good episode. Imagine starting with RTJ4! What an amazing experience that would be (especially getting to go back and discover the other three amazing albums).
Killer Mike's 'R.A.P. Music' and El-P's 'Cancer 4 Cure' are arguably even stronger and rank amongst the very best the genre has ever produced. The whole Def Jux cannon including Cannibal Ox, Mr. Lif, Aesop Rock, etc. is wicked. Quite an adventure for the newbies!!!
Never a bad album from Franz Ferdinand. Jeff Buckley's Grace probably is the moment I began to get more seriously into music and the album that was on play during some of my first *ahem* sexual experiences too. Such a wonderful album from start to finish.
I love Franz Ferdinand so much can't wait to see them again in Argentina 🇦🇷 they're so amazing thank you for letting us know them a bit more through the music they like 💕✨💖💖💖💖💖
I noticed that the copy of Music For 18 Musicians was labeled as having a “very mild warp”; that’s one record where you probably wouldn’t notice some warping!
Only knew FF for their massive tunes back in the day, but their working with Sparks so many years later got me into them properly. Such an excellent band, and perfect for a series like this, so thanks.
About 5 years ago I was on an aeroplane with my parents. Two seats in front of me was a gentlemen who was popular among the passengers, often being asked for autographs, photos, etc. Though I had a clear view of his face and persona, I had absolutely no clue who he was. Eventually the plane landed and we gathered our luggage, heading into the airport. We then seen him posing next to a poster advertising Franz Ferdinand live. I then realised it was Alex Kapranos and immediately ran up and asked for a photo. Super nice guy, sorry I didn’t recognise him immediately!
that was interesting ,odd choices but also creative ones, the accents at times took some adjusting to especially the ladys, but who dosent love the scottish accent, anyway i enjoyed their picks ,in fact i was at ameoba today and yeah overwhelming ,the album cold blood i would get,i think i saw them years ago and had almost forgotten, love SF sixties bands,so many now are obscure, mother earth, coldblood, the neighborhood, ect. nice video all seem very cool ,best luck and cheers always🌻✌💙🇺🇦🇺🇸
@Samuel Powell Dude, at this point you're spamming comments that aren't even about FF. I can guarantee you you're doing more harm than good for your cause, spamming this same reply to every comment on a video. Best to just leave one original comment, and those who are interested will come. Best of luck!
Great episode. Very thoughtful band. F yeah Cold Blood! Hey Aomeba you should get Lydia Pence in there. She recovered from major heart surgery and is touring all over the bay. Just saw her at Yoshi s and in Sausalito. She would be great in here.
Jeff Buckley's - Grace has been in my top 5 albums of all time since a friend called Lisa introduced me to it about 25 years ago. Also, great shout for Daniel Rossen, RIP Grizzly Bear though
@@usedfuzzbox Goddammit, you can't make a fucking living in one of the best bands in the world... There's really no hope for the future of this stupid industry.
Bin hopping at Amoeba. It's always an intriguing journey into the unknown of new and past styles of music OR in this case a mind-numbing trip into boredom by these presenters who can put you sleep just watching them and their amazing finds of the quirky and uninteresting.
There is no modern "Kate Bush" but I think that Mitski would likely take that mantle, just from a songwriting perspective, before Florence. I LOVE Florence + the Machine, btw.
emma pollock is way much better than florence and the machine. whatever, i remember the singer when he was a promoter, he put the delgados show for £2. i think it was 1997 or 1996
The young lady didn't get the memo that in this segment you're supposed to pick out stuff that is incredibly obscure, structureless and that you will NEVER listen to except for the first ten minutes maybe one time.

I like Franz Ferdinands first album. It is full of energy, and the songs are great. A classic album.

Met Alex in a pub in Camden a few years back. One of the most genuinely nicest people I’ve ever met. Lovely bloke
Loved this band since high school, now here married with a kid and they're still putting out excellent music. Love them all!
Where i live it's against the law to be married with a kid
@@badekaret Learn proper English first before trying to be a smartass.
Fun fact...Franz Ferdinand's LIVE US debut was at Amoeba Hollywood!
Jeff Buckley's Grace is a timeless masterpiece...One of the best albums recorded.
It's awful.
You're both wrong! It's just bang average 😉
Saw Mdou Moctar opening for Jack White, awesome band, they are amazing!
That Steve Reich record is a treasure. I've spun my copy so many times.
I LOVEEEE FRANZ FERDINAND!!! And I love how this video allows us to get to know them on another more personal level!

Listening to Audrey speak on RTJ is an absolute delight. I mean, the entire episode is really, but that in particular filled me with joy.
Nice atmosphere, great taste.
Because of this episode i checked out that Lucy And Aaron album on UA-cam, that was a great album with very original music. Thanks guys!!!👍😀
I've been really getting into Mdou Moctar since seeing this vid. I love finding new music 💖
Love this band. THis girl I think has joined within the last 3 years. Awesome accent! Gotta see what they've been up to.
I've been waiting for this band for a long time.
I love them 20 years after! 😘
Samuel Powell I will check them out! Thanx for the recommendation!!
Love the obscure stuff. Plus, I didn’t know that Daniel Rossen has a new album-I miss Grizzly Bear.
Audrey's a legend 🙌.
@Samuel Powell no
She joined the band fairly recently, how is she a legend?
Great band and picks here!
Franz Ferdinand is the best band alive and I'll protect them, also I loved their nerd choices
Yay Dino! It's always nice seeing another Reich fan tout his work!

Love Franz Ferdinand. Gr8 band
Wow very eclectic picks!
Shes beautiful and has good taste 😍
Love that he went for the Lucy & Aaron record, hope this puts some people onto that strange gem
Brilliant! Someone doing what should be done-discovering new stuff rather than telling us about Floyd etc for millionth time
This band and its tastes are a real treat.
Great band, nice to hear them chat about all types of music.Audrey's choices we're top draw some good stuff in there 👍😁

They seem like such good friends which is so lovely.
Been a fan of franz Ferdinand since day one, baby!! Great picks here, no surprise
If I used all of those albums as a week long playlist for myself in the woods, i won't get bored. However I might go crazy.

Jeff Buckley y FATM: dos de mis artistas favoritos ! ❤
Damn the singer looks exactly the same all these years later!

Dino's picks are immaculate 👌🏻
I think the members of Franz Ferdinand look like suuuuuper nice people. Like people you could have babysit your kids.
idk but this comments really funny lol
Ah Franz Ferdinand might have mellowed but the original line up were wild as hell!
I love Franz Ferdinand! But where is Bob???
Would love to see Earthless on this show. Wanna know if Isaiah Mitchell knows any krautrock albums I don't

Franz are definitely officially in their "wilderness" years right now in 2022.
Barrowland Ballroom is the best venue in the world xxx
VERY MILD WARP is gonna be my new band.
As soon as I saw Grace in passing I was hopeful
Which one is have to be the name of Ferdinand, Franz?
Aaron Dilloway! Ohio experimental legend

I’m French and it’s kind of difficult to understand that’s Scott’s woman.
i didnt understand her a word, had to put on subtitles
Dilloway was in Wolf Eyes!

my heart broke a little when she said boom bap hip hop doesn’t do anything for her lol i’m not mad tho different strokes

Her accent is thick.
It’s really not…it’s actually pretty tame
Compared to the other two it is
I swear i understood maybe 3 words wtf was that
She's from Rutherglen, that's as clean an accent as you'll get from that neck of the woods.
