Thoroughly enjoy all your videos. Was born & bred in Kelty and just thought I'd mention that the WA inscription on the large stone you passed near the end of the 'Kelty' video are the initials of William Adam, the architect & entrepreneur who built up the Blairadam Estate. A few other stones in that same car park have the initials of the 9 members of the 'Blair Adam Antiquarian Club' who used to meet at Blairadam House in the 1800's. The Club was made up of notable people such as Sir Walter Scott and the Reverend John Thomson of Duddingston Kirk Edinburgh, who is associated with the well known phrase 'We're a' Jock Tamson's Bairns'. Apologies for rambling on - just so passionate about Kelty.
What a treat that was! Was brought up in Kelty but been away for decades. You walked my route to school every day and took me past a dozen key places from my childhood. And to top it all, I share your birthday, the day before the Coal Race 😂. Thanks! 👍
Nice one Ginger Man, a nice piece on the Old Kelty Toon. You've shone a very positive light on the place and it looks good in the sunshine. There is more to discover tho', I feel like you need a part II. You have to include the Kelty Brig, the Quarry park (which used to be Blairadam Brickworks), you glazed right over the primary school which is a heritage building, the Gothenburg society and their pubs, the mighty Kelty black burn and its origins from Loch Fitty thru the mines and into the Meedies. Croftangry is indeed a belter, but so is Cocklaw!
Ahhh station road ! I grew up literally over the burn behind that block of flats ! You can see my childhood home if you stand at the bus stop just up from where he's standing !

Been watching on You Tube ( tv)for months, so chuffed that you came back and saw us on a sunny day! Although, you never saw half of what the forest has to offer, you only skirted on the edge! Maybe next time? The coal race has been going for over a hundred years and is well worth coming to see! Thank you for visiting us and showing us “wi oor gid claes on” 🤩🤩. Helen xx
With this sort of advertising, Blairadam Forest may soon exceed the Saturday footfall you’d expect in Dunfermline High St. There’ll be a MacDonalds up there soon. It’s a braw, interesting place with tons of history, but if it’s a quiet peaceful walk your after, forget it. It’s been busy midweek and mobbed at the weekends since lockdown was lifted. Parking is now a problem at weekends and so, I’ve found, are undisciplined dogs. Red squirrels, once a common sight are now very thin on the ground. I haven’t seen one for some time and the fabled pine martens which are hard enough to spot anyway have probably retreated to more peaceful habitation. If noise, crowds, dogs, horses and squads of mountain bikers up to 20 strong are your bag then it’s just the place for you. If it’s solitude you want then stay away because that’s no longer on the menu. Good video though.
Great video. A bit of a random question for you with you traveling Fife. You wouldn't have happened to see any BMX Tracks, RC tracks, bings or anywhere that would be good to run a off road RC buggy. Trying to find places to run RC cars in Fife seems near impossible.
@@GingerManWithACam Thanks for the reply. As far as I remember Lochore Meadows is all grass? Although RC cars can run in grass they are far better on a gravel or dirt surface. If it's very short grass they run well but anything that wee bit longer cause alot of friction and the cars can easily tumble around the corners. I will have a look in to Crossgates wood and also subscribe to your channel. It's good to know what's around Fife. Thanks for the content.
@@GingerManWithACam Is this the Crossgates woods you were referring to. Thanks for keeping your eye out in future. That's appreciated. maps.app.goo.gl/QCtZTdLJzcrvBpcv9 Crossgates woods you were referring to?

I grew up in Kelty and left in 1984, how familiar things still look. Thank you.

I'm not sure of the top of my head, there are a few places that probably would be amazing like Crossgates woods or Lochore Meadows?
