I'm actually a fan of Death by Degrees, and still have a copy of it (albeit without a case, just a disc and book) and while i can see why people wouldn't like it. If you stick with it and get used to the controls, its actually not a bad game. It can be hard at times, but not impossible. The fighting system is unique among every game ever and I loved being able to smash peoples bones
Great video. I had the first 3 Tekken games on Playstation and played the first game in an arcade in Spain prior to owning a Playstation at all when I was still rinsing my trusty Megadrive. I feel the same way that number 3 was the real ground breaker in the series and stood out as an amazing title of the era. I was touched by your anecdote about your history with Tekken Tag and your family bless you man. I never owned a playstation 2 but as I had some good pedigree playing Tekken games I would enjoy going to friend's houses who owned the system and kicking there arse on theirs :o) For me, Tekken Tag team had the all time best Tekken mini game in the ten pin bowiling. I remember it took me ages to get a perfect score but then the best character to use wasn't immediately obvious. After that I played most of the main games that came out in the series but not to the same degree and I would say they were alright in their own way but not inspring like 3 and Tag Team had been before. I must say that the loading time on Tekken 6 was way quicker on the Xbox 360 than on the PS3. I played it on both systems and it was a nightmare on PS3, especially when we played team battles with the maximum team size. I mean the loading time between all those rounds felt like waiting for each quarter to load while playing NBA Jam Extreme on my orginal Playstation back in the day! Tekken 7 definitely has got that classic Tekken feel from what I've played of it since it came out and after watching this I may download on my Xbox One X tomorrow. I think it may be on the game pass ting these days. This is one of my favourite complete history videos that you have put out so far and through the years I was more of a side scrolling urban brawler gamer, growing up reveering the many great capcom titles in the arcades and the Sega Megadrive classic Streets Of Rage on the console side of things. Tekken is THE 1 on 1 beat-em-up series that I have played most consistantly throughout my gaming life and it is the one that I was most adept at playing as well. I have a lot of good memories connected to it over the years that's for sure. Thanks again for making this video and I can only offer you my apologies for the overly long comment if you managed to read all of this.. tis a bit wordy for sure! Have a great and festive weekend geezer! ... Peace Out
@@slopesgameroom Must be some weird bs going on with the algorithm. Tekken is doing as well as 20 years ago these days. The audience is objectively there.
I'm a bit saddened that T6 and TTT2 weren't well received. I had a couple years of fun with them both, especially playing online, and especially with a good buzz on. I still want Tekken X Street Fighter too.
I respected the entire video....the only thing I want to ask you is...when you got to the Blood Vengeance part...DID YOU KNOW BLOOD VENGEANCE CAME OUT ON THE 3DS....It was an addition to Tekken Prime FOR THE 3DS...and it incorporated the 3ds effect ❤
I've only discovered your channel, I watched the complete wipeout video first. I'm wipeout obsessed and even used to bring the discs to play at parties on the cd players lol. I'm a subscriber now and look forward to watching any future videos and if you haven't already done g police I'll keep my fingers crossed.
The best thing about "Tekken 3D: Prime Edition" is the command shortcuts, where you assign a few combos (albeit with some limitations) to pull off at any time instead of needing to memorize and pull of the overly strict timing of them on your own.
I'm starting to think we need a Complete History and Kick Scammers crossover episode covering scammy phone games. Bonus points if you manage to convince Raid to sponsor it only to bash on them at the end.
That would be epic. How many people actually play Raid? I feel like it's just all marketing, getting UA-cam to push their crappy mobile game to beef up their download count.
The TekkenXStreetFighter game isn’t canceled. There was a error with English translation and Harada explained in a video soon after he found out about there was people talking about it. Yes there are websites saying the game is canceled, however check the dates for when that was published.
@@danhectic5629 that’s the way it looks right now. And if people are still wanting to play that game then it’ll have the potential to come out, the timing isn’t right yet
I love hearing about all of this history, even if I find Tekken basically unplayable. Tried multiple Tekkens (TTT2, Tekken 4 and 5 I think?), just too hard for me. Give me Soul Calibur or even Virtua Fighter any day.
Fantastic video as always mate, what a monster! I've dabbled in Tekken over the years, particularly when I had 5 on the PS2. I've been meaning to get into 7 for ages now, especially given the tremendous longevity that game ended up having.
