I actually have to get good at guitar before I record myself, but I appreciate the heads-up on a dependable higher end interface. You did a good job showing how it works Darrell (nice ASMR with the pick).
Recording yourself is a great way to find and fix your mistakes. Also you can objectively see and hear how you progress over time, which is motivating. So I suggest you to record yourself as soon as possible.
Hey Darrel, when you do these reviews, do you get the product sent to you, buy them, or get paid to do it? I didnt really catch if you mentioned it in this video
I was almost about to buy this interface but I end up going for the MOTU M2, that honestly I believe is the best home studio and portable interface you can buy for similar price(a bit more expensive than the EVO) but worth every penny I haven’t have any latency issues at all and their CS is amazing!
Have you heard about the Mod Duo ? It's an open source universal effect processor that can be used as a full guitar pedalboard, including synthesizers, or even as an audio interface. The number of existing effect pluggins available is crazy and most are free, but you can write your own effect and loads are added all the time.
I bought my EVO 4 a few months ago. Great interface, and exceptional for the money. I use it for guitar recording. For $129 it's beyond affordable! I should have bought one sooner. I use it paired with a set of Beyerdynmaic DT770 PRO 80 ohm headphones. The simplicity of it, makes it difficult for recording beginners (and those not quite as tech-savvy as other folks), but once you figure it out, it's SUPER simple to use...Then the simplicity becomes a positive thing. 👍🏻 I will soon have a new video up on my channel using the EVO 4 with testing plugins. Rock on! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
@@MultiPetercool I play ALOT using my headphones and plugins with GarageBand... And there is virtually ZERO latency. When I hit a note, it comes through instantly with the headphones. I don't have any studio monitors yet, so I can't tell you if those outputs produce any latency or not, but with the USB 2.0 and headphones through the EVO 4's headphone jack, I have noticed virtually zero latency. I'm beyond impressed with that part of it. The preamps are also very warm and quiet when you plug into the instrument input in the front. I need to learn how to quiet the XLR's down a little bit, when mic'ing up my 4x12 cab, but I think that's my own lack of knowledge, and nothing to do with the unit.
@@coldshot0175 That's how I do it when mic'ing up my 4x12 cab. I always play my guitars at full volume (on the guitar) for max clarity (power) of the pickups. When plugging directly into the EVO 4 to use plugins through my DAW, then I don't select any input (1 or 2), and I make sure it's not selected and gain for input 1 is turned all the way down. Best way to do this, is to download the digital EVO 4 control for your Mac or PC. For me, that's the easiest way to control the EVO 4.
You know why I can't trust your guitar/accessory showcases? Because you're such a amazing guitarist that you could make a tissue box with elastics sound like a vintage Tele.
Focusrite Scarlett Solo is a great choice. Behringer UM2 is even cheaper and is also great. Look up some reviews online and take your pick, but these are some of the most common options for entry-level audio interfaces. I have expet with both and can personally vouch for their quality.

If all you are doing is recording guitar or bass you can get a USB guitar cable from Amazon for about $10. I use Reaper and it recognized it right away.
I agree. This Evo thing is way too complicated for my simple needs. I use a very old Line 6 Tone Port. It has an input for the guitar cable, a line out and a big volume control. That's all you need. It's USB powered so you just plug it into the computer and away you go. As simple as can be. I use Linux software to record my guitar work and that is a whole other topic...

Nice, but not anything new. Roland has this feature already for about 10 years now. My Octa-Capture has 8 inputs - two for guitar, but any input can be configured for 48 vdc plus a selectable onboard compressor.
