I cannot even begin to explain how freaking good this is!!!!! I have probably made this cake about 12 times! Not even exaggerating! The only things that I changed about this recipe is that instead of making the whipping cream, I just bought some whipping cream added sugar and vanilla extract. And for the cherries I bought maraschino cherries and chopped those up and put them in between the layers. And instead of the liquor(because I’m underage and made this for eid before lmao) I used the cherries juice to moisten the layers! It turns out sooooo good and moist. If your looking for a cake recipe I 120% recommended this delicious recipe. 1000/10! Thank you for this amazing recipe, my whole family begs me to make this all the time! Thank you! P.s if you follow what I did the cake is liquor free and little kids can have it too then!
And not to mention that this cake isn’t also overly sweet and that means that my diabetic grandpa loves this recipe too and won’t like raise his blood pressure too much!

Hi Jommel. I haven't tried making a roll for black forest cake yet, so I'm not 100% sure. But I'd suggest halfing the batter recipe, using a 10.5" x 15.5" pan, and see how that turns out? Hi Kurt. I made this cake few days ago and it turned out really well 😊 I used the exact same recipe, the only difference is that I used Cherry Soju coz I don't have Kirsch. I skipped adding sugar on the Cherry and Soju mixture since Soju itself is already sweet. It turned out really well. The only comment I have is I think the recipe for the frosting is a lot. I probably will reduce the Frosting ingredients to just 3/4 of what's stated 😊 But overall, the cake tastes and looks really good. Thanks a lot.

If kirsch is not available, alternative alcohols that I know work with this recipe is cherry flavored vodka or apple brandy. For non-alcoholic substitutes for kirsch, just add 1/4 cup of water (instead of kirsch) to the chopped cherries to make the syrup. And add 1 tbsp of vanilla extract (instead of kirsch) to the heavy cream when making the frosting. If heavy cream is not available, I’d suggest making a Swiss-meringue buttercream frosting instead using butter - I’ve put a recipe for an alternative buttercream frosting at the bottom of the description section below the video. Hope this helps! 😊

CJ Hi CJ, thanks for watching! For the coffee, just make your coffee the way you would normally make it for drinking. If you don’t drink coffee, I’d say just follow the recommendations on the brand of coffee you have. I use Keurig pods so I just use 1 pod per mug of coffee I make. If you use Maxwell House for example, just follow the amount of coffee they say for 1 mug. Hope this helps! 😊

Hi Isha - I'd suggest using granulated sugar. Sanding sugar does not dissolve even under heat. So your cake will end up with a crunchy texture. That said, you may make any changes you like, any adjustments you see fit to make this dish more enjoyable for you :)

Made this recipe. Couldn't get cherries so I used strawberries 🍓🍓 instead. Turned out fantastic!!! But note..don't skimp on the kirsch. That full cup is needed lol 👍

CJ Hi CJ, thanks for watching! For the coffee, just make your coffee the way you would normally make it for drinking. If you don’t drink coffee, I’d say just follow the recommendations on the brand of coffee you have. I use Keurig pods so I just use 1 pod per mug of coffee I make. If you use Maxwell House for example, just follow the amount of coffee they say for 1 mug. Hope this helps! 😊

For a gluten-free version, I'd suggest substituting the 2 cups AP flour in the recipe with: 1 cup rice flour, 1/2 cup tapioca flour, and 1/2 cup potato starch. Hope this helps! :)

Yes - totally okay to omit the kirsch. For non-alcoholic substitutes for kirsch, just add 1/4 cup of water (instead of kirsch) to the chopped cherries to make the syrup. And add 1 tbsp of vanilla extract (instead of kirsch) to the heavy cream when making the frosting. Hope this helps! 😊

Hi Isha - I'd suggest using granulated sugar. Sanding sugar does not dissolve even under heat. So your cake will end up with a crunchy texture.
