Hey man, I have PS2 fat that works but disc won't spin, and I can't find many resources online on this particular issue, do you have any suggestions what to do or where to look for help?
thank you)
🙏🏼 thank u 🙏🏼 thank u 🙏🏼
hi i have psp street e1004, and it dont turn on, not even light shows up when i charge it. I tried changing the battery thinking that was an issue but unfortunately it still wont even turn on.
The r button on my 2ds is glitchy but still clicks, any tips?
this is amazing, thank you so much
The mono audio only in the left ear makes it difficult to focus on whats actually happening here
Thanks for this. Very informative and I was going pay to get this done.
Perfect!
I got two of these and both have the same issue. I'm going to give this a shot and see what I can do!
Hope you can get it fixed up!
Hey, I need some help. I finally got my SP, but it has the same problem as this one. I thought it would be an easy fix, but I can't get the top middle screw out no matter what I try. Do you have any advice?
Bruh I’m so glad pin 4 was not needed because I accidentally ripped it off lol Other than that the swap was successful 👍
Nice work!
My ps2 boots up okay but the menus are patchy like you have a dirty snes cart or something. Anyone have any pointers on this? It’s so odd the boot logo is perfect but the menus are messed up. I do use freemcboot but the issues are happening with it without it in. I’m using component cables to an hdmi adapter. It was working fine when I last used it a few months ago.
You could troubleshoot the cables more buy just trying a regular composite cable on a different monitor
This is the best looking Playstation in my opinion.
Too bad it shows fingerprints and scuffs like no other!
Can i use a hairdryer to heat it up?
You can try but I don't think it will get enough heat
@FantasticQuack fair doos. Thanks for the reply m8.
Still not running the disc. Have tried everything. Disc goes around once and then stop. Something makes the disc wheal not rolling. Othervice the console is fine, clean and working. Im happy we have moved into the digital era. In olden consoles the disc drive is allways the problem.
Sometimes replacing the drive is the only option
I just wanted to swap out the rubber membrane unde the buttons, since they feel really mushy. Seems pretty easy. Will try later.
Hope it goes well!
i recently found my 3ds i used to play on that had this exact problem and i turned it on and it worked fine. but if i charge it while it’s on it pops off. what do you guys think
Melted my spring 😂 time to super clue a little piece of metal
Oh no!
Thanks
You're welcome, glad it helped!
But did you know what you just did by heating up the chips, doing the flux and putting new thermal paste is not actually the real fix for the problem it's just only temporary not actually fixing it even though after you do it it might seem that the console can turn on normally
Please refer to my pinned comment
But the problem of heating the chips is that it may actually make the chips bulge
They will be fine if you don't go too crazy. These chips are designed to withstand solder reflow temperatures
if anyone know where that background music is from, we can be friends lol awesome mod
I have a bunch of boxes to try this on
Hope it works as well for you as it does for me!
@FantasticQuack it sure did!
I was wondering if there was a way to trick the 3ds and allow it to boot without the audio cable connected?
Kinda late but is there another link you could possibly share to that screen kit? Retro Game Repair doesnt have it listed anymore :'(
Mine charges for a few minutes then the orange light goes out. I changed the battery already. The line turns off inconsistently.
If this video doesn't work, then just get a new battery for the system. They're not too expensive
second that
I cannot get the screws to unscrew! They are really stuck. I did get two, but the rest were not having it! Any suggestions? I am referring to the 10 screws, once the battery is out.
Where did you get the screw driver thingy to open the screw for the lid, I don't have it😭
It's a TR10 security torx driver, they're included in a lot of screwdriver kits or you can search for the bit specifically online
@FantasticQuack thank you son much dude🙏
Great video, subbed!
Appreciate the support!
My 3ds have this problem but i played with it How ever now it cant turn on😢
Thanks a bunch. Im gunna give it a crack!
Hope you can get yours fixed up!
I cringed watching you clean that fan with a leaf blower while still connected to the motherboard. An unpowered motor when spun becomes a generator. And can send voltage spikes back through your motherboard.
That's a fair concern, but keep in mind the motor drivers are designed to deal with some amount of reverse current ("normal" example would be power loss and fan spins down putting current flow back into the unpowered board). You probably could create an issue if you spun it high rpm for extended periods but I did not do that and no damage was incurred.
You saved my ps2
YOU did that, but I'm glad I could play a useful role in it, nice work!
Can you replace my controller shell for me?😅
Check my channel info and shoot me an email!
There's also a little white ratchet/gear right above the laser assembly that adjusts the distance of the laser away from the disk, if I remember correctly. When working on one of these back in 2006, I was able to get the drive to read games again after an initial adjustment, but couldn't leave well enough alone and adjusted it too close, thus destroying my copy of Devil May Cray and the damaging the laser beyond repair. Given my limited knowledge at that time, (and being thoroughly disgusted with myself), I threw the entire unit away.
