Happy to see the Hunter Axe so high. As an axe guy I picked it on my first run without hesitation and it never let me down. It's still so fun to use to this day.
I chose the axe my first play through of the game and was having a hard time using it. I felt for me personally that it was slow and hard to land attacks with. I switched over to the saw cleaver and beat the game and platinumed it mainly using the saw cleaver and sometimes other weapons lol I love this game and wish they at least gave it a facelift of like upscale 4k and 60 fps but sadly it hasn’t happened yet… maybe someday…. Right?? Also very good video! S tier video
Idk why people pick the cleaver for a starter weapon so often. It gets immediately outclassed by the saw spear for beast damage and the axe is there for anything else
Beasthunter Saif is the best melee weapon from soft has ever created, style, beauty, quality, most unique stylish flashy and adaptive strategic fast moveset while looking realistic af, you can hit while you dodge, second only in pvp to no life saw spear wielding bloodadled hacker/cheating hunters, even then by little if you can wield it as fast as it deserves to be wielded, Beasthunter Saif has the best moveset in any game for that matter.
saif is the best of the hunter saw weapons, no doubt. instead of favoring strength (like saw cleaver) or skill (like saw spear) it’s an even mix, and has a better moveset than both essentially saw cleaver with more developed peyronies disease, but still a sexy moveset.
One day, the pimp cane will get the spotlight it deserves. I used it for 90% of my path to the platinum trophy and pairing it with the right armor just makes you look like a nightmare slaying gentleman.
whips are always fun to use, but they feel underpowered to me. beast cutter is one of my favorites animation-wise, seems like it hits so heavy but i’m just disappointed with the damage :/
Completed my 1st playthrough with the cane, it does eveyrything. Serrated, thrusting and blunt dmg too. Truly the best SKL weapon early on and even in NG+
@@joshuagross3151 you’re talking about the transformed version right? that kinda makes sense as it doesn’t really slash like the cane but rather hits like a steel pole lol. would explain the lack of damage on a lot mobs that are usually weak to serration
The pump cane with the top hat, and the charred hunter shirt, the pants you start with, daddy g's shoes and whatever gloves you want make you look so good lmao
The best thing about the beasthunter saif is how its initial dash completely changes the way you respond to enemy attacks. You're no longer required to dash before attacking, you can simply keep your distance and then rush in to unleash an extremely fast flurry of attacks, with great stunlock potential. This gives you a lot more control over your character's positioning, giving you more mental room to actually understand what the enemy is doing. It's such an organic and intuitive weapon to play with, in spite of its apparently tame nature
Making the saw cleaver only fire damage is a weirdly satisfying and effective combo. Since basically all beasts are weak to serated and fire. Same for saw spear essentially(and u get serrated damage in both forms,my gems have my cleaver stronger atm. Both are good)
@@ungratefulingrate1268 true as long as you look at the default number, but R1 combos deal higher dps against non-serrated-weak enemies at 50/50. It does lack the insane multipliers on transformation attacks, though
Honestly for me Blades of Mercy will always be my favorite weapon. It’s just such a fast and agile weapon. When you are using it you feel like you are dueling bosses. The dash attack is amazing and is perhaps the best dash move in the game, it lunges you towards the enemy allowing you to take advantage of its combo potential. The L2 attack can be used as a dodge and escaping once you learn it. The R2 attack is really good in combos and the transforming attack can be used for back to back for some sick combos. Once I learned how to use this weapon I never took it off.
@@AndrewEvenstar LHB is the best. But the Whirligig and chikage are nice for beasts and bleed. The church pick has an awesome move set. This game is too good. The chalice dungeons deliver the best blood gems for any build.
@@herohunter81 I agree !! I'll have to test it more. I got the normal version to plus 10. Last night I beat defiled amygdala in the chalice dungeons. 5 years later and I finally played through them, they are difficult yet fun! tonight queen yarnham is going down !!
@@AndrewEvenstar I finally figured out how to make chalice dungeons. I found the Uncanny LHB. Better physical I guess. It’s the move set and damage that make it a great weapon for new and old. I need to experiment with other weapons. I saw a guy use the executioner’s gloves to hit the Amygdala head and it staggered it for viscerals. I need to try it.
Kos Parasite is probably my single favorite thing in the game. Every weapon in the game is a brutal torture device and then at the very end of the dlc, you are rewarded with the complete opposite, turning your hunter into a goofy octopus. Its an absolute joy to use, from the animations to the sound effects. The backstep r1 is a projectile vomit and the jumping attack is a headbutt, i think thats enough said.
@treeg3goku990 Yeah I love the beast claws, that's the weapon that helped me beat the orphan of kos for the first time. Like the damage is insane, and I love the risk reward aspect to it.
Big fan of the movement changes with Kos Parasite. It's such a small change, but I love that you just move wrong while attacking with it. Really feels like something puppeting your body. And, of course, the transformed L2 is awesome. Useful? Probably not. Glorious to watch? Absolutely
I know a lot of people don’t like the Tonitrus, but I love it. It’s not my favorite weapon in the game but I feel like a badass lighting wizard when ever I use it
The Old Hunters DLC is so good. I think it capitalizes on the strength of the base game it was built on top of more than any other DLC. Vanilla Bloodborne's trick weapons look cool and are fun to use and all but most of them have a grounded aesthetic. You got axes, swords and hammers. Their DLC counterparts on the other hand are much more imaginative. You got a mace that turns into a buzzsaw or, my favorite, a club that transforms into a whip made out of the bones of beasts. And they are not merely cool to look at. They have viable and versatile movesets, and have satisfying sound effects.
The Church Pick’s L2 Attack is actually one of my favorites in the game; it’s strictly a combo attack that can temporarily stagger almost any enemy mid-animation so you can just keep walloping on them. It’s supposed to be in direct accessory to an aggressive play style which I love.
THANK you. The hunter axe is such a great weapon. Its so solid for strength builds. I started with the hunter axe. I always come back to it. Its transformed state is so reliable for being a hard hitting but speedy option.
