Once again it's the fast forward action of the march into the new box that fascinates me. Good job. Although when you put the lid on and leant on it I'm sure I heard some crunching noises.
I never get tired of watching the march, it's just so cool, that's why I show it so often. Any crunching noises that you MAY have heard were simple sound distortions. God's peace Kevin. Mr. Ed
Jeff, it tickles me that you just have too much fun getting these hives and always with a smile. That smile is contagious. So thank you for ensuring we have a fantastic Friday. GB, Kate
What the heck, you slept late today? You are right, I have way to much fun wrangling bees. Everyone should know such happiness. That's one of the reasons I post my videos, to share the joy I receive by saving bees. I'm glad I'm part of your Friday routine. Happy New Year to you and your loved ones. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Jeff Horchoff Lmbo yes I slept in for once. It was heaven, the dogs slept in too. However once I did wake they ran me ragged. Lol. Thank you my friend, I do love to laugh and that ensures that I have a great day. Many blessings to you and your loved ones and may you (and your Abby bees)have a wonderful New Year! GB, Kate
I follow this guy because he is so nice and kind. you can tell he has such a gentle and kind disposition. I have learned a lot from his posts. Thank you Sir.
Thank you for your kind words. In truth, I'm just a guy who loves saving bees and sharing the experience. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. God's peace. Mr. Ed
I’ve overdosed on bees I’m truly obsessed, you Sir are a true gentleman in fact you are true a gentle man the attention and care to detail make your videos the most enjoyable . Happy new year from a very cold uk 🇬🇧
I'm just a guy who has a ton of fun wrangling bees and sharing the experience. Thank you so much for ODing on Mr. Ed's bee adventures, and letting me know you are watching. Stay warm, and Happy New Year to you also. God's peace. Mr. Ed
I really love wrangling bees and sharing the experience of it to help raise awareness of the need to save bees from being killed. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my be wrangling adventures on my channel and let me know what you think of them. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Jeff Horchoff To be honest, it's weird for me. I'm phobic of stinging flyers due to a child run in with some wasps, but I'm fascinated by your videos, and can't imagine doing what you do without a suit! Keep it up, and God bless.
Nothing like an easy extraction. I acquired a hive in a 55 gallon barrel about a month ago. Brought it home and put it in my beeyard until spring. Might get very interesting getting them out of that barrel. Keep up the good work. God bless, and have a wonderful new year.
I'm all about easy, to bad it does not come along very often. Very good idea about waiting till the spring to open that can of worms, I mean bees. Let me know how it goes for you. God's peace James. Mr. Ed
Mr Ed the problem is you show the better side of hive recovery with smile. Actually in fact you never shows the pain behind all these efforts. May the new year brings you happiness and joy..Happy New Year 2018 in advance.
I am very careful when handling bees, yet some will still be hurt. Unfortunately, it's almost inevitable when you are dealing with thousands of bees in a very small area. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. God's peace. Mr. Ed
i can't believe i missed this one... when you flipped over that board it was like you opened up a buffet table, with all the flood already laid out! Great video and i saw/heard you when you caught the Queen! love to you, keep on making these videos!
Thank you for another awesome Friday video. Have you ever thought about teaching bee keeping classes? I think that you would do very well as a teacher. Keep up the good work! The world needs guys like you.
You are making me blush with all those kind words. I'm just a guy that loves fooling around with bees, and making videos about it. I will tell you this, I'm going to write a book about it when I move into the monastery. Till then, you will just have to wait for Fridays. Happy New Year Juliana! God's peace. Mr. Ed
Finding the queen is all grace, that's why I that Jesus for the discovery. Thanks for watching, and I hope you continue to watch my bee wrangling adventures. God's peace. Mr. Ed
I’m so happy that you were able to find the queen! By the grace of God, you have another hive for the abbee! Praises flow, and blessings abound! I love the way you speed up the wrangling, and we get to see them marching into your box! You have a wonderful job, and I love watching! Maranatha, and Hallelujah!
I sure do, and I'd be more than happy to show you and whoever what we do at the abbey with the bees. Just get in touch with me at the abbey and we can arrange it. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Jeff, I have one query. At the beginning after you moved the form board. the bees appeared to be on the center two sections only. So why did you cut out the center sections first? Why not cut out the outer sections that had no or few bees first and then the bees would have had comb they built to land on. If you look at 3:19 , the combs on the left had almost no bees, but after cutting out the middle section, the bees moved to this empty comb.
