      I have to say my favorite game from this collection is the original teenage mutant Ninja turtles for the NES this was one of the first games I ever played and to this day I still can't beat it but it's nice to have save states now so I can go back on my progress it's so hard to choose though they're all great games but that's the one I would have to pick as my personal favorite

Those never ending days of summer with your friends, re-playing scenes of your favourite TV series and ending the day by ordering pizza and playing multiplayer in front of your SNES and Mega Drive til' the moms call each friend home one by one.

    Fall of the Foot Clan was the first TMNT game I ever heard of. I saw my friends playing it on their Gameboy and I told my parents I wanted a Turtles game as well. Since I only had a Gameboy back then and not a NES, they bought it for me... or rather, they bought Back from the Sewers. I was confused that the game was so different from the one my friends played, but as I played more of it, I grew to love it. It helped solidify my fondness of not only TMNT, but also Nintendo games as a whole.

    indeed the moment this was announced I knew I had to pick it up asap, and after it dropped last month that's just what I did! had to pick it up physically just to have it that way. it's definitely been a humongous nostalgia trip for me, a good chunk of the games I remember playing in arcades and at home! and not to mention the turtle truckload of extras, old ads, design documents (many of with with english translations!) and many box and manual scans there's so much extra stuff it's just mindblowing! a definite must-own for any retrogamer turtles fan!

    Fun fact: I grew up in Northampton Mass, the hometown of the original Mirage turtles. I was friends with the nephew of Kevin Eastman's ex, April. Yes, the original April, former Playboy Playmate. She also hit on me at a bar in front of my parents when I was 21 and she was like 45. I also knew her son, who was a major asshole. Kevin was not the father.

I'll almost always pickup these kinds of releases, helps preserve an important part of gaming history. Over 20 years later, I finally got my chance to play it again by getting a NES/SNES clone console and a used copy of the game (as well as the NES and SNES ports of the two arcade games). I still consider it to be one of the best NES games ever made and right up there with "Kirby's Adventure" as the two absolutely best looking NES games.

    Cerebus is kind of a legendary indie comic that, while it was never licensed for cartoons and became kind of dour and up it's own ass 'serious' book, deserves a bit more than a sarchastic "Okay?". It was the pinnicale of indie comics pre 84 in the US.. that's why Eastman and Laird were fans.

    • @cthulhupthagn5771
      @cthulhupthagn5771 Рік тому +1

      At least that's how it started out, then the longer he started working on the comic the more he started to unravel, with the comic degenerating into some chapters that were nothing more than handwritten essays about how much he didn't like women. The author kind of disappeared for a while, and has been enmeshed in some controversy related to his comments made with regards to dating Barely Legal women.
      For all that, I wouldn't mind reading the comic at least the first half of it, but it's not always the easiest thing to get hold of and quite frankly I don't know that I want to send this dude any money if he's selling new releases of it.

    The Hyperstone Heist is a remix game with content from the original arcade game, Turtles 3 (NES) and Turtles in Time. And while i like the genesis very much, I cannot agree with your verdict. The soundtrack never sounded half as awesome as on the Super NES. Turtles in Time on SNES has such an iconic soundtrack that is even better than the arcade original.

    I was a kid who was greatly disappointed by the first Ninja Turtles game, and then thrilled after seeing the arcade game, ported to NES, plus a couple extra levels! This was a great disappointment, followed by great excitement about a year later. I completely understand why this is still vivid to you, as the memory is still vivid to me.
    EDIT: I'd honestly rather play TMNT: Fall of the Foot Clan for Gameboy than the first NES Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game, mainly due to the lack of annoying (electric!!!) platform elements and unnecessary/awkward RPG. Fun fact: the Konami/Contra Code works in TMNT: Fall of the Foot Clan, with the similar trick, you put in The Code in the start menu. I forgot what it does, but it's one memory I have from it. It's definitely for something that makes competing the game a bit easier.
    EDIT 2: Gamefaqs reminds us that The Konami Code can be used throughout the game, and when you do it you *replenish health*. I misspoke when I said that you use it on the start screen -- I blame Mandela Effect here, but regardless, I apologise for the mix up.

      Which show? There was one that started in 2003 and one that started in 2012, but there's no 2006 show aside from the 4th season of the 2003 show.

      Is it an actual analog controller? Or just one big pad over the 4 buttons/pads that just acts as an "D-Pad" for the shooting direction? I tried searcing for it, but nothing came up. The Mega Drive did have an analog controller, but I am not sure if the Mega Drive can do 360 rotation or just "more/less" in the normal directions/inputs.

    > Turtles were using guns
    Well... How can you explain to a Japanese person that they are shinobi, but they do not use guns? That's like trying to explain to a Murican about cowboys who don't use guns. There are definitely going to be some cultural barriers there.

      Huh? I've never seen fictional ninjas with origins from either side of the Pacific depicted as using guns. Was that actually a thing in Japanese media at some point?

    • @NekoiNemo
      @NekoiNemo Рік тому

      @@Compucles Not media - HISTORY. Shinobi were the first adopters of gunpowder and guns and explosives were the most iconic tools they utilised. The image of shinobi as a clown in full black pajama kicking arse in plain sight is just a product of modern western pop culture, just as cute girl barely wearing anything, other than maybe a scarf covering lower half of the face are product of modern Japanese pop culture.
      Actual shinobi NEVER fought in the open and using conventional weapons (you know, what ninja do in all western media, TMNT being a good example)

    • @Compucles
      @Compucles Рік тому

      @@NekoiNemo As I said, the stereotypical view is the same in Japan, so it shouldn't be surprising for Japanese people to have the same misconceptions. It's the media image of them that matters, not the actual history.
      Besides, the TMNT are rather stealthy in most incarnations, and only Leonardo uses conventional weapons.

    Tmnt 1 on nes is a great game! There I said it don't care who hate it. And I still think it's better than tmnt 2 nes because that one becomes repetitive and boring after a bit while tmnt 1 has replay value and actually felt like an adventure. Tmnt 3 gameboy was also great and fun like that first nes one an adventure game

      I haven't played it yet, but I hear there are a number of retro bonuses in "Streets of Rage 4." That very well could be footage from one of them.