The Chikage was the cornerstone of my bloodtinge build and it was probably the coolest build I've ever made in a Souls game. After optimising the build with blood gems and runes, it was ridiculously strong, especially with the Evelyn. Nobody knows what to expect when both my katana and my gun can erase half of someone's HP with one quick attack, the burst DPS is just insane and extremely efficient with low bullet and HP cost.
@@PopirnotChikage has S tier scaling with bloodtinge so it won't do massive damage unless your bloodtinge level is 50 and above (scales all the way to 99). Also don't be fooled by the status screen, it only displays the physical damage of the Chikage and doesn't add the blood damage so you will have to do the math yourself.
I’m in the middle of my first play through (just beat the Amygdala) and I have found the Blade of Mercy and Threaded Cane to be my go-tos. The extremely quick combos of Eileen’s weapon and the crowd control of the transformed cane are perfect for my style of play
Im so glad someone else sees the great potential in the beast hunter saif. The mobility that it gives you is simply the best. Definitely the most underrated weapon in bloodborne. You're the onoy one that actually mentions it. I think people don't even try it out and think it's just another saw cleaver clone which couldn't be further from the truth. Great list and video man.
@@DogmaticDreams true but you're kidding yourself if you think that more than 5 to 7 people at most are actually aware of this game's competitive pvp scene.
@@DogmaticDreams hardly anyone in the bloodborne community talks about it online. It's more like the results are speaking louder when it comes to the meta, but still no one talks about the weapon even then.
The Beasthunter Saif is easily responsible for some of the most enjoyable gameplay I've experienced, and I daresay best embodies Bloodborne's spirit of constant aggression. Being able to attack while gaining or closing distance is nothing short of incredible, and flowing into and out of each moveset without even noticing is something this weapon easily does the best. Nothing is so natural, fluid, or smooth as this epitome of game design.
You can say all you want but the beast cutter carried me through all the mid and endgame, it's rage is incredible, it's serrated and it has transformed L2 attacks that are quick and bring the enemy on it's knees, in addition to making you look like a badass
Aww… would have loved to see the Kirkhammer on this list… for me it is totally the most fun weapon because it is so straight forward… the moveset of the untransformed mode is literally the same as on Ludwig’s Holy greatsword and once you go into transformed it’s a pancake maker… for me there is nothing better then letting a well timed charged R2 flatten an enemy infront of you and as they try standing back up sending them across the room with a second follow up R2 (beware: some enemies are too slow on the get up so you end up letting the hammer swing over their head giving them a nice hair cut but leaving you with your head cut off if not carefully avoided)
My top weapons: Church Pick Rakuyo Beasthunter Saif Kept the church pick and the rakuyo for my first playthrough. Glad to see you also saw the saif being incredibly underrated
Really happy to see this kind of content still being made for bb. I still have ptsd from doing pvp against the Saif. That thing became so annoyingly powerful because of the net code that it was probably the most overused weapon in the game.
As underrated as the Beasthunter Saif is, the Church Pick is my pick for the weapon that needs the most respect. Because it's quite hidden unless you're exploring everything, and it's relatively unappealing at a glance making it hard to justify switching near the end of the DLC, I can understand why. However, it's so damn satisfying and POWERFUL in both modes that it feels like you're fighting enemies and bosses in a completely different manner. Humanoid enemies especially feel great to fight with it.
The stakedriver is a personal favorite of mine. It’s just so cool. The range kinda sucks, but getting up close and personal with bosses and enemies really makes it feel like you earned the blood splattered all over you after a fight
The bloodletter is the most underrated weapon in my opinion, it's got great range, it's fast, it has an extremely powerful L2, you easily break poise with the transform attacks and it looks badass in general.
I absolutely love the Beasthunter Saif, favourite weapon in the game by far, its rally potential is through the roof too, so it really rewards the chasedown style it encourages. The only possible complaint I have about it is its habit-forming potential. Something I noticed when I went to play around with the Saw Cleaver/Spear again was that I was /greatly/ overestimating my reach cause I'd gotten too used to having that dash forward to work with.
Spitting straight up facts about the Hunter Axe. Just one thing that maybe you haven’t tried yet, you can combo R2, running R2 and jump attacks with an R1 for a second vertical downward slash and you can keep comboing from there. Not only is it fast and strong, but it’s also absurdly good at snipping boss heads and feels righteous to use every single time.
The Bloodletter is the most fun to use for me. Stabbing yourself and inflicting damage on the enemies, feeling like Maria, Brador, and any blood using chad is unparalelled!
Beasthunter Saif's transformed mode R1's will stagger Winter Lanterns, so I'll always have it as my secondary weapon when I am making a skill build. I'm not sure if it is the only skill- based weapon with such a high stagger, but it certainly is the one with most utility
This some damn good content hell yeah man! Also so happy to see beasthunters saif get some love, I remember the long hours of the chalice dungeons being so fun with that weapon.
Man, man, MAN. 3 days ago I started a new character and memories of my 1y old run came out: ability/bloodtinge. First weapon: Saif. Oooh, my favorite one. I was searching some of those ranking vids online to see people's opinions, and I wasn't expecting to find that as your favourite. I was thinking about making a video only to explain why I think that Saif is the most OP weapon in the game, but you did it well.♥️
I’ve been doing a Alfred cosplay run with the Logarius’ Wheel and it’s become my favorite because of the style of the attacks being big slams is just so satisfying to me and the fact you’re beating elderich abominations with a wagon wheel; it’s in the Same bin as the great club for me.
Really enjoyed this list and especially enjoyed the inclusion of the saif. My personal favourite weapon in Bloodborne is the Logarius Wheel. While the wheel is a pretty picky weapon in terms of gems(without the best nourishing or flat arcane gems it doesn’t perform that great tbh), when properly gemmed it is disgustingly powerful. It is also personally sooo satisfying to use the heavy, weighty bashes of the wheel while also having arguably the fastest dash r1 attack in the game. I highly recommend giving it a shot and I can guarantee that you’ll have it in top 10 in no time.