There was old comb in the box that I was putting the cut comb in for the bees to land on. I left the empty comb on purpose so as to give the bees a place to run to as I was removing the comb from the center. I don't suppose it made much difference as all the bees wound up in the box anyway. It turned out very well in the end, especially after finding the queen. Thanks for watching, and Happy New Year to you and yours. God's peace. Mr. Ed
My heart races with excitement when I see so many bees. I so glad to share my joy with all who will watch. Happy New Year to you also. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Once you said that the cone must be put in the plates the way they were hanging in the original give. But he's not watching how you pull them out so how can you tell how they were hanging other than the curve of the edge?
It's not a perfect world, but we certainly do try placing the comb in the order we removed it....especially the brood comb. Thanks for your very good observation and for watching the video. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Love the video!! Keep’em coming!!! I seen the queen capture you had it on video! You was excited and did share it with us so no need to apologize have a very happy new year Jeff!!!
I do tend to get a bit excited when I see and capture the queen. I can't help it, I get like a kid about to open a birthday present. Thanks for understanding and for watching. Happy New year to you also. God's peace. Mr. Ed
I've got my fingers crossed that when I check them at the end of February they will be up and running. They had lots of sugar water to hold them over, it's just wait and see. Till then, thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Wrangling bees is always interesting and a challenge, I really love doing it and sharing the experience. Thanks so much for following along. May your new year bee filled with blessings also. God's peace. Mr. Ed
You are always impressive with your extraction skills, but Troy sure looked like a pro at framing comb. Happy New Year to you and everyone at the abbey!
That's because Troy is a bee keeper himself. Also, he is an abbey employee, and a really good guy. Happy New Year Linda! Have you made your reservations yet? Easter will bee here before you know it. God's peace. Mr. Ed
What a joy and pleasure for me to share my bee wrangling adventures. Thank you so much for following along. It is good to have the Rooster back. Happy New year to you also. God's peace John. Mr. Ed
Thank you so much for your kind words. It is so rewarding to me when others enjoy watching my save bees. Thanks for the time you spend watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
I want a hive so badly for the wonderful honey and propolis... as much as I love and respect bees I am afraid that they would not love me and I would be stung. I am not a fan of anaphylaxis, yes I am allergic, but I know the healthful benefits of natural bee products. Sigh, how do I go about getting a hive set up???
I'm curious about something When you do your next transfers of comb to the frames, could you show a number on the frame in the order that you insert them into the box. I'm curious to see the amount of activity the bees will do if they join all of the separate pieces of comb together in each frame. As well, if they do do this, in reference to the actual center of the hive to the walls.
The bees will join all the separate pieces of comb, and it will eventually become just one solid frame of wax. That may not happen till the Spring, but it will happen. And yes, I will try to remember to show that when we revisit this hive at the end of February. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Great beeremoval vlog temperament. Jeff~ could u enlighten on the tool you used to cut / saw the wooden frame please?! thanx kindly , greetings from SA
So glad you liked the video Cam. The tool I was using is simply a serrated knife. Specifically, it is a Christmas tree trimmer, but any strong, sharp, serrated knife will do the trick for you. Thanks for watching, and I hope to hear from you again on more of my be wrangling adventures. Remember, I post a new video every Friday. Until the next one, God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
Jeff Horchoff Bees thank you for your super reply. seen it on anouther vid, it’s a fantastic genghis xmas -tool Mr . Ed. however , assumed in the hyper-lapsed section of the video that were using a cordless mini -saw, and that’s what i’m curious about : one with a quietest motor yet good horse power to “slice” through 2cm of Old brood box. I Have a an interesting [neglected brood box] swarm to salvage. They went “wild” in human eyes but redesigned the brood deep frames into a glued-networked sphere. The natural logic is that they organized themselves a defensive/ shielded space for winter insulation and anti- ant tactics (at least thats my biological inference) . The Gals have had a battle for going on two years, yet their intelligence is simple remarkable in complexity. :) I see the DeWalt’ brand is used in the Beekeeping tool box a lot, but not sure on the best implement so hoping you could advise. Cam
The only cordless tool I use is a Porter Cable Multi Tool, and it cuts through wood and sheet rock extremely well. Best wishes with your bees. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
Jeff Horchoff Bees , Im going to hive the same excite shout out to you via my wild “Bee- gals” every time i find the Queen ~ in earthly thanx to you .;) Thank you Mr Ed for your energies learnt so much from your bee removals all the way on the other side of our rare World. Will stay tuned and share !
I never tire of watching you wrangle bees! I love the way the bees mold their combs to whatever shape is given to them as they build their hive, once they decided on the location to do just that! Bees are wonder workers! By God's infinite grace, mercy and lovingkindnesses, you have another hive for the abbey! Hallelujah!
