I am an older person who would be overwhelmed by issues like these. Your ability to understand the issues, do the work and realise this will be a journey which you are already facing is such a lesson to me. I wish I had had the opportunity to learn not just the practical skills you have (when I was at an age to be able to use them). But also, the skills you already have at facing and overcoming being lied to and cheated - ie that disappointment in how people treat each other. You show real courage and strength of mind which I genuinely respect. I am subscribed and waiting to see the phoenix that will surely rise from these ashes. You have SO got this.
When I go look at used rvs motor homes…weeelll I go thru and test all water lines, ac, heat, water heater, commode, look at water tanks ect to check for leaks, get a mechanic to check it out/drive it, ect ect ect And I’m a 69 yr old lady. I never just take someone’s word on anything these days.
I remember the lady that bought the Peach. That poor lady didn't even make it home. The engine blew....too many times it over heated....and the repairs you paid for was bad.......That poor lady paid a fortune to get the Peach on the road and it took her weeks to get it home...so there's that..
It may be that they drained the hot water heater and then disconnected it because they knew there was a family of mice living there. Hot water heaters are a warm place for mice to crawl into, and if there was any leaking or condensation happening in that area, the mice had water, too. It's unfortunate that the seller wasn't honest with you. While you're in these places, make sure you plug up any gaps or holes with copper wire. That's what I use in my mobile home, and it works. Or you'll have the same problem again.
When buying an RV whether newer or older it would always be best to pay for an RV inspection by a certified inspector no matter how experienced you think you are and then have a certified mechanic to go through it for a list of repairs needed. Better knowing for negotiation or walk away from purchases and/or future budgeting purposes.
I'm so sorry that you were lied to. Some people have no moral compass at all. Keep being the light! As you said, you can fix this and your rig will be something you can hang onto for a very long time with confidence and pride. I look forward to seeing what you do with it.

Wax wont hold up very long .Those white chalky lines will be back before you know it. Dig deep...You've got a great Chinnook it's worth all your effort.
Praying you don't find any more unpleasant surprises Jaylena. You're lucky that you're smart and able to do the repairs yourself. I know this rig will be beautiful and fully functional when you're done.❤❤
You will be ok. That rv is at least 30 year's old. They all have problems. Especially leaks. I bought a new 2017 travel trailer things started breaking first year.
Alot of people that buy an rv don't tear it apart and to find issues underneath things such as sofa and carpet. Seller may not have know about leaks on wood floor if he never pulled up carpet. Rodent poop was found underneath everything. Not a big deal. All rvs have mouse poop at some point. After all that is a very old rig. You'll fix it to your liking. Did thevrv have one owner? Two?
I’m a little confused by your disappointment… you intended to gut the rig and rebuild it anyway. Those few small issues in an old rv should be expected.
I don't know about west coast pricing. But, here on the east coast, a Chinook sells for about $35k refurbished. So, by today's standards you got a typical rv for your money.
Sorry to hear about your problems. Been down that road. Suggestion, My grandson bought a travel trailer, was told the same. Hot water heater was junk. Found this out afterwards. We installed an instant on water heater. This is the was to go. Its fantastic.
I'm so sorry this has happened to you. It's a shame, there are selfish, dishonest people out there. Hang in there and take many mental breaks. You're a professional and you've got this.
I'm so sorry you had a bad experience! However, as you said, I'm glad that elderly woman didn't end up with it. When you're done with it, it will be better than new I'm sure!
It’s for a reason grl!! I dunno what that reason is but you got this and you’re a pure hearted person so it’s hard to believe others can do you wrong! That’s how I used to be . There are bad people in this world unfortunately.. just keep ya eyes open and head up!! It will be good and sturdy and how you wanna build it back , like how you want it!! Prayers!!
Sorry there’s more damage than you expected. Glad you are able to do the repairs your self. Now when you put it back together, you can rebuild it to just what you want. It’s going to be MUCH nicer in the end. Can’t wait to see it done.
Looks better than my Camper, though that is a 1978 Camper. People should realize you need to paint the roof every 2 years when you have an older rig to make sure you have no roof leaks. You have to keep up with any leaks as that water will just destroy a rig since most are mad of particle board.... Good work, can't wait till you are done as I have enjoyed watching your other creations. Good luck...
