I didn't have much battery life left so decided to just paint anything that came onto the paper. I didn't quite get to record the last few minutes but you get to see 99% of the watercolour painting process and the end result. This painting is a good example of how you can turn a vibrant watercolour into mud if you are not careful. That could have easily happened here and did a small amount. I actually like this painting. It will be available to buy online very soon at:

I love this paper it is soft and lights are lifted easily from it.

So often, I realize that I’m holding my breath while I paint, which prevents me using my whole body. Thank you for that reminder. Watching you paint your stunning landscapes is incredibly inspiring.
obviously not forever! lol
What I love about abstract is how every person who looks at your painting sees something different than the next.
Hi Shannon, I agree! I do love abstract and semi abstract landscapes! Thanks for watching! 👍🙏
i just love this one. more you sit with it the more feeling you get from it
that is a great painting…real mood and atmosphere..you’ll walk-in a room and as soon as you see it, you’ll be drawn in…thanks…
Thanks Norman! That’s very kind of you! I do like a painting that works from a distance! 🙏
I've just started following you. Your art work has an honesty to it that's refreshing. I love how this turned out .
Hi Kerrie! Thanks! I pretty much share everything! Some of my paintings have been pretty rubbish but some are lovely and it is good to see both! Thanks for the comment! cheers Scott
Beautiful, atmospheric and very much like a scene from Dartmoor UK. I love it. Thank you.
I particularly liked this demo because it didn’t go perfectly and you showed how you could turn it around. It turned out quite well.
Hi Christine! Thanks! Yes that's quite a few of my watercolours! Don't always go to plan but sometimes those ones are the ones I like the most! If you have any questions let me know. 🙏
Olá boa tarde, adoro os seus trabalhos, muito obrigada por partilhar, está técnica também com tinta acrílica? Obrigada 🙏 parabéns 👏
Watching this . just watching this had such a calming effect
Gorgeous
It didn't get muddy, it's very nice. One of my favorites ❤
It's a beautiful abstract. Just started following and I just did my first painting that my.wife actually likes 🙂
Thanks to you Scott ...
Watching again. The magic and the master of magic
Yes a gorgeous painting that is complex and simple at the same time! Thanks for watching! You much be racking up a few videos by now! Thanks! Scott
I absolutely love the serene loneliness of this beautiful painting.
Thanks Pat! I do love moody, isolated landscapes! 🙏
@@ScottSwinson 🙂
Me too ! Very nice and artwork,a great pleasure to see you realizing it.
Thanks a lot from a New french "artist" 😂 @@ScottSwinson
Thanks dear Scott.
No worries Iliana! 👍👍
Simply beautiful!
Great! Really great! I'm overwhelmed.
Thanks Rotzfrosch! Glad you liked it! Cheers Scott
Turned out amazing. Thank you ❤️
Beautiful!
Loved watching this.....magic!
Glad you loved it! Tonight’s is similar but with more explanations. 👍
Just amazing
Thanks Sanzida! 🙏
Brilliant and simple... Simply brilliant. Thank you for sharing. I love Australia ( the old Australia ) hopefully it will regain its notoriety soon ... as it would be nice to visit there again when the tyranny is over. Love and Peace from Canada Catherine
Hi Catherine! Thanks! I do love simple and moody! Yes you should visit when you can in the future! Happy painting! 👍🙏
Wow Scott, that gutsy move at the end really paid off. I love your colour combination and Turner like light.
Hi Decea! Thanks! It turned out well in the end! Glad you liked it! I do love Turner! 👍🙏
I like this one a lot Scott, would have loved to see the end. Leaning a lot from you, creating light with tissue, covering mistakes with a swipe of thirsty big brush. Thanks really appreciate it.
Hi Red Moon! I'm glad you are learning things! I learn things every time I paint! That is what I love about watercolours painted freely.....its never boring and always full of surprises.
I really enjoy the spontaneous and freedom of watercolor, and here you did it at its best!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks Lia!! Me too!! 🙏
As this is the first time i have seen you work, i was impressed by the way you did the tree. Well done.