Here's a tip for you Rooster, don't let the bees see the box you are going to put them in. If they see they are going to be placed in a hive box that should have been condemned, you know, the boxes you say are your good ones, they are going to fight you. Do like I do, show them a nice, clean, new box, and just they roll over for you. The bees in this video were basically living in conditions that you may consider lush, rotten wood, bottom falling out, full of ants, and holes in the sides all around. Basically, I just showed them the nice box I had for them with some newly drawn out comb, and heck, they didn't even pack their bags they were in such a hurry to get into their new digs. Just saying, you might want to consider that option. Great to have you back in the game, but remember, swarm season is just around the corner, and Mr. Ed is feeling GOOD about another Rooster Routing. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
I can tell you are a faithful Rooster fan by the wording of your comment. How much did he pay you to say that? In any case, Mr. Ed welcomes all on his channel regardless of affiliations, and hold no grudges for slanderous remarks. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
I think the bees and the comb were the only thing holding it all together. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. Here's the link to the update on this video I recently posted if you are interested in watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Mr. Ed I'm curious about a few things. 1, the vandalism of those bee colonies in Iowa I believe. What could be done to help prevent vandalism like that in the future. 2. They stated (edit) that they were unable to insure their bees and that they are looking at the strong possibility that they would be going out of business. I find it odd either way that a business could not protect their assets in a financial manner.
The simple truth is that there will ALWAYS be evil in this world. What went on in Iowa is a manifestation of that evil. What can be done to stop it, prayer. When we learn to love as God created us, these types of suffering will disappear, and a whole different world will bee present.....heaven. As it turns out, these folks prayers were answered, as monies were donated to reestablish the business and get it going again. There is yet hope, and it is hope that keeps things afloat. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Jeff Horchoff that is true. But my next curiosity was that the bee owners, said that they were unable to insure their business. I'm postulating that the bees you wrangle are on behalf of the abbey for the most part and would be covered as such by the abbey at large. As an entity of the church. But what can the private honey bee owner do to protect their overall interests?
The queens generally tapper off their egg laying as the year ends due to the fact that there will be far less food available for the hive, and they would not be able to sustain the numbers if the hive continued to expand during the time of dearth. For us here in the South, by late January, she again begins to lay in preparation for the spring honey flow. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Dang mr ed, loving the new music production, really raises the level of your content, though i come for the bees and grace of god, i certainly enjoy the extra quality!!
Troy looks a bit camera shy, the way he was looking at you looked like he was thinking who is this crazy guy, lol. Your enthusiasm is infectious, hope you, the monks and the guys in the seminary all had a great Christmas and a great 2018, best wishes from snowy Glasgow UK.
Troy may be a bit camera shy, but he sure knows how to handle bees. He has over a dozen hive himself, and has wrangled bees for a number of years. He works at the abbey with me. Very glad to share my passion, and I'm grateful for you following along. Stay warm. Happy New Year to you also. God's peace. Mr. Ed
I would love to see a video of how you care for bees that need feeding and extra care. Hives like this one where the queen isn't laying or maybe they've had a bad summer season.
I have several videos showing the internal feeders I use. I use them when the bees do not have sufficient stores. After one or two feedings, one gallon per feeding, I remove the feeder and replace it with frames. Here's a link to one of the videos that I talk about and install one of these feeders. Thanks for watching, and I hope you continue to watch my bee wrangling adventures. God's peace. Mr. Ed ua-cam.com/video/55v2eN_Xssw/v-deo.html
I'm sorry James, but I do not sell any bees or equipment. There are lots of folks that do here in La. A quick qoogle check and you should bee able to locate several near to you. I don't mind answering questions if you have some. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr.Ed
Thank you so much for your kind words. It is so rewarding to me when others enjoy watching my save bees. Thanks for the time you spend watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
What are those blue gloves you're wearing. I've only ever seen the leather bee keeper gloves with the canvas gauntlets, but those look like heavy rubber gloves. Do you wear those OVER leather gloves or by themselves? Do they help to keep stings from getting through to your hands better or are them to keep all the honey from dripping all over your leather gloves???
I bought these gloves at WalMart in the paint section. They are sting proof, yet sensitive enough to feel. I like them way more than the leather gloves because honey does not mess them up. I wear the gloves all by themselves. I hope this helps. God's peace. Mr. Ed
It's all my pleasure, and thank you for spending your time watching my bee adventures. Happy New Year to you and your loved ones also. God's peace. Mr. Ed
No need for a vacuum on this job. Because I planned to leave the box there, it is better for the bees just to find the box on their own. I love my vac, but if I don't have to use it, I won't. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
About 8 years ago we suddenly had a swarm of bees in our finished basement (it did have a window that was closed). I shut the door to the steps, avoided the area and the next day they were gone. Have you ever heard of anything like this? I never have and have always wondered where the bees came from, where they were going, what they were trying to and how they got in and out. Any ideas?