I’ve always preferred VF to Tekken, I just think the gameplay is deeper and more satisfying, but I do still love the Tekken series as well. I grew up in the mid 90’s playing a ton of both of them. Tekken 3 is outstanding and STILL one of my favorite 3-D fighting games of all time, even today.
Watching the arcade/story endings of every character from ever Tekken game (save for 7, at least in my opinion) were fun and amazing. Tekken games also had some of the best music, I even like some in 7. Tekken 5, 5 DR, & 6 I played Survival Mode to hell, & always enjoyed it (actually that was until I tried to play Survival Mode in T5 on PS2 & hadn't played it years. I stopped after a game where Paul punched my fighter, Law, 3 times getting a PERFECT on me...)
I recall getting Tekken 3 as a rental. My father (who had no interest in video games whatsoever) came in while I was playing, watched for a few minutes, and said something to the effect of “we should go buy this.”
I thought Tekken 4 was incredible. Sure it wasn't perfect but I think it was a step forward to improvement. It's bizzare but fun. That was my first game that I played as a kid with my uncle and I loved it.
Tekken: Uncharted territory in 3D fighting...potential Virtua Fighter (2) knockoff. Tekken 2: My introduction to the series; very interesting exposure to the Tekken 🌎. I was content with the game. Tekken 3: The best game of its time and in the series. Being released during the attitude era was the best thing going for this game. A very rockin' game. Tekken 4: Very sleepy.....felt like most of the cool people left the party. Tekken 5: A very invigorating game. I played this for the first time during the spring of 2005 and it definitely woke me up from Tekken 4. Tekken 6: Not terrible, but definitely unnecessary; like someone replaced my KFC with supermarket fried chicken thinking I wouldn't notice. I didn't want to see Tekken again until they brought the good shit to the table. Tekken 7: The best Tekken game after Tekken 3. The stories for the other characters could be extremely better than they are.
I still think Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection for the PS3 is the most intense and balanced game of the franchise, one very big reason to emulate in rpcs3 since getting a PS3 is rather pointless now, but their games have aged like a very fine wine, specially Dark Resurrection & Wipeout HD Fury, my top reasons to build a high-end gaming system to enjoy said games whenever I want without PSN account issues or net issues, you can play it over parsec and it plays wonderful, sadly emulation is still in a gray area and piracy still an issue, this is only way to play proper Tekken 5 DR online now. Amazing video!
7 wasn't that bad, is 4 and 6 the ones I kind of despise... specially 4 which changed the controls for the worse, I just hate that 7 has all the rest of the characters behind a paywall.
Tekken 7 is the first game in the series to really break some of the basic fundamentals of the series like Team Battle, Survival, etc. in favor of a less-than-stellar story mode that feels like a filler arc. Without having anyone to play with, Tekken 7 has nothing going for it and feels like the worst game in the franchise even if the gameplay is the best the series has ever seen.
Tekken 6 is the best, or TTT2. Tekken 6 because you also have the coop scrolling beat-em-up Tekken force mode as well as the main mode. TTT2 because you have the tag feature. Tekken 7 misses both of these features and add modern day bullshit, DLC and then adding characters from other games which sadly breaks the Universe and just seems gimmicky and stupid. Why is Akuma or some guy from Final Fantasy 15 in the game? And removing endings for each character, one of the core features since Tekken 1. I also don't like Tekken 7.
Tekken is the over all greatest fighting series of all time! The intros are incredible (particularly 2, Tag and 4), and the soundtracks are always addicting! The story is insane but I couldn't love it anymore than I do! Tekken is also the reason I asked for my first console (PS1) and many to follow!
@@slopesgameroom I love you m8, me and a mate have for the longest time had a sort of running joke of ironically loving the T1 select theme then unironically loving it and now this exists and i just don't know how to process it haha also great vid m8
That's interesting. Metaverse related projects seem to be very popular. Every token seems to be into it. One project that has interested me most is called Ertha, a life simulation game on metaverse.
Back in the early 2000’s when tekken tag came out, Sony or some subsidiary game company manufactures a prototype motion fight simulator that detects you punches, kicks and knees and transfer your skill rating and pinch speed to the game. In ten years or less tekken is probably gonna be processing estimate data on what type of fighter or whom type of fighter would win. Similar to the processing AI data used to match up and play against chess opponents.

