2 things: Looking back, I think it was a bit harsh that I said Bloodborne has EASILY my favorite lore in the series. I also really love Elden Ring’s and Dark souls 1’s ALSO, yes I went too hard with the DS3 - DS2 boss comparison
i love ds2. but the boss comparison is accurate. however the bosses you used to compare........ you know that was a bad comparison lol. dlc top tier boss vs extremely optional and missable boss in the main game.
@@Souljahfalife ya that’s what I meant, because that’s just the number 1 hate comment I keep getting on this vid. I figured it would be fine since I praised the game a second later but I’m guessing they all clicked off upon seeing that part
True, “the worst Souls game” isn’t really an insult considering, it’s like being “the poorest millionaire”. One thing I think most of us can agree on at the end of the day.
@@lolhello6829 In the case of DS2, it just means bad. Out of every game they've made in the last 15 years, that one deserves a remake the most, this time with a proper vision.
I disagree. I wouldn't put Bloodborne in top 3. Maybe if you play every game at 30 fps, then yeah, they all suck the same. As someone that has played every game at 60 fps EXCEPT for Bloodborne, then no, sorry, a game that can barely reach 30 constant FPS and it's limited to PS4 is just too restricted. Just like Bloodborne itself. A cut down, restricted to a lovecraftian world, everything is all samey, very few build options compared to any Dark Souls/Elden Ring. Forced long loading times going back and forth to the hub, stupid blood vial farming. Sorry, but no, Bloodborne has way too many cons to be top 3 that others don't have.
@@valrond that's your opinion. You may not like it but, there's a reason why it's loved by a lot of people. Some games are designed well that makes 30 fps not too bothersome. It's not your list anyways. If you focus on the negative you will never appreciate the positive side of it.
@Juanfra Valero I see everyone complain about the 30fps but it really runs smooth and just fine for me. Such a weird complaint when the game overall is amazing. Bloodborne is my favorite Fromsoft game. The blood vials farming only takes a minute. I ran the beginning area 5 times and never had to go out my way to farm them again. The other games have more variety visually but there's probably just as many if not less unique weapon move sets compared to Bloodborne.
@@valrond and it's not really "restricted" to a Lovecraftian world. That's the narrative and setting. That's like saying Dark Souls and Elden Ring are restricted to medieval fantasy and doesn't have much variety.
@@valrond the game being capped at 30 frames isn’t really a valid criticism for how amazing the story, level design, combat, and setting are. i do agree being restricted to ps4 sucks bc i really wish everyone could experience bloodborne
I literally bought my PS4 just to play bloodborne, also was my first souls game. Amazing, but I really just love DS1 in an inexplicable way. Something about the world just strikes me like no other games can.
It’s true, Dark souls 1 really has that magic feeling that none of the others quite captured, that being said, I also bought a PS4 just for Bloodborne, and it was more than worth it
How they made Sekiro's combat so challenging by mastering such simple fundamentals such as timing is honestly mind blowing. I'm not a fan of any soulsborn game except Sekiro for this reason. They made every victory feel so damn good!
@@DominicankareemI got ds2 when I was 14 when it came out just because the steelbook and the cinematic trailer looked cool I didn't know what I was getting into. I was so confused at first and thought it was absolute trash but I once I beat it for the first time I got so damn addicted to that series that I played every single game except sekiro more than 10x now (and elden ring 3x but it also took 3x longer) I can really recommend just trying to beat at least ds1 and ds3 once, get into the lore so it will be really fascinating how much meaningful detail the put into those games. Maybe demons souks remake just for the looks, that game looks and sounds mind blowingly good and it's much easier in comparison imo. I thought sekiro was bad but I'm really trying my best now and it kinda clicked for me, I think when I beat it it'll definitely be one of the best games as well for me. I'm stuck at genichiro in ashina castle though😂
This is kinda why I love From Software so much. Ever since Bloodborne, each of their games I could look at and say "yep, that's my favorite" and give fundamentally different reasons as to why. Bloodborne with it's beautifully crafted Lovecraftian world and atmosphere. Dark Souls 3 with the most polished bosses in the series. Sekiro with what I consider the most satisfying and polished combat system in any videogame ever. Elden Ring with it's sheer size and infinite amounts of builds. And these are just the standout qualities of each of them, numerous amazing elements are simply just shared amongst all of them. Even the Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, Dark Souls 2 trio have so much charm, albeit they didn't really age too well. With each release they keep reinventing their formula and using different strenghts as their main foundation, while staying true to the roots of the genre.
Dark souls 1 has the best world design of any game I've played, the fact that its like a 3d metroidvania where you unlock a shitload of shortcuts and secret interconnecting areas... all of which with useful items and secret bosses etc
true when i comes to the 1st half of the game, the second part of ds1 is rushed and unfinished, miyazaki even apologized for it, i personally think that elden rings legacy dungeons are the best in the series
@@rayyeras77 Lmao nice, but for real if ds1 replaced new londo ruins, demon ruins, lost Izalith, and Tomb of the Giants with fun areas I def would have had it higher.
I just beat bloodborne last week and yeah it’s an absolute Masterpiece. I have never enjoyed a game or played a game as close to perfect as bloodborne is. The combat is phenomenal the music slaps the level design is addicting and the bosses are most of the time incredible. My favourite part though honestly is definitely the lore and story. Your journey through the game originally feels like you’re trying to kill all the beasts to stop the scourge, but as you play through the game more you realise how royally fucked up the world is. And the insight system is so fucking clever. Having a meter to show how much your character knows about the eldritch truth and having it a be tied to frenzy is phenomenal game design and adds to the world of bloodborne just that much more. I could write essays on how incredible bloodborne is. Why there isn’t a remake, remaster or sequel yet is beyond me.
I got bloodborne recently and… geez is it hard I was starting to get into other difficult games so I decided to start playing the fromsoft games, and bloodborne was 50% off. Problem is I just can’t handle the difficulty. I keep in dying over and over in the central yarnham area right after the starting area. Finding it hard to progress. Do you have any tips for me?
@@alecotincknell2690 I do think it’s a tough one to start with, (mostly due to the finite healing system). With most of the games my first piece of advice would be take things slowly and be patient. But Bloodborne is the one game in the series where aggression is somewhat encouraged. You generally have plenty of stamina to work with, I’d say prioritize dodging over hitting, but know that you’re capable of dishing out lots of damage when you need to, and that getting health back by hitting enemies after they hit you is super useful and an exclusive feature of this game. Also remember to upgrade weapons whenever possible, I’d recommend using the saw cleaver or saw spear early game, (both of which are obtainable in central yharnam) and once you’re capable of getting the Ludwig’s holy blade, you can use that to make the game a good bit easier. Ultimately, the more time you spend with the combat system, the more it will begin to click, even if you’ don’t consciously notice. And most importantly, remember that your first fromsoft game will always be your hardest, don’t feel ashamed if you end up taking extended breaks within the playthrough. I beat my first fromsoft game 7 months after I bought it.
