HD - Rocky Balboa (2006) - inspirational speech

- Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place and I don't care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get it and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done! Now if you know what you're worth then go out and get what you're worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain't where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain't you! You're better than that!

He’s not only talking to his son, he is talking to all of us.
Absolutely.
This is so relevant right now in this very moment in time.
Plus he speaking from the heart, not as Rocky Balboa but as Sylvester Stallone
Agree about lesson for everyone alive but 1:04 is what everyone says about their scion. Parent child bond even if adopted. Is that why..?

Good job dude I don't know you but I'm proud of you that shit is hard
Congrats man! Hope you’re keeping things together today. You’re never alone. Keep moving forward.
"Don't forget to visit your mother." I don't think he could've ended that speech any better.
But who is?!
A mother protects and teach you fr the person you need to be fr the world you live in. A father teaches you to defend yourself for the world that is and how to survive it and no matter what you do they will be there fr u and every day i still get to see mine is the best thing i cld ask fr cause when there gone i will have nothing
Right? To me that’s the most genius ending to a great dialogue anyone could’ve written. Almost a throwaway, but still lands as heavy as the speech that precedes it. Masterclass.
Some mommas boys fr 😂
I feel like if Adrian was still alive she would have hugged Robert after Rocky gave him that speech.
Sylvester Stallone should have been nominated for an Oscar just for this scene alone.
The Oscars definitely hate this speech, it's basically telling people that it's no-one else's fault but their own for where they are in life and that doesn't fit Hollywood's agenda of 'The Message' or diversity politics.
They can't relate to meritocracy and good old fashioned toughness/masculinity.
Might be the best advice and speech ever given!
Amen!
He did win one for writing the first one 🤷♂️
The Oscar's are a joke and meaningless! Once they meant something but now it's just based on Hollywood elite throwing a party and promoting each others woke crap not actual for quality content. I understand what you meant and agree with your hypothetical statement thou if they were still really awards
I just wonder if Stallone is aware of how many people he helped with this scene.
Probably millions..
I sure hope he is.
It’s a key part to a lot of his public appearances
When I was in failing college. I kept watching this video. I got my Bachelor's degree and now a Manager at a great company. I always go back to this video when I was down. I just hope my kids one day could feel the same way when I first saw this video.
I really hope so
“But until you start believing in yourself, you ain’t gonna have a life.”

This did it to me just, I blamed everybody else for me cutting my hair off, not having the job I want etc
When in fact I now realise it's my own fault I listened to them when I shouldn't have and kept growing it. Made me feel complete.
And it's my own fault for not trying hard enough to get a decent job. I'm now slowly buying equipment to have my own painting and decorating buisness.
I absolutely love it when he says “It ain’t about how hard you hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward”.
Like many before me have said, this speech saved me. I was an addict, 5 years sober. I was about to give up, relapse, and let the hurt win. Then I saw this movie. I have this full quote in my journal, planner, anr every notebook. It keeps me safe. It keeps me sober.

Keep pushing forward!!
You came here cuz there's no one around that stands up and actually motivated you from the heart like Rocky did. We all need a Rocky in our lives.
And even if you have someone that tries to motivate you, they can't do it like Rocky. No one needs "it's gonna be fine" kinda inspiration.

This scene is more valuable than tons of motivational books, speeches on tedx etc. You seriously need just to know that.
But How to believe in ownself after so many years believing in others? 😢
@@Edzhjus I need an answer too
I couldn't agree more
@@Edzhjus Not relying on others to accomplish what you need to accomplish. All you need is a connection to God and he will give you confidence, faith and courage to build the life you have always wanted. Repent, trust Christ and get to know the biblical God, that way you will keep improving yourself.
Absolutely
I knew an Army Vet who desperately needed this talk. Dude used to be a badass, he used to keep fighting, but for years after his service he just blamed everyone else for every problem in his life. He died from liver failure because he treated himself like shit and would never pick himself up, no matter how much you lifted him. I wish he had a Rocky that could get through to him, I sure couldn’t.
Man it's sad that a fictional character gave me better life advice than anyone ever has.
Ever read the Bible
Good advice, REAL advice, is just good advice.
It doesn't matter where it came from.
Ever heard the quote,
"Heroism is endurance,
For just a moment more"?
Ever know who said it?
It was a guy named George F. Kennan.
Who's that?
I dunno, it doesn't matter to me, it's straight facts, and facts don't give two shits who states them, because real is real.
Inspiration can come from anywhere and yeah, it kinda sucks that we don't always get it from thise we expect it from, but if you do get it, are you gonna turn it down just because it came from someone you didn't expect it from?
I hope not...

