I’m 8 months into a no buy year. It’s a great thing to do! Very liberating. The year is flying by. As I come up on the end of the year I’m starting to think about what I have used and loved and what stuff I haven’t touched so that I can pare down.

I was scrolling through UA-cam while doing some online shopping, and then I saw this. Perfect timing. My cart on asos is full with stuff, but I won't buy it :)
I have been watching videos about no buy and I did like six months during the pandemic of only buying groceries and saved so much money but after everything retuned to normal I find myself buying more and more so I have been thinking for a while now about doing a low buy year or no buy six months. One very important thing is to have a community of like minded people or people with the same goals, I joined two groups on Facebook one is low buy beauties and the other is The no buy year. I'm joining you in this journey and can't wait for your next update 😃
I did a no buy year in 2018 or 2019 (the las several years blur together since the pandemic). I made it until November! I think the mistake I made was still consuming content in the areas counting toward my no buy. This year, I made a $50 per month beauty budget and stopped watching most beauty content. I find I don’t want to consume much if I don’t see others consuming.

I spent this year impulsively shopping online. I never had a previous problem before. I also need a no buy year. To reset some habits and be more intentional. ❤
Hear hear! I’m now so overwhelmed with hygiene, skincare, and beauty products that I couldn’t even remember I have them in stock and I bought more! This is a bad sign. My home is full of unused products and clothes. They are becoming a big clutter and they weigh me down physically and mentally. In General it’s a good thing to save, and be reasonable with it; while treating yourself every once in a while. As a Asian person we do this naturally, and try to think priorities. I hope you can do it, it’s definitely hard. You got this!!!! I think you got a good start, you set your priorities; and set your exceptions. Two recommendations I’d give you is if you can save enough that you can store some of it for retirement in the future whether that’s a ira or 401k via your job if they offer it, and choose health for your wealth as in “choose good high quality food that will benefit you, than going for the cheap low quality that will slow you down (within reason)”.
This has definitely inspired me to take my spending more seriously. I am not a makeup person but beauty, clothing, eating out, and I am a perfume addict. I am going to join you on a no buy year starting soon. Thanks for the great content! Looking forward to the updates.
This was really inspiring! My spending has also gotten a little out of hand lately, and I'm currently working on being more strict with myself on my budget! While I don't think a low-buy is the right strategy for me, I wish you clarity and determination and I'm SO excited to see your updates and progress!

I’m a fellow Leo and I practiced a no-buy earlier this year. I’m planning to do it every year for January as a cleanse.
Grocery shopping tips: always buy fruits and veggies at either a local farmers market or Asian grocery store (my favourite) - so much cheaper and fresher ingredients.
Skincare tips: less is more! Your skin will learn to heal and recover on its own. You don’t need 5 step routines. Buy 1 high quality moisturizer and 1 high quality face wash. And stick to it.
Clothes: love it, I’m on this journey too. I’m gonna incorporate your tips!
Perfume: finding your unique scent can be an experience too! I know how much you like perfumes but you can really establish a signature smell (or like 4 you love to rotate )
Other saving tips: walk or subway as much as possible, don’t Uber. When you crave junk food, find it in a grocery store and make it, tea bags help keep Starbucks at bay- chai, green tea, camomile. Makes staying at home fun during colder weathers especially. Find a cute mug to make it more fun.
Ohh that makes me want to cuddle up at home instantly with hot tea, fluffy blanket and watch a feel-good movie💖

That sounds great😊 I like to treat myself, but sometimes I'm not sure if it is actually a treat and giving me the joy I think or if it is more a habit, maybe even coping mechanism.
However the year goes, I can imagine that it will give you more consciousness about spending money and about yourself!

I've been trying to start saving more as well. I look at all the makeup I have and kind of regret so many things that I bought, because I haven't used up enough products at all. 🥴 But it's never too late to make a change! Good luck, you can do it! 💕

I also had this thought lately concerning perfumes..I did not have a big collection to start with, almost 30. But I find it overwhelming, cause most I was not crazy about and as you said, it just caused more anxiety, because I found other perfumes I really liked but felt guilty buying them bwcause I already knew I had spent money on tje other ones I was not using. I have narrowed down to almost 15 perfumes now, but still feels too much. Minimalism really gives peace of mind

Love this has definitely inspired me to do the save and be smarter with my money to save for the things I really want and care about. I know buying fancy skincare and makeup is a wonderful things but should be done as a treat not a lifestyle where over consuming is being advertised as the norm, it’s just not sustainable for the vast majority of us. Get the house, get the car and get ahead of your career then indulge a little if you still want it by then.

Great video! Intermittent fasting/time restricted eating lifestyle saves me,it’s great for a budget and I’ve lost 30 pounds and kept the weight off over a year and a half it’s great for gut health as well and great on my skin I’ve aged in rewind 15 + years I also eat lower carb with healthy fats! Not sure how that would work with your schedule I’m on maintenance now! You look amazing I’ve enjoyed watching your work out videos ..

Thanks for sharing all the great insight! You are beautiful and probably don’t need to spend another dime on “makeup!” So many could probably not buy makeup for the rest of their lives and STILL have too much! 🤭 Investing in quality “skincare” is a MUST for a lot of people!

For anyone who is struggling with cutting down on spending- try looking for free samples. A lot of beauty stores will have free samples for things like perfume, the body shop usually have free samples of lotions and masks if you ask them at the desk. Some places do free food promotions when you download their apps like a free 'doughnut' and stuff like that. You'll be surprised what free stuff you can find when you start looking. There are apps available that share what places do free promotions.

A lot of time when I feel I want to buy a lot of things I don't need or something I can't quite afford I just put it in the basket and save for later

I agree with most of your plan except the food. Too much unnecessary stress living on the road. If you eat 35 meals a week, you can afford to eat out 7+ times and enjoy it! Also I wouldn't sweat the tax deductible stuff.