Thanks so much for your videos! Watching experiences other people have with fixing up campers helps me from not giving up or getting too upset on my own project. I started following all your uploads when you first bought this thing. I ran a campervan conversion shop in the early 90's and last March when faced with housing uncertainty I bought a 30ft. 2004 Fleetwood travel Trailer with huge slideout. It was a farm family's covid project and they gutted the inside and resealed the windows and then gave up when they thought they'd have to replace the roof. I got it for $2000 and it has been sheltered while I'm painting and restoring the outside/makeing it weather proof, which has been a huge hassle of so much more work than expected, but almost ready to bring it home from its shelter and start building out the inside. So thanks for telling your story of your situation, it helps so many of us!
people dont care anymore they will tell you anything that they think you want to hear just so they can sell it and once they got your money tough luck for the buyer!
Unfortunately with used vehicles sales some people abandon their humanity for a sale instead of being honest and buyer centric with their attitude ✌️❤️🇬🇧
I'm so sorry you are going through this! Luckily, you know how to fix things, but the point is you were lied to plain and simple, and you didn't deserve that. It almost sounds like he was running a con game. ❤
I would see it as a blessing in disguise. No doubt in my mind you will make this a beautiful toxic free environment for you and Ember, everything new or sanitized! Try making a mood board for how you want it to look when you're finished, it will keep you motivated to get the the finish line!
You are very fortunate that you have the knowledge and talent and resources to work on your van. Materials wear out, we all understand that. Perhaps this person bought it and sold it and had no idea.
I am so sorry, Jaylena. I know you did not want to do another full build. People now days are so dishonest. I know that because as a single older woman who hired people to remodel my house, I was ripped off by multiple people. I paid far more for my remodel than I would have if I had a man that knew better in my life. At least you have the talent to do it yourself. However, it will be gorgeous when you are done.
So sorry Jaylena! I would be inclined to send them a copy of this video. And all others to follow, while you remedy all of their lies. No excuse for this! 😥 💜
Hi, I am 76 with a lot of health issues, but I was very handy and loved building my own vans etc...and loved it. I have to pay to do things I used to enjoy with my limited movement. I also have been screwed and being a honest person, know how you feel. You are doing great and that is going to be one great rig when you're finished...stay positive!!!...have a safe and fun holidays and new years..👍🥰🙏
Based on all the RV renovations channels I have watched it is quite common knowledge that ALL old RV have damage. Even if you don’t see it at first. Water damage. Rot. Etc. I am not sure someone was out to get out. The RV is 25 years old. Even new vans are prone to rodents.
It's an old (classic) Chinook and very hard to find still running in any condition. I'm thinking how disappointed the other buyers must be whose expectations may not be as high as yours. You agreed to a high price, which probably put it out of reach of the other buyers. I've been looking for an affordable Chinook for years. By the way, I am an older woman.
Yes, agreed... As long as what you bought is hard to find and you don't see similar deals after your purchase very often, then whatever repair work they need makes it worth it. Though it would of been nice to find all the problems and get the price reduced, but I've been there. At the time of purchase there's alot going on and its easy to overlook the details, especially if you had to fly out to buy it.
A lot of that damage was clearly visible. You should’ve said hard pass and asked for deposit back. That being said, 19 grand is not bad. Anything that all needs to be gutted, as you know. Just wait till you find out the engine and transmission are bad.
Watching on from UK ... At least you will have all new/reconditioned water system and potentially fridge .. even if it had been working who knows for how long - keep positive
Well this sux. You were not wanting to do a rebuild and could have done so on the van. Now you are going to have to anyway on this vehicle. Why do I feel this is back to square one AGAIN because it IS ~ UGH. I feel your pain. Big SIGH. Very disheartening, frustrating & disappointing. Somehow this doesn’t surprise me. The positive note is that yes you certainly CAN do it. And it will be exactly how you want & like it customized to your specific needs a expertise on how & what needs done. Seems like you & Isaac will both be building out rigs now. Having to roll with the punches isn’t anything new is it. It just gets old but you’ve got this girl & remodel now rebuild will be BEAUTIFUL & ready for exactly when you will need it. It’s just a deeper dive than expected. Sending positive energy your way 👍💕✌️
Jaylena it will come back on the dude 10 fold. I am sorry this happened to YOU but am thankful it didn't happen to the older lady that was probably going to purchase the van to live out of because she had no other choice. I can't wait to watch you transform this into your next beautiful home. sending you 3 much love.
