Yugioh's worked with companies before to make archetypes based on other properties like Kaijus and Dragonmaids but if they wanted to do something with Marvel it'd probably be too similar to HEROs which already exists
They could just make alt-arts for existing HERO monsters, like a Batman alt for Bubbleman, or Hawk man alt for Avian. (Yeah I know those two are DC but you get the idea)
As someone who doesn't watch/read much Marvel or DC but does know about Japanese shows then they can definitely do this, the Masked HERO's are based off of Kamen Rider but the Inzektor (another archetype) are also based off of Kamen Rider, mainly Kamen Rider Kabuto. So Masked HERO's are based on the franchise overall with Inzektor based off of a series of the franchise. They could definitely do the same with Western shows
They could actually make it a variation of HEROs There's masked heros, elemental heros, etc They could called marvelous HEROs or something idk I'd be also an excuse so HEROs could get more support lol
A great idea would have been Yugioh characters traveling to a Marvel universe and Pegasus teams up with some smart villains like Octavius or Osborn without knowing they're villains. They help Pegasus build tech for a new game similarly to this story, but the game features creatures from Marvel in their art with names changed. An example would be a Shumagorath card called 'Cephalopod of Calamity' and such, but when card is activated the device summons those beings from their respective dimensions. Then the Avengers or some group come to save the day and fail, so they team up with the Yugioh protagonists like Seto and Yugi. Kaiba makes cards of his own based on Marvel heroes such as a Living Tribunal card called 'Judgement of the High Priest' or something to that effect. Then Seto teams up with Tony Stark to build a copy of the Pegasus tech, so that Yugi can use the Heart of the Cards to beat Pegasus at his own game. Then the Marvel team find a way to send the Yugioh squad back to their own universe, rough but it could work.
Yugioh does make a lot of references to other franchises and general pop culture. Archetypes like Heroes (my favourite) reference different comics and superhero media, from American comics to Super Sentai and Power Rangers. Kozmos are a weird combo of Star Wars and Wizard of Oz, of all things to combine… There are a few archetype that are inspired by mech anime, like Drytron, Ursarctic, etc. There are so so many more examples of this spread across Yugioh’s numerous decks and it’s pool of over 10,000 different cards.
I would like to see a continuation and expansion of this concept. It is a unique way to blend the technological and magical sides of Marvel comics by using technology to access other realms. An entire subsection could rise from that combination, and it would be better than another alien invasion. Better yet, have a conceptual fusion with a bunch of other franchises. Grab a little bit of Pokemon, a little bit of Digimon, a little bit of Spectrobes, a little bit of Yugioh, a little bit of Kiba, and a little bit of Bakugan, place them in the Marvel blender and give them their own dimension. There you have a spinoff that is potentially very popular and free of the trappings and formulas of superhero comics.
It is really interesting when Japanese artist or mangaka create their version of western comic book characters. This reminds me of when Yusuke Murata draws Spider-Man and when an anime studio create an anime based on Mark Millar's Super Crooks. Really love these kind of collaborations.
I think what would be really cool is if Stark Industries was a company rival to kaibacorp. And the whole manga is just a duel between Tony Stark and Seto Kaiba with Tony's entire deck being comprised of monsters that represents all of the different versions of the Iron Man suit he's built. So he does the same thing that Kaiba did with Kaiba man and basically commission Pegasus to build his entire Ironman deck. What would be really cool is a spell card called Jarvis that lets Tony special summon Iron Man suits directly from his deck.
We need something like Yugioh in Marvel form. Imagine fusion summoning someone from infinity warps or tribute summoning a weak hero to summon captain america. Maybe even get to snap your opponents lifepoints in half when you've pulled all six stone cards. Endless possibilities.
5:10 Sounds more like Bakugan considering Pegasus had to make new cardboard cards based on the stone slabs used in Ancient Egypt as opposed to cards falling from the sky. It's also implied, in spite of what Dan says in the cold opening, that Dan and his friends _didn't_ make the game and it already existed because there are so many things that don't really add up.
Oh ya the "game" was later apparently the natural way of battling used by entire alien species and shit.. when they had laser swords on their gauntlets and flying battleships.. and the.. monsters were little marbles but only large when they were pretty much told to be.. for a short time..
