sandro struggling to not laugh while explaining shaft play killed me
I was doing a little "you laugh, you lose" when he mentioned it, but watching him laugh got me
Yes! He's super cute!
He is a champion of No Shaftplay September
Never even seen this man's channel and he is my absolute favorite
James was a MENACE this episode, Sandro did his best 😅
Sandro is one of my favorite people now. Low key hope he ends up on Donut as a semi regular
arent they already kinda semi regular
@@113MrHappyon this channel yea but he doesn’t pop up much on donut.
I came down here to say the same thing. More Sandro please
You do know this is Donuts partner channel right? So by proxy he is a regular feature.. and I'm stocked
I think your wish is granted. He is one of the most regular non-regulars. But I would like to see him on high/low as a contributing mechanic to the builds. His personality is chill af
Sandro and Angelina needs to be a permanent members of Donut and with a mechanic reacts on this channel every day. These mechanic reacts videos are some of my favorite videos to watch.
The Angelina/Sandro dichotomy is the best thing ever. I love these people!
I love how Angelina gives a very in-depth explanation of what happened and Sandro is just like "shit blew up gg"
She's used to being a teacher.
@@althejazzman And he's used to making a living off of idiots fucking up their cars
And I'm here for both all day long 😆
There the perfect ying and yang
" Turbos? Go vroom / "
I love sandro's vibe,"you're a real mechanic right? " sandro "I try" 😂🤣😂🤣😂
that's called humility. He's got it in abundance... a real gentleman
derrrrrrr
@@chuckholmes2075 He didn’t even know what a runaway diesel was, so he isn’t much of a mechanic.
@@adamr9215 yes he does.. he was on another episode where they featured turbos and runaway diesel engines and how to stop them. Trust me Sandro knows
@@chuckholmes2075 Yea, they fed him scripted answers because he knows nothing. If he didn’t recognize it this time, that proves that he is incompetent and just reads his answers.
Sandro UNDERSTANDS the boys.
Angelina and Justin is hilarious together 🎉
6:30 It's called diesel runaway and it happens when seals in turbo give up and it lets oil into intake. It starts running at very high rpm because diesel engines burn oil very well. You can't shut the car down and it will run until it runs out of oil and engine locks up. You have three options basically either stall it if you have an manual, cover the intake so no air gets into intake which is dangerous or wait until engine locks up.
Can I combine option 4. *RUN* with of the other/all options?
You can stall it out if it's manual but slamming it in park won't do shit. Runaway is scary shit.
I was thinking the same thing! I'm surprised they didn't know what a runaway diesel was.
@@perryrush6563 A better option, 4. Runaway from the soon to be flying bits of metal...
They don't know much about actual vehicles that they can't easily google
"you're a real mechanic, right?"
Sandro: "I try." 😆
Literally my favorite guy on this show.
I love these two! Sandro keeps it real. Angelina is more technical but still light.
Learned a lot! Thanks for featuring my chocolate milk turbo fail!😂😭
I love how Sandro's explanations are simple and straightforward ( for dummies like myself ) and Angelina's are a bit more in depth but still simple enough to grasp ( she's definitely an instructor).
he is a hands-on guy who actually builds and repair cars. she is a shop teacher at a college.
its like real life experience vs theory.
@@dimosk7389💡
I like Sandro's explanations way more. They help you understand what physically happens without the official terms. His explanations motivate me to just take it apart and see what happens without worrying. I've always struggled with teachers overcomplicating things eventhough the terms they used were "correct". My photography teacher had this whole story about camera aperture. And at the end I said okay, so it's basically just a hole that opens and closes. And if you make the hole bigger, obviously more light comes in and you get a brighter photo. It's not rocket science please.
@@RacingPepe that is true
I like em both for different reasons. I love the additional technical info
I agree with Sandro's diagnosis "too much power couldn't handle it"....10/10 for the mexican vampire mechanic.
None of them know what their talking about . That engine was fine. It was reinforced and made much more power. Diesels arent gas engines . Totally different animals.
@@markrich3271 the exploded engines on fire with stuff sucked into the impeller wheels are fine? I wouldn't let you near my car.
@@markrich3271lol you obviously don’t know about the torque limitations of diesel engines. That’s why nitrous is used to make HP while limiting torque on diesel applications. And based off the flame it looks like that’s what they did to it. Too much juice for the setup so it exceeded the turbos limit.
@@markrich3271 The engine exploded. Seems like to much power somewhere
@@TheOhsemixthis really sounds like what happened. That would explain the immediate stoppage of coal rolling and what looked like video-game nitrous flames coming out those pipes. Crazy to me that some people don't understand that heavy-duty diesels shouldn't be spinning at twice the tach's max revs
Edit: also forgot to mention, rolling coal is pretty dumb. All it is is having a very rich fuel map tune flashed onto the ECU for the sake of cLoUt
I need more of Sandro and Ms. A! They are really good mechanics and entertaining to watch!!
Angelina and Sandro are killing it! This is one of my favorite channels because of them.
Angelina and Sandro are definitely in the dream blunt rotation
I feel like if I gave Sandro a 4loko gold and played 4k by El Alfa records would be broken
FR lmaooo

