You could argue that he is the only opera singer who is absolutely unique in his Fach. No one comes close to him. And think of all the heroic music he had sung before this little cameo, beginning in the 1920’s. He opens his mouth and he sounds about 25.
Especially funny considering Melchior loved hamming it up as much as Victor. My gosh though, he sounds better than most tenors even late in life in a comedy sketch!
Amazing. Voice is very fresh. He sang Tristan over 150 times. The the singer with next most performances had 50. Lots of hard miles on that voice, but very little wear.
Love this as a fan of both Danes. But what is the reference to what I assume is Toledo (Borge: "Must be a lot of people here from Toledo, that's all I can say") at 0:50?

Love both Borge and Melchior!
Two great Danes ......
Qué potencia de voz por Dios.
Two musical (and funny) legends, Lauritz and Victor.

...than "most" tenors...! ...you think...?!!! One can tell that you are no affectionate of vocal music!

Lauritz makes a very apt Borge stooge - that look of hurt surprise, for example.
Perlman?
Opera voices use to show signs of wear as singers get older. Melchiors voice didn´t!
What is he taking out of his pocket?? I am so modern that I think he tries to record with a gsm but of course that's impossible.
A comb and a mirror.
He combs his hair and admires himself.