Sekiro has the best combat choreography by far. And i like that its also very layered and complex rather than just he attacked let me roll o and roll again and again. Instead there certain attacks that require certain actions rather than just timing a roll. Besides this far superiority imo the rest of the boxes are ticked just as much as the other series. - edit - with the exception of customisation.
I have 900 hours on ER and just started sekiro yesterday, it's combat is the best out of any game. If it had the music and variety of ER it would be the greatest game ever. They both tie at no1 imo
I don't have enough time to play all the games I want. RIght now I'm on tears of the kingdom. I miss Sekiro. Such an equally and challenging and fun game.
What's surprising about this video is that I genuinely felt you had great explanations for all the games, and made a fair and reasonable account to them. I understood all the points and agreed with many of them, which (as you said before) doesn't make them better or worse than one another individually (even if the video was to "judge them as a whole"). The fun part about all this too was that I kept guessing what you'd rank the game in as the list continued, and I was surprisingly subverted for a couple of them! Like a guessing game you want to hear more about, you know? Even if I didn't do that, the video was very enjoyable to listen to in it's entirety. Maybe everyone else had other ideas, and I personally felt DS3 and BB have their place in my personal top two, but I hope everyone can enjoy the game they love no matter the ranking. Cheers for the video, Astora. You really are pretty Chad after all. 😁👍
Demon Souls is like what C is in programming languages, although how cumbersome and tedious it can be at times, you can't help but respect it because that's basically father of all other sequels you like so much.
Hey man, great video! One slight mistake though, at 17:30 you accidently mispelled “Dark souls 2” just a small issue in an otherwise fairly fleshed out vid, good job!
Bloodborne has been my favorite since I finished it 3 days after it released. Platinumed the game and I've beaten it with nearly every weapon. Nearly everything in the game is phenomenal. God I love it, still need that 60 fps upgrade so bad.
If DS3 was non-linear in its world design, it’d be my favorite. I would like to see another try at something like Sekiro that’s hyper-focused on combat mechanics… but I also like my shotgun-parrying Cowboy in Bloodborne
I totally agree with your ranking and had the same doubts about putting DS3 above ER. DS3 pvp is the best of the series but Bloodborne’s lovecraftnian Lore makes you feel the madness going on in Yharnam. It’s like you can understand the character’s misery due to the bad choices they made. I really hope some day the make a film or a tv series about this masterpiece
The best aspect about the game for me was the immensely human atmosphere mixed in with the existential dread, it felt like I was actually my character it is so immersive
For me what I really like about the ds1 interconnected world isn't just how organic it feels, but how it allows the player to quickly assemble a build if they know where to go and what to look for. On a recent playthrough I was able to get a +10 magic weapon before the bell gargoyles because the game is that open if you know where to go and what to look for.
Elden Ring was the first Fromsoft game I played. It was amazing but, once I played bloodborne… it was over. I don’t play any other game at this point period. 💯👊✌️
@@discowolf25 Assuming you invested in skill from the saw spear, I’d recommend the Rakuyo if you picked it up in the first playthrough, if not then the beast Hunter saif, Burial blade, blade of mercy, and church pick. Burial blade is fun but not really the best against bosses tbh. And even though it’s a strength weapon, I’d recommend the whirligig saw, it’s raw damage is ridiculous, and even if you just now start investing in strength, it’s scaling for strength is S tier so it will still help, slap some good bloodgems on it and it’s actually a nightmare for your enemies.
Demon Souls did have one boss that remember fondly; the yellow king. I remember him because he was me! I remember just standing at his zone waiting to be summoned as a boss. It was just so cool and nerve racking waiting there and seeing other shades at that bonfire doing the same. “I hope it’s me and not that guy”.
As someone who quit bloodborn after 4 hour bc i didnt understand anything (gonna play it again later), who has been playing ER for 50+ hours and im gonna play Sekiro right after ER. Thank you for saying those are the best 3 in the series.
Great video man, I enjoyed your break down. I'm new to the Soulsborne games, so the only games I've played are DS1, DS2 and DS3. Dark Souls floored me for the same reasons it floored everyone else. Masterpiece. Dark Souls 2 I found fun but very frustrating compared to the other 2 games. So much so that I quit it halfway through and started Dark Souls 3. Dark Souls 3 is masterful to me. I've only just reached the final bosses of both DLCs, but I truly enjoyed every boss and every area. I wanted to chime in for the opposite view of what you represented by saying that I actually really liked the Undead Settlement, and thought the Road of Sacrifices was just fine. I also enjoyed just about every boss fight. Even the lamer first bosses like Crystal Sage and Cursed Rotten Tree engaged me. I'm one of the few people who struggled at Crystal Sage, for like 9 deaths, so I felt accomplished when it was over. And Cursed Rotten Tree was engaging for how large it was and the second phase drop in to a dark sinkhole. Then once I started to reach the ''good' bosses (like Abyss Watchers), I kept getting blown away by how cool they were over and over and over again. The game had both quantity and quality of bosses. Favorites were Pontiff Sulyvahn, Lorian and Lothric, Dragonslayer Armour, the Dancer, Champion Gundyr, even Oceiros just for the weirdness. Pretty much every boss in the game has been so memorable. Anyways, can't wait to play Elden Ring once I finish DS3. I'm not looking forward to the open world aspect, but I assume it's very well executed and fun based on the game's reputation.
One reason I really love dark souls 2 is because it’s the one game I never feel comfortable with. When I boot up Dark souls 3 or Bloodborne, I feel like I’m right at home. I can breeze through it and consciously know what’s happening. DS2, being the black sheep that it is, never gives me that feeling. It feels just barely connected to the rest of the series and that makes it more atmospheric and foreign to play. Instead of dark and hopeless, the game feels sad and weird. I think the feelings it conjures not only stem from the in game lore and atmosphere, but our reality out of the game too. It’s meta in the sense that a lot of people talk down on it, ignore it, or skip it when playing the series, and that makes the game and connecting community much smaller. The exact opposite of what I’m talking about here would be Elden ring, a game everyone loves and has played. You’ve seen every streamer play it, and it’s got this high budget and grandiose feel. But tbh I’d rather play dark souls 2 with it’s strange flaws and sad feel than Elden ring any day of the week.
For what you just said is the reason I always want to play DS2. Problem is I always get reminded why I don't like it. Most bosses feel like a letdown, gank fights everywhere, and the world is cool and beutiful but it doesn't make any logical sense with it's layout which confuses me and makes me forget and not care about it. I want to love DS2 but I can't. I'll try for the fourth time to get into it after I finish Sekiro and do my first DS1 playthrough
@@user-yw8ek4dj5v you just have to play it without expectations and knowing it’s got something different to offer. The DLC bosses honestly do live up to the FromSoft quality we’ve all come to expect though