I definitely understand not having it on the list, but the kirkhammer is definitely the cleanest-designed weapon in the game, and by extension in the entire souls series. The moveset flows perfectly, the weight of every animation is perfectly tuned, it's not over-powered, (although I can imagine it feeling a little too weak sometimes) the transform attacks chain extremely well into combos with either form of the weapon, its visual design is fantastic. It's not at all a flashy weapon but that's gotta be why I love it so much.
is it not like notoriously good early game? i feel i’ve heard a lot of people used it. really good for staggering smaller enemies with the transformed version
This hammer is garbage.. I want to like it but the starting axe does way more damage even though the specs on the hammer are higher.. I can't make sense of it which is why I'm looking at vids now. I just started My Kirkhammer on a basic R1 hit does 21 damage with 21 strength My Axe on a basic R1 hit does 84 damage with 21 strength The gap is way too much.. Both are +1... I wasted souls buying the hammer and bloodstones upgrading it. And I don't know how rare bloodstones are. If it's rare like in Elden Ring, I might need to start over.. I'm 1 shotting badguys with the axe.. I have to combo the badguys with the hammer. Oh and when I pancake a guy with a torch, he recovers and hits me before I can do anything every single time. There's no way around it. Pancake him, he instantly stands back up and pokes me with a torch before I can swing again or roll or leap away. There's gotta be a better strength weapon than this hammer. I'm a strength fighter in all the FromSoft games I played. This hammer is the worst weapon I ever used in a FromSoft game. You name a strength weapon from ANY FromSoft game and with equal stats, they do more than triple the damage of this Kirkhammer.. 21 damage with 21 strength using a strength weapon? Come on man.. And my axe hits 84... The Grafted Greatsword from Elden Ring with equal stats probably hits for like 150.. The Kirkhammer does 21 😪
One weapon I never see anyone mention is the Amygdalan Arm. It's a great strength weapon, with a straightforward *bonk* moveset in untransformed mode, and large sweeps when transformed, with almost as big a range as the Burial Blade, as well as that awesome charged R2 where the claw slashes around of its own accord. And above all, the idea of using the disembodied, quivering appendage of a godlike alien being as a weapon is just 100% peak Bloodborne lunacy
Very interesting. I love the saw cleaver but didn't know about it not having serrated damage when transformed, makes perfect sense when I think about it. Thanks, great list!
My personal favorite weapon is Simon's bowblade, since it covers all of its bases, with incredible range in the bow form and fast, fluid attacks in the other.
Glad to see someone else appreciate such an amazing weapon. It’s just outright deadly in PvP as well. I love catching L2 spamming Rakuyo users in a quick transforming attack that takes a fat chunk of their health.
Destroying Ebrietas with headshots is also extremely fun I did a build 25 dex 50 BT, the arrows are brutal, funny to place in a middle of a fight while transforming and most of all if you play for the beauty of the fight, the close combat is super cool (you get a good moveset) + it is challenging with those stats as your damage inputs are not that high with physical damages but your powerful arrows make up for it. I loveee this build I played it in PvP too, it was more interesting than a chikage.
I love so much the Kirkhammer, is a sword with fast moveset that then transforms in a heavy hitter hammer. Sadly it doesn't have the best damage and the sword is shorter than Ludwig's holy blade's one, but i don't really care, is the weapon i finished the game for the first time and i still use it some times when i go back to bloodborne.
A minor correction is that the Church Pick isn't serrated. Instead it's given the beast hunter effect which is normally found from blood gem infusions. Meaning the Church pick can do slash, thrust, righteous and bonus damage against all beast type enemies. It's arguably the single most versatile weapon in the game.
@@youtubecommenter2527 The Church Pick is not serrated, but rather has a hidden Beasthunter damage modifier of 20% applied to all of its attacks that deal Thrust damage.
This video deserves so much more attention, 600 views is criminal!! The quality is easily up there with the biggest channels making similar videos. Keep up the good work my man!
beast hunter saif, my beloved! Soooo good in PvP. I've actually just finished making a skill-quality build in bloodborne! This game will always be SSS tier
I didnt expect it to be in this list, but there is something satisfying about popping a lead elixer and getting a charged transformed r2 off with the stake driver for a buttload of damage.
I agree with #1. Kos Parasite/Beast Claws are my favorites. The damage from the L2 is insane it takes a minute to charge but the damage, the jumping attack in the transformed version, and the transformed R1 has wide range it's a little slow but the damage makes up for that. The dashing R1 has insane range and does good damage and the dash attack has your character shoot fluid and it staggers most enemies. Untransformed the R1 & R2 has good range and damage it's fun to play, but most of all it's dope. You're the only person to ascend when the rest of Yharnam went mad and became an unsightly beast. You are A Great One. As for the Beast Claws the attacks may be slow but the damage from the beast blood boost is crazy and the roaring even if it doesn't do damage is the icing on the cake. But majority of everything I said about the Kos Parasite I feel the same about the Beast Claws the animations, moveset, and use of a rune slot which I'm okay with. It really ties the idea from the entirety of the story that you can either ascend to what the Healing Church was aiming for or descend into the madness of what they had done. Or stay human and fight. Also another underrated weapon is the Stake Driver.
As much as I love Beast Claw for its simplicity, I had a really bad time fighting Laurence with it. The short range and the fire penalty due to the beastie bar are downsides of the weapon.
The boom hammer is quite useful if youre trying to get rakuyo! Theres a ledge in the tunnels leading to the Orphan that puts you above the cave with the weapon. You can lure the big sharky bois over and do the R2 attack with the boom hammer and itll hit them through the floor. Be careful though they can hit you too!!
Ah, yes, the Beasthunter Saif, my beloved I've beaten the game for my very first time with the Saw Spear, and since I picked it up, I never dropped it, never really checking out the other weapons besides briefly glancing over em On my second run, I decided to experiment a little, and when I got to the Saif, I immediately fell in love with it It just feels so god damn sexy to so fluently swap between being right in your enemies face to spacing them out with this thing I love the way it looks, and I love the way it moves It was also the weapon that I beat Kos for the first time with To anyone reading this, if you play Bloodborne and haven't tried the Beasthunter Saif yet, do yourself a favor and do that the next time you boot the game up
Thank you for giving the Hunter Axe the love it deserves, i also love all if it's moves especially the L2, the first time i heard someone say that it was only good for the charged R2 i was so confused.
