I ❤ how you use it up, make do or do without. Using what materials you already have available here in most of America is a lost art. I follow people who use what materials they have. I am encouraged by your hard work.
Your point really hits home, we as a society are terribly wasteful. Somewhat related is appliance repair. Broken? Most toss and buy new. We recently had two appliances fixed for the cost of the TAX we would have paid on buying ONE new.
What a lovely job you have made of building a tiny cortijo to keep your lively dog warm and safe, at night and pick up some really useful additional skills on the way. . It was also great to hear you laugh together, in your very own little haven.
Hola harriet....la casita de oona .te ha quedado preciosa.te has hecho una profesional....el video me ha encantado .....un abrazo muy grandote para Mauro y para ti ...😘😘😘 Desde Castellón...hasta el próximo video...chao ..chao
What a gorgeous little house for Una! Is she fully grown now, she looks so big! I’m amazed at what you can turn your hand to Harriet! Can we see the completed kitchen when it’s done! X
Love watching your videos (your voice is very soothing and appreciate the song choices). It does my heart good to see a woman not afraid to try stuff. You should be very proud of what you both have accomplished! Thank you for sharing your lives with us all!
If it makes you feel any better, I always forget to take the scoop out when I fill the cat litter bin and have to fish it out. The dog house looks amazing! Just needs a Ring doorbell. 😂
Excellent work Harriet and Mauro, when you finish the Finca you will feel enormous pride and satisfaction, the effort will have been worth it, greetings from Córdoba Spain.👍
Your projects are wonderful and inspiring! You jump right in! The dog house looks so good and I loved every step of the way. Interesting information on the cane roofs and your research of older structures. Love the gardens and your bean sproutings look very healthy. 💚🤎💜💗💗
Can't beat lime mortar, I used to use it in Cornwall and hopefully will use it again when we sell up and move inland to a old farmhouse here in Costa Blanca 😊
Great job Harriet, it’s a mini house for your little pup and he’ll be cool , warm and dry outdoors ❤. Love watching you create. Be well, safe and much love to you and baby and of course Maurio ❤
Great to see how you used bamboo. I have been thinking about how to make use of the bamboo that grows on my land in UK and now I can start on my chicken roof . Thank you for showing this ❤
Your little dog house looks amazing, and the garden is growing so well, I guess with 30 degree temps helps, we just hit 19 for the first time this year!
Hi Harriet! I especially loved this video of yours, because the cane construction methods remind me of my grandparents' old country house. I am Greek, from the islands of Cyclades, where the old country houses were made from stone walls, coated with lime, and the roof was canes with a top coat of dry seaweed, straw and then a special clay that was pressed and dried. Unfortunately, we had to lay a coat of cement instead of the clay on my grandparents' house's roof, because the clay soil has run out and the old people who knew the techniques have all left us. So it's awesome to see the old, sustainable techniques, common in the countries of the Mediterranean, being used with such success!
What a lovely job you've done on the kennel, well done. Your garden looks just beautiful now that there's so much in bloom, lovely fresh veggies for dinner every day 👍☺️♥️
I’m a bit late with this, but I just wanted to say how happy I am to hear the fabulous baby news! 🩵 May you continue to have a smooth pregnancy Harriet! My best wishes to you both!!! 🎉
What a brilliant initiative to build with cane! You have ample resources of it so it just makes sense to learn to use it. But few of us really look around to see what can be used before we run out and buy more, consume more, waste more.
This channel brings me so much joy ❤️ thank you for always creating such inspiring, relaxing, educational, and therapeutic videos. And a belated congratulations on your growing family😊. Hello from Canada and take good care 🇨🇦 ~Dayna
@Harriet, if you check out Kirsty from "Portugal from Scratch", she uses lime render and other natural building techniques for almost everything. I think Una will be incredibly happy in her palace ❤
Harriet, you have a lot of love for your dog to put that much effort and time into making a lovely proper home. You did a magnificent job, and it looks so beautiful. Is this a dog-ominium?
Harriet are you really as composed as you seem on camera even when you mention that you are frustrated your frustration is so different than mine for instance... I admire you tremendously you're going to be a great mother😊
Oona is getting soooo big. Excellent work on her tiny house. But how will she feel about sleeping outside at night? Be careful that you provide enough ventilation. Your skills level is really growing! Have a wonderful week.