Ds2 is a great game, and one of my favorites in the series. It offers the best builds with the coolest weapons, shields, and armor. It has the most innovative system and diversity of gameplay and game paths. It actually bothers me when ppl overlook the many problems in DS1 but lambast DS2 because of a original misunderstanding of Adaptablility and humanity.
I’d rather have ds3 or bloodborne’s gothic tone and style than a generic fantasy setting. Maybe I’m biased because I love gothic horror and literature, but I guess I like my games how I like my coffee
My Top 7 are: 1. Dark Souls 2 2. Elden Ring 3. Bloodborne 4. Dark Souls 5. Dark Souls 3 6. Demon's Souls 7. Sekiro 7. I personally found Sekiro's combat to be utterly boring and more than once dozed off mid-boss fight. While there were a couple neat mechanics I liked and sad to not see them carry over, i just could not care for the game as a whole. 6. I liked Demon's Souls enough to at least complete 1 full playthrough, but not enough to commit to several. Not a big fan of how World Tendency and the Upgrade System works. 5. I'm not really a fan of DS3, the game feels pretty stripped down compared to previous titles and it is very lenient to the player. Between the roll spam, high i-frame count, and easily run past everything, DS3's bosses is one of the few major redeeming factors in the game for me. The Ringed City DLC hard carried the game. 4. My starting point of the series, Dark Souls, hits differently in the series. I love the world design and interconnectivity, the grandeur of the bosses, in addition to the world lore. It's really only held back by dated quality of life mechanics. 3. The Top 3 are nearly tied with each other, but if I had to put them in approximate order, Bloodborne is 3rd. I was skeptic about the guns at first, but the gun parry is one of my favorite mechanics. I enjoy this game all round and it only suffers in some quality of life areas, though I do wish FROM would work with the Chalice Dungeons in a separate stand alone title in the future. 2. To me, Elden Ring is near perfect, but drops the ball is some crucial areas that hurts it a bit. For me personally, one of these areas is just how casters were handled in general. Like everything but the spells were handled poorly overall for casters and a lot of mechanics behind them are severely dated. 1. Controversially, Dark Souls 2 is my favorite of the series. I can easily overlook the lack of polish because it brought forward a ton of my favorite mechanics in the series, build diversity, fashion souls, balanced PvP, and it's the best in the series for caster builds. It actually feels like an RPG game where you're punished for blindly running into mobs, the large variety of traps, and there is a lot of return value in returning to older areas of the game later on.
Agreed that gun parries are amazing, also I like your take on ds2, it seems like recently it’s been getting more and more love, because while it lacks in some areas the other games thrive in, there are also some aspects of it that run deeper than any of the others, like, if you are really really into ds2, it gives you a ton of reasons to come back to it.
Sekiro is the hardest soulsborne game for me. Usually I can beat a boss after a few practice runs, but with Sekiro several of them took me 20 or 30 attempts.
It's the only one that I gave up on and quit.......I came back a whopping 4 years later to goof off and somehow found a way to beat an early boss I was stuck on, and went on to beat the game. Then I played trough and beat it again (new file, different platform). Then I got Zelda TOTK and I'm getting bored with that, but going back to Sekiro I'm thinking it's like a week until I get back to form, it's that hard. Now I'm just looking to kill time until Lies of P comes out, I liked the demo.
Nice vid man. Gotta agree on BB at the top. I was burned out early on Elden Ring, just not sure it has the legs of the other games. Keep the vids coming 😎👍
I feel the replayability is probably the part that burns me out the most for Elden Ring, and its honestly my biggest criticism of the game (the repeated bosses don’t bother me too much cuz I can understand that its open world and all that) But I personally feel the game can definitely hold itself up with the greats. Here’s hoping the DLC brings some awesome new shit
I remember buying Sekiro like a year ago and hating it because it was too hard so I deleted it. Re downloaded it a month ago and just beat Isshin the sword Saint today. One of if not the best games I’ve ever played. Gonna try all the rest
You should try bloodborne next mate , you will get used to bloodborne combat because it allow you to play aggressive just like sekiro combat. And the music and lore is phenomenal
@@minhquang2710 it’s funny i did the same with bloodborne years ago, downloaded it, kept dying at the first wolf thing and deleted it. Redownloaded it right after I beat sekiro. Gonna try it again soon
Dark souls 1 is by far my favorite. It is the father of the rest of the series and the world is interconnected flawlesly. Without a doubt my favorite game. I've finished it like 5 times on different platforms and I just can't get enough. It is so enigmatic. Fromsoft have made a bunch of masterpieces. They know what games are about.
I've only played Elden Ring, Bloodborne, and Dark Souls 3 (not finished just beat Midir, finished Ariandel and base game though) and Bloodborne is my favorite, and then Elden Ring, and then Dark Souls 3. I loved DS3 but some of the enemies, bosses, and areas I just disliked to a point that I had to take a break and come back a week later to continue on, when it's great it's great but when it's not, it's not. Bloodborne I just feel does everything so perfectly that even the area and enemies I don't like I still find ways to enjoy it. I've played through and done everything 4 times since December lol. Got almost 200 hours in. I'm at 230 hours and NG++ on Elden Ring and I'm at 80 hours in DS3.
This ranking from worst to best is absolutely perfect brother. At first I thought i was going to hate you.... not going to lie. Beacause I am a huge souls fan. I call these games my precious little babies because they are all so perfect. And they are very difficult to rank but honestly your rankings are perfect. Bloodborne and Sekiro are perfection.
I feel like Bloodborne will never be beaten. Music wise, lore wise and weapon wise it will always be above the others in my opinion. Easily my favorite game.
Nice video! Our lists are a bit different, but these games are all so good, there aren't many rankings I would disagree with strongly. Here's mine for fun: 1. Elden Ring 2. Sekiro 3. Bloodborne 4. Dark Souls 1 5. Dark Souls 3 6. Demon's Souls 7. Dark Souls 2 I recently replayed DS3, Bloodborne, and Sekiro after my 60th Elden Ring playthrough, and they all held up really well. Like, DS3 and Bloodborne could use a more visually interesting color palette, and I generally prefer Elden Ring's levels, bosses, and combat, but the games that came before it are still wonderful to revisit
Yeah, Elden Ring, Sekiro, and Bloodborne are all just swimming in so much combat and level design quality that it can be hard to pick, it really just comes down to preferences, if Elden Ring’s world was a bit more condensed it low key could’ve possibly jumped to number 2 or 1.
@@worddokument compared to others no, so much open world and secrets, pvp may not be the greatest but def still there. Some bosses still fun to replay. I never play pve and this game has me playing it
i agree Bloodborne it's just amazing I just had the chance to complete it last month and oh boy I'm going to get myself with the dlc too. after that I'll play sekiro I'm excited for that one too
I swear, the people that started with 3 are incredibly nostalgia blind for it lmao. If you played 1 first, you'd realize how cheap and hollow 3 feels. Everything cool kn 3 comes straight from 1.
@@ATthemusician "Everything cool from the sequel to a game came from the original game!" lmao what logic is that? of course the sequel uses stuff from the original? i mean if you're talking about stuff like Anor Londo then yeah i get that, but im pretty sure most people agree the best stuff in the game is what makes it unique? The fast combat, the new bosses, the amazing second DLC, etc.