@@BaconNuke The laser sword thing and battleships didn't happen until at least New Vestroia, not in season 1. I was talking spesfically about season 1 because the opening narration changes every season.
No, the game did not exist before season 1, because neither did cards (at least in large enough quantities). Dan and co had a bunch of cards that react in specific way when conditions are met and alien creatures that resonated with said cards. And then made a game out of it, probably with a lot of trials and errors.
@@kindlingking Literally the first episode takes place _after_ the game and social network revolving around it had been set up. Also Dan didn't know what Sub-Terra was, he even personally knew Julie and didn't know what Sub-Terra was. He also made multiple rookie mistakes and only beat Shuji the first time by a narrow margin.
@@mattwo7 I meant the events of season 1, including flashbacks, not literally the first episode. Dan being unfamiliar with subterra isn't anything outrageous, considering the game was a group effort (where Shun and maybe Alice clearly did most of the work, considering they are portrayed as strategic experts) and him being pretty mediocre brawler in the beginning of the series. They didn't make the game from the ground up, they used already existing elements and put them together as something comprehensive, as such there's no need for every single one of Brawlers to be Mark Rosewater.
What sort of deck would Tony Stark and Peter Parker use? Synchrons for Iron Man, and Inzektors for Spider-Man. Why stop there? Iron Fist gets Duel Avatars and Tenyi, Doctor Doom uses D/D/D, Thor obviously has Nordics, etc. This is fun, anyone else have ideas for more pairings?

Surprised there was no reference to Marvel Disk Wars which was a collectible children's game to an extent although it would be hard to encorporate that I suppose
I think I watched Mother's Basements about Yu Gi Oh once and said Kazuki Takahashi wasn't originally a game designers so the guy just figured it out along the way. The one who responsible for the cards are other people although Kazuki name is still used as copyright holder. CMIIW tho so I understand why this too didn't goes too deep in the game design part
Honestly missed opportunity to not have the Elemental Hero monsters cross over with some of the Marvel heroes in this comic but it be what it be. The real fan service moment would have been if E-Hero Neos got to meet and fuse with Captain America to beet a big bad.
In an actual crossover, the idea of Ironman and Spiderman having to learn the game on the fly and select a deck to use against the big bad could be fun. Obviously, it would end with a giant monster like Zorc coming to life after losing, and Ironman & Spiderman fighting it. Ending with Yami or whoever is dealing the final blow with children's-card-game magic.
This crossover would actually make a ton of sense as well having Marc and Steven along with Yugi and Atem since the original series is about ancient Egyptian artifacts that are containing shadow magic within them and we all know that Steven and Egypt go hand in hand with each other.
Why hasn't marvel just relaunched their card game or made a new one with Kid Kaiju Kei Kawada as the mascot? Just give him a revamp to his powers in a tie-in where he is now able to use copies of his art as cards he can use a medium to summon monster as well, then decided to make a marketable card game out of it with various heroes and villains. I don't like give Disney ideas AT ALL, but don't know why anyone hasn't thought of doing that because Marvel did it with Konami and Upper Deck before.
Yu-Gi-Oh! incorporated Star Wars, The Wizard of Oz, Power Rangers, Godzilla, and Miss Koboyashi's Dragon Maid, so a Marvel line isn't impossible. It'd take a lot of meetings and what not, but not impossible.
I wrote a Marvel/yugioh crossover fanfiction in the old official Marvel forum back in 2008. It's probably lost forever. I actually created cards based on the heroes that played them
oh, there is a manga about MTG, not a story about a planeswalker, but a slice of life about some teens playing mtg, when thegame was not too old during the 90s. I believe it was still ongoing.
That honestly sounds awesome, I kinda wish there was more card game shows like that, because there's so many intricacies and it'd be fun to see that explored.
