There certainly were al lot of bees on this rescue, more than 20,000 of them. I post these videos, to show just how important bees are to our very survival, and why we should not just kill them out of ignorance. I have been rescuing bees from being needlessly destroyed for over 6 years now, and hope to continue to do so for many more years to come. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace.

@@JeffHorchoff You should get attachments for the end of your vacuum hose. It's a life changing increase in accuracy. You'll never miss a bee! You'll be able to get in between the honey combs. But seriously, is there a reason you don't you use attachments? Is it more dangerous for the bee to go through a more narrow opening?

I would love to set up a hive in my own backyard, but sadly, city and community regulations prevent me from doing so (can't really blame them, I live across the street from an elementary school, the parents don't like the idea). Oh well. Even so, I try to be as supportive of beekeepers as possible, and am constantly on the lookout for a chance to spread the word of the endangerment of bees and just how important they are to us. Do you mean individual combs - the hexagonal cells, or the combs lying parallel to one another and filling space?
In the first case, the bees actually build circular cells, then as they are pressed together, they become hexagonal - a hexagon being the best way to completely tile a plane with minimal wall material. It's a lot like why bubbles take the shapes that they do as more and more join together.
For the combs, it's a growth process. They start out building sheets of comb that are close enough for a bee to climb directly from one to the next. If it doesn't touch a wall or the floor of the cavity, it will be roughly parabolic in shape. Assuming it does touch, they eventually will connect the comb to walls and floor but leave gaps for bees to travel past a sheet of comb. The combs grow and take up space. After a longish sheet of comb, sometimes they will start the next row in two places. These can wind up being joined into a single sheet or sometimes one will stop and the other will bend, then extend past the first. (This is what happened with the comb shown at 5:09.)

wow! That is simply AMAZING to see. I've always been fascinated by honey bees. As a child a family friend had a honey bee hive in their house. We could watch them come and go through a tube into the hive, but you couldn't actually see the whole thing exposed like this. To see such a HUGE honey comb completely intact and compacted into that flat area is amazing. The construction is truly "organized chaos". You can see the basic "rules" the bees maintain during construction but it sill has that "random fractal" design. How do those individual bees stay organized as a group to maintain those precise clear "paths" through every area of the hive? It's amazing.

Seen many a video on bees at this point. Happy to see that you (and many others) are sustainable, keeping as many alive as you can, and purposing them in better ways than where they were. Truly an admirable pursuit to do what you do and a pleasure to watch you take care of nature in a way that is not destructive or diminishing.

This is fascinating! I’ve never heard of ‘bee wrangling’ and did not know bees would make homes in man made structures, other than bee hives. As a child we used to catch bees in a jar with lid and let them go. I can only imagine what stories they would tell. After not having seen a honey bee for more than a decade I saw one recently. I live in eastern NC, USA where we have a relatively warm climate year round- a place that was abundant with bees ‘in the old days.’ I’m so glad they’re people Ike you helping the bees to make a comeback while reaping the rewards of both your hard labor and the bees. Sweet!

Loved your video. A very beautiful and healthy superhive you found there. They found themselves a magnificent place to grow to such a size.
If you want to look for a solution to this problem, with a Flir one or a Seek compact you could precisely pinpoint the bees in structures without touching it. They're very democratically priced heat viewers that are still good enough for this purpose. Since the hives are around 35°C, they'll show up on a heat camera except on the hottest summer days when the ambient temperature is too high.
It's also nice to have one to check up on house isolation. In the winter you go outside and watch your house and you can see where heat is escaping. Or if you have air conditioning, also the reversed in the summer.

I was able to frame up two comb strips into every one of 15 frames. But, the restricted area made it impossible for me to find the queen. It’s so precious to see them sucking on their “dummys,” (pacifiers), and going into a “milk coma” after the tiny bottle is empty...finding the bats was like finding Mr. Ed-a providential occurrence!
I am confident that you’ll watch every wrangling video, and the wax and honey harvesting videos. I love Mr. Ed, and I love 🐝 bees! I love 🦇 bats! Also Peacock spiders! In Australia only!
      God bless!
Oh, and I also just learned recently that wombats poo in cubes! I’ve been sharing that factoid with everyone!
I love Australia’s flora and fauna! You rock!

@@JeffHorchoff all over the world bees populations are decreasing and I try to do a little like putting some sugar water outside for wandering bees to regain some energy but I want to do more. I live in Europe and tbh I didnt see a loy of bees this summer... and that saddens me they are SO important and actually magnificent creatures. I study animal care and tbh I want to invent a way to create more queens so more colonies could thrive. Not sure if it's a good idea but we need more bees at this point... if that fails I'll still want to own a hive when I live away from my parents their home. Wondering how to start out, there isnt a lot of info out there and you seem very experienced 🙌🏻