Hi Smurf, thanks for watching one of my videos. There are a fair few like this one under abstract playlist. Glad you liked it. 👍
Thank you sir . As a beginner i like tge idea to hear the colors names. Thank you
No worries! Glad you enjoyed it! Chers Scott
I really enjoyed watching this process!
Yes good fun and I like the result! I do love minimalist landscapes!
Just stunning!
Bloody brilliant
Hi Marius! Thanks mate! I do love paintings like these that will never be repeated in exactly the same way!
It is really very nice and very artistic. So sensible ! I adore. congratulations !
Thanks Genevieve! You are too kind! Happy painting!
Fantastic
Thanks! Stampscapes! 👍
Wonderful💓
I loveyour semi abstract with full of sensativity approach. Thank you so much for the demo!
Hi HM Art! Glad you enjoyed it! It was a cool abstract! 👍
I like it. I love your honest approach of let’s just see what happens. I paint by instinct end up making my painting worse until I look at them the next day then I like them again.
Hi Scott
I love your painting ! I have tried it twice, I like my second try a little better even though some got overworked and very muddy. Will be getting my order of a hake brush and 2 synthetic sables and a metal ruler. This will help I am pretty sure. A difficulty is the paper gets dry as I keep rewinding your video so can see what you do and follow it step by step. I see how quickly you work and how it pays off . I find it interesting that you also mite like this painting and you had no plan and were trying to do something different with your body. Enjoyed painting with you very much. You have a very grounding voice and a great accent. Thank you. Marguerite
Hi Marguerite! Thanks so much! I really love that you enjoy my work and process. At times when I have tried to copy my own video it is hard so I appreciate how hard that must be. But my mentor Tony Smibert always believed in structure or learning things like that by following someone else then finding your own path. I am still finding my own path! Happy painting! Cheers Scott
A beautiful demonstration of how you use light and a few colors. I love the way this painting turned out. I just started following and really enjoy the way you paint quickly and take chances! I could live with paintings like yours on my walls, they are so fresh andthey have an expansive feeling. Thank you, Scott.
That was fabulous, thanks
No worries Brigitte! Glad you liked it!
So great to see how free you are in your thoughts and movements during a painting you are not certain of, Scott. Thank you for taking the time to upload while your not feeling the best., it is much appreciated. Hope you're feeling well again very soon. TfS!!
I know I would love to see Geoffrey Dyer completing the same process! So that's what I do now. I pretty much record any painting process I am doing and then upload it. I have learnt to paint what excites me rather than requests and that is great because I would be in there painting anyway so I might as well hit record and talk a bit. The unusual thing for me is to not listen to music which is wired together with my painting process up until recently. Thanks for watching! Cheers Scott
I like it a lot. Hopefully I can try it with acrylics. Very good.
Hi Philo! I don't paint in acrylics much but I am sure you could do the same sort of thing as long as it didn't dry too fast!
Your artwork is great and your teaching style is very pleasant
Great video! Totally gorgeous, love the creativity. Thank you for sharing your process!
Love your work!
Hi Tinz! Thanks! I do love that way of painting! I’m really happy people find it idolising and helpful. Happy painting!!👍🙏
I love the bravery of this, using the accidents that happen to your advantage. For me this is an incredibly moody piece. I’m sure when you set eyes on it bext morning it will reveal it’s impact on you! I’m going to follow you because youre the most inspirational artists I’ve come across!
Hi Alan! Thanks! Yes a pretty moody piece! And getting pretty close to being muddy! I’m really glad you like the paintings! I will always share what ever I produce, good snd bad, so people can see all of the experience of painting in watercolour! Thank you for your kind words! 🙏🙏
Your approach appears effortless yet it’s apparent the ability to make spontaneous adjustments is based on experience and knowledge. I appreciate seeing artists at play like this, letting one be free with where things might go. The end result as presented here captures the beauty of darker emotions and I can imagine appreciating what it might feel like to be that lone tree dealing with the elements. Thank you for sharing.
That was fascinating to watch. I admire your boldness, especially at the beginning, when faced with the blank sheet of paper. Your work is very inspiring. Thank you.