Dude the actual feel of dark souls (1) game play is indescribably fun and addictive. If you played it, you know what I mean. Bloodborne and sekiro are the goats 🐐 tho
it feels clunky to me tbh. i like the slower pace of the combat and the added focus on stamina management and roll timing (unlike DS3 and ER where you can roll spam and get away with it sometimes), but man the 4 directional roll is a pain in the ass and is half the reason why the combat feels so dated to me. Other than that the combat is ok. if ds1 had ds2 combat it would be perfect.
I wish there was a play style in Elden ring where you could have Sekiro like combat. Like where you could clang the swords together. I was hoping that was in ER.
@@chadofastora I just wished that they would have somehow combined the combat of dark souls and Sekiro together. Like if you were 2 handing weapons, you can parry attacks with the clang of the different weapons, and each weapon has their own animation of parrying an attack. That would have been allot more work but damn it would have been worth it. And then they also have the Bloodborne inspired combat with 2 step weapon art.
i’m surprised you say the environment in Bloodborne was your favorite, id have to give that one to Sekiro. So beautiful and good variety of dark spookiness along with light beautiful landscapes.
Sekiro’s is also absolutely fantastic. Despite being the least fantasy driven of the worlds, I still found it super magical and fun to explore. Bloodborne just gets the edge due to its masterful way of integrating a lovecraftian twist
Sometimes the variety in Sekiros environments made it feel like I was just looking at a different computer background each area. While Bloodbornes has similar lighting it felt more like it was a believable world and only contributed to the environment and atmosphere
I went from playing all other souls games besides Sekiro and then trying ds2 and ds2 become my 3rd favorite souls game. It had a special charm that makes me love it
I played a couple of hours of Bloodborne on default monitor settings, it looks dull. Because the dark area was still kinda greyish. Once I adjusted the monitor settings so that the dark is actually dark, it looks great. Still wanted a bit more lighting but overall I like the aesthetic. You can tell by going to the in-game brightness settings page whether your monitor is set correctly. If the hunter on the right hand side still can be seen obviously, then your black level is too high (I tried to adjust the brightness, but looks like black level is the actual problem, at least in my case).
DS3 has some amazing isolated levels (second half in particular and Lothric) and some of the strongest bosses. The bad overall world design let's it down but it's still brilliant
This "bad" overall design (which is not even bad, the fact thats is not as good as ds1 design doesn't make it bad!) its still miles better than elden's open world design...
I agree entirely about ds1. When I rank these games, it’s never near the top, but in terms of personal enjoyment, there’s just something about it. Maybe it’s bc it’s super easy and casual to play after having played the others, or maybe bc of the phenomenal level design and vibe. Whatever the reason, ds1 is one of my favorites and one I always return to. And it’s not even an “everyone’s first souls game is their favorite one” situation, bc I played ER, ds3, and bloodborne first
Totally agree with your choices... Sekiro was hard as hell, but I really enjoyed it.. Bloodborne is my favourite game of all time 👍and it drives me insane that Dark souls got 3 installments of that series, and Bloodborne still hasn't been given a go ahead for a sequel 😢... and although a lot of people loved Elden Ring, I just thought it was dark souls 3 on a horse 😒
elden ring is probly some of fromsofts most sloppy and lazy work. as a long time fan and veteran of the franchise its one of my least favorites out of them all. very boring and tedious, way too big and bloated.
@@Chadius_Thundercocky’all judge based on nostalgia, objectivity Elden ring is by far the best, the only thing people criticize is the amount of bosses that appear as small bosses after defeating them but that’s it. It’s still hella lots of different bosses to fight
Ds3 is my 1st fromsoftware game and the best for me, like you i had more time on this one, and i had only great time even if for a 1st time that was a bit hard but the Dlc’s, fights, zones and the story is sooo great like dude if anyone found a better game than Ds3 for me i would marry him for sure 😂
My goal is to get the Platinum trophy for all Soulsborne games. So far, I have Elden Ring and Bloodborne done, and I'm almost done with Sekiro. The games are absolutely amazing so far, and both Sekiro and Bloodborne have made it into my Top 5 games of all time.
currently trying to 100% DS3. Just so you know, you will have 0 fun lmao. It's a lot of grinding enemies for drops that have below 1% drop chance and farming summons
@@thedudeofnothing7378 I 100%-ed it myself not long ago. Thank god Elden Ring is so much easier in that respect Protip: for Vertebrae Shackle, the easiest thing to do (if you have access to 2 computers in the same place, like a pc and a laptop) is to literally buy a 2nd copy and invade yourself up to 20 times. Farming the skelly guys is miserable, especially on high ng+ where I was. If you take less than 2 hours to do it (which you should be able to manage, it goes pretty fast), you can just completely refund the 2nd copy and lose no money. I've also beaten ng+5 Yhorm without the Storm Ruler, and it was hella fun. My current checklist to _really_ master ds3 is: - Get all the drip - Reach ng+7 - Do a SL1 run, or possibly even a hitless run
Elden ring is just the best, it is clearly ur just hit by the nostalgia, ok a few bosses appear twice or couple of times as small bosses after but that’s like the only thing y’all people like to criticize. Overall Elden ring is a masterpiece, and I’ve played alll soulsborne
@@geekinoffamolly8230 It's not just the small repetitive bosses, already the open world on a souls doesn't please everyone then the ost and the bosses are rather average overall (10 excellent bosses out of tons of average bosses it's not Good) The quests are interesting, the lore is good but bloodborn and even ds2 are the better (bloodborn is not debatable), one of the worst to replay finally at the end it's still my top 3 souls game but we are far from the perfect game hoping that the dlc enriches this idea too
I made the grave mistake of playing Sekiro as my first FromSoft game, now i think ive been too spoiled by Sekiros combat to ever play another souls game that doesnt have parrying mechanics 😭
Same bro, after sekiro all other combat systems pale in comparison, its crazy to think that it was just a side project. Anyways ive bren giving elden ring a chance lately and IT HAS DELIVERED the exploration aspect of the game just hits you in a different way and makes you addicted to the game. You should try elden ring while thinking about exploration as a priority ive found that it is much better than just narrow mindedly thinking about the quests and the over all story of the game.
@DC-jr1zw BRO NIOH IS JUST IMPOSSIBLE, i played DS, sekiro, elden ring and while i haevnt completed them yet i have not given up on any of them, they were hard but in a challenging way, it made me enjoy the game, NIOH IS STRAIGHY UP IMPOSSIBLE, 2ND ENEMY OF NIOH 2 IS A GUY WHO 1 SHOTS U
Bloodborne got me into these games and is one of my favorite games of all time and the main reason I got a PS4. It changed the way I viewed video games because I became to immersed in its entirety. Haven’t played Sekiro or completed DS2 but I played all DS 1 and 3 had to offer and loved them. Loved what I’ve played of Elden Ring too but Bloodborne will always hold a special place in my heart. I got an H.P. Lovecraft compilation book because of that game.
