      Aw that's so lovely to say! I hope they might help someone themselves one day or motivate more beetle owners to learn about their engines!

    Nicely done! When the manual refers to “running in” it’s talking about a new/rebuilt engine which is in its running in period (first few hundred miles)

      Ah that's exactly what my engine is doing, it was rebuilt a few months ago and we haven't done many miles since so that would make sense! Thanks for this 👍

    I'd only wire brush the plugs as an emergency as the wire brush scratches the surfaces on the plug and gives better adhesion for carbon etc. Use a blowtorch and get really hot or replace with new. As for the plug socket, you can get them with a rubber bush with holds the plug in place so plug won't fall out. Nicely presented and clear advice though :)

    Nice video 💙 if they are oily sometimes I give them a little wash with a brush in some petrol.

      Ooh yes petrol is great for cleaning, I used it to clean up my engine. Absolutely adore the smell so I'm not complaining 😂

      Yes! It's something we tend to put off because it's not the nicest task, but it's satisfying knowing it's done for a few more miles 🙌. Thank you for the lovely comment

    Be sure to put some antiseiz on the threads, will save the threads in the head.

    Hi Harriet, I’ve just got my first beetle her name is Ruby and she is from 1969. I’m finding your videos really helpful as I become more familiar with her, can you post a video about changing a fan belt? I’d be very grateful. Thankyou for inspiring me! Nat

      @BalooTheBeetle  4 роки тому +1

      Hey Natalie! Congrats on getting your first beetle I'm so excited for you! I can definitely try - even if mine doesn't need changing it would be good to learn how to do it when I do have to. Will see what I can sort ❤️

    Why did you feel that you needed to clean them. Was it idling weird or shutting off? My beetle has been stalling at stop signs and I think maybe I need to clean the spark plugs

    hi I own a 1969 Vw bug and I’m having trouble identifying a part, it involves the wire that connects to the spark plug after u installed the spark plug,
    The wire has a little c clip looking thing inside of it, do u know what the name of that part is? and also how to get the clip on inside the wire I’m struggling 😂

    • @donaldbrittsan984
      @donaldbrittsan984 Рік тому

      Those are the original VW plug caps, unscrew the fitting on top of the sparkplug exposing the threads and original sparkplug cap will push right on the plug.

      A couple of times a year, and I change them once a year!