Hi Dave! Yes the blank sheet can be fear inducing or exciting! Most of the time I find it exiting! 👍👍
Scott....This piece is amazing! The fact you didn't have time, and not knowing exactly what you planned, the colors, techniques, just draw you in. This is Gorgeous. Thank you! 🥰 💖🎨
Hi Liz! Yes this turned into a beautiful painting! Glad you liked the video and process! Cheers Scott
Looked very good.
Thanks Parth! 👍👍
Again I watched.
Thanks .
An interesting process to not have a plan and limited time due to the battery going flat! Happy painting Raj! cheers Scott
That’s what I like the best just going with your gut and play with paints !! Love your work!
That’s what I enjoy doing! Painting without a plan and seeing where it takes you! Thanks for watching Natalie! 👍🙏
Scott Swinson me too !!
Fascinating! Thank you for the demonstration.
Hi Evelyn! You are always welcome! Thanks for watching and commenting! 👍🙏
Love it - I’m inspired - thanks so much. Get well soon!
It's just absolutely beautiful...! It's amazing how talented you are... thank you for sharing this moment and your process.
Hi Marie! Thank you! It’s always easy to be very critical of our own art so thank you! I appreciate it! 🙏👍
Lovely William Turner watercolor method.
Thanks Philip! I do love his work! 👍👍
Spontaneous, fearless, liberating!! I loved it! Thank you!
Hi Eunice! Thanks! A bit freestyle! 👍👍
I am SO glad I came across your channel. So unique!
Incredibly stunning art! Love the colours.
I really like what you have done with the landscape thank you
Thanks Lorraine!! 👍👍
This painting and your process ate both inspiring. Beautiful work. Thank you for being so open about how you decide what to do next. Kudos
Hi Kathy! Thanks! I always try and be open about my process and at times indecision!
I love how simple (not simple to make) and dramatic this painting is.
Hi there outspoken78! I agree! I like simple but evocative! It is always what I am striving for is that feeling that someone feels when they see one of my paintings! I think it will be a life long quest with no box ticked! Thanks for watching and commenting! cheers scott
Hello, thank you for posting your work. May i ask a brush question? How do you deal with the hairs falling from your hakr brushes?
Very beautiful
I've just recently ran across you and watched a few of your video. I am in awe of the ease you paint with! I can't "loosen" up enough to be such a bold painter but wish I could. Thanks for sharing.
I think it turned out well! I like hearing your thoughts on the process as you are creating.
Btw I just picked up a set of name brushes. They are so fun to play with and give just lovely soft touches that I find hard to get with my other brushes.
*hake
Hi swee bee! Glad you like hearing my thoughts I do try and share some of my thought processes but not always! As I am sometimes just creating!
Yes I love hake brushes! 👍👍
Wow! Very artistic! Thanks for sharing your technic!
Hi Soulscape! Thanks! No worries! Always happy to share! 👍🙏
Enjoyed the process
Excellent!!
Thanks Carolina! 🙏🙏

Distinctive touch. Lovely art .
Wishes.
Thanks Raj! 👍
I love your style and spontaneity! Glad I discovered you! Your videos are a breath of fresh air!
Hi patty! Glad you like them! Thanks for watching and the feedback! 👍🙏
hiya Scott! first hope you are feeling better!! Second, after watching all of your videos, I believe you have an inherent ability with these watercolors. I always see the perspective and flow that merges within your art! thank you for sharing your process!
Hi Stone Creek! It is a definite flow thing. You just get into a groove and then there is less conscious thought and more just doing. I am always in your debt for convincing me to do those abstracts. I love that process and the results and will be doing that indefinitely into the future! Cheers Scott
Love what you did there 👍🏼
Thanks healing hart! 👍🙏
Totally gorgeous, love the creativity .. difficult to watch the dis-organization though, stressed me out a little bit, lol.. it was worth it.. thank you for sharing your work.., really special 👌👏👍
I am pretty naturally chaotic! We are all different! Glad you stuck with the video despite the discomfort! Lol! 👍🙏
Beautiful 💕
Fantastic Scott, thank you, stay healthy!
Hi Wendy! You are welcome! Thanks! Trying to eat well and get good sleep! Thanks for watching! Cheers Scott
A gorgeous peace!

