I don’t mind someone having a cabinet that is not going to fight him on every issue, so loyalty is important, but also making sure it’s actual loyalty, not just being a yes man. His comments about Tulsi shows exactly how full of it Peter is. She's got experience as an Army officer, and as a Lt Colonel she undoubtedly has a higher level security clearance given she is STILL serving in the Army Reserves. If she WAS a true security threat, her commission and clearance would have been called into question and terminated long ago. As someone who likely holds a clearance for his consulting work with elements of the government, Zeihan should know this. But he repeats this security threat nonsense anyway. So Zeihan is demonstrating that he is either 1) dishonest and willing to lie to benefit the status quo, OR 2) he's hopelessly blinded by ideology. Either one is a terrible, TERRIBLE quality to have in an analyst. Wouldn't you agree, Peter?
@nicholasberget9959 - You do realise that Zeihan himself is a cult? Look at how some of his followers go after people in the comments section. I've had death threats and disabled my contact details, and it was all because I questioned the dear leader about his move to Patreon.
Its literally a made up smear by the Hillary Clinton campaign...When Tulsi was a chair in the DNC, she got nothing but praise...But it seems out of all the anti-establishment politicians, Tulsi gets the MOST HATE.....They really hate her for some reason....Which makes me like her even more..
Zeihan is a propagandist for the state. He is fully aware of what he is doing and why he is doing it. The way to approach Zeihan is to understand what he is and then listen with deep skepticism of anything he says. Look for the manipulation and what it is really trying to establish for the state. This is a long game propaganda operation.
I’m not sure I’ve ever commented, but… Tulsi is an officer in the Army. She has led, and leads, organizations, both on reserve duty and while deployed. Also, to be an LTC in the Army requires a security clearance. Love your analyses, Peter, but you’ve been more than a bit partisan lately.
She is an LTC in the guard. Frank, you talk like that is a big achievement. It sounds like you may be underqualified to talk about this subject matter.

I was a big voucher for Tulsi as well and enjoyed listening to her speak, but when she was being considered by Trump, BBC reported on why she is such a controversial pick. I did not know that in 2017 she basically denied the existence of chemical weapons attacks in Syria in 2012. I don't have the time to research this fully but it's a pretty big deal to defend the butcher Assad and then considered to lead US foreign affairs.
What's worse, that she opening repeats false Russian propaganda on purpose or just doesn't know any better? It doesn't really matter why she carries water for Putin to the detriment of American power around the world... The fact that she does is at all makes her a pointless risk and a terrible choice. Just because the Dems suck doesn't mean Trump is great. It's been all bad choices for a while now and things are only getting worse. Good luck!
It is going to be very interesting to see if the lack of experts running the biggest corporation in the world will sow a whirlwind of consequences down the road.
Obama was such a humble fellow. Even at 26...when he wrote his memoirs (well..his compilation of characters based on his recollection). Peter, Obama and Trump...imagine that trio at gathering, meeting at the urinals...
In contrast to the usual fare of exaggerating various foreign affairs issues, this is a gross understatement of the effects of the populist president. The fact that the U.S. elected a proponent of the policies that made the Great Depression great suggests that western civilization has a few oscillations to go through yet before we have hope of establishing a permanent prosperity. With the first-past-the-post electoral system, we are forced to choose between over-intrusive leftist redistibutionist government with a huge spending problem or an over-intrusive irrational populist government that runs even larger deficits, sticks a wrench in the spokes of the economy and dismantles all the institutions that made America great the first time around. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to choose policy-by-policy?
So it's your contention that all of these institutions you speak of have done nothing to cede trust on their own? They have just been running along at peak efficiency and effectiveness and people just up and lost faith in them? And now Trump's been given a democratic mandate to finish them off....and these institutions have done nothing, until this point, to merit that? Nothing at all? Not one thing?

Yes Gabbard 10:50 "has never had a managerial position, ever", EXCEPT maybe there's that battalion commander position or other officer positions that require managing people in the military. 🙄 She has likely managed way more people than some "academic" like Ziehan would ever be capable of managing or ever has.

He highlights the transformation of the Republican Party into a "cult of personality" under Trump, sidelining traditional factions like fiscal conservatives and national security experts. I don’t mind someone having a cabinet that is not going to fight him on every issue, so loyalty is important, but also making sure it’s actual loyalty, not just being a yes man. If you are loyal, you want them to succeed, and in order to succeed you need to be told the truth so you can solve actual problems or make changes to make policies that are working more effective.

The chief problem with political loyalty as a qualifier is that you do not get the best. FDR during WW 2 appointed staunch Republicans to his Cabinet. Pure genius. Plus it is good politics because it shows you are not just a politician..but actually want to get things done for the People!

Gabbard is a Lt Colonel in the US Army, that is significant management experience...
Can we revisit your prediction on Trump losing and why that didn’t happen?
They've been appointed to dismantle and undo the country. Competence and knowledge are not job requirements. You said it, Peter.
Just because Tulasi Gabbard doesn’t subscribe to Democratic Party worldview calling her a foreign agent is definitely a stretch on your part .
Except that she is, in fact, a Russian agent. So there's that.
Good luck!
I’m struggling to hear many of your predictions coming to fruition?
Thank you!
There were exactly zero leftist policies during the Biden admin.
Thank you

Very clear assessment
Tulsi Gabbard was a LTC in the United States Army reserves...a LTC commands a battalion or squadron sized unit anywhere between 300-1,200 soldiers...so, very inaccurate to say that she has no management experience...not disputing that she may not be a great choice to lead the DNI dept but she does have management/command experience so inaccurate statements by Peter here and disappointing that he does not at least give her credit for having achieved the rank of LTC and having experience commanding and managing large groups of people...
Yes Gabbard 10:50 "has never had a managerial position, ever", EXCEPT maybe there's that battalion commander position or other officer positions that require managing people in the military. 🙄 She has likely managed way more people than some "academic" like Ziehan would ever be capable of managing or ever has.
@@gaunterodimm3606 Agreed, but I'm also not sure I would pick a US Army reserves LTC to run the DNI...There are probably individuals working inside the DNI or military intelligence branches that are far more qualified to run that dept than Gabbard. Are telegenic and spend a lot of time on television defending him...I am also concerned about Gabbard's dealings with Syria and her isolationists policies..I would probs confirm Gabbard over Hegseth tho and he seems to be the worst of the bunch besides Gaetz who I am also glad to see was dismissed.

emphasizing their lack of qualifications and alignment with Trump’s preference for loyalty over competence. He highlights the transformation of the Republican Party into a "cult of personality" under Trump, sidelining traditional factions like fiscal conservatives and national security experts. While most appointees serve to validate Trump rather than influence policy, Zeihan raises concerns about Tulsi Gabbard’s nomination as Director of National Intelligence, citing her alleged ties to Russia, conspiracy theories, and lack of relevant experience. He contrasts this with Robert Lighthizer, a competent exception praised for his trade negotiation skills. Zeihan warns that bypassing Senate oversight through recess appointments risks consolidating executive power and undermining institutional checks and balances.
