PS5 Controller Drift Fix | NO REPLACEMENT PARTS
This worked for me, thank you! I'm very grateful, I thought my gameboy was dead and feared I'd have to sell a kidney to buy a new one. Been wanting to play old GBC games again, and now I can.
didn't work with my ps3
you da man
the gears inside my tray are in totally different locations than yours, does that mean i have an older or younger model? my gears were much further apart, but i managed to replace the o-ring. but it still doesn't work
Wait did you say to let the membrane dry next to a full jug of apple juice?! LOL WTF Why?
Interesting
How did I not see you posted?!?!?! I'm 13 days late?!?!?! What the duck?!?!
*I have the same problem!!! Where in California can I get it fixed!*
This wasn’t working for me , what I did was plug it in turn it on then turn it off , orange light stayed on how idk
How much for you to replace my screen. It’s starting to go bad and you can tell on black screens
I found my og gameboy advance sp and it was just like this i took the battery out and it was a bit swollen so i ordered a new battery so hopefully thatll work
How long do those batteries usually last? I still have the original battery in mine still.
Depends a lot on how much it was used. I have 20 yr old original batteries still working fine.
@@FantasticQuack Not too much. Course my siblings had that kingdom hearts game and beating it once; plus being in a drawer for the remainder time I'm sure not that much time. I'm getting a orange light that comes on for a second and turns off. So I'm guessing the battery is bad.
Quick question does the 3d slider work after the repair? Also does the your console goes on sleep mode cuz mine doesn't pls help ToT
Dziękuję ❤ - It means thank you in Polish.
rip time for a new battery😢
if you wanna get straight to the point . the top screen flex cable ripped
does anyone know a fix for home and power button not working after screen swap. ive checked the internals and everything's plugged in, no debris/dust on any buttons. weird thing is when the console is off i can still get into recovery mode so i know for sure the home and power buttons work still, not sure why they dont work while its on. hope someone can help me with this thank you, gonna do some more digging.
Great video, thank you. Got my PS2 working tip top again.
Thanks bro 🫡🫡🫡
Stumbled across your channel. Loving it so far. Going to start binge watching everything. By the way, I think your clock has stopped working 🤣😅
how is the music from is it the cure
When I was trying to separate the stick from the pivot, I could not get it loose at all and ended up destroying it even more, and here you are doing it in 2 seconds with your fingernails lol. Mine almost came off my finger. Great video!
I purchased a screen replacement....so of course I come to UA-cam to learn how to replace. After watching your video....way over my head, can I hire you to replace for me?
You wouldn't be the first to do so, shoot me an email or IG!
Can u do a video on a slim ps2
As soon as I come across a broken one I gladly would!
look into changing the capacitors of the disc drive! that also is the culprit of the laser not reading discs!
Will have to keep that in mind if my usual technique doesn't work in the future!
@@FantasticQuack I have recently repaired a PSOne by replacing all capacitors so I am on a mission to tell everyone repairing consoles to consider that option lol, I just didn't know those little bastards cause all sorts of havok !
What if we use a material that's less prone to wear? say, for example metal?
Thanks! I actually did a follow up to this video to test how well it held up, check it out if you want!
Thanks man for the tutorial. I've opend mine today because of the same issue in the video with the audio ribbon cable and it seems like the opening and closing the lid over the years worn down the lcd screen ribbon cable black sticker like thing. I hope i can repair it, just have to wait for the replacement part.

Bros about to get a baby SP
@@FantasticQuackI have that same gba sp
I hope so!
Exept it works well with no issues
This video came in SUPER handy! Thank you for documenting your procedure!!! 🧡
Thank you so much! Hope I can help again in the future, cheers 🍻
Hey my problem is my GameCube can turn on and go to the main menu but the game disc will spin then stop and not read the game I’ve calibrate the laser and still didn’t work it would spin then stop and say no disc
Have you tried multiple games and run into the same issue? Apparently there are some capacitors associated with the disc drive that can also go bad, I've not run into it but could be worth doing research on that if you can't get it working with regular drive adjustments.
@@FantasticQuack I’ve tried different games yes. The console will spin for a little then stop and not read the disc. At this point I just gave up. I’ll just wait tell they add GC games to switch but I know tht will never happen.
Hey would you happen to know if the battery fits in to a V5 HiSpeedido shell if I just buy the FunnyPlaying battery door? I think the battery is too large for my current mod. Thank you!
I can't say for sure since I've never worked with one of those shells :/
What about the dead zones? Did you notice any? Did you make some test in a specific software that detect dead zones?
I just tested it with Mario 64 and it played much better than before the fix. In hindsight I really should have filmed the gameplay and added to the video for completeness--you're not the first one to ask about this. I might need to do a refreshed video on this topic at some point!