12/10 would love to smoke with Sandro. He's a vibe.
You can tell Angelina is an automotive instructor, she's always does such a good job explaining what's going on and why it happens, and how to avoid that problem. Her students must come out as real experts if they pay attention.
Exactly. Sandro obviously knows a lot, but can't explain it to save his life. Angelina is able to explain things very clearly without hesitation.
@@andoletubefor sure, it’s nice hearing their different explanations though. Angelina breaks it down and Sandro keeps things simple
and she's hot as FK
She knows a lot, but her statement that turbos dont rob power to make power is completely false. They dont really borrow from gross power output like a supercharger, but the back pressure created by a turbo simply robs the power before it even makes it to the crank. Dont believe me, stick a turbo in the exhaust flow of an N/A engine and see how it reduces power output. And then on top of that, the boost created on the compressor side also slows the impeller and in turn creates even MORE back pressure.
Her explanation of what happened to that Corvette is absolutely wrong. More than likely what happened was something in the intake/turbo blew apart, and then the fire come from all the unburnt fuel because it was running so rich due to loss of boost this isn’t the only episode where she was incorrect
Angelina and Sandro are both knowledgeable and so entertaining at the same time. I love watching this series. This combination is well balanced and fun. Keep it up. Cheers! 😊
Just found you guys today and Sandro is quickly becoming a fave. Keep him coming back
James: "I'm gonna give you a preemptive 'get your minds out of the gutter!'"
Sandro: mind is climbing the ladder, getting ready to dive into the gutter
That food joke was hilarious
i saw the joke coming too and it still hit so hard
10/10 timing + delivery
I owned a 1963 Oldsmobile Jetfire which was one of the first Turbo cars. It ran fine, but you had to make sure you kept up on Turbo Fluid Maintenance. It used a special fluid to keep the turbo lubricated. I had the car for 3 years and sold it to a man down the road and he used it for another 10 years.
Angelina and Sandro are such wholesome people ❤ this channel is fire
Angelina spitting some knowledge, while Sandro is Just like " Yep, that's not good! "😂
Engine: 💥💥💥💥
Sandro: "Sh!t that's wild. 🫡"
The difference between a teacher and a normal mechanic.
Angelina teaches you what the diagnosis is, Sandro is just like: "welp, you're fucked."
Not really. To an educated ear she’s often wrong.
Sandro: it’s bad because it’s broken.
Angelina: giving technician A & B responses.
This channel is amazing, I'm a beginning mechanic myself and i love learning about cars this way!! Much love to you all
I see Sandro and Angelina on a thumbnail, I click to watch and like
Dude Justin was on fire on this one!!!
Justin and Angelina had such a chemistry on today's episode! I love the way you turbo... No wiggly! And Sandro is always so cool!

'experts' yet they don't know what a runaway diesel is... 🙄
@@mikey_bb being a diesel mechanic and being a mechanic are not the same thing. That's why the designation "DIESEL" mechanic exists. Ntm you also would not know what a runaway is if it wasn't for the internet. Pleb
@@mikey_bb exactly, also commenting about how they said that a 2000hp diesel shouldnt smoke at all at 13500 altitude. smh

They both are amazing! Love the other guests throughout the series too, but these two are my favourites! They need to become part of Donut!!!
I'd love to have a couple beers with Angelina and Sandro; hell the whole DONUT crew. Oh the stories and knowledge that would be shared.
Except for two small problems, that mechanics hate cars.
Because cars make us bleed and besides, no one wants to talk about work for a few beers...
[except for venting about dumb shit owners, crappy parts, impossible to service cars, etc....]
@@davidhollenshead4892 I think that's true for most people. And also why a lot of car people choose not to do it professionally. If your day is already 8-10 hours of one thing, most people are happy to then talk about and do other shit. I'm sure both of them are fun to hang out with, no doubt, but I think they'd rather keep the car talk to a minimum.

Oh I know. I'm a tech by trade. Can't work right now and had to sell my baby but I still have a passion for this love/hate relationship...