Anyone else appreciate how the writing of these films showed that Rocky progressively got wise as he aged?
Indeed.
I love this
Stallone took good care of this franchise and it shows
People get wiser as they grow older.
@@harisgate1 Many do. Others get old and angry having learned nothing. Age is not the same as wisdom, but when you meet an older person who is wise, listen up. You'll get no better advice.
This speech makes me cry! I didn't even get into the Rocky franchise, but the message of "It doesn't matter how many times you get knocked down, it's how many times you get back up" really gets to me! ❤️

I feel like Stallone is constantly under-estimated as an actor. He's been typecast as this cheesy action figure, but the performance in this scene is just as powerful as any Oscar winner I have ever seen. I hope in the future he gets more serious acting roles.
He made the decision to become an action star himself. He can be a great actor when he wants to be.

That part always hits the hardest, because it's the truth. We're all scared of putting ourselves out there. We're scared of the world, of the people, the negativity. But it's necessary to beat that fear, because that's what's really keeping you down. Be willing to take risks, take punches, learn from your mistakes if you fail. What’s even crazier about this scene is that Sylvester Stallone (the actor) came from nothing and now he’s worth $400M or more this man is an example to follow a LEGEND truly.
I think that's why this scene works so well. He's talking to us from experience
You have to live that kinda life in order to understand…and that’s why Stallone can deliver these type of speeches with such conviction because he was that man living in the struggle back then when life was knocking him down…