Hi Yvonne! I really like it too! Thanks for tuning in! Happy Painting! Cheers Scott
Lovely painting!
Thanks Soraya! I do like moody and gloaming light! Thanks for watching! 🙏
Perfection
Thanks Robyn! It is one of my favourite paintings! 👍🙏
Watching you paint is such a treat. Just bought your course and can’t wait to start it.
Loved how you make this look effortless. Even tho I know it talent and the look of the fall of the paint some days. It’s beautiful. ♥️
Hi Pixiek! Thanks! Sometimes paintings do just happen and work but not always that's for sure! Thanks for watching and commenting! Cheers Scott
I more than like it Scott..pleased you’re feeling better..
Thanks Hurby! Yes been pretty sick but no COVID so that’s good. Just starting to feel human today! Thanks for watching! Hope you are void where ever you are! 👍🙏🇦🇺
So sorry you have been ill. I enjoyed the video and thought the painting emoted sad feelings.or contemplative ones.
In love as always! Still freaks me out every time you use the razor blade though. X
Looks like one of those blustery days when a sheet of rain & wind flows across the land
Hi Alison! Yes I love those sorts of days! I love weather systems coming through! I'll be demonstrating painting in that sort of weather in the years to come! Cheers Scott
Love love love it
I loved watching this one Scott, superb! I loved seeing the energy as you painted, the speed of your decision making was great, and some bold moves produced a very strong but subtle painting, thanks! I'm glad you feel better :-)
Hi Lois! Thanks! I’m glad you gain something from watching the videos! I do the same with yours! It did evolve over time that painting! Hope you are good! 👍🙏
Beautiful.
Fantastic work.
Thanks Sanka! Glad you liked it! Cheers Scott 🙏👍😀
I'm going to try it , i haven't paint in a while , so this kind of free painting technique can be scary and liberating at the same time but help with the painters block. Greetings from Chile.
Yes! Give it a try! The best thing for painters block is to paint! And also you might want to paint a bit smaller so you make your life a little easier and less stressful! Good luck!
This is a really great moody painting. It's good to experiment with different ideas
Thanks Geometrix! I do like moody paintings! I remember being in Italy years ago and loving some of the really moody religious paintings that almost only had the white of the skin of the subject. Amazing paintings. And Snow Storm, Hannibal and his Army Crossing the Alps by JMW Turner is a favourite of mine! Thanks for watching! 👍
I love it.. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 like it with more of the red oxide ! But it beautiful anyway … thank you for sharing ! 👍
Thanks Margarita! yes it did go a bit darker! And you are always welcome! Happy to share!
This turned out really pretty. I love the atmosphere/mood that comes across in the final painting. :)
Thanks MsArt! Glad you like the atmosphere! I’m not a massive fan of bright sunny days when it come to painting! I love mood and atmosphere and storms! Gloaming light! Thanks for watching! 👍🙏
Very nice! Not knowing what is going to happen is most of the fun of this ... and being brave enough to go over something that looks good to see where it will go further is a nice thing to show us ...
Hi David! Yes it’s always a bit of waking a path not really knowing the exact destination and trying to decide when to stop! Thanks for watching. 👍🙏
Scott Swinson I'd like to see you do this with acrylic as watercolor which retains its color when dried a lot more than watercolor. Appreciate your videos ...
Hi David! It on my list of videos to make in the next two weeks! It will be interesting! When I have tried using acrylics like watercolour I have found it difficult as I don’t know the medium as well and once dry that’s it! No more lifting out. I should probably use more mediums with it! Any suggestions welcome! 🙏
@@ScottSwinson I have started using it as watercolor and it is very different. For Atmospheric painting such as you are doing, it take a lot of water and you need to be careful of spraying too hard because it removes paint. But everything flows and is colorfast. I do something different with it: I use a printing method. I take the Styrofoam from an illustration board (peel off the paper coverings on both sides) and cut it into different widths. I tear the ends off until I get a shape I like. Then I lay acrylic paint next to each other on the torn edge. This I print into the paper, and then spray over that to get interesting shapes. The easiest impression looks like mountains ...
Love the process and the painting. How did you avoid making greens in the sky with the blue and ochre?