When you enjoy a game so much that you gotta follow up with the literature that provided inspiration for the game, that says a lot. I'd already read a few Lovecraft books years before Bloodborne came out, but the old KOEI strategy game "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" on the NES made me read the original "Three Kingdoms" book (2,600 pages, lol). Maybe check out Metallica's old song, "The Thing That Should Not Be" if you don't know it... or another song of theirs, "Call of Cthulu". Lovecraft's influence has thankfully endured.
Personally i don't dislike the lack of iv frames in rolling for ds2 it taught me to not always rely on rolling and to avoid some attacks by stepping to the side, something i use in all the other games
@@chadofastora No, it isn't the best. It is your favourite, which is different. It's demonstrably inferior to DS3, Sekiro and Elden Ring in nearly every aspect. But hey, it's a PS exclusive, so it gets bonus points, and if you like the setting, it also gets bonus points.
@@valrond tbf, while i agree with you that it can be his favorite and not everyone’s best, but the second argument of you thinking it’s inferior to the other games you mentioned then that’s really just an opinion as well.
I really love not having to worry about leveling up my weapons and stats all the time. So Sekiro is first for me as you really get to expirience the game as the creators wanted you to. In dark souls I was always worried if my weapon of choise is weak and how on earth am I going to farm enough to be able to fully upgrade it. In Elden Ring it's a total chaos. You really can't know which weapon is good or not on your first playthrough and when you get to Malenia you might have to fully change your build or she's gonna mess you up. In Sekiro you just don't give a shit about your weapons or stats. You just go die again and again to a boss not caring about anything until you get the kill.
I’m relatively new to the souls series, and I’ve only played elden Ring and Bloodborne, so I’ve only had good experiences with these games. So good, in fact that I’ve been inclined to get all of the achievements in them, which doesn’t happen much because I’m so lazy.
I haven’t played all games yet but here’s a ranking of the ones i played: 1. Elden Ring, most content and variety of builds 2. Dark Souls 3, Bosses and Music is amazing 3. Bloodborne, most original setting and weapons (currently playing, might overtake DS3) 4. Demon‘s Souls (Ps5 Remake), gameplay is a little bit aged but for me it was a great introduction to From Soft Games Im really looking forward to play DS1 Remasters (already owned) After that i definable will play Sekiro too. Im not sure about playing DS2 tbh 🤷🏻♂️
You should REALLY play Dark Souls 2, man. Once you get set with the janky controls you’ll get yourself into an amazing adventure. I regret not playing it soon because the fanbase shidded on it. But man, the scenarios, weapons, mechanics, weapons variety of builds and the sheer amount of content the game has. I really had so much fun playing it that for the first time, even after playing ALL the other games that were released at the time (Elden Ring Wasn’t) I almost cried at the end with the beautiful credit song appreciating every single minute I spent playing. Just play it, man.
Great ranking, after playing Sekiro and BB again recently I switched my top 2. I have Sekiro at number 1 now but it could probably change depending on the day you ask 😂
BB is the best game ever. I have finished ER, DS3 and Demon's Souls twice. But I could not finish any of these games third time. I am on fifth playthrough of BB. Love every point you made. I feel the same way about BB even though I have played fewer souls games.
My view is the opposite, I adored all three Dark Souls, including 2 before it's enhancement and Elden Ring as well (Sekiro too), but Bloodbourne was a slog. Personally the worst FromSoftware experience I've had. Could not finish the game, or even reach the halway point. Not for me. Going to try Demon Souls in the future and see where it ranks.
@@yonikperez3110 Demon Souls have some of the bests zones for me. I don't really know why do i like this game, but t's probably because of the musics, some worlds (world 1,2,4) and the designs and concepts
We're all in the same boat yo, we dont gotta go at each others throats like that. I personally dislike BB and love ER, i dont see why i have to be shamed for that opinion every time i state it. Why cant we just enjoy these niche games without ripping each other apart? :(
Nice video! I'm on the team of Bloodborne been overrated but ever so slightly, I would be my number 3, personally, just under Sekiro and Dark Souls 1 (yeah yeah, I'm also a heretic for not loving so much Elden Ring).
@@chadofastora I'll compare to DS1 first: For me is that npcs are less memorable (just less, not that they are not memorable, I just prefer Solaire or Seigmeyer over Alfred or Eileen for example of story arcs) but also easier to skip conversation since there is no central point like Firelink Shrine, the world not been so much interconnected also plays a significant role too due to this reason. But the most important is because of the story, Bloodborne for me was difficult to understand due to a more convoluted story and I known that this is a charm for some but often I was confused and could not remember what or who did what in Bloodborne where in DS was pretty straight forward on the surface level and I could know exactly what to do and why (thanks Oscar and Frampt) and then after learning the truth was a magical moment. For Sekiro, the combat and the stuning visuals just clicked for me. As soon as I learned the basics I got so in into the game that I could just spend hours learning the patterns of the bosses and enemies in general to find the best strategies and all. And is so polished and well rounded that makes so delightful to play with the some of the best boss battles. Bloodborne is very very slightly behind I guess because of this, If it could have some more bosses like Lady Maria maybe it would be my top 2.
@@EvilLPS Totally understandable, Bloodborne’s story is a bit harder to understand without going out of your way to look up the findings of others. I would recommend watching VaatiVidya’s 30 min Bloodborne story explained vid if you want a good idea. Also Sekiro is amazing,I totally understand preferring it as I also did for a while.
Let me just say this: you can make a hellf of an argument. When first off going with my gut, i sort of questioned some of your placements on the list and when you started argumenting on it I was just like "yeah I can totally see that, actually". Good job, great video
I would disagree on the third placement if I hadn't played the Sekiro. Sekiro is straight up SSS tier game. Combat system, The bosses, Locations, Soundtrack, Characters, all make the game a masterpiece.
I tried DS3 and it was pretty hard to grasp .... then I tried Sekiro and I loved it I grasped the fundamentals much quicker then DS3. Furthermore from mastering sekiro and going back to DS3 I was able to grasp the concept and enjoy it more going back. Your list would probably be a guide for me in enjoyment of these games that I haven't tried yet.
My rankings: 1. Sekiro - Best combat, most beautiful color pallete, best bosses (Genichiro and Owl Father are mechanical masterpieces), most immersive and lived-in setting, and most fun traversal mechanics (Sekiro has the fastest sprint, there's climbing and jumping, and you have a grappling hook). 2. Elden Ring - Awesome open world, amazing art direction, best legacy dungeons (Elphael, Farum Azula, and Leydell), best Souls-like combat, and some of the best bosses and boss themes. 3. Dark Souls 3 - Has the best DLCs, has my favorite boss theme of all time (Pontiff Sulyvanh 2nd phase), the best multi boss fights (Abyss Watchers, Pontiff 2nd phase, Friede and Ariendel), great pacing, fast combat. 4. Bloodborne - The best art direction from FromSoft, best weapons (trick weapons are amazing), mechanics that reward aggression (rally system and limb destruction), the most intricate layout of level design. I haven't played DS1 and DS2 yet.
I am currently refighting to record a hitless fight and wow I am having the time of my life. I don't care how much I die because I WANT TO DIE. I wanna keep fighting and listen to that theme again and again. Probably in my top 10 bosses in all of the FromSoft games. PS: your vids are awesome. I am subbed

