I got the see through blue shell as a test shell for one of my 001 sps. I'm hopeful for it since I want to replace the shell on my 101 sp because while the screen and buttons work, the shell has so many dings and scratches from the previous owner.
I recommend the USB C to C charging mod and the Makho battery. It’s honestly very convenient not having to get out the proprietary SP charger to recharge the battery
Same. I didn't want to modify (AKA ruin) the OEM shell for the IPS screen which is why I replaced it in the first place. That said, this new one is fantastic, any previous issue I had with aftermarket shells was resolved here which surprised me. You can't beat the original but this shell is very good and perfect for mods. I am not being paid to say this lol
Hi, I'm looking for some good quality buttons for my gba sp, but mostly the non-OEM buttons are low quality and don't feel good to the touch, do you know if the eXtramerate buttons feel good or look like the OEM ones?
Hey, this is really nice and I’m thinking about getting it but I’m wondering if from the sides do the a and b buttons feel kinda mushy or if you pivot from the b to a button does it feel mushy or is it clicky because the shell I have now has mushy buttons and it really bothers me.
I don't think it's quite as "clicky" as the original but it doesn't bother me when I play. Overall I haven't seen a better aftermarket shell anywhere else and I'd recommend it. You could always swap the shell but keep the OEM buttons if the tactile feel isn't quite right for you.
@@FantasticQuack ok thank you, I was mainly worried if the buttons feel squishy/mushy at all because that’s all that bothers me I don’t care if they don’t click as much but the ones I have now barely click and are really mushy. As long as these are somewhat stiffer like if you try and push them from the sides if they are mushy that’s what I hate but if they are still that’s all I want.
@@FantasticQuack ok thank you, this has more than likely made me buy this shell just because of the quality and design. It’s so much better than the shell I have now. Thank you!
On my unit the volume cap just pulled off with little effort, but Nintendo may have used different switches where the cap is attached to/part of the slider--or glued on tightly (someone else commented a while back that they broke their switch trying to remove it). If it doesn't come off easily I would recommend just leaving the existing cap in place. I'm sure there is a way to remove it without damage if you want to get creative, but personally I have not had to find a solution for this yet.
@FantasticQuack yep thanks 😁 I dug into it some more and apparently Nintendo used to volume sliders one that is removable and then one at that is not. Which sucks cuz seems like it's a 50-50 chance to have one or the other and I just drew the Short Straw 😅
@@FantasticQuack Mine doesnt seem to fit. They dont seem to cut off enough on the side where the ribbon cable is. An amazon review even mentioned it. Do you have to force it in? Don't want to damage my ribbon cable.
@@bobharley1 Are you talking about the slit opening for the ribbon cable or something else? Slit opening was fine for me. Only notable thing is that when the screen is viewed from the angle at 2:39, the flex connection on the upper right is a little tight to the interior of the upper shell because the connecting cable overhangs the screen edge a little bit, but this has nothing to do with the shell and in my case did not impede the assembly. I got the IPS V2 screen a while ago from some random China distributor on ebay. There could be some differences depending on where you got the screen from and/or how you assembled it considering my case where the main flex board for the screen was applied manually with some adhesive (more clear if you refer back to my first video where I did the IPS mod in the gold shell). That's my best guess as to what's going on since here I had no problem with fitment. Hope it helps
extremerate shells are amazing, and they even send the tools with extra screws in case you lose the originals
That was one of my biggest compliments!

I still use the one in this video so if it's same brand I expect you will be pleased!
Wow the Great Wave picture on the shell really matches GBA SP. I am gonna try modding the same styly on mine too!👍
Awesome, let me know how it goes!

I hear you there, at some point I plan to more upgrades on this unit
Awesome Job Buddy 👍
Thanks 👍
Let me know what you thought of this new shell!
5:38 it already has a rechargeable battery
Oops I just meant a better battery. Must have had the original GBA on my mind when I was speaking.
I'm not a fan of shell mods because they never feel the same as OEM ones but that does look nice.

Thats the exact shell i was thinking of😂
It's a nice one!
What mm of solder did you use? And would 0.71mm work?
For this job .71mm will be fine. but if you have anything smaller I'd use it. I just measured mine and it's .42mm in diameter.

Nothing is quite as good as OEM but these are the closest I've found!
I need do this remplace shell screen and battery
Hope it all goes well for you!
@@FantasticQuack some year ago the screen was very expensive now is cheaper and ips
Is it compatible with the ags-001 version?
Absolutely, that's what I have in this one!

Is this shell compatible with IPS V2 screen or it’s necessary to cut the shell?
It is compatible! V2 is the screen I have that you see in this vid