There are lots of mysteries concerning bees, but I can say this, if a swarm of bees moves into an area and they realize that something is wrong, they will leave just a fast as they had arrived, presumably from the same point that they entered. I have caught many swarms, put them in a hive, and have them leave within hours or days. Swarms are very funny like that. Thanks for watching and asking a great question, sorry I did not have more answers for you. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Thank you for the time you spend watching, I know there are so many other things you could be doing with your time, and I really appreciate you chose to watch my bee wrangling. Fortunately, you never have to worry about getting stung while watching one of my be videos, and that's a good thing. God's peace Barbara. Mr. Ed
Happy New Year To You Jeff! Wishing you, and all good peoples at the St. Joseph Abby a wonderful New Year. Thank you and all your helper bees so much for helping us new beekeepers by sharing your knowledge and experiences with us.
It is my pleasure and joy to share my wrangling experiences with all who would watch and listen. Thank you so much for doing that for me, and supporting our program by doing that. Happy New Year to you also. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Mr. Ed Happy New Year Just needed more information on the Heavy Duty Blue Gloves that you are wearing. I checked my local Walmart and i was not able to find anything. Do you know the brand?
Did you look in the paint section? That's where I found these. There is no brand name on them. I hope you find them. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
I don't know if it makes a difference, but it's a WalMart super store. Ask the clerk in the paint department, they may bee able to assist. God's peace. Mr. Ed
So glad you like the video, thank you for taking the time to watch and comment on it. Happy New Year to you and your loved ones also. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Don't give it a second thought, I just look at all the likes and the comments, that's were the fun stuff is. Thank you so much for following along with my bee adventures. God's peace. Mr. Ed
When removing the comb from the hive I place all the tops of the comb in the bottom of the ice chest. That way, I know all the tops of the comb are facing down, and any honey that may drain will run over honey cells not brood cells. Thanks for watching. God's peace Raymond. Mr. Ed
@@JeffHorchoff when you say TOPS of comb you mean the part you slice with your knife ??? Like the part that is attached to say a top bar or roof ?? Sorry im a beginner 🤣🤣 Thank You soo much for the reply!!! 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Thank you so much for following along with my bee wrangling adventures, I'm honored by your gift. I will know more about this hive at the end of February when I access them. I will let you know then. God's peace. Mr. Ed
once again you spotted that queen and captured her- i dub thee knight of all bee queens- i pray for you and yours to have an even better 2018-- many blessing my friend...Glo
Please make sure the Rooster knows who's the Knight, but let him know I'll consider him as a squire.....for the right price. Blessing and peace in the new year Glo. God's peace always. Mr. Ed
Trust me, what Troy lacks in camera appeal, he more than makes up for it with his knowledge of bees. It's always a pleasure to work with Troy. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. God's peace. Mr. Ed
I love your videos! They’re very therapeutic to watch believe it or not. Or I should say bee-lieve it or not 😉 God bless you too brother. Keep doing a great job with those bees!
It is not a simple question to answer. Because there are so many reasons and conditions for a queen to fail, I would need a long time to write about just the few that I am aware of. That being said, I'll give you 3 for now. 1. She has depleted her store of sperm. 2. She has gotten a virus from the mites. 3. She was accidentally killed by the bee keeper when they were poking around the hive to see what's going on. I hope that can hold you for a while. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
👍Absolutely amazing! If I saw all of those bees I would run for my life!! I can’t identify a queen bee even if she landed right on my nose! 🤣 You are so smart! 😍You are definitely the Bee Whisperer!! I look forward to you getting your own TV show like Cesar Millan, the Dog Whisperer. 🤗💞🤗
You are to much with all your kind words. The truth is, I really love wrangling bees and sharing my experience of it, and I am simply amazed that so many folks are interested in watching it. Thank you so much for being one of those special folks. No TV show for Mr. Ed, I've got to many irons in the fire already. Besides, I'm retired. Thanks again for following along with my bee adventures. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Bee make it to produce a queen bee. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling adventures on my channel and let me know what you think of them. God's peace. Mr. Ed
I see that you cut out the old comb and place it into your frames. Do you leave it there forever or do you replace the old comb someday or from time to time with plastic combs? Or do you only use natural combs? Sorry but i am an absolute newbie and i am fascinated by all of this.