Finally a person who understands.
As long as someone’s top 3 includes Sekiro, Elden Ring, and Bloodborne, it’s a good take

@@thex6992so do you beat sekiro? or still stuck with genichiro?
For anyone who loves sekiro I highly recommend a game called sifu

I feel it, I’m gonna have to make like an hour long analysis of it one day
I got bloodborne recently and… geez is it hard
I was starting to get into other difficult games so I decided to start playing the fromsoft games, and bloodborne was 50% off.

I love when Souls content creators make these videos. Don’t care if we disagree because we love these games and will still keep playing.

My Top 7 are:
1. Dark Souls 2
2. Elden Ring
3. Bloodborne
4. Dark Souls
5. Dark Souls 3
6. Demon's Souls
7. Sekiro
I'm still stuck on guardian ape after 1 year. Started from scratch 3 times but still couldn't get past the ape and gave up.
I just don't get calling Sekiro a Soulsborne game. Besides the name, the gameplay is very different than the others
@@omegaweapon116like what? There’s plenty of similarities why not call it a souls game
@@amirali1409 cos its an amazing game but a pretty bad souls game
@@gregheffley3332 that makes absolutely no sense, after all it’s not called dark souls
Nice vid man. Gotta agree on BB at the top. I was burned out early on Elden Ring, just not sure it has the legs of the other games.
Keep the vids coming 😎👍
I feel the replayability is probably the part that burns me out the most for Elden Ring, and its honestly my biggest criticism of the game (the repeated bosses don’t bother me too much cuz I can understand that its open world and all that)
But I personally feel the game can definitely hold itself up with the greats.
Dark souls 3 is my favourite out of them all, the music is incredible
“What the hell is the depths” part for dark souls 1 had me very amused 🤣
The best ranking on UA-cam for souls land here
I feel like Bloodborne will never be beaten. Music wise, lore wise and weapon wise it will always be above the others in my opinion. Easily my favorite game.
World and presentation is perfect, and combat hits a great mix since the weapons are SO FUN
Elden rings music is better. Elden ring would also obviously be the best if there weren't so many overused bosses
@@heathermelton5688 Tell you haven't played the old hunters dlc without telling me you haven't played it:
@@Gilded_07 lmao even the ds1 dlc is better than that