you know what can of worms you opened by doing a Complete history of Tekken... now you have to do one on Virtua Fighter, Dead or Alive, Soul Calibur... Battle Arena Toshinden (well maybe not that last one). Great stuff Daniel... as always.

Another complete history just before Christmas, thank you very much Dan!
I’ve been a fighting game fan since Way of the Exploding Fist was first released but Tekken 3 quickly became THE fighting game for me. It’s so good!
Yeah I remember being fully addicted to it
I love Tekken, Tekken 5 is the Goat to me of fighters
I'm happy I got to watch this video and now a friend of mine just gifted me Tekken 7 ultimate edition on steam thanks to the sales! Tekken 3 was the last Tekken game I played and now I'm finally ready to catch up!
King is still one of the most iconic video game characters of all time.
Have a great and festive weekend geezer! ... Peace Out
I loved everything about this. You do an amazing job and deserve way more subs and likes!!
Appreciate it mate. Sadly this video has not done well at all. Fingers XD it picks up
@@slopesgameroom Must be some weird bs going on with the algorithm. Tekken is doing as well as 20 years ago these days. The audience is objectively there.
Great video man. I just subscribed!
awesome video!! thanks for making this
I'm a bit saddened that T6 and TTT2 weren't well received. I had a couple years of fun with them both, especially playing online, and especially with a good buzz on. I still want Tekken X Street Fighter too.
Far and away one of the best gaming videos on UA-cam. I doff my cap to you, sir
I love how you put in personal touches that connect you to each story, thankyou for sharing these personal touches it adds to the overall impact of the complete story as we all have our own stories connect to these great games! I'm a subscriber now and look forward to watching any future videos and if you haven't already done g police I'll keep my fingers crossed.
Awesome work
Happy new year!
16:33 - Character Select music into The Prodigy - Smack My Bitch Up 🤌🏼
That sound track with bells is incredible. Tekken 2 at my local round table pizza 🍕 was life.
The best thing about "Tekken 3D: Prime Edition" is the command shortcuts, where you assign a few combos (albeit with some limitations) to pull off at any time instead of needing to memorize and pull of the overly strict timing of them on your own.
You sir just made my day!!Thank you ana Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!
Another masterpiece. I may not be into the kickscammer videos, but your complete history videos are some of my favorite on youtube.
Super interesting and well made video. Thank you !
The TekkenXStreetFighter game isn’t canceled. There was a error with English translation and Harada explained in a video soon after he found out about there was people talking about it. Yes there are websites saying the game is canceled, however check the dates for when that was published.
yea but no it's never coming out.
@@danhectic5629 that’s the way it looks right now. And if people are still wanting to play that game then it’ll have the potential to come out, the timing isn’t right yet
😍 Tekken 🥰 thanks for the 4K60FPS video quality 😇
I'm glad u was smart enough to mention Tekken was the first million seller cutos to u
my all time favorite franchise
I've been waiting for this. thank you
For a long while, back in the PS2 days, I thought this and Yakuza were related.
Annyone else who thinks Kazuya is the main character of Tekken and the most bad ass character in a fighting game ever?
Tbh it should be, the whole thing kinda started with him
I love hearing about all of this history, even if I find Tekken basically unplayable. Tried multiple Tekkens (TTT2, Tekken 4 and 5 I think?), just too hard for me. Give me Soul Calibur or even Virtua Fighter any day.
You could try "Tekken 3D: Prime Edition" with its command shortcuts. It's the only way I've ever found the Tekken series to be decently playable,
Fantastic video as always mate, what a monster!
I was really confused with Street Fighter x Tekken , since Tekken characters barely used fireballs, so why not do Tekken x Virtua Fighter instead?
Man Tekken Really Needed This Thnxs!!
This was a great video. Pretty fun overall and the beginning was rather informative
1. Tekken 3 (PS1)
2. Tekken Tag Tournament (arcade)
3. Tekken 5 (PS2)
4. Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection (PSP)
5. Tekken 4 (PS2)
41:42 the dude reading the ad sounds like he’s about to fall asleep
Great vid new sub 👍🏾
I read that a lot from fans that didn't say 7 was the best
7 wasn't that bad, is 4 and 6 the ones I kind of despise... specially 4 which changed the controls for the worse, I just hate that 7 has all the rest of the characters behind a paywall.