Very disappointing and discouraging. But guess what… this unscrupulous individual who sold you this defective rat infested rig will get treated the same. Shame on him! It’s the same as stealing. Misrepresenting what you are selling to get a better price!
It’s going to look totally awesome when you get it all done ❤ it sucks you was lied too! It’s gonna be a great home once you get it all together. I am looking forward and try to learn as you go .
Hi Jaylena & Isaac & princess Ember congrats on the buying ur next project please replace the fridge & microwave because they r old since u found water damage also take up the front seats & carpet check under the front area for water damage and rust because Utah uses a lot salt on there roads ❤ur subscriber Peter A from SC
Hello jaylena God bless you but you are right people will lie to you for financial gain sad but true rather than be honest this is why it is so hard for people to trust one other because of people like this once again sorry this happened to you but please don't let this get you down
I feel badly about your purchase and the undisclosed issues with the Chinook. I’m excited to watch this new building adventure. I know you will make your new rig beautiful. I’ve been watching for a few years now and thank you for sharing your vlogs. Big hugs to you and little Miss Ember. 🥰❤️
I found and read the listing. It said it was in excellent condition. To think you tried sleeping in it on your ride back from Utah with Rat poop in it makes me nausea 😵 Sorry, Jaylena. But, like you said, you have the skills to repair it all and make it beautiful.
19k ? 😅 .. 1k? 😅.... im sorry but no and hell no. You could have bought a new car for 19k. I can only hope it has very little miles on it so at least its mechanically sound. In the plus side, u made me feel better about my purchases. 😅. Highest ive ever gone is $2k. Why? Cuz people lie and u have to fix their problems anyway whether 2k or 19k. My 2k van made it a year snd 17 states before it blew up and i felt bad about that. But thanks for putting that into perspective 😅😅😅
heres a hug i know its not much but im so glad ur going to be ok with all the work ahead im here rooting for u and as for the other issue the reason theres so much rat poop is because they couldnt find the bathroom so when u gotta go u gotta go let me know if the rat poop joke helped in this whole thing if u dont reply i will guess u were to sad to laugh at the attempt ti make u smile oh feel free to share my joke and comment with others
Is she complaining or explaining and voicing her frustration? It’s her channel, she can say whatever she wants and you don’t have to watch if it’s a bother to you.
@@mbd6054 because the original owner may wanted to replace it with something new? Pre winterizing it and disconnected it as an extra layer of protection
Do you know what rat n mice urine n poop can do to ppl. Every hear of that rig thr truck driver drove n he died from it. He got so sick. So she has no choice now but to rip it apart. Once you get pee liem that you can getdeslthy suck I have an rv that the dame thing happened I had to rip all the carpet out and alot of the ceiling is out. Rest will come out this spring and all eb redone. So before u decide to be rude to her do yoru homework. There was just a lawsuit over a building where rats were infested, and ppl got sick. Read rhe enes a little. It's her rig she can do what she likes. Why are you so negative. You think you'd be there for someone your joined on a channel of not the opposite. Thats just mean. Of anything, learn from her. She's not dumb she's very smart
Wow, sorry you got tuck in advantage of I bought a 1997 class C 31 foot V 10 Triton and I gave $10,000 for it when I went to pick it up the man ended up giving me 1000 back because he said I might have some Things to go wrong with it. I suggest you check your oil cooler in your adapter gasket. Your vehicle is about. I want to sayit’s over 30years old. Mines getting ready to be 30 years old. I had to replace my oil doctor gasket and my oil cooler because it started leaking oil into my radiator. I suggest you check that have that replaced $19,000 is way too much money to pay for that. I was actually looking online the other day and I seen one just like yours and they wanted it 20,000 for way too much money for old RV.