Out of all the weapons in Bloodborne, my favourite one has to be Amygdalas goofy arm. The untransformed mode is a bit basic, with it being a regular club, but it is fun to burry people into the ground with the charged R2, only to send them flying across the room with the followup attack. The transformed mode is very useful with its enormously long range (especially the jumping attack can hit enemies that are miles away) and the gimmick with the multiple hits during a charged attack is cool too. Definitely not the best weapon, far from it, but I think it is very unique and thusly, my favourite. Also, just the thought of beating people to death with an arm is hilarious
I have a huge soft spot for the Boom Hammer. That thing carried me and a friend through the DLC. The leaping attack destroyed most non boss enemies. Also big fan of the beast cutter.
The chikage transformed me from a saw cleaver/spear fan to a patient and calculating hunter, without a doubt. I imposed myself the challenge of getting the weapon ASAP after doing 2 playthroughs and some dungeons and since I didn't have a PS plus subscription to get the Lost variant I had to go kill our favourite hidden old guy to get it. And I got it at about BL 40 after carefully studying the moveset and stocking on some pellets and papers. The chikage definitely demands your attention with the health drain and is in my opinion one of the more rewarding weapons to master.
first played BB 6 years ago, beat the game with Rakuyo, Chikage, and Simons Bowblade. recently just did a playthrough with the Saif and man i cant believe i slept on this thing for so long. hands down my new favorite weapon
Shout out to the beast cutter, for its simple yet quite effective moveset. It may not be the best weapon overall, but it looks absolutely sick and it's so fun to use. Also the transformed R2s stagger almost everything, including bigger beasts, and deals serrated damage in both forms. Blunt gems do wonders on this. It may not be the best weapon, but along with the Saif or a saw cleaver/spear it can become really reliable. It'd advise it more for dealing with mobs rather than with bosses (although it still works really well either way) 🗿
God you're so right I have an arcane/str build where I'm playing Tonitrus, Boom Hammer as well as fire beast saif and electric beast cutter. I swear the last one is my favorite. I even have a video where I'm bullying Laurence with it. It is so much fun to use, the double R2 is the most satisfying move in the game you could smash a god's skull with it as the second one accelerates 2x times. Most of all with the ravioli mechanic (quick turn while you back step), you can launch a powerful freaking 180° thrust in any direction your enemy has gone in pvp I swear it is unpredictable for the opponent. Imagine a guy is turning his back on you and suddenly you get sent your ass to the wall behind you by a huge extended stylish thrust... dayum !
Beast Cutter is my go-to weapon for lower levels of CDs. The crowd control needed for the scale of the CD crowds really benefits from its extreme range and the serated nature.
By coincidence I started a NG+6 playthrough last night and randomly chose to use the beasthunter saif. Took a bit to get used to the moveset but you're right, that thing rules. My personal list would also feature the church pick (great speed and range for the damage output) and the kirkhammer (big bonk)
It took some time to get used to the Blades of Mercy, but it was a lot of fun when i learned its combos, also, when I got her to +10 she was a beast, defeated Germahn in my first try
I did the same with Hunter's axe. First try but I had already gone through the DLC first on my first playthrough. I was not expecting the bosses to be this easy. Side stepping in Bloodborne can be abused so much. Rolling is fun but still needs to be timed properly. And parry was also easier than most other souls games where I struggle to parry except a few basic enemies.
On my first playthrough when I got ludwigs holy blade able to be bought I did instantly had no idea it was the best weapon at all and never learned how could it was compared to other weapons either I just adored the desighn on the great sword part of it
Honestly a huge fan of the Bloodletter. While it might not be the best weapon, it feels really fast for its size when transformed, and hitting enemies with the transforming attacks is just so satisfying
Well when IT’s transformed it’s actually one of the best. The range and damage is just amazing. Not to count it’s our first and only blood weapon that doesn’t drain or drink health.
I totally agree upon the beasthunter saif. It feels so good and is so versatile, with such incredible transformation attacks, that it jus became my absolute favorite. 2nd is Rakujo and 3rd hunter axe for me.
I started out with the Hunter Axe and Bloodborne was my first Souls game. It works so well. I'm near the end of my first playthrough and I'm one-shotting a lot of enemies (since I invested in strength/skill). I didn't even know about the long-hold R2 attack and it's just crazy. I can take out 5 or 6 tough enemies in one go (two swings). I just have to keep repairing it because I kill so many enemies with it.
I've never seen anyone talk positively about it, but being a strength arcane nut, nothing hits harder than the Logarius wheel. I hate the quest for it, It's slow, it's range isn't great, but being able to one shot every basic enemy is great. Also, when I encouter enemies that take 3/4 damage from a hit, it bugs me so much that I didn't one shot them. That's where the health draining L2 damage boost makes my bonk happy brain go brrr.
LOGARIUS GANG it being slow is where you’re sorta wrong because the transformed R1 sidestep attack is fast af and you can BULLY enemies as long as you have stamina. If someone jumps out of your range, you can leap attack and catch them mid animation and stun lock stun lock stun lock w/ heavys if they’re not a boss. Also the quest might be cheesed where you can get Alfred’s stuff when he relocates to the Healing Ward and just straight up end him lol (Alfred is my Favorite character) :)
Hey! Thanks to your video, I started using different weapons than Ludwig's two swords and I couldn't be more grateful! Don't get me wrong - I still love Ludwig's Holy Blade, it was my main weapon through my first Bloodborne run and since I completed the whole game with it, including DLC, it will have a special place in my heart. BUT - after your video, while on NG+ and having massive fun (and frustration, too :P) in the Chalice Dungeons, I tried the Whirligig Saw, Rakuyo, Chikage and Church Pick, and had so much fun with all of those that now I'm basically trying out all other weapons you named and I love it so much! My next is the Beasthunter Saif and I'm so excited, seeing its moveset and reading the comments below :D So again, thanks for this great video!