I liked this video. I wouldn't mind this sort of 'over the table conversation' short videos being a thing. Just sharing your experience with a series without needing to dive in-depth into everything. Hopefully it performs well :)
Friendly reminder that there was a TCG made back in the TCG heyday of the early 00s that was a crossover of Marvel and DC called VS that failed because it didn’t attract the casual crowd. And also there’s set for Marvel in the crossover TCG Weiss Schwarz albeit in Japan only weirdly enough. I say this because maybe the peeps here would appreciate Marvel characters on cards
I pu tlots of time and money into Yugioh back in the day and this is the first time I'm hearin about this. Def gotta go check it out now, thanks for the heads-up. :)
this should have been Kaiba as Kaibaman challenging Ironman to duelmonsters for control of the others company. Maybe another duel with tony and peter testing out the game before hand because Peters the only other person in the avengers who plays. The amount of yugioh fanfics out there that are just characters from other franchises using existing cards should show how popular that premise alone would be. Maybe throw in some series exclusives but without any focus on the actual games mechanics the premise doesn't really pull from the creators strengths.
You have an excellent collection of games. The fact that you have "Sentinels of the Multiverse" is the least surprising thing ever, but I'd love to hear your thoughts on it from both a game and comic perspective.
There was also another manga and marvel crossover one shot called I think it was Attack On Avengers. Basically it's Avengers vs The Titans which are giant human looking creatures from Attack On Titians.
Talking Yu-Gi-Oh cards? Weird. The only CCG cards that ever whispered to me were the Shirtless Kirk promo from the Fleer/Skybox Trek CCG and Shadowfist's Orangotank. Kirk wanted me to turn the heat up because he was freezing, and everyone's favorite cyborg primate AFV wanted a banana. I got the feeling the Amphibian Desire card from Galactic Empires was trying to tell me something too, but I don't want to know what it was. What? Like Yu-Gi-Oh cards aren't weird as hell themselves? You think other CCGs don't have their fair share of WTF cards? The Ultimate Combat CCG had a defensive card called Body Odor, for cripe's sake.
Well Manga is selling like crazy next they will have a Fairy Tail crossover: Gray Fullbuster vs Ice Man Natsu Dragneel vs Human Torch Ezra Scarlet vs Magik
All of the fairy tail characters would win. Ice man and human torch would simply be fueling Natsu and Gray due to their respective forms of slayer magic and erza's arsenal of armor and weapons significantly larger than Magik's.
You want Marvel heroes duking it out with other medium in a card game? Play Weiss Schwarz! They recently got Avengers & Toy Story so you can now see Iron Man fighting against the likes of Kirito from SAO, the idols in Love Live, & outright Toy Story for the Kingdom Hearts fattish in you.
OMG THIS IS COOL MARVEL PLUS YUGIOH THATS OP. WOW 😱 WOWWWWW well basically it’s just a manga thing where they let manga artists use marvel characters so it’s kinda official but not canon to any timeline that’s cool. Marvel secret reverse I must look it up.
What would be awesome is konami and marvel or DC (preferably) make a deal where they write stories about the Hero archetypes like superhero stories for sparkman or avian which would be awesome. It would get yugioh players into comics and comic fans into yugioh
Will be honest Got to excited when I saw the title yu-gi-oh x marvel Thought it was going to have Atem, Joey and Seto teaming up with Ironman, Captain America and Thor to fight an Egyptian inspired version of ultron But it’s just a marvel manga with ideas inspired by card games
So I didn't watch far enough to get into it, but from what I've been told, everything that happened in that manga would have been right at home in the later Yugioh stuff
I don't know how to say this that won't sound potentially asshole-ish, I always enjoy your videos, but I REALLY liked your delivery in this video a LOT more than your usual videos.

They could definitely do the same with Western shows
They could actually make it a variation of HEROs
There's masked heros, elemental heros, etc
They could called marvelous HEROs or something idk
I'd be also an excuse so HEROs could get more support lol
@@manrix6 I mean to be fair elemental heroes are based off of western heros so probably less HERO archetype and more new archetype
Kozmos are a weird combo of Star Wars and Wizard of Oz, of all things to combine…
There are a few archetype that are inspired by mech anime, like Drytron, Ursarctic, etc.
There you have a spinoff that is potentially very popular and free of the trappings and formulas of superhero comics.
>sees the title
To quote the Jontron WHAT?! WHATTHEFUC- clip
had to pause the video and walk away for a bit after that One Piece joke. God damn you and your comedic timing, drake.