When I do a removal, I use the comb from the hive initially. As the hive grows, and I need to add another hive body, I use wooden frames with a plastic foundation in it for the bees to continue building their colony. There are many ways of allowing bees to build comb, find one that works for you and stay with it. This year I will be experimenting with allowing the bees to draw all their comb naturally, it's a slower process, but way cool. Best wishes on your bee keeping journey. Keep me updated. God's peace. Mr. Ed
It never ceases to amaze me the places a colony decides to take up residence, and after that, how they proceed to fill the space with comb to fit the area. Truly marvelous creatures. Thanks for watching, and I hope you continue to watch my bee wrangling adventures. God's peace. Mr. Ed
awesome .. love it when you find her .. you're elated ..,. bees are truly remarkable and organized .. thanks again for another treat hive recovery :) Mr. Ed
So glad you are following along and sharing my wrangling. I will admit, I get a bit excited when I find the queen. Thank you so much for watching and commenting. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Nobody could replace you. Not only were you the rubber band artist/expert, you were ready to go at the drop of the hat. Miss you bad buddy. Happy New Year! God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
Mr. Jeff, I love your videos! Great job as always. I was wondering, what model camera do you use? Thank you for all you do. Hope you have a happy and prosperous New year!
Thank you for all your kind words Charles. I use an inexpensive camcorder, it's a Sony Handycam model # HDR-CX455. It can take a licking, and keep on recording. I've dropped this camera at least 4 times, and it has taken some hard falls. Happy New Year to you also. God's peace. Mr. Ed
The queen will stop laying eggs around the end of October here in Southeast Louisiana. Then, she starts back up around the middle of January. Good question. God's peace Julie. Mr. Ed
I think the reason there was no brood in this hive was we had a new queen. Here in Southeast Louisiana, the queens will still be laying till near the end of November because of the warm weather. I will know more about these bees at the end of February when I do and inspection of them. Till then, I'm just guessing. Good question, thanks for asking and watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
This is a random question, BUT, id like to contribute to saving the bee population, keeping them in hives and such. We have tons of beekeepers who put their hives by crawfish fields, also towards the ends of large pieces of land against a line of trees usually. I have a huge backyard and i wanted to know, can i just reach out to a local beekeeper and offer my land for them to keep bees on? Im in south louisiana (near Lafayette in a little country town) so nothing would really bother the bees. I just dont know what beekeepers look for in terms of land to use. Do they buy their own land to keep on? Is it okay to put bees on someones personal property if they offered to?
That is VERY kind of you to offer your property to house bees on. Our abbey bees are housed not only at the abbey but at 5 other locations, and I will be adding another 2 more in the spring. Bee keepers are always looking for places to house the bees so as not to put a strain on the food source, and to reduce the impact of losses such as floods or other natural disasters. My suggestion would be to contact a bee club in the Lafayette area, and I know there is one or two, and offer your service, I'm sure you will get takers. Heck, if you were closer to me, I'd take you up on the offer. Let me knows how it works out. Thanks for watching, and I hope you continue to watch my bee wrangling adventures. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Yes he is. He has over a dozen hive himself, and has wrangled bees for a number of years. He works at the abbey with me. Thanks for watching, and I hope you continue to watch and comment. God's peace. Mr. Ed
I really like this channel, making my way through all the episodes. Great job, but lol @ the crunching sound...11:46! A few sacrifices for the greater good 😊
One of the problems when you are dealing with thousands of bees, there's bound to be some collateral damage. It's unfortunate, but it happens.I am very glad you are enjoying the channel, I post these videos, to show just how important bees are to our very survival, and why we should not just kill them out of ignorance. I have been rescuing bees from being needlessly destroyed for over 6 years now, and hope to continue to do so for many more years to come. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. I post a new video every Friday morning. God's peace. Mr. Ed
You would not believe how often the Rooster "interferes" with my wrangling. I have had him call, show up, text, and even skype me as I'm doing work, all in name of "seeing how I'm doing." He even went as far as placing a GPS locator in the Life Alert he gave me to wear under the context of " being worried about my safety," to pin point my exact location and discover where I place swarm traps. But whatever his devious plan is to undermine my wrangling adventures, it has not, nor will not ever succeed. God's peace. Mr. Ed
I did exactly that, and I filled the top box with drawn comb with honey in it. Unfortunately, this was one of the hives was killed during our extended cold snap. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Thank you for your blessing and kind words. I hope to hear from you again on more of my bee wrangling adventures. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
I bought those gloves from WalMart in the paint section. They are heavy duty rubber gloves, and the bees can't sting through them. Best of all, they were only about 5 bucks. You got to get some. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Nice bunch of bees, hope they make it. Looks like you will have a lot of follow up videos come spring ;) take care and god bless. BTW there is a video for you to see.