With the recent resurgence of Virtua fighter and rumors of VF 6, i really hope we'll see VF vs Tekken one day.
31:22 "Your Kungfu is strong, pond-skipper. But the Tekken fighters are stronger." "WHAT?!"
I laughed.
Does it not have online play?
Tekken 6 is the best, or TTT2. Tekken 6 because you also have the coop scrolling beat-em-up Tekken force mode as well as the main mode. TTT2 because you have the tag feature. Tekken 7 misses both of these features and add modern day bullshit, DLC and then adding characters from other games which sadly breaks the Universe and just seems gimmicky and stupid. Why is Akuma or some guy from Final Fantasy 15 in the game? And removing endings for each character, one of the core features since Tekken 1. I also don't like Tekken 7.
@@Compucles It has. But considering online isn't exactly free on PS4, it should've had more content for single players.
You resumed my feelings about the game : a perfect gameplay in a lifeless game.
It's a pay to play mobile game ported to PS4, essentially
I learned about Capoeira from Bob's Burgers.
Tekken 1 - at the same time, Namco was working and released Soul Edge ...
You sound like Jeremy Clarkson lol bringing that Top Gear atmosphere to the world of gaming v cool 10/10
"SPEEEEDD, POOOWWEERRR!!!"
Just unlocked all the characters in Tekken 4 last week, and Santa will be bringing Tekken 5 :) So this was AMAZING timing!
Tekken 4 is defo good when I put the time in
Unlocking Doctor B on Tekken 3 was the highlight of my high school years.
@@equanimity92 You have for sure piqued my interest.
Definate subscribe and your content looks totally ace👍
I can hear that Prodigy loop in the background, bruv. 😉
Hahaha well spotted
Tekken 4 was the last Tekken game that I loved
Did...did you just mash up the Tekken 1 character select with Smack My Bitch up? You mad lad I need it in pure upload form!
Hahaha mmmmmmaybe
@@slopesgameroom I love you m8, me and a mate have for the longest time had a sort of running joke of ironically loving the T1 select theme then unironically loving it and now this exists and i just don't know how to process it haha also great vid m8
Bro you got it hands down. You mentioned my favorite movie of all time, first 💜💜💜💜💜
That's interesting. Metaverse related projects seem to be very popular. Every token seems to be into it. One project that has interested me most is called Ertha, a life simulation game on metaverse.
Kudos on 150k subs 👍😎
Cheers mate
Back in the early 2000’s when tekken tag came out, Sony or some subsidiary game company manufactures a prototype motion fight simulator that detects you punches, kicks and knees and transfer your skill rating and pinch speed to the game. In ten years or less tekken is probably gonna be processing estimate data on what type of fighter or whom type of fighter would win. Similar to the processing AI data used to match up and play against chess opponents.
I wish Tekken 4 was released on July 13, 2002, Tekken 5 was released on May 19, 2005, Tekken 6 was released on February 15, 2009, Tekken 7 was released on July 14, 2012, Tekken 8 was released on June 12, 2015, Tekken 9 was released on June 15, 2019, and Tekken 10 was released on January 26, 2024
I also wish namco made another tekken rpg game called “Tekken: Kingdom Of Dragons”, it releases on June 12, 2013, and coming to PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, and Xbox 360, Tekken: Kingdom Of Dragons is a japanese rpg game
you know what can of worms you opened by doing a Complete history of Tekken... now you have to do one on Virtua Fighter, Dead or Alive, Soul Calibur... Battle Arena Toshinden (well maybe not that last one). Great stuff Daniel... as always.
I wish Bandai Namco release a Tekken Collection.
I wish Tekken 6 was released on February 15, 2009 (PlayStation 3 & Xbox 360), Tekken 7 was released on July 14, 2011 (PlayStation 3 & Xbox 360), Tekken 8 was released on June 12, 2015 (PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC), Tekken 9 was released on June 15, 2019 (PlayStation 4 and Xbox One), and Tekken 10
was released on January 26, 2024 (PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and Steam)
remember ladies & gentlemen if you're playing as Eddie Gordo or Christie you're automatically cheating
Loss to them countless times, to cousins and other ppl button mashing lmao
Tekken always seemed more mature, dark and hard hitting than SF or VF. And when I got my PS2 on launch and Tekken Tag a short time later, me and my mates could not stop playing.