Okay, man. I wanted to have like the left arm free when I first fought the Orphan to have parries since I had the skill build but when he hit second stage I couldn’t get a single parry shot from that ridiculous thing, so I decided to use 2 weapons in a single boss, first the saif. Man! What a reliable weapon! These movesets seemed broken and if I had more time with that thing instead of the other I would’ve finished Orphan with that. My second weapon, was the Burial blade (I had finished the game before getting the dlc, yes I fought Ng+1 Orphan, Laurance and Ludwig on my first time…) Since I was adjusted to the Burial blade (because let’s be honest around a game that involves so much death, morbidness and supernatural things, how cool it is to pretend to be the grim reaper?) I pretty much got used to fighting him with those fast and ranged attacks, it also felt rewarding to kill that thing and the moon presence with the burial blade, like some sort of revenge for Gherman man.
@@repusstax it's got top 3 reach, good stopping power, a versatile vertical and horizontal moveset, and pancake ability with or without the club. I routinely do about 2,300 damage to the Merciless Watchers with one slam/claw swipe combo.
Sorry. Holy moonlight sword is number 1 for me. I think you ranked it fair because I was willing to get the nourishing gems and was rewarded handsomely. But people who aren't really gonna do that can struggle. I mean the regular HMS was decent for me. I had thems kinda split but it worked. But I still think it deserves like top 3
0:45 Unfortunately the Switch Axe from Monster Hunter Tri beat ya to that by ~6 years LOL Great video though! Been goin back and forth about getting a PS4 or 5 for this game alone, FromSoft COOKED here lol
I know I am four months late but here is my list 10. Beast hunter Saif (because even tho it is fast the normal version is slow & it doesn’t have damage serration) 9. Blade of mercy (it is fast but it can’t be buffed & it doesn’t do much damage and it has terrible range) 8. Beast cutter (because even tho the transformed version is slow it has range + damage serration & the normal version is fast & serrated) 7. Holy moonlight sword (because even tho it is the coolest of them all it has a slow moveset but has range and this weapon is kinda useless if you are not on an arcane build) 6. Chikage (because even tho it does so much damage for some people it did like no blood damage for me because I have 44 blood tinge yet it does not do that much damage however it is very fast & has good physical damage) 5. Rakuyo (because even tho it does less damage than the Chikage it is very fast & it does so much damage in skill and this is the weapon I beat orphan of Kos with this weapon but overall it has a good moveset but too bad that I have to fight the annoying sharks in the well to get it) 4 saw cleaver (it is very fast & it does damage serration however I found this weapon to be a bit boring after a while) 3 beast claw (it doesn’t do so much damage without the rune but it does good damage. It is better with the rune tho like everytime you hit an enemy it gets stronger I like that. However it took me months to get it because of laurence the bitch vicar) 2. Hunter axe (I love the spin to win move it takes out every enemy in your way it does massive damage it is a good strength build. It does not do damage serration but Idc I love this weapon.) 1. Whirligig saw (it is faster than hunter axe light version. It does serrated damage it powers up beast meter pretty quickly I love the L2 hold it looks badass I love it)
Nothing beats the beast claws for me. If you equip the beast rune, it transforms the moveset into the most fun weapon in the game. Amazing animations, amazing moveset, and it’s really good. Idk I just find it so fun to just maw people’s faces off with this weapon
Yeah LHB would be my #1. Lol. That being said I don't know that I've ever spent much time with the Saif....onto another playthrough! Lol And yes I agree with the Church Pick, I realized what am awesome weapon that was a long time ago.
True, I was told it was the best in the game and that’s why I’m using it but it not even being in a top 10 is kinda crazy and makes me second guess my thoughts
@@chadofastora and omg the beasthunter Saif is easily the best. I love getting it to +7 before shadows and melting through the game. Combo game is insane
Putting the Boomhammer on 9 even though you said it’s the worst weapon on the list is puzzling. Especially since the Burial Blade, which is one of the most versatile weapons in the game, is the one right below it.
He literally said why, he doesn't like the untransformed attacks. I'm sure he agrees that the BB is a better weapon, he probably just finds the hammer more fun to use which is perfectly valid reasoning. He straight up said in the intro that the list is based on how much he likes the weapons as opposed to how objectively good they are.
Ahh, yes.. I haven't seen a "Top Bloodborne Weapons" video in a long time. Still, that is not the reason I like this video; it's because I agree with what you said and the way you explained it. Good luck with everything, fellow hunter!
My favorites: 10. Simon's Bowblade(shame it sucks) 9. Saw Spear 8. Tonitrus 7. Blades of Mercy 6. Chikage 5. Rakuyo 4. Church Pick 3. LHB 2. Whirligig 1. HMLS ...with Evelyn by my side, and the Executioners Glove, ofc.
*Saif is underrated. I will logically explain why it should DEFINITELY be in anyones top 2*: Although unserrated it still has very decent damage, but thats not the best part: As explained here it has hands down *THE best combo in the game* - start with the first R1 which rushes in with a stride whilst hitting at the same time, this hits far too fast for any enemy to counter, next then spam R1 a few times to land a fluid set of blows, finally as your stamina runs out hit the transform attack which causes you to dash away whilst landing a wicked long range blow on the way out. Rinse and repeat. It gets better: *This thing literally has the same stagger as the freaking Kirkhammer* but moves as fast as a cleaver! The tricked curved greatsword form has an unusually massive amount of stagger, going as far as stun-locking winter lanterns from full hp to already dead. It gets better yet: this weapon has a unique attack animation that's only accessible through a locked-on left-side quickstep. The usual quick step attack slashes diagonally upward from bottom right to top left. However, this unique animation is a horizontal slash from left to right. It is a purpose made crowd control move and also works great on agile bosses or in PVP. On top of even all THAT, *it has access to ALL the forms of physical damage in the game* all in its moveset with a thrust on the tricked form, blunt on charged attacks, and slash on the untricked attacks. For PVP the lunging and retreating attacks make it hands down the best weapon. They literally doubled my effectiveness -no other weapon can close the distance or retreat out of range faster. It also rollcatches enemies something silly. Finally it's charge attack is borderline o/p. I cannot recommend upgrading a saif and trying it out more.