LOTS of follow up videos, but for right now, I'm going to look at yours. Glad you are home, and Happy New Year to you and your loved ones. God's peace. Mr. Ed
So glad you liked it, it was a very good example to show how bees return to the location they know. Thank you for the blessing and for watching.Happy New Year to you and yours. God's peace. Mr. Ed
That is very nice layout the bees did wow mr ed your the best on bee wrangling thanks Troy for your help thanks good time Charlie GOD bless Mr ed and good time Charlie and troy
You are really going back to have found this one, and yet I still remember it. Of course, this was years before Charlie came around. Thanks so much for your blessings and for watching. Until the next one, God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
Ron and I are first cousins, he's just a bit taller that me. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my be wrangling adventures on my channel and let me know what you think of them. God's peace. Mr. Ed
great job I am glad you found the queen .... you said she is not laying will she start or will the hive die? no need to say sorry for not getting the queen on video ...Your videos are great please keep them coming
It's always a joy for me to find the queen, can't you tell? The queen will start laying, I believe she is a new queen and had not started laying yet. I'll know more when I open the hive at the end of February and see how things are. God's peace in the new year. Mr. Ed
That's because I love doing it. Of course it does help that I've done it about 50 times bee fore. I'm very happy to share the experience and I hope others can learn from what I show. Thanks for watching, and I hope you check out a few more of my bee wrangling adventures and let me know what you think of them. God's peace. Mr. Ed
If you are ever in my neck of the woods, you and I are going to wrangle some bees together, and we are going to name the hive after you. Happy New Year Sallie! God's peace always. Mr. Ed
It’s amazing to see all the work you went through to transfer these bees.
All in a days work when you are bee wrangling. God's peace Libby.
Mr. Ed
Mr. Ed
It always amazes me how the bees adapt their hive to the location it is in. Ingenius little creatures.
Mr. Ed
These videos are one of the purest things I've ever seen.
Mr. Ed
I know Mr Ed catching a queen from the recovery of hive.. it give so much satisfaction in the end after the hard work...God bless you too Mr ,Ed
It is VERY rewarding to find and catch the queen. Stay safe my brother in the new year ahead of us. God's peace always.
Mr. Ed
Mr Ed the problem is you show the better side of hive recovery with smile. Actually in fact you never shows the pain behind all these efforts.
May the new year brings you happiness and joy..Happy New Year 2018 in advance.
Thank you for your kind words my brother. May you know the love and kindness of God intimately in the coming year. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
I would enjoy seeing a video on how you got started in this line of work.
I'd just like to know how I got started wrangling bees. As soon as I figure it out, then I can make that video. God's peace Pat.
Mr. Ed
It's always a blessing when you find the queen bee!
It is indeed, that's why I always say, "Thank you Jesus!" God's peace Stanley.
Mr. Ed
that crunch at 11:46 had me giggling. think we lost a couple workers lol
Mr. Ed
oh for sure, you save as many as you can. that noise just had me cracking up. Thanks for seeing bees in a way many people don't
Comb looks like it was made to order to fit in the frames. That's pretty awesome!
It's always a good day of wrangling when things go easy. Till next time, thanks for watching, and Happy Thanksgiving! God's peace.
Mr. Ed
i can't believe i missed this one... when you flipped over that board it was like you opened up a buffet table, with all the flood already laid out! Great video and i saw/heard you when you caught the Queen! love to you, keep on making these videos!
I can understand you missing this one, with 312 of them to watch, it would bee easy to do. Love ya too, God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Mr. Ed
+Jeff Horchoff I think that writing a book is brilliant! You do write beautifully. Happy New Year!!!
It’s amazing how much of the time you find the queen, and I love how you acknowledge the Lord in your work. Thank you.
Finding the queen is all grace, that's why I that Jesus for the discovery. Thanks for watching, and I hope you continue to watch my bee wrangling adventures. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Are you high? :O
Jeff, I was wondering if you offer tours of your operation. Thanks for all you do!
Mr. Ed
WOW, sooo many bees! Thanks for the video, Mr. Ed. That was fun! Happy New Year, Jeff!!!
Mr. Ed
I too would like to know if this hive is still alive and kicking. Great job. God bless you for all you do.
I've got my fingers crossed that when I check them at the end of February they will be up and running. They had lots of sugar water to hold them over, it's just wait and see. Till then, thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
This is beyond interesting! Please, Mr. E, keep updating us as to the progress of this hive. Best wishes for the greatest of new year's to come!
Mr. Ed
Not yet, but I will be...hoping to stay at the abbey.
