Whoa, 9 months of no buy! Respect girl - I've failed all no buy months I've set out for myself. I am so here for all the things You have to say. Let me get my tea :)
I've been on a no-buy since the beginning of November and I'm going to stay in it until March. I spent way too much money last year during this time. So much of it was impulse buying. I have been keeping a wishlist too. At the beginning of November, my list was quite long. I don't think of any of those products now. At the end of my no-buy, we'll see what stays on the list. In this short period, my desire for newness just isn't there anymore. Great job making it 9 months!
You are so beautiful! ✨Thank you for sharing what you learned during your no buy. I'm doing a low buy this year. I agree with you that it's good to wait and try to avoid impulse purchases. I started my low buy in the middle of December and I have already avoided many unnecessary purchases just by waiting.
I'm thinking about a no-buy myself, thank you for sharing your experience... also I love the silver/ash mix in your hair...looks fabulous, especially those pieces in front!!
Also I laughed out loud when you were talking about an item on your wishlist from kosas and you said something like “I don’t even know what I was talking about” 😆
Fabulous conversation. I succumb to my favorite Reviewers (skin and parfum) and it is a very expensive hobby. I realize I was almost not getting the rest of my purchases in order: i.e. garden furniture or a new high quality pan for frying, a kitchen tool or even bedroom sheets because my first loves are controlling me. It is a struggle to do a no buy and I have not been successful. I have many wish lists (absurd!!!) PERHAPS just having 1 with categories would be more helpful. Yes. I am a working mess ;)
Love this! I did A LOT of buying in 2021, and spent the majority of 2022 doing a no buy in designated categories. I started w three months, then another three, and then through October since I knew I’d want to do some buying during Black Friday and the holidays. Last assessment, I had spent about 25% of what I spent in 2021. My “concession” was allowing myself my Beauty Heroes subscription. The no buy has been incredibly helpful and I too have a wishlist I keep on my phone. It is so helpful like you said! Would love to see a video on what you did get in Japan/black Friday/holiday spending if you do that. 😊
Thank you so much! I've gotten the Tina Fey comment throughout the years, especially when my hair was darker and when I have my readers on, LOL. But the Emma Watson one has been happening for the first time in my life, but like four times in the past few months! I don't know what it is?
shout out to makeup alley! loved it. i haven't gone on a no buy in years. great perspective. im on an instagram break and i can honestly say my desire to buy has been so low.
Congrats on your great self control! Thanks for the tips to help curb impulse buying. Time can definitely help make some potential purchases less appealing.
you look great, trish! thanks for sharing your experience with your no buy. i'm now strongly considering a no buy but def want to set myself up for success, so prob. after my b-day which is in January. i have so many questions, maybe we can catch up soon. what were you watching on yt or looking at on ig to prevent shopping temptations? i too got some manasi 7 items from boxwalla and love them all. props and flowers to you. you're just amazing inside and out 😘
Yes, definitely recommend setting yourself up for success! As far as IG and YT, I just pretty much stayed off of IG and still do for the most part. Regarding YT, I watched a lot of tennis highlights, LOL. And then I would only watch content from my fave UA-camrs that was not product oriented. I also found new creators to follow like HIGE + ME and Good Children, and also design channels like Local Project.

Listen, I'm no saint and fell off the wagon for my bday, and also received some PR so it wasn't a super strict no-buy. We all do our best :)

Thanks Arianne! Wishlists are so helpful and illuminating aren't they?

Thank you! ☺ Wishlists have been so helpful! Seriously the best tool in curbing overspending for me.

Thank you so much, I recently got an ashy toner and am really liking the results. :)

I still don't know what I was talking about LOL!! 🤣

And I discovered Mercari! 😮😮 to think that up to 10 years ago I only owned 1 parfum and very limited beauty and make up.
I am going for a no buy 2023.
Congrats and good luck! 🍀

Sounds like you did 9 months as well! Congrats! That's a great idea for a video Melanie, I will put it on the list 😚
totally off-topic but you are a mix of tina fey & emma watson with a dash of lea thompson. 😍 also, i really love your hair!

Here's to the MUA days, lol! And yeah, being off IG is a great way to save money for sure!!
I have thought of a You Tube Recess but I also derive pleasure and relaxation from beauty and parfum videos. GRRR
I just purchased clothing which I am convinced I needed (the spanx jeans are divine! See? That is how I start!!!).
Congrats on your great self control! Thanks for the tips to help curb impulse buying. Time can definitely help make some potential purchases less appealing.
Absolutely, nothing like the tincture of time!
Love the idea of a wishlist to avoid impulse purchases. Would love to hear a review of your Manasi 7 products.
More Manasi coming in 2023! 🎉