qué chula! el techo de casa de mi abuela era así. ahora lo podrías pintar con cal (esas piedras blancas que se ponen a hervir el día antes) que también es muy tradicional de por aquí.
Great job on the doghouse. Using the cane is brilliant. I bet your dog is going to be very unhappy sleeping in the doghouse. And with the wild boars around it could be dangerous. I have always had my dogs and cats live in my house with me. Looking forward to the work on the kitchen and a good new secure door to keep out the weather and creatures. Thanks!
Thanks! I think she'll be more comfortable outside in the summer heat. We sleep outside in a tent in summer so if it's good enough for us it's good enough for her!
All I am saying is the dog will miss being with you, since she has always slept close to you. Thank you for telling me you sleep outside in the tent in the summer, perhaps things are safer at night there with the wild boars than I thought. Wild boars would scare me to death. They are so dangerous. All the best to you! @@LittleSpanishFarmstead
@@turawolfe2841 Yes they can be dangerous but we've only seen them twice on our land and they startled and ran away at the first noise I made. So I do feel pretty safe. Although that sounds like famous last words 😂
hi, i watch your videos for year so so . just idea on bolts in door frame, you may want to add another wood trim wit hole larger enough so bolts will sink under surface and dog will not have chance to rip skin coming and going. like your rustic style .best of luck
Another great video. Sourcing your materials from the property must be so rewarding. Great job. Y'all never fell to impress me. I know this may have been ask before but, I noticed your laundry on the line outside & was wondering the method you use to wash things. I love my clotheslines. Have a wonderful week.
Aw thank you! Actually we are currently taking laundry a laundrette once every few weeks. Installing a washing machine here is definitely on the agenda for this year!
I also found lome somewhat nice to work it. You might want to experiment with different sands as different grain sizes behave differently. From what I understand you want to have a good mix to avoid cracking. Glad your moving away from cement :-) (lime is still bad for the climate afaik so clay is I guess the most green option).
@@LittleSpanishFarmstead sorry, I meant lime not loam. And clay should have been loam - which you already applied. It's said that you have to do so much research to find an alternative that doesn't ruin the planet as quickly as the default option :-/
@@Jacksparrow4986 ahh got ya! Haha that makes more sense. I think it's just because I was introduced to cement first it always seems like the easy option, I just need the practice and exposure to lime.
I ❤ how you use it up, make do or do without. Using what materials you already have available here in most of America is a lost art. I follow people who use what materials they have. I am encouraged by your hard work.
I feel the same way Janet. We are so wasteful here in the US and they're really an inspiration.
Your point really hits home, we as a society are terribly wasteful. Somewhat related is appliance repair. Broken? Most toss and buy new. We recently had two appliances fixed for the cost of the TAX we would have paid on buying ONE new.
Wow Harriet you just get better and better at these jobs. What a brilliant doghouse! x
The rooster was walking so gently ☺️ like: don't mind me, I won't interfere, I'm just curious to what you're building here👀🐓
I’m really liking the ‘old school’ way of European building with traditional proven method’s which last a long time…. ❤
Actually wouldn't mind being in the dog house if that was the dog house! Marvellous! 😊 🐶 💚

BEST DOG CASA IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD.... AWESOME!
I was thinking the doghouse would get hot, but with the lime it will stay fairly cool. Excellent job 👏.
Thank you Harriet and Mauro, for sharing!

I love the dog house! It will be so comfortable with how well insulated it is.
A lovely house for Oona. What a great idea, to test methods on a mini house that you can later apply to a larger building. Harriet you are so clever!

I extra love the choice of music today. Wow you are so clever, plumber, builder, plastering, gardening - great work, the dog house is so cute. Lisa
Seria buena idea hacerle una tarima al piso de la casa de tu perrita para aislarla de la humedad del suelo
Buena idea! Dije al final que probablemente quedaba un montón de cosas por hacer, una cosa más para la lista 😂

Amazing! Such a good idea trying out techniques on a small scale before committing to it on your shed/home.
The dog house looks beautiful I cannot wait to see what else you come up with That's a really neat roofing technique I've never seen before
Such a solid dog house. Well done Harriet & friends 🥇

Instead of a door; an enclosure like the chickens/donkey have would be nice. Especially for those warmer nights.