Yeah I know of that adjustment and would have been my likely next step if my other attempt couldn't get it working. Based on your experience I'll be cautious if it ever comes to that on a future repair!
8:28 i cant get this thing back on. Can someone help me? :(
Well a while back where i worked clean at my uncle aunts house where I found a NES toploader with a few handful nes games zelda mario tetris wise, My sister and I were amazed when we founded this nes toploader researched it and was blown away that you load the cartridges from top like you do with SNES and N64 that my sister and I play very often! But then we founded out eventually not too long, looked at back of nes 101 console that theres no av out, or yellow white red holes like yhe regular nes toaster console does, that it would be hard but possible to hook up a nes toploader as we tried the nes 101 at first red light came up only plugged in ac adapter, Then we took it to our reteo flea market game guy as he was shocked that we founded this nes 101, and said what tv did we have, and he showed us this, that you could play an unmodded nes toploader on flat screen newer tvs, with the antenna back of tv cord that you screw on, plug in ac adapter, click on channel 2 or 3, he tried our super Mario/duck hunt, Tetris then his punch out game and good but not great news, the nes game screen came on, played any game we put in it, but no sound was the real problem though as we were only able to play some nes games without sound just not zelda cause we need some sounds for other certain games especially Metroid nes, So anyways my sister and I were so happy we founded this old nes 101 at first, then got said about having to connect it, can play it but with no sound, and retro game guy said he would give us a good deal or work something out whenever were ready, then my sister and I kept this nes 101 for a few more months figuring out what were gonna do and all, since we don't know anybody around us who would mod the nes Toploader for us as we have no experience of anything to fix worked on before, as were on tight budget with life ongoing things, as i hate for anyone to mod the nes 101 for free though and my sister said it's okay bubba it's no big deal if you want you never know who else might want it, and I said I know and she said i can just keep the nes games as treasure which is fine too, but still would like to play them somehow but with sound though, So finally we went to our retro game guy was happy ro see us and all, especially for my recent 32nd birthday December 3 gave us a good deal for the nes sale gave us good money, and some other good n64 snes games and a cib GameCube game paper mario thousand year door which was very good, traded sold the nes Toploader for other games for our SNES N64 and Wii/GameCube that were veey happy okay to have! Just felt a bit bad about finding the nes 101 that would kind of worl but not how we wanted unless we wanted to drive around spend more money or not find anything then selling the nes Toploader! But not everything you find learn doesn't always go as well!
I just put my consul flat and it worked
Sounds like the clock is ticking but I'm glad it's working for now!
@ lol
I’m in same route I bought used Wii same problem was same
Thank you man ❤
Glad to help!
This video helps a lot! Thanks!
Glad to help!
Just found the method after a few months of mine being packed down Just wanted to be sure of something you said. You mentioned leaving it to charge for like a day after the orange light began to stay on. Was that an exaggeration? Im worried that might also damage the battery
It is and also is not an exaggeration. I'd say at least a good hour+ minimum, but a whole day certainly would not hurt and would definitely get it to the max charge the (likely already near-death if you had to do this method) battery is capable of achieving.
@@FantasticQuack I see. After I did the jumpstart method the first time the charging light was stable but I unplugged it after a short time of charging when I was unsure of damaging the battery for prolonged charging. I havent gotten it to charge again after with the method so dont know if I need to jump start for a much longer period. Appreciate the reply also
Does a hair dryer work?
Yes
If you insulate the surrounding space and do it for expose the hot air long enough to get the temp high enough, maybe. I have big doubts on attempting with a hair dryer.
Looks great man! I like how neatly you tucked everything away. I just finished my second GBA backlight mod and was really pleased with the results, especially since I'm still kind of an electronics n00b. But hey, I'm learning and from the looks of it I can learn a thing or two from your video's, too!
Thank you for the compliment and I'm glad you found this useful! Looking forward to doing some new mods when I can get a little more free time :)
I bought a psvita with a busted screen from Goodwill and this video got it looking good as new! Thanks so much!
Happy to help! Good job getting yours fixed up!
Hey mate, my ps2 display absolutely works fine, but there is no audio. Nothing wrong with AV cable because it works with other ps2.. Can you tell me where i can look into for the issues
I would start by seeing if you can track down the audio chips and inspect there. Let me know if you can get to the bottom of it!
Also make sure you have your audio being sent through the AV connection and not through your optical audio jack. This should be in audio settings
This board would of been a perfect board to have a type c mod installed instead of the replacement oem style port
Was the PCB model# a certain type that is conducive to that mod? I was fixing this for a friend and he just wanted it normal/working so my mind wasn't even on an alternate route!
@ model number didnt matter. Only thing that matter was if you wanted audio out of the type c or not. There was an additional step if you did that needed to be done
Had mine in storage and it wouldn't charge. This little trick saved me money big thanks 🙏
Love to hear it, cheers!