I must find this now. Along with the other books mentioned in the beginning.
We need something like Yugioh in Marvel form. Imagine fusion summoning someone from infinity warps or tribute summoning a weak hero to summon captain america. Maybe even get to snap your opponents lifepoints in half when you've pulled all six stone cards. Endless possibilities.
you mean, like that Marvel Disk wars anime from a while back?
Captain America would use BLS
Shang chi would use fire fist(surprised you didn’t use that for iron fist)
Moon Knight would use gravekeepers
Doctor strange would play spellbooks
Thor would play Thunder dragons
Dormammu/mephisto wound play Archfiends
Namor would play Atlantan/mermail
Hulk plays Gren Maju
I dunno...Black Knight gets the Adventure engine? The Jackal uses the Myutants? -Kang- He Who Remains uses Timelords? Kingpin uses a finely-tuned meta deck based around floodgates? the Bloodstones use the Danger!? archetype? Red Skull uses Eldlich? Magneto uses Thunder Dragons? Black Cat uses Time Thieves? Nick Fury uses SPYRALs? Carol Danvers uses Mecha Phantom Beasts? Spider-Ham would use Toons? The Sentry uses Dream Mirror? Black Bolt uses Monarchs? Wasp (any) uses Trickstars? Namor uses Mermails?
...NFL Superpro uses U.A.?
Not even a yugioh fan, but I love your marvel comics stuff. First time I’m seeing you not at the old chair or the comic logos backdrop and wanted to comment on the impressive board game collection. A lot of good games on those shelves.
Cheers.
Hopefully there will be a crossover of my hero academia with Spider-Man that he was chasing the green goblin or mysterio throughout the Multiverse and he was sent to my hero academia universe
Cool
Marvel Crossover set for Yugioh called M-HEROES monsters.
4:29 You should make some videos about designing tabletop games.
Didn't JP do anime based on similar idea and instead of monsters , kids summoned the Avengers and was quite good and done well. It was called marvel disk war similar to card summoning in yugioh.
I'm relatively new to your channel. I've been binging a lot of your videos. I just wanted to say that I really enjoy your work and I hope that you keep it up.
Surprised there was no reference to Marvel Disk Wars which was a collectible children's game to an extent although it would be hard to encorporate that I suppose
You should do a video talking about all the Marvel anime including the 2 Disney ones
Actually The Amazing Spiez actually did an episode that *was* a fusion between the two!
7:21 WHAT? Yet Godzilla just got alternate arts?
Marvel's Secret Reverse was Kazuki Takahashi's Final Manga before his death.
I think I watched Mother's Basements about Yu Gi Oh once and said Kazuki Takahashi wasn't originally a game designers so the guy just figured it out along the way. The one who responsible for the cards are other people although Kazuki name is still used as copyright holder.
CMIIW tho
so I understand why this too didn't goes too deep in the game design part
He can always hope for a Marvel and Yugioh HEROES arctype crossover one day.
Should have let him do a Moon Knight story, it’d be perf
Im going to buy this next time im out looking for comics/manga, I love Kazuki Takahashi.
If there was a official crossover, it would have to be with Moon Knight.
Moon Knight: "I summon Random Bullshit, in attack mode!"
You would see all the random bullshit when you see dragon link combos
Or apocalypse
This crossover would actually make a ton of sense as well having Marc and Steven along with Yugi and Atem since the original series is about ancient Egyptian artifacts that are containing shadow magic within them and we all know that Steven and Egypt go hand in hand with each other.
Apocalypse would be the main villain capturing exodia.
Once the "Kids" in my neighborhood stopped playing i did too for a while...I just recently started playing Yu-Gi-Oh again
I remember a video from yesteryear you mentioned an Attack on Titan crossover that's only a few pages.
The Yoshi egg mug is very cute
I can never use it on my green screen. :(
Fan creation idea: Iron Man gauntlet/duel disk
Yu-Gi-Oh! incorporated Star Wars, The Wizard of Oz, Power Rangers, Godzilla, and Miss Koboyashi's Dragon Maid, so a Marvel line isn't impossible. It'd take a lot of meetings and what not, but not impossible.
I had no idea this existed. Now I want to find a copy.