Plus he gives us gems like this. Always great to see guests reciprocating James' improv-randomness.
this just gave me the thought that, since James is a UCB alum, he should coach a Donut improv team for a live show
James is cringe. Definition of trying too hard.
@@baseddoggiehe’s funny just not for you ig
@@baseddoggie Being a hyperbolic "try-hard" is literally his whole gag, my guy. Besides, there are much worse things to be than someone that tries "_too hard_" at whatever it is they are doing. I'll never understand how that took off as an insult because it kind of outs the person that says it as jealous/lazy. Always better to try "too hard" than not at all.
@@moogle68 yeah ok, I personally dont like it at all and I think he's a douche. That's not going to change my mind
So glad that you made a separate channel for these. Absolutely love it!
Sandro and Angelina are definitely my favorite mechanics.
I love that Sandro doesn't give a shit about monetization and just goes all in in every video 🤣
That Volvo was just a runaway Diesel, not a turbo fail. Once that happens, that engine will rev itself apart unless there is someone who knows what they are doing. Loving the channel btw! Sandro and Angelina are the stars of these episodes! :D
Either choking the intake or cutting off the fuel flow will work, but there are caveats for both:
-Choking the intake may not work as if there's a loose fit or crack on any piping, it'll just suck in air through those gaps and continue to rev like mad. If you have direct access to the front of the compressor, then you can just put something solid like a block of wood in front of it and hold it down until it chokes.
-Cutting off the fuel supply may not work as if the turbo has an especially bad oil leak, then it will just siphon off of the engine's oil supply until it detonates from a lack of lubrication.
If the vehicle has a manual transmission, then you could instead try to stall the engine.
@@uberschnilthegreat22 even by cutting the fuel flow, most of the time run away diesels runs on the engine oil
@@retrocompaq5212 If you read all of my comment, you would have seen I mentioned that.
It’s funny nobody said about runaway diesel, because they don’t have diesel Volvos in the States! 😅
@@uberschnilthegreat22 This hole episode made me shake my head, like they had no idea how turbos even worked outside of what a book says. Glad someone said what really happened on the Volvo.
I cringed when they explaned the "chocolate milk" not even one part of a turbo system links to water, unless you have an air to water intercooler. Then the catch can to keep oil out of the water part.. super cringe. lol
Justin just show us, he's a real awesome host! Great video, thank you guys!
Sandro's laugh killed me again 😂😂
That turbine spinning around like that is a pretty incredible feat to accomplish. That was sick

I’m developing the biggest HS like crush on Angelina. These mechanic videos are my new addiction, they have expanded my maintenance engineering skills by really enforcing “safety first”.
Keep them going.
Sandro is my favourite! He’s perfect for this channel
New Hi/Low idea: Sandro & Angelina on low car versus the Donut crew on Hi car. Betting on low car all day.
Love Sandro, his reactions are the best, and Justin and Angelina are hilarious, love their chemistry!
i feel bad for Sandro having to be stuck with James every time. That dude acts like a drunk douchebag and I think they pair him with Sandro because Sandro's chill balances out James' cringe...
Love both of these folks. They know their stuff, and they seem like they'd be a blast to drink a beer with 🙂
I love Sandro and Angelina they are just a whole vibe
Love how Angelina just breaks it down and goes into instructor mode. Much love and respect!
Justin cracking Angelina up, and Sandro’s way of saying things were great.
Sandro is great. I would love to see him take apart more things or explain unofficial creative ways he has solved things. That's a real mechanic. Modern day cars aren't built for repairs, only for replacements, and therefore modern day mechanics don't have the kind of creativity and experience they had 20 years ago.
Definitely look forward to any video with Sandro and Angelina
Sandro and Angelina, never miss
Sandro absolutely needs his own show, man is hilarious
Sandro has always been awesome, great to see him let if flow.
Sandro making a crazy face in the thumbnail this’ll be good
How comes that someone like Angelina or Sandro didn't have an own Channel? Educated, well articulated, many life lessons learned and willingly sharing them... you HAVE to keep em on the show! 🤗
Angelina does have a channel, though. She mentioned it a few episodes back and i had a look but it's more educational mechanics theory and how to's if i remember correctly...

Sandro mentioned "the boys!" Take a shot.
I like the way you turbo, No WIGGITY!!! Angelina cracked me up with that one.🤣
I like the way you turbo, no wiggedy no play 😂
6:22 that´s called a runaway diesel. Diesel cars dont need spark to ignite the fuel and if fuel (or oil) gets uncontrollably into the cylinder(ECU error or Diesel Pump error or Oil Pump error), it can ignite by itself. If this happens, the car will rev uncontrollably, until the engine blows itself up or you block the intake. Thankfully this happens very rarely. (this would be a great Donut video. You can make a diesel engine run away and explain how that happend)
You’d think they would know that based on the fact that it says that on the video they’re watching lol
Oh it's a wonderful day when you guys upload!
My two favorite guests on this channel too!!
Yall should have these guys/gals inspect the project cars yall build. Love all the content, never misses 420/69 content
Love these! Could we get some motorcycle fail reactions?
I love that they felt the need to explain that you shouldn’t throw burritos into your engine. 😂
