Lohengrin ist eine romantische Oper in drei Akten des deutschen Komponisten Richard Wagner. Sie spielt vor einem historischen Hintergrund (Brabant in der ersten Hälfte des 10. Jahrhunderts). Die Uraufführung war am 28. August 1850 in Weimar im Großherzoglichen Hoftheater.[1] Grundlage des Stoffes ist die Gestalt des Loherangrîn in Wolfram von Eschenbachs mittelhochdeutschem Versepos Parzival.

He sang at the Athens Concert Hall many years ago, just before shooting to superstardom. I have seen him since in Adriana Lecouvreur, Otello and Andrea Chénier (superb) at the ROH Covent Garden. But that Athenian concert l will never forget. The voice was long, virile and pure. Exemplary phrasing, respiratory reserve, diminuendo and pianissimo. He then offered this Grail Monologue as an encore: not a dry eye in the house!

Westjet007 The conductor is Tony Pompano who is English, at least that is who it appears to be. He and Kaufmann often work together.