Actually Yu-Gi-Oh has many times made their monster holograms turn into real monsters so technically this is another reference.
Did you know Comic Drake that Bakugan and marvel had a crossover
I wrote a Marvel/yugioh crossover fanfiction in the old official Marvel forum back in 2008. It's probably lost forever. I actually created cards based on the heroes that played them
I reeeeeally liked the format! Thanks for the video!
oh, there is a manga about MTG, not a story about a planeswalker, but a slice of life about some teens playing mtg, when thegame was not too old during the 90s. I believe it was still ongoing.
That honestly sounds awesome, I kinda wish there was more card game shows like that, because there's so many intricacies and it'd be fun to see that explored.
breakfast rambling should be a video genre on youtube and i'm surprised it isn't
I don't often see videos where people just ramble, similar to this, but man every time I do see it, I love it.
3:20 So...just Arc-V's Solid Vision, then?
5:40 Links? With aliens? That's not done! Aliens are Zexal and Go Rush's schtick, not Vrains's!
There was also another manga and marvel crossover one shot called I think it was Attack On Avengers. Basically it's Avengers vs The Titans which are giant human looking creatures from Attack On Titians.
Now that you looking at that. Please read the Samurai Deadpool Manga!
No.
Watching this with whisky in hand was very entertaining. Thank you my friend
Ngl, I really enjoyed this breakfast format, creative way to show off the sponsor as well xD
Kind of disappointed that no one had the idea of doing a Yu-Gi-Oh-style Moon Knight story.
Well Manga is selling like crazy next they will have a Fairy Tail crossover:
Gray Fullbuster vs Ice Man
Natsu Dragneel vs Human Torch
Ezra Scarlet vs Magik
All of the fairy tail characters would win. Ice man and human torch would simply be fueling Natsu and Gray due to their respective forms of slayer magic and erza's arsenal of armor and weapons significantly larger than Magik's.
Kinda giving Natsu the free win here. How is the Human Torch supposed to hurt him?
"Flame Wingman Joins the Avengers" is a story I would definitely read.
That's scary I just saw you on the GX theme official wondering why you haven't talked about anything Yu-gi-oh Manga related
I actually saw this at barns and noble in the comic section and almost bought it because why not
OMG THIS IS COOL MARVEL PLUS YUGIOH THATS OP. WOW 😱 WOWWWWW well basically it’s just a manga thing where they let manga artists use marvel characters so it’s kinda official but not canon to any timeline that’s cool. Marvel secret reverse I must look it up.
I haven't heard of Yu-Gi-Oh in so long man
What would be awesome is konami and marvel or DC (preferably) make a deal where they write stories about the Hero archetypes like superhero stories for sparkman or avian which would be awesome. It would get yugioh players into comics and comic fans into yugioh
I need Magic Spoon in Brazil
Will be honest
Got to excited when I saw the title
yu-gi-oh x marvel
Thought it was going to have Atem, Joey and Seto teaming up with Ironman, Captain America and Thor to fight an Egyptian inspired version of ultron
But it’s just a marvel manga with ideas inspired by card games
So I didn't watch far enough to get into it, but from what I've been told, everything that happened in that manga would have been right at home in the later Yugioh stuff
Great video! Love the casual feel.
Don't let this video distract you from asking when is Ben 10 getting incorporated into the DC Multiverse!
What?
@@comixproviderftw_02 Ben 10 is owned by WB so there's no excuse why he still hasn't been.
@@zachryder3150 Much like how they did those Hanna Barbera comics and Looney Toons crossovers, they have to do ones for Cartoon Network
Yu gi yoah and marvel comics that’s crossover I never thought would come to pass but sounds fun.
There's nothing cooler and weirder than Japanese Mangaka's playing around with American Super heroes.
I'd love to see Kubo do something like this. I think it could work with the Bleach universe rules.
Can you do a video about how does Captain America's shield bounce?
I don't know how to say this that won't sound potentially asshole-ish, I always enjoy your videos, but I REALLY liked your delivery in this video a LOT more than your usual videos.
Imagine if some one made an anime based around the Deathall.
Just replace Secret Reverse with Duel Monsters and the villain with Kaiba and Pegasus.