Kirkhammer is the best weapon, in style and satisfaction when pancaking enemies then golf swinging them across the room, not other attack gets close (maybe stake driver a bit but there is no pancake), charged R2s on the whirligig has almost no satisfaction compared to kirk, felt underwhelming like a wet noodle after using kirk for a while
I love the Saif. Enemy players never see it coming cause they think it's a saw cleaver. R1, L1 is one of the best poke and retreat strings in the game.
I've never seen anybody else even include my favorite weapon in their top 10s, but I will scream from the mountaintops how much I love the Reiterpallasch. I love rapiers. I love gunblades. The vibes are immaculate, and even beyond the vibes, it has excellent single target damage in rapier form and good crowd control with the horizontal slashes in the gun form. Did I mention that one of the transformed attacks fires a bullet? Nothing is more satisfying than doing a combo, transform attacking to get a mid combo parry, visceral, and then continuing the combo. I know it's primarily used to facilitate canon builds and other cheesy stuff, which can be fun, but as a primary weapon, the Reiterpallasch slaps and is a goated weapon.
I’m currently going through my first play through of Bloodborne and I have found Ludwig’s holy blade a incredibly reliable weapon although it may lack some of the elaborate combat elements that weapons like the chikage it has carried me through many areas so I believe it is a definite top 5
Honestly, the holy blade gets a bit boring pretty quickly, mostly cuz it has such a high quality scaling by default, it kills every possible incentive to try out new stuff... It's actually way better in Ng+ runs, where you can reach like 800+ AR with the right gems. I'd definitely recommend to try all the weapons, and choose one by what kind of moveset fits your style/aesthetic better, it's probably more fun than sticking to a single weapon (although upgrade materials are a bit scarse in ng :'| )
@@brickch.6502 good points there I think in bloodborne all weapons come down to preference and if it’s fun to use for yourself if It’s not fun to use it’s probably not a great choice also for me the reason why I picked it is that bloodborne was my first souls game so I struggled alot so I went for the best weapon I could and Ludwig’s blade is what I found
@@jamman-th7zu yea same, when we play Bloodborne for the first time we always tend to stick with the saw spear, the axe or the holy blade for some reason. Tho I agree, all the weapons are perfectly viable 🗿
Btw, if I remade this list then the burial blade would be a good bit higher
the beast hunter saif is still the greatest🙌
@@dunce_bag agreed
Happy to see the Hunter Axe so high. As an axe guy I picked it on my first run without hesitation and it never let me down. It's still so fun to use to this day.
For some reason my dumb ass didn’t like it at first. But then I picked it up after like a year of not using it and was flabbergasted.
I chose the axe my first play through of the game and was having a hard time using it. I felt for me personally that it was slow and hard to land attacks with.
I switched over to the saw cleaver and beat the game and platinumed it mainly using the saw cleaver and sometimes other weapons lol
I love this game and wish they at least gave it a facelift of like upscale 4k and 60 fps but sadly it hasn’t happened yet… maybe someday…. Right??
Also very good video! S tier video
And the jump attack on that weapon is glorious
Idk why people pick the cleaver for a starter weapon so often. It gets immediately outclassed by the saw spear for beast damage and the axe is there for anything else
@@amazonbox8717 Moveset my guy. I'll pick Beasthunter saif over Saw spear just because of the R1 lunging attack.
Beasthunter Saif is criminally underrated. Glad to see it get some love.
Saif is literally the best weapon. The best cannot be underrated.
Saif carried my ass all through the dlc
saif is the best of the hunter saw weapons, no doubt.
instead of favoring strength (like saw cleaver) or skill (like saw spear) it’s an even mix, and has a better moveset than both
essentially saw cleaver with more developed peyronies disease, but still a sexy moveset.
That spam R1 is no joke. Been my favorite weapon since I got my hands on it.
I'm also glad it's getting its respect finally.
@@SweetMeatTMDespite being the precursor to the whip, I don't think it uses serration, but rather blunt.
Both are good)
Nice move set. Missing Serrated though right?
@@herohunter81 yes, but DPS is so high it hardly even matters
@@weebto lower damage than saw twins and no serration. it's more versatile but always does less damage
Me too... everytime I try and use something else I just end up missing the sheer speed you can shred enemies up at
lol, nice. I used them too for 90% of the time until I got the Rakuyo. I loved just going berserk with the transformed r1's on bosses
Nothing beats the satisfaction of smashing an enemy into the ground with Kirkhammer. The constant stagger you can cause with it is insane too.
Sounds like it causes stagger easily but leaves you little time for viscerals. The window is limited even with a gun.
Kirk hammer has been my main for 3 playthroughs (and platinum) but I now wanna move to the church pick or threaded cane ! HMS is too slow for me !
That and the beast transformation should definitely be on the list. They make the game unique and fun asf
@treeg3goku990 Yeah I love the beast claws, that's the weapon that helped me beat the orphan of kos for the first time. Like the damage is insane, and I love the risk reward aspect to it.
@@Stitched_up Yup. It was Maria for me. Demolished her with the claws
Big fan of the movement changes with Kos Parasite. It's such a small change, but I love that you just move wrong while attacking with it. Really feels like something puppeting your body.
And, of course, the transformed L2 is awesome. Useful? Probably not. Glorious to watch? Absolutely
@@chancecomic1595 Your comment on aesthetics > usefulness is absolutely spot on
I know a lot of people don’t like the Tonitrus, but I love it. It’s not my favorite weapon in the game but I feel like a badass lighting wizard when ever I use it
I like it, not the best, but pretty fun. Also I always end up spamming the transform because it sounds cool
It was always the boring but practical weapon for me.