I guess I am going to trust the process because you bought a used RV that is old of course there's going to be issues but i dont agree with the previous owners lying to you. Most of the people who are selling a vehicle, they will lie about issues so you will not talk them down on the price. In better note, i cant wait to see your visions for this rig. ❤
you are not that naive, plus you have so much experience with so many units, your visual inspection should have given you an idea. Plus, if everyone believes every seller then everyone is a fool. The unit is over 30 yrs old, it will have many problems, if there were zero problems they would ask more $ and nobody will buy it, they weren't asking much $ so...then you must assume it has problems, even a brand new rig has problems
If you start to get overwhelmed, walk away for an hour or so, do something (anything) else. Take your mind somewhere different. Relax, you’ll feel better. Keep going and keep smiling. 😊
It sucks that they lied to u, but it is your responsibility to check everything bfor you purchase. You took a, flight across country to buy this Rig at least you could have done is done your due diligence. You should know better, but you were in a hurry and trusted someone you did not know. Shame on you. With that being said good luck..

I would be surprised if there wasn't that many issues or more with an RV that old. When you tear anything apart you're going to find problems.

I’ve been watching for a few years now and thank you for sharing your vlogs.
Big hugs to you and little Miss Ember. 🥰❤️
People are dishonest and deceptive due to greed. They want more $$$
I found and read the listing. It said it was in excellent condition.
To think you tried sleeping in it on your ride back from Utah with Rat poop in it makes me nausea 😵
Sorry, Jaylena. But, like you said, you have the skills to repair it all and make it beautiful.
hantavirus, not healthy for Ember
You can do it girl
How would he know rat poop was behind things you have to take a part
19k ? 😅 .. 1k? 😅.... im sorry but no and hell no.
Just curious what is the gold thing next to your ear ?
Oh boy! We know you can make an amazing rig! 😊
heres a hug i know its not much but im so glad ur going to be ok with all the work ahead im here rooting for u and as for the other issue the reason theres so much rat poop is because they couldnt find the bathroom so when u gotta go u gotta go let me know if the rat poop joke helped in this whole thing if u dont reply i will guess u were to sad to laugh at the attempt ti make u smile oh feel free to share my joke and comment with others
Why complain when you always rip out everything and make it the way you want. You're just gonna flip it and say it's a Chinook when it's not.
I was thinking, it's an old camper. Yeah it's gonna have some water damage at some point. The owner may have never known about it.
@@lance307 If they didn't know about the water damage, why was the water disconnected?
That sucks, dislike liars 😢
The new IPhone update allows you to record phone conversations. I’d start doing that if you’re able. Great content though!
You are very talented Jaylena, after you finish everything going to be a beautiful home 🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️👋
I need link to your boots. ADORABLE!
YOU SHOULD BE WEARING A MASK!!!!!!! RAT POO AND MOUSE POO CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS, DANGEROUS.
hantavirus
you are not that naive, plus you have so much experience with so many units, your visual inspection should have given you an idea. Plus, if everyone believes every seller then everyone is a fool. The unit is over 30 yrs old, it will have many problems, if there were zero problems they would ask more $ and nobody will buy it, they weren't asking much $ so...then you must assume it has problems, even a brand new rig has problems
Hi ya what’s the van like mechanically ? Merry Christmas 🎄 and a Happy New Year, take care and stay safe from Australia 🇦🇺🚐🚧❤️
If you start to get overwhelmed, walk away for an hour or so, do something (anything) else. Take your mind somewhere different. Relax, you’ll feel better. Keep going and keep smiling. 😊
Sending hugs xxx
How many have you renovated?
You are doing a great job it is going to be beautiful at end and thank you sharing your knowledge with us love and support ❤❤❤❤❤
Can you go to the site where you found this a give a review about these sellers?
It sucks that they lied to u, but it is your responsibility to check everything bfor you purchase. You took a, flight across country to buy this Rig at least you could have done is done your due diligence. You should know better, but you were in a hurry and trusted someone you did not know. Shame on you. With that being said good luck..
I hope they're watching your video and feel like crap. I would disclose who they were.
Hang in there……
Do you still even with all the issues think that it was a good buy or would you have passed on it?