Nice video! Our lists are a bit different, but these games are all so good, there aren't many rankings I would disagree with strongly. Here's mine for fun:
1. Elden Ring
2. Sekiro
3. Bloodborne
4. Dark Souls 1
5. Dark Souls 3
6. Demon's Souls
7. Dark Souls 2
I recently replayed DS3, Bloodborne, and Sekiro after my 60th Elden Ring playthrough, and they all held up really well.
60th ELDEN RING PLAYTHROUGH?? doesnt it get boring after the 3rd playthrough?
@@worddokument Not yet! Lol
@@collin2401 impressive, my friend
@@worddokument compared to others no, so much open world and secrets, pvp may not be the greatest but def still there. Some bosses still fun to replay.

i agree Bloodborne it's just amazing I just had the chance to complete it last month and oh boy I'm going to get myself with the dlc too. after that I'll play sekiro I'm excited for that one too
Ds3 has a special place in my heart and will always be my favorite
@@ATthemusicianOh please, it’s his opinion. I could go off about how shit dark souls 1 plays, how ugly it looks, and how boring it is.
Other than that the combat is ok. if ds1 had ds2 combat it would be perfect.
the actual feel of ds1 after anor londo is literal pain and dissapointment
Thank you algorithm for showing me this channel. I could listen to you all day
I wish there was a play style in Elden ring where you could have Sekiro like combat. Like where you could clang the swords together. I was hoping that was in ER.
That’s probably why a lot of people tend to go from Elden Ring to Sekiro
@@chadofastora I just wished that they would have somehow combined the combat of dark souls and Sekiro together. Like if you were 2 handing weapons, you can parry attacks with the clang of the different weapons, and each weapon has their own animation of parrying an attack. That would have been allot more work but damn it would have been worth it. And then they also have the Bloodborne inspired combat with 2 step weapon art.
@@bostontowny4life744 That sounds perfect, hopefully they could do something like that in the next one
I had terribly lofty ideas about what Elden ring combat might look like, not wholly disappointed but I mean imagine
@@user-ns4zm8qe9p yea I’m not gonna say ER was a disappointment, I definitely enjoyed it allot. But it definitely wasn’t my favorite FromSoft game.
The quality of your videos and the effort put in is excellent. You have earned a sub good sir.
i’m surprised you say the environment in Bloodborne was your favorite, id have to give that one to Sekiro.
@@chadofastora I agree with that, for me bloodborne just lacks variety. Definitely would have taken the cake imo if it wasn’t so monotone.
It had a special charm that makes me love it
Sekiro is definitely the most skill based game, its so rewarding to actually get better instead of just farming souls to over level
@@faniskane6879weird but good take
How does it have bad world design?
I agree entirely about ds1. When I rank these games, it’s never near the top, but in terms of personal enjoyment, there’s just something about it. Maybe it’s bc it’s super easy and casual to play after having played the others, or maybe bc of the phenomenal level design and vibe. Whatever the reason, ds1 is one of my favorites and one I always return to. And it’s not even an “everyone’s first souls game is their favorite one” situation, bc I played ER, ds3, and bloodborne first

We’re getting there, slowly but surely

Totally agree with your choices... Sekiro was hard as hell, but I really enjoyed it.. Bloodborne is my favourite game of all time 👍and it drives me insane that Dark souls got 3 installments of that series, and Bloodborne still hasn't been given a go ahead for a sequel 😢... and although a lot of people loved Elden Ring, I just thought it was dark souls 3 on a horse 😒
Elden Ring is much... much more than that
elden ring is probly some of fromsofts most sloppy and lazy work. as a long time fan and veteran of the franchise its one of my least favorites out of them all. very boring and tedious, way too big and bloated.

