Brilliant! Simply wonderful use of the watercolors, acrylic ink, granulation medium. Very inspiring and wonderful to watch your balanced and calm painting approach. Thank you Jean for sharing your work.
I really enjoyed watching you construct your beautiful landscape and you are so confident in your strokes! The texture truly added a rugged quality and I enjoyed seeing you use the Dr PH Martin's white! Thank you!! I love your minimalist approach using 3 colors, which spared the painting from getting overworked! A wonderful tutorial!
Great technique. Just wanted to say that there are no “mistakes” in ART! If you say that , beginners think they can make a mistake, which they can’t..we all adjust, change, adapt..thanks!
I could watch this video a hundred times and never get tired of it. The colors are so yummy together and the granulating medium is such a gift to watercolor.
I've had granulation medium for 3 years, never used it. However, all that's changed when I view the foreground with what looks like scattered sand in this painting. Thank you, Jean!
Jean as usual a stunning painting! I love to watch you paint. Your voice is so calming. Perfect for this time. I hope you feel like painting more often.
Gorgeous!! Look at all that beautiful texture, with only two tubes of paint and one bottle of ink?? Incredible. Honestly, your brush is a wand, Jean. I bet you could close your eyes and paint and you'd still end up with something brilliant.
Thankyou for sharing this, I used to work in a similar way years ago, and was drawn away to different media, forgetting how much I loved this very natural looking way, I have been re-inspired Thankyou so much.
Not only did I just discover your channel, I also see that I live about 8 miles north of you! This is really beautiful...much more than those mud flats at low tide. That 2 color mix is fantastic! Thank you thank you!
Jean, your abstract painting of this landscape is absolutely beautiful! Imagine living there, and the sight you have before you. PH Martin watercolor is awesome. I use it. You are correct...it's a watercolor not an ink. Love your creations. 😘💖 🎨
Beautifully Creatives Landscape with inking And Vizlistion effects Dome exshdaionta tie and Dye flulw spreading Patterns.Nice Landscape watercolours wow...modern painting New effect..
This is just stunning! I like the inspiration of the mud flats. Living in Fl. I’ll have to pay attention as the tides go out. Thank you for this wonder demo. Kathy P.
In addition to sharing your wonderful technique, I appreciate the recommendation for the PH Martin Bleedproof white. Using gouache is so frustrating, because it disappears as soon as it dries and you have to do a second coat. I've just ordered some!
Glad to see your new painting! I love it! The granulation is very nice and the lights with the white colour gives more depth and contrast. I started also with scratching into my paintings. Thank you for sharing your painting and hopefully there will be more soon. :))
Merci vos vidéos sont magnifiques et sources d inspiration pour une débutante comme moi et votre voix est également reposante. Vous me donnez toujours le désir de peindre.
Very Beautiful Jean :) I picked up on a comment that you said "I haven't painted in a while and I felt like doing a painting." I think that is when you are the most relaxed and OPEN to creating a beautiful painting with little effort. You are the person who inspired me to paint in watercolor. I just love your style Jean :)~ Jeannette
Don’t ‘fix’ anything. I really like what you have painted. I can see the mud flats, the hills, the receded water, etc. I can almost see the sea gulls coming in to feed. I normally do not do abstracts, but I might give it a try after watching this. Thank you.
A most enjoyable and satisfying watercolor video. I liked seeing "how you work" and go from "this" (inspiration(s) found in your photos) "to this".....voila! Wonderful inspired expression! Complete with the thrills, chills and spills of "this is where things can really get out of hand" to the lighting of the darks with a few strategic touches of PHMartins Bleedproof white. Excellent and I will be watching it again as I try these techniques in my own inspired efforts. I'm Liking and Subscribing!
I’m a new subscriber and I’m playing catch up on your videos. Oh my.. you are fabulous! I love the fact there’s only 2 colors. This is beautiful work !!
Thank you Jean, that is an awesome abstract. Really enjoyed your creativity. Love the colors. Show us more please. Tell me, are you from South Africa now living in the States? I used to too for 23 years but now live with my family in New Zealand.
Thank you so much for your beautiful demonstration Jean. The Dr Martin’s bleedproof is a real game changer. So glad you are back. And I loved your new tutorial too!!! I have a question. Did you start the painting on a wet sheet of paper, or did you only wet the sky part before you started?
Beautiful painting! Is it best to use granulation medium on a spot that is damp from watercolor painting and then you add the acrylic ink, then the granulation medium? Doesn't seem to move well on dry paper. Do you use it only on hot press paper?
2 colours, 1 ink, 1 main brush: this minimalistic style is a pleasure to watch and is liberating. Thank you!

