EDIT: Door has been opened, 26 ceramic coins obtainable in fractured mode Pure White World Tendency and Pure Black World Tendency.
The 79 steps to enlightenment in SOTC remake was amazing. For the first few days of the games release people were scrambling to find all of the coins, which were unbelievably hard to find. It created an amazing hunt. There aren’t many things in video games that stay hidden for more than release day so the idea that a game can have a crazy secret with a super cryptic way of finding it is just amazing to me
The cat poster isn't in the tutorial area, it's in 1-3 on the left behind a fence shortly before the Penetrator arena. You can see it through the fence and get a great look using the photo mode!

It's still there for the girl in black and the monk looking person. They dont have any facial animations though because I think they talk telepathically so thats why it sounds so weird

That land of the giants cut content actually inspired Mountaintop of the Giants from Elden Ring. Not only both areas are frozen and are the home of giants, but also some cut enemies from demons of the sixth archstone were giants with mouths on their bellys, just as old giants from elden ring, like Fire Giant
I love those new backstab/parry animations, they remind me of the same brutal way the knight in the original intro moves and attacks. They did a great job on that.
The item will only appear on photo mode if you are standing in certain locations. When I was too close to the wall/gate to Yuria’s bridge, the item wouldn’t be there, if I back-tracked just a bit, the item would be visible on photo mode.
Okay, despite putting a number of hours into Remake, I actually didn't know that there was omni-directional rolling because Demon's Souls original 4-way roll trained me to fear the randomness of even attempting diagonal rolls (like trying to roll diagonally towards Maneater only to roll sideways off the stage), and thus my body was conditioned to always press a cardinal direction when rolling. This is great news.
It would be hilarious if the condition to open it is to kick spam Doran all the way to that door and he just casually punches it apart or something similarly silly.
The one in Shadow of the Colossus was deeply tied with the 10 years search effort by Nomadcolossus, the secret door location was only figured out after people pin the coordinate by tying together numbers from Nomad's 79th uploaded video. Could it be that Bluepoint did something similar now and the key to that door is tied to an enthusiast's effort somehow?
I'm so glad you brought up omnidirectional rolling. It's such a small but important feature. It was so hard playing DS Remastered after Bloodborne and DS3 because of that.
Real talk though, the PS5 could probably load in both Central Yharnam and Cathedral Ward at the same time, so the door *could* hypothetically be made accessible.
I'm prepared to cry because it might take ages before I can actually get my hands on this game, unless I get really lucky. At least it'll mean that this game will get a second surge in popularity once the console becomes widely available.

It’s most likely the dark and light system that governs whether the door is locked or not. It does the same thing in the very first section of the game where the dragon appears(not the dragon god). If you have dories too many times, the world turns to dark blocking off some areas( like access to the dragon slaying sword or butchers cleaver) or perhaps it’s the exact opposite and you have to die a lot for it to open.
What about yuria the witch new garb do you think blue point can update it back to its gothic look the fat offiial i can tolerate but the ragged attire was my favorite when playing mage hoping for a patch blue point seems to be open to feed back same thing they did with flame lurker when fans ask for it
Y'know, I kinda love how Photo Mode is now being used for secret hunting and potential boundary breaking. It's not merely an artistic tool to Souls fans, it's an investigative tool as well! That's why I kinda love this community.
For those that have demon souls you can also remap the touch pad in the control settings to make the photo way quicker to access. Theres a few other options but that one is the best feature so far. Gorgeous photos and some pretty intense fight scene ones too. Hope that helps those who have it.
Update: disortion2 open the "door of inlightment". Needed 30 ceramic coin (that really like in shadow od the colosus) exchange in the nest to get rested key that open the door. Get there the armor of the 3rd boss...
One thing I wish they did was updating some of the bosses AI and attacks. Maneater for example is still the exact same buggy feeling fight like in the original.
It's funny how good this game looks when playing it because it absolutely destroys any othersoulsborne game. The oldest game ends up being the most beautiful graphically. I know it's because of the console difference, but its still funny. This game is seriously gorgeous