So do you think they swarmed. And this was the new queen. Just had not started to lay yet.
I think that was a very good possibility. Thanks for watching.God's peace James.
Mr. Ed
thank you and Happy New Year ! Good to see your friend the 628DR is back also.
What a joy and pleasure for me to share my bee wrangling adventures. Thank you so much for following along. It is good to have the Rooster back. Happy New year to you also. God's peace John.
Mr. Ed
Love watching your videos. You are so gentle with those bees
I'm curious about something
When you do your next transfers of comb to the frames, could you show a number on the frame in the order that you insert them into the box.
The natural
logic is that they organized themselves a defensive/ shielded space for winter insulation and anti- ant tactics (at least thats my biological inference) .
Mr. Ed
Jeff Horchoff Bees , Im going to hive the same excite shout out to you via my wild “Bee- gals” every time i find the Queen ~ in earthly thanx to you .;) Thank you Mr Ed for your energies learnt so much from your bee removals all
the way on the other side of our rare World. Will stay tuned and share !
How is it that you keep getting these lap dog hives that just roll over for you to scratch their belly? Dang that was a good one!
628DirtRooster LOL, hahaha, he's back :)
628DirtRooster and he just happen to find the queen on top of the box again, pretty fishy Mr. Ed😉
Mr. Ed
wow that wood must be so old and worn, it started to disintigrate almost immediately, its a wonder you gout the hive out in one piece
If its a strong Hive but the Queen is not Laying Why not Replace her? Or do queens just not lay as much late in the season?
The queens generally tapper off their egg laying as the year ends due to the fact that there will be far less food available for the hive, and they would not be able to sustain the numbers if the hive continued to expand during the time of dearth. For us here in the South, by late January, she again begins to lay in preparation for the spring honey flow. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Dang mr ed, loving the new music production, really raises the level of your content, though i come for the bees and grace of god, i certainly enjoy the extra quality!!
It's all about a good time wrangling bees with Mr. Ed and making videos about it. Thanks so much for following along. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Mr. Ed
Jeff nice job and Happy New Year
Thank you John, and Happy New Year to you and yours. Thanks for watching, God's peace.
Mr.
Mr. Ed
ua-cam.com/video/55v2eN_Xssw/v-deo.html
Thank you. God Bless. Hope you had a great Christmas and have a wonderful new year.
You guys sell the stuff for someone just getting started? I live in Maurice La and just need a small set up for my garden.
I'm sorry James, but I do not sell any bees or equipment. There are lots of folks that do here in La. A quick qoogle check and you should bee able to locate several near to you. I don't mind answering questions if you have some. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr.Ed
Wow its cool how you have such a nice time caring for the bees
Mr. Ed
Very much, thanks!
Happy New Year to you as well Mr Ed, that will be very nice to catch Swarm bees with you, until then may God smile upon you. peace.
Looking forward to the day! Happy New Year to you and your loved ones. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Another good video....thanks Mr. Ed. Happy New Year to you and your crew.
It's all my pleasure, and thank you for spending your time watching my bee adventures. Happy New Year to you and your loved ones also. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
shouldn't you vacuum them up before you cut the comb? doesn't that hurt them? or does it matter.
Mr. Ed
Thanks so much for your answer. Sure do enjoy your video's. Even though I am very afraid of a bee, I sure enjoy watching you interact with them!
Thank you and all your helper bees so much for helping us new beekeepers by
sharing your knowledge and experiences with us.
It is my pleasure and joy to share my wrangling experiences with all who would watch and listen. Thank you so much for doing that for me, and supporting our program by doing that. Happy New Year to you also. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Mr. Ed
Happy New Year
Just needed more information on the Heavy Duty Blue Gloves that you are wearing. I checked my local Walmart and i was not able to find anything. Do you know the brand?
Did you look in the paint section? That's where I found these. There is no brand name on them. I hope you find them. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
No I checked another Walmart but I could not find them either, then only had the thin ones that come in boxes. thanks. I will keep checking. God Bless.
I don't know if it makes a difference, but it's a WalMart super store. Ask the clerk in the paint department, they may bee able to assist. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Awesome video! Happy Holidays and New Year to you, Jeff.
So glad you like the video, thank you for taking the time to watch and comment on it. Happy New Year to you and your loved ones also. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Jeff, could you show us how these frames will look like after some time passes? I imagine the bees kind of "repair" it, but how does it look like? :)
That is on my radar. I plan on doing that in the spring during inspections, stay tuned. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Jeff Horchoff Thank you! Looking forward to it! God bless!
Why would someone give a thumbs down...smh
Thank you Jeff!