Nice, I wish you luck

@TheDudeOfNothing I'm also working on DS3 . I have about 35 out of 43 trophies.
@@thedudeofnothing7378
I 100%-ed it myself not long ago. Thank god Elden Ring is so much easier in that respect
Protip: for Vertebrae Shackle, the easiest thing to do (if you have access to 2 computers in the same place, like a pc and a laptop) is to literally buy a 2nd copy and invade yourself up to 20 times.
My current checklist to _really_ master ds3 is:
- Get all the drip
- Reach ng+7
- Do a SL1 run, or possibly even a hitless run
@@thedudeofnothing7378 if you play pvp for the covenants you can skip a lot of grinding, it’s actually really fun as well

Elden ring is just the best, it is clearly ur just hit by the nostalgia, ok a few bosses appear twice or couple of times as small bosses after but that’s like the only thing y’all people like to criticize. Overall Elden ring is a masterpiece, and I’ve played alll soulsborne
@@geekinoffamolly8230 It's not just the small repetitive bosses, already the open world on a souls doesn't please everyone then the ost and the bosses are rather average overall (10 excellent bosses out of tons of average bosses it's not Good)
The quests are interesting, the lore is good but bloodborn and even ds2 are the better (bloodborn is not debatable), one of the worst to replay finally at the end it's still my top 3 souls game but we are far from the perfect game hoping that the dlc enriches this idea too
I made the grave mistake of playing Sekiro as my first FromSoft game, now i think ive been too spoiled by Sekiros combat to ever play another souls game that doesnt have parrying mechanics 😭

Pfft. Try playing the Nioh series and playing ant From game for more than one playthrough (unless you like PvP).
I think elden ring has a sekiro deflect mod
Bloodborne got me into these games and is one of my favorite games of all time and the main reason I got a PS4. It changed the way I viewed video games because I became to immersed in its entirety. Haven’t played Sekiro or completed DS2 but I played all DS 1 and 3 had to offer and loved them. Loved what I’ve played of Elden Ring too but Bloodborne will always hold a special place in my heart. I got an H.P. Lovecraft compilation book because of that game.
"I got an HP Lovecraft compilation book because of that game"
Lol you too?!
@@PastorBateman7 exactly why I got it lol
@@Viciousverb I got a whole set of 5-6 books lol
When you enjoy a game so much that you gotta follow up with the literature that provided inspiration for the game, that says a lot. I'd already read a few Lovecraft books years before Bloodborne came out, but the old KOEI strategy game "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" on the NES made me read the original "Three Kingdoms" book (2,600 pages, lol).
Maybe check out Metallica's old song, "The Thing That Should Not Be" if you don't know it... or another song of theirs, "Call of Cthulu". Lovecraft's influence has thankfully endured.
As a fellow huge fan of Fromsoft, seeing lists like these makes me so sad I still can't buy Bloodborne for PC. 😢

Bro your review is really amazing 🤩
This is be my ranking too except DS2 being last and Demon Souls 6th.
Amazing video dude!
I do go back and forth with those 2 occasionally
I’m relatively new to the souls series, and I’ve only played elden Ring and Bloodborne, so I’ve only had good experiences with these games. So good, in fact that I’ve been inclined to get all of the achievements in them, which doesn’t happen much because I’m so lazy.

Sekiro is 100% my favourite souls game, absolute masterpiece
I haven’t played all games yet but here’s a ranking of the ones i played:
1. Elden Ring, most content and variety of builds
2. Dark Souls 3, Bosses and Music is amazing
3. Bloodborne, most original setting and weapons (currently playing, might overtake DS3)
4. Demon‘s Souls (Ps5 Remake), gameplay is a little bit aged but for me it was a great introduction to From Soft Games
Im really looking forward to play DS1 Remasters (already owned) After that i definable will play Sekiro too.

Nice video! I'm on the team of Bloodborne been overrated but ever so slightly, I would be my number 3, personally, just under Sekiro and Dark Souls 1 (yeah yeah, I'm also a heretic for not loving so much Elden Ring).
Out of curiosity, what holds bloodborne back compared to sekiro and ds1 for you?

A brilliant rationale. Well presented, sir.
Great takes, but DS3 really just hit different for me
Fair, I get why many consider it the best
My rankings:
I also love pontiff’s theme, one of the best for sure
I am currently refighting to record a hitless fight and wow I am having the time of my life.

I will never forget that hour where dark souls 3 struck me like a bolt of lightning when i realized that I could approach the game on my terms.
I have since played and 100% every game…my ps5 just got here this weekend and I’m playing through demon souls for the first time!
My rankings in order would be:
ER
BB
DS3
SEKIRO
DS 1
DEMON SOULS
DS2
1. Bloodborne (DLC remains untouched for making me bleed that old blood)
2. Dark Souls (i find the second half great too, dont mind Izalith)
3. Dark Souls 2 (played this the most)
4. Elden Ring (Souls got a little old, maybe the dlc can bring it one place higher but its gonna have a tough time, im really fond of DS2)
5. Dark Souls 3 (not many reasons to replay, since the areas lack and the ds1 fanservice makes me want to replay DS1 rather)
Didnt finish the other two yet
W opinion but ds2 over er and ds3 is not it chief
Finally someone who appreciates the second half of DS1, Lost Izalith is indeed pretty great