High Arcane stat with all bolt gems the buffed form does crazy damage
Same situation but with boom hummer
Quite fun weapon
Yea one you find the right gems it can be pretty fun
It covers a weakness a number of other weapons have
Came here to say this. It's this long quick poke that stops near everything in its tracks mid animation. Great for pve and pvp.
THANK you. The hunter axe is such a great weapon. Its so solid for strength builds. I started with the hunter axe. I always come back to it. Its transformed state is so reliable for being a hard hitting but speedy option.
so glad the community of this game is still thriving! i only started playing it last year but i still get likes on my notes
I got the chikage and am disappointed in its damage. Give me some insight, please 🙏
@@Popirnot I recorded myself beating Orphan of Kos with this Chikage build years ago, here's the link: ua-cam.com/video/qlIENLKufHw/v-deo.html
@@PopirnotAlso, you might notice it’s really easy to switch from blood to non blood form, so you can always get free transform attacks
I beat the game as the guy from the cover of the game.
John Bloodborne
saw cleaver, ludwig’s rifle
Chad
@Jjw338 true lol
Its my favourite weapon and it's so underrated
Guh? Saif was pvp meta since it was introduced, it was insanely used wtf do you people mean “underrated”
Ewww 30fps this garbage game isnt even playable imagine playing a 30fps game you ponies still play this trash
My top weapons:
Church Pick
Rakuyo
Beasthunter Saif
Kept the church pick and the rakuyo for my first playthrough.
It’s really one of best weapons in the game. My personal favorite
True It looks crazy and does ridiculous damage with a bloodtinge build and blood gems
I do that a lot it is very useful
@@chadofastora Understandable, that shit is 100% unfiltered dopamine.
The Bloodletter is the most fun to use for me. Stabbing yourself and inflicting damage on the enemies, feeling like Maria, Brador, and any blood using chad is unparalelled!
Time to play bloodborne again
Beasthunter Saif's transformed mode R1's will stagger Winter Lanterns, so I'll always have it as my secondary weapon when I am making a skill build. I'm not sure if it is the only skill- based weapon with such a high stagger, but it certainly is the one with most utility
I think the church Pick's 2H form also staggers reliably.
I was thinking about making a video only to explain why I think that Saif is the most OP weapon in the game, but you did it well.♥️
Glad I could do it justice
I highly recommend giving it a shot and I can guarantee that you’ll have it in top 10 in no time.
love the logarius wheel, the gems really do take it to the next level the damage is so good
I definitely understand not having it on the list, but the kirkhammer is definitely the cleanest-designed weapon in the game, and by extension in the entire souls series.
I just started
My Kirkhammer on a basic R1 hit does 21 damage with 21 strength
My Axe on a basic R1 hit does 84 damage with 21 strength
The gap is way too much..
I used amygdalan arm on my way to the blt and it really surprised me how awesome it is
No Ludwig holy blade???????
LOL Ludwigs holy blade is for noobs@@AnimalsOverPeople1
Very interesting. I love the saw cleaver but didn't know about it not having serrated damage when transformed, makes perfect sense when I think about it. Thanks, great list!
My personal favorite weapon is Simon's bowblade, since it covers all of its bases, with incredible range in the bow form and fast, fluid attacks in the other.
Glad to see someone else appreciate such an amazing weapon. It’s just outright deadly in PvP as well. I love catching L2 spamming Rakuyo users in a quick transforming attack that takes a fat chunk of their health.
Destroying Ebrietas with headshots is also extremely fun
I did a build 25 dex 50 BT, the arrows are brutal, funny to place in a middle of a fight while transforming and most of all if you play for the beauty of the fight, the close combat is super cool (you get a good moveset) + it is challenging with those stats as your damage inputs are not that high with physical damages but your powerful arrows make up for it.
I loveee this build I played it in PvP too, it was more interesting than a chikage.
I love how you put the DMC music in the background 🔥🔥🔥
Its essentially the jack of all trades weapon
It is serrated. It's just one single giant serration.
@@youtubecommenter2527 The Church Pick is not serrated, but rather has a hidden Beasthunter damage modifier of 20% applied to all of its attacks that deal Thrust damage.
I went insane farming out of shape bloodtinge gems just for the perfect edgy katana build haha

Thanks. Though often my most viewed videos don’t get recognized until like a week after they’re up, so we’ll see.
beast hunter saif, my beloved! Soooo good in PvP. I've actually just finished making a skill-quality build in bloodborne! This game will always be SSS tier
Waddup
I didnt expect it to be in this list, but there is something satisfying about popping a lead elixer and getting a charged transformed r2 off with the stake driver for a buttload of damage.
my favorite will always be stake driver
If you have the beast rune with beast claws. It's deals damage with increased range on the roar.
Ah, yes, the Beasthunter Saif, my beloved
I've beaten the game for my very first time with the Saw Spear, and since I picked it up, I never dropped it, never really checking out the other weapons besides briefly glancing over em
On my second run, I decided to experiment a little, and when I got to the Saif, I immediately fell in love with it
It just feels so god damn sexy to so fluently swap between being right in your enemies face to spacing them out with this thing
I love the way it looks, and I love the way it moves
It was also the weapon that I beat Kos for the first time with
To anyone reading this, if you play Bloodborne and haven't tried the Beasthunter Saif yet, do yourself a favor and do that the next time you boot the game up
Thank you for giving the Hunter Axe the love it deserves, i also love all if it's moves especially the L2, the first time i heard someone say that it was only good for the charged R2 i was so confused.
Let me shake your (amygdalan) hand! I love that giant necrotic chicken wing like it's my child
There there, my beautiful beast cleaver. No one sees your potential except for me, but I will always love you.
first played BB 6 years ago, beat the game with Rakuyo, Chikage, and Simons Bowblade. recently just did a playthrough with the Saif and man i cant believe i slept on this thing for so long. hands down my new favorite weapon

It'd advise it more for dealing with mobs rather than with bosses (although it still works really well either way) 🗿
God you're so right
I have an arcane/str build where I'm playing Tonitrus, Boom Hammer as well as fire beast saif and electric beast cutter.
As someone who’s never played bloodborne, I agree with your list 100%
The axe is bloodborne's old reliable. It will never let you down. No bells, no whistles just pure functional utility.
