This must have ben like a gleaming, platinum bright broadsword cutting through everyone. In the best possible way of course
The king of heldentenors!!!!
Eternal respects to this force of nature🙏🙏🙏🙏
Ecco il vero tenore Wagneriano! Melchior ha la voce perfetta per Wagner! 👏💪🤩
Bravo bravo bravo super super super wow wow wow fantastic grandiose genial music and vocal
He makes Wagner sound beautiful.
Was? Das ist der 1. Tenor, den ich höre der Tau-be singt, wie Wagner es kompniert hat! Keine vetbundene Note, und Tau, fermate, hält er sehr lange! 😍
There is recording of this where Melchior is in even better voice, the orchestra is that of the metropolitan opera, and it is a live performance. That recording may be the best on record of this particular aria. But overall this one shows Melchior at his best in superior sound quality.
Это великолепно!!
THE Heldentenor. He had it all!!
Heldentenor supremo!
😩👏🏼❤️❤️❤️❤️
Grande Europe !
I'm making allowances for mechanical recording and I think the orchestra needed a few more weeks of rehersal and possibly a new conductor.
Jahr?
Vogt is way better! Vogt is Mr.DiQuellaPira and Mr.Wintersturme
😂😂😂😂😂no
Always some troll comment below those Melchior uploads. Seriously though, Vogt and Melchior have completely different voices. I'm not even going to debate who is better or more suited for Wagner. They are totally different.
His midfle is fantastic. But I didn’t like his high notes. His covering sounds strange, not on the highest level. Don’t know , may be it was better live..
🤦🏻
He wouldn't be able to sing those high notes with classic Italian technique. I agree that his technique is strange. Not suited for most of the Italian repertoire. But for Wagner he was perfect. The high notes are NOT dark but bright and forward. Listen to del monaco singing this. Del Monaco uses classic Italian technique, chiaroscuro, cover and so on, and his high notes do not have the ring and the brighter squillo of those of Melchior. There is one singer who is comparable to Melchior in some way: Jacques Urlus.
I agree, it definitely sound like he's straining a lot on the top notes. Unless the quality of this old recording fools us, he's very constricted there. Very few voices could sing like this and still have the stamina to handle this aria with ease after most of the opera has already been sung. Singing top notes like he does works very well for Siegfried and Siegmund in my opinion, but not as much in this aria.