".. that reality check"
The words from Sly in this scene are absolutely spot on. Imagine how society would be if people actually held themselves accountable and had less of the "victim mentality" that's rampant today?!
Absolutely right. The man had a dream and refused to give up on it and refused to allow others to steal that dream.
I can't watch this scene without crying. You're right, Stalone spoke to all us in this one. This is the mose powerful scene in all the Rocky saga I think. He's absolutely right though, that is how winning is done. One has got to be willing to hurt and keep smiling because ultimately, it's a long road to the finish. Stay hard people.
This speech has literally kept me alive. Stallone is brilliant.
My father needed me to help him battle cancer. Yet he wanted me to keep studying. He lost the fight. I lost my only family. But... I graduated. I did 22 interviews for fear I’d have no help and I needed a job. The last interview?.... I....it pays 90,000. I got it.
Hell yeah brother. You beat the shit out of life and you will succeed through any endeavor
Congrats brother
Keep moving forward
My man!
Congrats man! I’m sorry about your father, cancer is just so vicious, but keep up your hard work man much respect ✊
22 interviews. Dayum. Respekk.
The world ain't all sunshine and Rambos.
Lol
Nice
hahahahhahahhha i cant unhear it now bless you
Most underrated comment ever
Really enjoyed that comment. Good work
The whole movie turns at this point. It was a decent nostalgic trip to wash Rocky V away. But this turned it in to a really good movie.
I still wash Rocky V away from everything because i really love Rocky Balboa movie including all Rocky movies (1 to 4) for example in Rocky Balboa movie there’s many proof and some moments that i say “man, this is alot more better than Rocky V”
I got diagnosed with incurable B cell lymphoma 8 years ago right after the birth of my daughter. I watch this from time to time to remind myself to keep fighting. 8 years and zero treatment because of lifestyle changes and supplements. I’ll never stop fighting for my family.
Prayers for you and your family 🙏
The Fact that Stallone himself wrote that script and the quote makes it all the more genuine,Because like many say in the comment section.
He’s not only talking to his son,
He is talking to all of us.
I hope Stallone knows that he helped and gave a lot of people strength.
Every time my depression kicks me down, every time I’m at my lowest this speech snaps me out of it.
It ain’t about how hard ya hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. 💕💕
NO MO Whining thanks I will ^_^
Shannon Mott I've been there before. Keep pushing forward, don't give up. It's only temporary.
Damn right
I feel u
Yes ...same here ...
Ryt now i am down to earth cuz this is the 2nd time i have been washed out of all the subjects in 3 rd med college...
This speech makes me realise that how hard the life fucked u up ...u gotta move forward to be better and dont ever fckn give up!!!!!
I’ve been coming back to this video for over a decade now, watching it dozens of times over the years when it was what I needed to hear. I’ve never commented on it and don’t expect my comment to ever be seen amongst the 13K+ comments, but I just have to express my appreciation for how uplifting and encouraging this video is. Thank you for these words! 🙏🏼
I memorized this speech, to keep in my mind and say to myself at hard times, but one thing happened, my friend was so depressed for a long time, and i decided to tell him this one, it didnt only helped her, it also made us a family :)
Watching this 10 minutes before my interview.
Aditya Pasari If you’re not 15 minutes early you’re late.
I think you are now the director of company
Here I am watching this video before my interview too hahah
Aditya Pasari I almost this coke all out in public
Did you make it?
Probably the best scene in history ⭐️
Which movie is!?
@@samuelmejia9238 Rocky Belboa
Best speech. The other dude’s acting was.. ehhh.
One of the best quotes ever for sure!
I still have the marlon brando and al pacino scene in Godfather 1 as my fav. But this isn't far behind.
When I feel down, I come to this video to give myself motivation
Same here I try to remind myself where life ain't always gonna be easy and neither are people they'll judge me and talk shit about me no matter what I do,but I shouldn't lose my faith and inner peace just because I'm not acknowledged...I get with a lot of criticisms a lot but I never try to let it destroy me I'd just tell myself do the best I can and ignore naysayers who aren't worth being in my life.
If they'll bring me problems instead of happiness and peace your not alone I'm totally there with you.
Never get tired of listening this speech. This will go on as one of the best lines on film history
_It’s _*_2020_*_ and this scene fits well for today’s standards._
Fits for 2021 too.
Yes 2020 is good
My generation needs to hear this speech
2021 if you are in india!
@@vishwajeetdhamdhere3210 Stay strong!
This speech saved my life. I was in a very bad spot in my life and this speech came on tv commercial and kept me going
me too
same here bro.
me too bro
This speech came out on Advanced Warfare
Love and respect. Keep you head up, Les. We are all pulling for you.
This scene alone is what puts such a beautiful punctuation onto Rocky's life.
We get to see all the lessons Rocky learned himself just from starting his life as a poor hired fist persuader boxer with dreams, to a legend in a sport because of everything he went through. Each opponent he faced was a boss level up and he found the strength within himself every time to win. That became a metaphor for a life lesson he now passes onto his son.
Rocky is sharing with his son and us how to win at life without sugar coating anything. What a G.
Been watching Rocky since 1984 since i was 8 years old. This part right here Hits harder than any other punch Rocky took from Apollo, Mr. T and Drago...
When Sly Stallone dies, I am going to be fucking inconsolable. Such a crucial piece of my childhood and the man that showed me what heart was.
He was a legend
I'm going to run longer than I ever have. I'm going to run so far that I won't be able to feel my toes, that I won't be able to bend my knees without wanting to collapse on them, that I won't see straight and my eyes will burn of salt. When I'm at that point I'm going to turn around and run back.
Sylvester Stalone will always be the man that taught me what being a man was all about.
God I dont even want to think about that. :(
this video made me stay at med school after i wanted to drop out and now after 4 years i became a doctor looking back at this video reliving my lowest point just brings me to tears, thanks for making me who i am rocky, i fucking love you
Do you have any advice for a highschool student that wants to go to med school? Like what should i be doing now and in university??
Armyguywizerdo16 the best advice i can give you is that be 100% sure that you want to become a medical doctor because the journey is hard as hell, i mean literally studying all day kind of hard (before exams) and you better comprehend what your studying now is rookie level , keep in mind that some periods you will study for an entire month (2 weeks before exams + the 2 exam weeks). so unless your 100% sure dont make the mistake in getting in. good luck in whatever dreams you have
tom brown
I ACTUALLY THINK I JUST GOT MORE OUT OF YOUR STORY THEN ROCKYS. EVERYONE KNOWS BECOMING A PHYSICIAN IS PROBABLY TOP 3 OF SOMETHING WORKING TO BECOME. TRUE TRUE. THANKS ROCKY. BUT REALLY THANK YOU " DOC"
tom brown but it's still very sad that doctors from now nothing know about nutrition only giving antibiotics but not anymore looking from a whole vieuw. The health system is fucked up in the Future is nutrition the Future not medicine:)
shush jasper lmao wtf
Rocky Balboa was a boxer so his statement “it’s not about how hard you can hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit” is an analogy to how many loses he took during his boxing career/real life experiences and his ability to keep moving foward despite the amount of loses he took. His anecdotal experience of boxing is a perfect metaphor that applies to real life situations and why we should keep going not matter what obstacles are thrown at us. This is a great metaphor describing the troubles and challenges that we all face in real life and how we must keep moving forward despite our loses.
This scene always makes me tear up😢