Good atmosphere with a few colours...nice textures
I could watch this video a hundred times and never get tired of it. The colors are so yummy together and the granulating medium is such a gift to watercolor.
wow i loved the effect of the granulation media, the final look is great, very powerful landscape painting.
I've had granulation medium for 3 years, never used it. However, all that's changed when I view the foreground with what looks like scattered sand in this painting. Thank you, Jean!
good thats what I have just ordered,. I've watched your videos several times and now ready to go. I am inspired about your style of painting. X
So much texture .... I love it ... thank you for sharing💕
This is very effective. I like how the bleed-proof white creates reflections in the pools of water.
I forgot to mention in the video that there is a link to all the materials under the video.
loving this ....thank you...letting me get inspired.....great colouring...
Jean as usual a stunning painting! I love to watch you paint. Your voice is so calming.

Very good!
Only with two colors but fabulous. Thank you!
As usual I really enjoy watching your creative skills and love the final painting, even without the white which I don't have.
Thanks for sharing your tutorials, of great help to someone like me who is practising and learning abstract watercolor. Keep em coming, lovely work
Oh so happy you'd share your artistic self with us. I just love what you've done with this. Thank you so much.

Thanks so much Jeannette for your lovely comment. It's comforting to know I have inspired some to paint in watercolors.
Beautiful work!
I love it! You’re my favorite watercolorist on UA-cam, thanks for all your tutorials ☺️

Très belle licence artistique
so inspiring!
I didn't know the alcohol ink gives that interesting effect in watercolor. Thank you for sharing. I am definitely going to try that. It's beautiful.
I used acrylic ink, not alcohol ink. Don't want you to buy the wrong item MSKH ART.
@@JeanLurssen Aha! Thank you for correcting me quick. :) Now I think about it... alcohol ink could make an interesting effect too. I will try both. :)
I don't think alcohol inks will work well with watercolour paper as it will absorb them immediately.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🌸 thank you!
I like your Chanel very very much 👍👍👍
I’m a new subscriber and I’m playing catch up on your videos. Oh my.. you are fabulous! I love the fact there’s only 2 colors. This is beautiful work !!
Thank you Rita. Be sure to subscribe.
Thanks
I loved your
Video on an abstract landscape I wonderedif I could use acrylic white paint instead of the bleed free medium?
👍👍👍
Hi Jean, I just subscribed. I like your style. Merci from Burgundy :-)
👍👍
Thank you Jean, that is an awesome abstract. Really enjoyed your creativity. Love the colors. Show us more please. Tell me, are you from South Africa now living in the States? I used to too for 23 years but now live with my family in New Zealand.
Hi Lynn. Thanks for the kind comment. I lived in SA for many years. Was born in England, have been in US for 30 years now.
Beautiful Joan, and a really perfect little video. Thanks.
What is the granulation medium that you use?
Thank you ; learend a lot
😍
Thank you so much for your beautiful demonstration Jean. The Dr Martin’s bleedproof is a real game changer. So glad you are back. And I loved your new tutorial too!!!
I have a question. Did you start the painting on a wet sheet of paper, or did you only wet the sky part before you started?
I only wet the sky area for this painting Petra.
Jean Wonderful painting. I like how you manage to do so much with so limited a pallet. Question: Did you wet the paper overall or just the sky?
For this I just wet the sky.
@@JeanLurssen Thanks
Wait! You live in the states? Mind blown!
First time watching you Jean! So inspiring! I’m hearing a South African accent???
I imagine you can add a tint of colour to the Martin's white if necessary.
Beautiful painting! Is it best to use granulation medium on a spot that is damp from watercolor painting and then you add the acrylic ink, then the granulation medium? Doesn't seem to move well on dry paper. Do you use it only on hot press paper?
HI Angel. The acrylic ink works on both hot and cold pressed paper. I've used it on both.
ok thank you!!
Love it, but too much added white for me. Awesome, lady!!
hi Are you using a clear Granulation Medium? thanks
Yes Colette, it is Winsor & Newton granulation medium.
What type of tool were you using for the scratches?
It was a vegetable knife Pam.