On my first playthrough when I got ludwigs holy blade able to be bought I did instantly had no idea it was the best weapon at all and never learned how could it was compared to other weapons either I just adored the desighn on the great sword part of it
Good* don't know why it auto corrected to could and UA-cam won't let me edit my comment
Honestly a huge fan of the Bloodletter. While it might not be the best weapon, it feels really fast for its size when transformed, and hitting enemies with the transforming attacks is just so satisfying
Top tier transforming attacks, super fun weapon
Well when IT’s transformed it’s actually one of the best. The range and damage is just amazing. Not to count it’s our first and only blood weapon that doesn’t drain or drink health.
I always love seeing love for the church pick 🗿
eyyy, i paused before #1 before you even called it boring just to guess what it was, and i got it right. it's such a damn good weapon
so happy you put saif at 1. it’s been my fav forever
I'm in love with you homie, the beast hunter saif carried me and no one talks about it
I totally agree upon the beasthunter saif. It feels so good and is so versatile, with such incredible transformation attacks, that it jus became my absolute favorite.
2nd is Rakujo and 3rd hunter axe for me.
I see noone talking about the stake driver, please give it some love people
loved the dmc music for the rakuyo
It just seemed so right
1. Kos parasite
2. Burial blade
3. Blades of mercy
4. Whirly gig
5. Bloodletter
6. Rakuyo
7. Church pick
8. Saif
9. Holy moonlight
10. Amygdalan arm
My next is the Beasthunter Saif and I'm so excited, seeing its moveset and reading the comments below :D
So again, thanks for this great video!
That’s awesome, glad to hear you’re having fun with them
Hey just want to say I found your channel pretty recently, and as a soulsborne fan I really like these lists you make. Keep it up 👍
My second weapon, was the Burial blade (I had finished the game before getting the dlc, yes I fought Ng+1 Orphan, Laurance and Ludwig on my first time…)
Since I was adjusted to the Burial blade (because let’s be honest around a game that involves so much death, morbidness and supernatural things, how cool it is to pretend to be the grim reaper?) I pretty much got used to fighting him with those fast and ranged attacks, it also felt rewarding to kill that thing and the moon presence with the burial blade, like some sort of revenge for Gherman man.
The Amygdalan Arm is slept on more than my buddy's couch in college.
Finally found another person that enjoys the arm as much as I do
@@repusstax it's got top 3 reach, good stopping power, a versatile vertical and horizontal moveset, and pancake ability with or without the club.
An I’m over here just using the saw blade you get at the beginning…where these all at
Saw cleaver is a very solid option, you can’t go wrong with it. But ya, I think there are way more fun options
Ik that Rusty wont do this, but could you do a Worst to Best Armor Sets in Bloodborne(both Stat wise and Fashion) in the future?
Maybe, but probably not any time soon unfortunately
0:45 Unfortunately the Switch Axe from Monster Hunter Tri beat ya to that by ~6 years LOL
Great video though! Been goin back and forth about getting a PS4 or 5 for this game alone, FromSoft COOKED here lol
I know I am four months late but here is my list
10. Beast hunter Saif (because even tho it is fast the normal version is slow & it doesn’t have damage serration)
9. Blade of mercy (it is fast but it can’t be buffed & it doesn’t do much damage and it has terrible range)
8. Beast cutter (because even tho the transformed version is slow it has range + damage serration & the normal version is fast & serrated)
7. Holy moonlight sword (because even tho it is the coolest of them all it has a slow moveset but has range and this weapon is kinda useless if you are not on an arcane build)
6. Chikage (because even tho it does so much damage for some people it did like no blood damage for me because I have 44 blood tinge yet it does not do that much damage however it is very fast & has good physical damage)
5. Rakuyo (because even tho it does less damage than the Chikage it is very fast & it does so much damage in skill and this is the weapon I beat orphan of Kos with this weapon but overall it has a good moveset but too bad that I have to fight the annoying sharks in the well to get it)
4 saw cleaver (it is very fast & it does damage serration however I found this weapon to be a bit boring after a while)
3 beast claw (it doesn’t do so much damage without the rune but it does good damage. It is better with the rune tho like everytime you hit an enemy it gets stronger I like that. However it took me months to get it because of laurence the bitch vicar)
2. Hunter axe (I love the spin to win move it takes out every enemy in your way it does massive damage it is a good strength build. It does not do damage serration but Idc I love this weapon.)
Lol
And yes I agree with the Church Pick, I realized what am awesome weapon that was a long time ago.
I thought ludwigs holy blade was gonna be on here
True, I was told it was the best in the game and that’s why I’m using it but it not even being in a top 10 is kinda crazy and makes me second guess my thoughts
I sensed Bloodborne in my feed. I was right
Happy to provide
@@chadofastora and omg the beasthunter Saif is easily the best. I love getting it to +7 before shadows and melting through the game. Combo game is insane
DMC 5 has weapons that transform while attacking
I guess that’s actually true
The hunter axe r1 r1 then ending with a transform thrust is absolute chef’s kiss

The Saif is on a different level, never surpassed
My favorites:

This channel is my new favorite hidden gem
1. Saw Cleaver / Saw Spear
2. Ludwigs Holy Blade
3. Whirligig Saw
4. Hunter Axe
5. Holy Moonlight Sword
6. Kirkhammer
My Next Weapon in NG+2/3:
Chikage
Burial Blade
*Saif is underrated. I will logically explain why it should DEFINITELY be in anyones top 2*:
Although unserrated it still has very decent damage, but thats not the best part:
As explained here it has hands down *THE best combo in the game* - start with the first R1 which rushes in with a stride whilst hitting at the same time, this hits far too fast for any enemy to counter, next then spam R1 a few times to land a fluid set of blows, finally as your stamina runs out hit the transform attack which causes you to dash away whilst landing a wicked long range blow on the way out.
Also I absolutely agree, the Saif is amazing.
I genuinely dont think theres a single bloodborne weapon that sucks, except for kos parasite.
