    I'm retired now but when I painted this little unit was my go-to. Mainly because my other pumps (Now collecting dust in the garage) were heavy. Great units but you have to keep them clean. Thanks for the video. Good job.

      Thank you. I agree this is a great sprayer for the price.

    Thanks for the video , my x7 had the same situation and the fuse on the little board had failed . I replaced the fuse and motor started to run again . I removed built up paint but I think the pump is shot. The best thing to do is invest on a there high end painter where the pump can quickly be replaced and rebuilt while you have it out.. these lower models are toys ! I will never purchase a residential model again..

    I'm a home owner. Sticking with the Mag ProX17 Airless with the easy-to-change pump. It's twice the price, but the easy pump change is worth the price. Money talks, but this sprayer also has better filtering meaning you don't have to change the pump as much.

    Graco x17 pump replacement is super easy 👍🏽

      Yes it is. I have one of those also. They are about twice as much in price though. 👍👍

      @@DIYAllied yeah twice as much, but worth it. I also have a avanti by harbor freight that I use for rough jobs. I buy the $50.00 warranty then when it breaks I just turn it back in for a brand new one, and continue the cycle over again! 👍🏽

    Thanks for doing this video. I let my neighbor borrow my x7 and it was leaking water from that spot under the gears. Yes I got it back and cleaned it again and found the problem before he could say I didn’t do it. Lol on my way with my motor and pump to the graco shop and see if it’s done for. Luckily it’s not even close to the sprayer in your video

      You are welcome. I'm guessing that if you caught it early you should be ok. I'm curious what it would cost to have it fixed. Good luck to you.

    These are great little sprayers for the price. They pay for themselves after using it on the first paint job. I also paint for a living.

    I am a Painter also and use the Holly Homemaker pumps as I call them, I just had my Graco project plus start leaking today after about 120 gallons and it was cleaned pretty well after each job, I am still happy it sprayed that much paint it was well worth the 220 bucks . Going to try out the harbor freight cheapy that I had as a back up Tomorrow " read goood things about it" Good vid !

      how is the harbor freight sprayer working?

  • @Highnz57
    @Highnz57 2 роки тому +1

    Idk if it's the economy or these pumps just got old, but the replacement pumps are around $180-$200 and an entirely different unit, i think used in good condition, for around the same price.
    I was gonna fix mine but now I'm thinking just buy another.

    Thank you for the two interesting videos. My pump was leaking and now it rattles and it won't spray. I took it apart and the motor is working fine. It looks like I need a new pump, but also maybe the gear kit? You indicated that the gear kit is not replaceable?

      I have not found that part available in the past but it may be out there now. I haven't looked in a while.

    Checking this out made me think about removing the gun from the hose itself. Maybe make a video about that? I had a difficult time getting mine off-it’s like they machined it on, instead of hand tightening-but there are no videos about it on UA-cam.
    Thanks for your videos.

    • @DIYAllied
      @DIYAllied  5 років тому

      Thank you. Ya the guns can end up being very difficult to remove. I have a video about cleaning the gun but not removing it.

    • @marcus6425
      @marcus6425 5 років тому

      Yeah, like I’ve put serious pressure to turn it and nothing. Looks like I’ll have to resort to penetrating fluid to see if it will loosen it up, though there’s no rust..

    • @DIYAllied
      @DIYAllied  5 років тому

      @@marcus6425 I have resorted to using two vise grips in the past. I try to take it off a little more regularly now to avoid that problem. It will be can be very stubborn though.

    This is exactly where my pump is leaking. So replace the pump? I put a good 5 gallons through when it started leaking, hopefully it's not to gummed up. Thank you again!

    Good video. I have this model and am not a professional painter. I've run at most 50 gallons through it and the pump is leaking. I was shocked when I opened it and paint was all over the gears and motor. What a crap design. Disappointing that it has a big Made in the USA sticker on it.

    • @DIYAllied
      @DIYAllied  4 роки тому

      Oh man that's rough. Sorry to hear that. Ya it's a bit disappointing that if the pump leaks it ruins the gears. I feel your pain. I have a video on the graco magnum prox17. One of it's premium features is a quick change pump.

    When im done for the evening and gonna start first thing in the morning do I need to completely flush the system everytime, im sure its probably suggested to im using a 100% exterior acrylic paint and primer mixed spraying in on aluminum siding

    • @DIYAllied
      @DIYAllied  4 роки тому +2

      You have a couple options for storing overnight or for a few days. 1. Let the pressure off by turning the machine off and flipping it to prime. Remove both of the tubes and wrap them in plastic wrap. 2. Let pressure off, leave both tubes in the paint and then either plastic wrap the top of the can or use a wet rag to cover the top of the can. If you are spraying from a 5 gallon bucket with a hole in the lid just stuff a rag in that opening to seal it off. The paint won't dry in the machine but it will obviously dry on anything that is exposed to the air

      @@DIYAllied thank you very much for the information, today I flushed the whole system with hose water hooked up directly and flushed till 100% clean water flowed, but i did forget to clean the filter i hope it will be OK, i gonna startup again at 8 in the morning, but thank you again it's all adjusted properly thanks to you and it will definitely lay a layer of paint as smooth as glass.

    As painter is better to buy the warranty.

    • @DIYAllied
      @DIYAllied  5 років тому

      It kinda depends how much you plan to use it. The pump will last more than the 3 year warranty if its cared for and used sparingly.