I got my ps2 for free, because it was junk, the trqay would not even open. I 3d printed new compenents for the tray in order for it to be able to open, but then the game would not load. due to that, I was frustrated, but it seems like this tutorialmwill help.
Sounds like some dedication, I hope you can get it figured out!
@@FantasticQuack It has been a bit of time, and it still won't work, the inside is a complete jumbled mess, and I now realize why I got it for free. I think there is only 1 thing to be done, which is to replace the entire disk drive.
You never know what you'll find in old systems. You can't question why or how it got in there, just accept it and move on. XD
Well said!
I had a mystery game with no label that wouldn't work. It was killing me, WHAT COULD IT BE?!?! I took it apart and cleaned it thoroughly. Still didn't work. 2 and a half mins into your video and I fixed it and this is only my 3rd time messing with soldering and first time reflowing. It was Power Rangers Light Speed Rescue btw.
Had me in suspense in the first half lol. Nice work getting it fixed!
I hate getting my disk drive jammed up with foreign objects.
Truly the worst
Crazy good fix. That drive assembly looked closed casing so how did it get in there!😂
Thanks! If someone pulled power while the console was in operation the laser head would be stuck away from it's home position (towards center of disc spindle). Then there is a gap for something to get dropped into and the next time power is turned on the laser head tries to home... *crash It was such a thin object in this case it just wasn't noticeable from a surface level! Crazy..
Looks like you could use clean & pressing like is done for comic books, to restore this game art flat without damaging the paint.
Very true but you need some expensive equipment for that.. I truly believe doing this with a sheet of glass instead of a finished table would have worked and caused no ink damage, but I have yet to try it. Cheers
Lucky fix but always a good reminder, thanks for the video :)
Thanks for watching!
Hi! Quick question and I know this video was made almost a year ago but do you remember how long it took for the game to boot up after the PS2 logo showed up? Mine doesn't have a disc read error for PS2 games (although I've noticed lately that mine tends to struggle a bit more with CD's) but I did notice that my PS2 tends to take a while before the game's logo or copyright screen boots up
I wouldn't be surprised if it was 15-30s the load times on these older games are pretty wild
Hi, when i opened the disk cover i found that the whole disk didn't have any screws holding it, is there any replacement screws for it or the average size of them so it can hold still atleast
You should be able to buy a miscellaneous assortment of plastic-threading screws on amazon or another source and just pick the size that fits best. Here's an example (affiliate link): amzn.to/458TGfE
@@FantasticQuack thanks my guy 👍
Are you still around for a questions ??? Can I use any other thermal paste besides MX-2
Yes and yes, I would just make sure it has the same or higher thermal conductivity rating
mine charges just fine on my other SP. I looked and it doesn't look like any solder joints anywhere are corroded or broken, charging port has been cleaned thoroughly. only charges on my problem device when the charger is in a particular orientation.
Sounds like the charger is not making good contact with the pins on the handheld connector. You can try pinching the shield of the connector with a pliers to make the fit a bit tighter. I had success recently doing this with a replacement / 3rd party charging connector
@@FantasticQuack it turned out to be a continuity issue after all. Reflowed a joint on the EM8 filter and it works just fine now
Well.... That looks like a lot of things that I don't wanna do lol
You gotta want it for sure lol
The paper lip didn’t work on mine. Sometimes it opens sometimes it doesn’t. I have to push the button several times.
When I put a Bobby pin in the hole i can’t push it any more it’s to hard and won’t budge it bends the Bobby pin and it’s pretty firm ngl
Have you tried a paper clip?
I got a nice clear red shell for my SP, and I noticed the speaker cut out if I hit diagonal movements on the D-pad. I thought it was the shell somehow prohibiting the sound, due to pressing down in certain spots. That was not the case, thankfully. I then thought the speaker itself was going bad, and tried one from my broken black SP (same exact color as yours), and that gave NO sound whatsoever! I then replaced that black SP speaker with my original red SP speaker, and still... no sound. I then looked it up, found this video, and saw the part where you bent the connectors up a bit. I tried that, and huzzah! It works, with full sound, and no cutting out (yet). ONe of my connectors was laying totally flat. I'm just glad mine was an easy fix. Awesome video! Thanks! I dropped a Like.
Thanks for sharing this story, this is what I always wish every sound problem ends up being, but for me I haven't been so lucky yet!
Did this for 5 minutes straight while laughing and rethinking my life. Those 5 minutes sitting on the floor absolutely violating my gameboys charging port were prob the most humbling / life changing minutes of my life. I started to doubt the method .. although I turned on my gameboy with the charger in it and then both lights came on then turned it off and the charging light stayed on. Thanks again for this trick.
Love the storytelling here and im glad it worked for you, cheers!
Thanks! Your cheese ended up fixing my retracting issue. You deserve a tip!
Thank you so much! Hope I can help again in the future, cheers 🍻