The item behind the door isn't a conditional spawn. You just need to be further down the alley when you Photomode for it to appear. It despawns a certain distance away. Also, the cat icon poster is actually in an Out of Bounds area in 1-3, where the poster actually exists in-game
For the re-recorded VOs I was really interested in two things: whether they'd bring back Peter Marinker (King Allant/Stockpile Thomas), and whether they'd bring back the VO for Freke's Apprentice (who I think is uncredited in the original and sounds like some random non-actor brought in to do placeholder dialogue). Oddly, they *did* bring back Peter Marinker (who is one of my favourite VO artists), but only for King Allant and not for Stockpile Thomas. Maybe they wanted more variety of actors this time around. However for Freke's Apprentice, Jonathan Kydd (who also does Scirvir the Wanderer) voiced him this time around.
Dont know if anyone has said this yet but you can get the hoplite shield even if you didn't pre-order the game. I got it from the hoplites just past the phalanx boss fight while farming them for hardstone and sharpstone shards. The shield is pretty rare, I only got 2 or 3 compared to the 30 or 40 hardstone and sharpstone shards I farmed, but it is attainable from those particular hoplites and the version they give you is upgradable as well.
I agree with Ratatoskr’s video that bluepoint missed the mark on a few areas like the Tower of Latria singing being audible through the whole level or the Fool’s Idol looking more evil and corrupt whereas the original was more pleasant looking which would make sense why people would be drawn to her
I see you decided to not talk about the design changes of enemies, npcs and some areas despite putting Fat Official's original design in the thumbnail. Hope you make videos about those changes and their lore implications.
Distortion2 was trying for hours to glitch his way into the area behind the door, the whole outdoor area with the item is locked behind an invisible box that he was able to walk on top of. An interesting anomaly during his attempts to access the area is that there were times when he would load in with the item there and others when it wouldn’t
in Shadow of the Colossus, you said that the door was something that players of the original game had been hunting for, something that didn't exist in the original game, but exists in the remake. So is it possible, that the Demon's Souls door could lead to the sixth Archstone DLC which may or may not be added in the future? Like what if there is not any possible way to open the door as is, but there is a future patch that adds away, which you can open the door with and access the DLC? I mean, that theory isn't impossible, From likes hiding their DLC's anyway.
In theory, but someone is eventually going to hack their console to glitch through the door and grab the item, cheating the mystery. If that mystery happens to be a DLC key, that would be dropping the ball big time on Bluepoint's part.

I just finished Demon's Souls and the whole time looking at how beautiful it is I thought DS1 needs remake like this. And through the years 2 and 3 also
3 is still a really good looking game, I agree that the Dark Souls Remaster could have looked nicer but in terms of gameplay and QoL updates it's a hell of a lot better than the original. Scholar of the First Sin also did a nice job of make Dark Souls 2 look much nicer, I don't think these games need remakes like this, especially not Dark Souls 3.

I've finished Remake twice recently and I never knew about the archstone triggers, lol. I went back to the nexus each time to warp to a different area! At least the loading is fast :)
I don't hate the new music, but it feels too different and i wish there was an option to unlock the original OST. Yes unlock, so people get to hear te new one for the first playthrou but get the choice to use the original for subsequent / NG+ playthroughs

Fun fact about the door, discovered like 12 hours ago, you can exploit how collision loads to actually reach the courtyard behind it! And you will find... that the entire thing is surrounded by an invisible box and is still inaccessible. Whatever this is, they really want it to remain secret.

After some research I can confirm that people have tried A LOT of the more obvious ideas and still have no idea how to open that door. They've tested it at every world tendency etc, no-death runs, 79 of those gold coins in reference to bluepoint's last easter egg, etc etc

The fact your character struggles to pull their weapon out of the enemies during critical animations is a nice touch.
It is for the first couple times. Then you get frustrated by the time waste as normal attacks do more damage per second

It's funny how good this game looks when playing it because it absolutely destroys any othersoulsborne game. The oldest game ends up being the most beautiful graphically. I know it's because of the console difference, but its still funny. This game is seriously gorgeous

Not just the improvement in console hardware, but also that it’s BluePoint rather than FromSoft… I LOVE FromSoft and all, but they always seem behind on a technical level, both in visuals and performance

The item behind the door isn't a conditional spawn. You just need to be further down the alley when you Photomode for it to appear. It despawns a certain distance away.
Also, the cat icon poster is actually in an Out of Bounds area in 1-3, where the poster actually exists in-game

For the re-recorded VOs I was really interested in two things: whether they'd bring back Peter Marinker (King Allant/Stockpile Thomas), and whether they'd bring back the VO for Freke's Apprentice (who I think is uncredited in the original and sounds like some random non-actor brought in to do placeholder dialogue).
Oddly, they *did* bring back Peter Marinker (who is one of my favourite VO artists), but only for King Allant and not for Stockpile Thomas. Maybe they wanted more variety of actors this time around. However for Freke's Apprentice, Jonathan Kydd (who also does Scirvir the Wanderer) voiced him this time around.