Don't give it a second thought, I just look at all the likes and the comments, that's were the fun stuff is. Thank you so much for following along with my bee adventures. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
He gets paid for dislikes, just as much as he gets paid for a like.
How do you make sure comb isn't upside down in New frames ?? I'm not sure what to look for ?
When removing the comb from the hive I place all the tops of the comb in the bottom of the ice chest. That way, I know all the tops of the comb are facing down, and any honey that may drain will run over honey cells not brood cells. Thanks for watching. God's peace Raymond.
Mr. Ed
@@JeffHorchoff when you say TOPS of comb you mean the part you slice with your knife ??? Like the part that is attached to say a top bar or roof ??
Sorry im a beginner 🤣🤣 Thank You soo much for the reply!!! 🙏🙏🙏🙏
I enjoy your videos. I look forward to your post. Can you give us an update on this hive?
Thank you so much for following along with my bee wrangling adventures, I'm honored by your gift. I will know more about this hive at the end of February when I access them. I will let you know then. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
once again you spotted that queen and captured her- i dub thee knight of all bee queens- i pray for you and yours to have an even better 2018-- many blessing my friend...Glo
Please make sure the Rooster knows who's the Knight, but let him know I'll consider him as a squire.....for the right price. Blessing and peace in the new year Glo. God's peace always.
Mr. Ed
Proud of you for saving bees. That's a lot of hard work right there👍👍👍
Troy looks thrilled to be on camera hahaha.
What causes a queen to stop laying eggs?
It is not a simple question to answer. Because there are so many reasons and conditions for a queen to fail, I would need a long time to write about just the few that I am aware of. That being said, I'll give you 3 for now.
1. She has depleted her store of sperm.
2. She has gotten a virus from the mites.
3. She was accidentally killed by the bee keeper when they were poking around the hive to see what's going on.
I hope that can hold you for a while. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Wow. It must be Friday. Awesome my brother
And the video would not bee complete without your comment. God's peace always my brother.
Mr. Ed
When you put the inside cover on it looks like you squish some of the bees, then you learned on the outside cover and squished more?
Mr. Ed
Where do you get royal jelly from?
Mr. Ed
Minutes 11:45 good bee jam
Bees do get trapped under the lid often, but I try to bring the lid down carefully so as not to make the jam. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
an interesting place for bees to make their hive... they always pick the weirdest spots, don't they?
Mr. Ed
Happy new year and may god bless you and all your family
Thank you for your blessings and well wishes. I wish you and your loved ones a blessed new year also. God's peace always David.
Mr. Ed
what about all the bees who get smashed when you put the lid on, I can hear the crunch!
xD 2x
When will a new video be released?
I post a new video every Friday morning. I hope to hear from you again. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Looks like you found a good comb bander. Put him on the payroll but don’t pay him more than you paid me. I need to make a I WORK FOR LUNCH sign.
Mr. Ed
Congrats Jeff, beautiful hive and an interesting capture. One question: is it normal or at least not abnormal for a queen to stop laying in December?
The queen will stop laying eggs around the end of October here in Southeast Louisiana. Then, she starts back up around the middle of January. Good question. God's peace Julie.
Mr. Ed
Oh good! Thanks for the answer and the video!
Isn't it normal for the queen to stop laying sometime in Oct?
It's very warm down in Louisiana so the Queen can keep laying through the winter.
Mr. Ed
Jeff Horchoff Thank you so much!!! Ill keep you updated!!
Nice nicely done Mr.Ed

Mr. Ed
What if its 1 big piece take it all make it square and put it in then put wire?
seem like the property owner son also into beekeeping.
Mr. Ed
One question. In the first 40 seconds of this video, was that the dirtrooster doing that bird call? Trying to distract you? 😂
Mr. Ed
Jeff Horchoff lol! I remember the “Life Alert” gift, but not the gps being in it. You two are a riot😊 God Bless.
@@JeffHorchoff This is hilarious... You and the Rooster rock mr. Ed. You are both real bee bosses.
with that many bees wouldn't it be better to give them a double stack so they wouldn't think "oh we're too crowded in here, let's swarm away!" ??
I did exactly that, and I filled the top box with drawn comb with honey in it. Unfortunately, this was one of the hives was killed during our extended cold snap. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Well done Mr Ed .God bless .

What kind of gloves are you wearing?
I bought those gloves from WalMart in the paint section. They are heavy duty rubber gloves, and the bees can't sting through them. Best of all, they were only about 5 bucks. You got to get some. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Thanks! I will check them out.
Nice bunch of bees, hope they make it. Looks like you will have a lot of follow up videos come spring ;) take care and god bless. BTW there is a video for you to see.