Dont know if anyone has said this yet but you can get the hoplite shield even if you didn't pre-order the game. I got it from the hoplites just past the phalanx boss fight while farming them for hardstone and sharpstone shards. The shield is pretty rare, I only got 2 or 3 compared to the 30 or 40 hardstone and sharpstone shards I farmed, but it is attainable from those particular hoplites and the version they give you is upgradable as well.

I agree with Ratatoskr’s video that bluepoint missed the mark on a few areas like the Tower of Latria singing being audible through the whole level or the Fool’s Idol looking more evil and corrupt whereas the original was more pleasant looking which would make sense why people would be drawn to her
I see you decided to not talk about the design changes of enemies, npcs and some areas despite putting Fat Official's original design in the thumbnail. Hope you make videos about those changes and their lore implications.

Distortion2 was trying for hours to glitch his way into the area behind the door, the whole outdoor area with the item is locked behind an invisible box that he was able to walk on top of. An interesting anomaly during his attempts to access the area is that there were times when he would load in with the item there and others when it wouldn’t

in Shadow of the Colossus, you said that the door was something that players of the original game had been hunting for, something that didn't exist in the original game, but exists in the remake. So is it possible, that the Demon's Souls door could lead to the sixth Archstone DLC which may or may not be added in the future? Like what if there is not any possible way to open the door as is, but there is a future patch that adds away, which you can open the door with and access the DLC? I mean, that theory isn't impossible, From likes hiding their DLC's anyway.
In theory, but someone is eventually going to hack their console to glitch through the door and grab the item, cheating the mystery. If that mystery happens to be a DLC key, that would be dropping the ball big time on Bluepoint's part.

I just finished Demon's Souls and the whole time looking at how beautiful it is I thought DS1 needs remake like this. And through the years 2 and 3 also
3 is still a really good looking game, I agree that the Dark Souls Remaster could have looked nicer but in terms of gameplay and QoL updates it's a hell of a lot better than the original. Scholar of the First Sin also did a nice job of make Dark Souls 2 look much nicer, I don't think these games need remakes like this, especially not Dark Souls 3.

So about the Door of Enlightenment: in the SotC remake, the door was Bluepoint's nod to that wild goose chase way back in the original's hayday. So in keeping with the previous design of honoring a fruitless community effort, maybe we just keep Yurt alive this time and see what happens?

I've finished Remake twice recently and I never knew about the archstone triggers, lol. I went back to the nexus each time to warp to a different area! At least the loading is fast :)

I don't hate the new music, but it feels too different and i wish there was an option to unlock the original OST. Yes unlock, so people get to hear te new one for the first playthrou but get the choice to use the original for subsequent / NG+ playthroughs

@@MikeHesk742 I mean demons souls is practically abandoned by Fromsoft, unless Sony decides to fund a sequel, I wouldn't mind if Bluepoint adds the sixth world and they obviously are fans of the universe so I am more than sure they could do it.
If I remember correctly they did actually make a 6th Archstone area, but ultimately decided against including it.

Fun fact about the door, discovered like 12 hours ago, you can exploit how collision loads to actually reach the courtyard behind it! And you will find... that the entire thing is surrounded by an invisible box and is still inaccessible. Whatever this is, they really want it to remain secret.

It’s most likely the dark and light system that governs whether the door is locked or not. It does the same thing in the very first section of the game where the dragon appears(not the dragon god). If you have dories too many times, the world turns to dark blocking off some areas( like access to the dragon slaying sword or butchers cleaver) or perhaps it’s the exact opposite and you have to die a lot for it to open.
After some research I can confirm that people have tried A LOT of the more obvious ideas and still have no idea how to open that door. They've tested it at every world tendency etc, no-death runs, 79 of those gold coins in reference to bluepoint's last easter egg, etc etc
@@MikeHesk742 but clearly that doors are meant to be open because an item can spawn there. Maybe we can start from what condition that caused the item to spawn and work from there.

Man I’ve been loving my demons souls. Never got to play the original so I’m glad it was remade. The visuals and everything are awesome, but not to outdo the sound design, which is phenomenal.
